Just a quick update. I like a darker lip color. Last year I found Witch, Please! at good common sense. It is a seasonal color so I was unable to replace the tube I lost until September when they made a new batch. I went in and bought 2 tubes. I wasn't happy with the depth of color on the new batch. When I said something, the owner agreed the color wasn't the same and apologized. She said would get additional mica and replace it for me. I was in town to have lunch with a friend and I was a little early so I decided to check out the store. Though they did not pressure me to make any purchase, but their sales people were very convincing. I purchased a very small bottle of oil called "hippies brew" and they did not disappoint. I spent close to $50 on the small bottle thinking I just wasted $50 on another....ANOTHER incense. Though I did not take their recommendation and used a diffuser and four drops of the incense I purchased. It's been more than a week and I've been using my diffuser every other day and the smell stayed strong. I usually purchased my oils from Bath and body Works, which I continually have to add more oil to my diffuser. As soon as we walked in, we were immediately welcomed in by Yuni/Yumi? I'm probably getting her name wrong but she was incredibly attentive and friendly. I came in looking for a lip balm as I've recently gotten into a lip balm phase. Yuni was helpful and gave me samples to try their lip balms. I was impressed w/their tinted lip balms as they were very pigmented and beautiful, almost like lipstick but not lipstick. I believe she said they tint it with beets so it's natural. you would never guess it's a lip balm. I ultimately picked the Tortoise one, and feel good when I use it and has the ingredients I like. I like that their lip balms are thick and stays on my lips without needing to reapply often as I've experienced w/another certain brand. Hubby also got a lip balm for himself and a beard oil. I asked my daughter if she would go shopping with me to find a birthday gift for a friend of mine and she took me to Good Common Sense. I've lived in Pleasanton long enough to remember this used to be the run down Dean's Cafe restaurant. Well, what a great change in scenery and ambience GCS has made. As soon as you walk into the store front you can smell the aroma of essential oils and body soaps. It's like walking into a spa. My daughter gets so excited when entering this store and I can understand why. As we browsed the store we were greeted by an associate and asked if we had any questions. My daughter spotted a salt lamp and had a question about it's features. We found out that the lamp will work with both essential oils and scented wax cubes. My daughter told me this would be a lovely gift for my friend and I followed her suggestion. Great to see that some Good Common Sense has become of the old Dean's cafe. Pun intended! lol read more

In 2021 I had the ufortunate experience of COVID which left me with distorted smell, taste and headaches. I'm used to the distorted taste and smell now however the headaches that wake me up in the middle of the night, some more severe than others, are intolerable. My blood pressure is super high during an episode and it is scary. Nothing has seemed to help. I've tried EVERYTING ....I've been diagnosed with Sinusitis, Rhinitus, cluster headaches, you name it.....I've been in the ER more than once and tested/scanned for brain bleeds, high blood pressure - and of course, nothing is found but still the headaches are random and ongoing. The other night @ 2am, debilating headache, icepack on head, crying like a baby as all I want to do is sleep, digging thru a drawer looking for anything that will help, I came across this tension roller thing that a friend of mine had given me in a gift basket probably 8 years ago. It said for tension headaches, rub on your temples, back of neck and chest so I thought I would give it a try. I could not believe it! Headache started to dissipate immediately and within the hour it was gone. That was 3 nights ago. Each night before I go to sleep, I use it, on my temples, behind my neck, on my chest - I wold bathe in it if I had to but honestly I have not had a headache since. It is honestly a miracle worker!! Came upon this cute store Saturday. Walked in and immediately smelled this wonderful essential oil aroma of lavender and eucalyptus and was greeted by Jelly. She was very helpful told us about their limited scent which happens to be my favorite Jasmine. My friend and I bought a few things. Used them that night and came back the next day once they opened and bought more of their products. I absolutely love Good Common Sense! I discovered this store right before the pandemic hit, and I'm so glad I did. It's the perfect spot to get a treat for yourself, as well as to find gifts for others. I've even gotten my boyfriend hooked. I used to do this kind of shopping at Lush, but since discovering GCS, I believe their products and packages are all-around much better - better looking and better smelling, and healthier for me and the environment. Some of my favorites from GCS include: shower steamers, deodorant, essential oil blend, bath products (bath bombs, salts, etc), sugar scrubs, bars of soap, cloth face masks, and lip balms. There is nothing from this store that I haven't loved. Went to check out GCSN in the afternoon of their official "Grand Opening". Such a cute spot. Make sure you look UP. There's a beautiful arrangement on the ceiling. The place is decorated so cute. There's something for everyone, men and kids too. There's precious kid soaps with fun colors and unicorns. Along with some CBD options that I'm going to need to check out next time! They have soaps, scrubs, lotions as well as loofas & brushes. Soaps and scrubs all seem to be made in house. They have some stands where you can create your own. It's super fun to do. I got a nighttime lip balm, loofa, and a small black round facial loofa. The little facial one is really hard in the bag but gets spongy and soft when you wet it. It's weird in all the good ways. I definitely recommend them. There's several cute spots for photo Ops. Everyone I spoke to was super kind & offered help and suggestions. All different kind of herbal and natural soaps shampoos, body lotions and bath salts. Staff are great and very knowledgeable. Just tell them what you are looking for or what you need to know about certain condition and they will help you and educate you on the products that you might need. I browsed but never bought anything. Then I read about their All The Things ointment which is an all natural formula for cuts, scrapes, dry skin and everything in between. It's reasonably priced, all natural and locally made? I'm sold. The scent is barely noticeable and it soaks right in. I love, love this place! You can always smell how good it's going to be from the outside. Found out it's the spa blend they use in their diffuser. Had to buy one for home of course. You will not go wrong buying a gift for anyone here including yourself. I always find something new or more items I want to try. The place smells great. However, I felt like the staff is very protective of the products. They are watching over your shoulder all the time. I thought it was one of those stores where you can self-service soap at least their bubble bath dispensers were presentented that way. It turned out you need to ask for their assistance to do that. I got scolded when pumping my own bubble bath in one of the containers they provided. It didn't feel well. And my friend got scolded for smelling one of the products. Yeah...if you don't want people, you should give instructions how to browse or purchase things at your store. Overall it was not a pleasant shopping experience. Walking past the store without going in is nearly impossible, the smells are amazing. Everything is made in house out of all natural and safe ingredients. So sad. I first started coming to Good common sense after hearing it from my husband barber. We always shopped at Lush for their natural zero waste options. Hearing that there was a local, women-owned business we wanted to support. My first visit I stocked up on shampoo and conditioner was a little sad that they didn't have many no plastic options but they did say they were able to recycle the bottle once I was done, just to make sure the bottle was recycle properly. We continued to come and support buying body soaps, and taking advantage of their refill bubble bar... Until yesterday. I came in with my daughter so she could mix her own bubble bath... the bottle I had was an identical 8oz bottle like the ones they sell in the store (mind you I have bought and refilled there before) An associate walks in and asks me "did you purchase this from here?" In which I reply "no but it's identical to your 8oz bottle." She has some words with the other worker and they come back and reply I cannot use my own bottle because they can't determine the size and I'm free to buy another bottle there. 1.They only had smaller bottles. 2. Where the zero waste? Your making me buy another unnecessary bottle, ultimately creating more waste. Couldn't they just go off the tare weight? read more

Don't miss their recent renovation for a really gorgeous space. I was never someone who was able to get into the Lush craze and I think it's because I was waiting for a store like this! All natural products that are made in house! I love the woman owned business aspect and I love being able to customize the scent of some of my favorite products! I'm a big fan of the shower tabs in the Eucawood scent, the lotion scrub Buff my Soul Blue, and the massage oil! I was introduced to Good Common Sense Naturals by my sister and I have to say it was a blessing that she shared this gem of a store with me. I have met Wendy at one of her Etsy pop ups last year in 2016 and since then I was hooked. I love her Native body lotion it keeps my skin so hydrated and smooth. My fav is the juniper berry scent. I've recently gave birth to my baby who is now 3 months and during my pregnancy my sister bought me Disappearing Act 1 which is her skin toning belly balm...let me just say thank youuuu!!! This belly balm has been a gift from above because I got huge during my last month and the only spot I got some stretch marks was the part I couldn't reach under my belly button! This stuff realllly works! Since being post partum it also has been helping my skin firm up! I saw some products listed in a fellow mommy group and decided to contact Wendy as I was desperately looking for something to salvage my hands. They were beyond cracked and bleeding as the weather was dry and I work in a hospital and use alcohol sanitizers 24/7. This is when Handy Sawdust Seranade hand lotion came in my life. Upon first glance it looks like a simple hand cream but smells like the woody pine forest trees of Christmas time. in about three days my hands were no longer open and bloody, and in a week they had healed. I used it at night after my showers and wore a glove over my hands with the lotion. It was god send. I've tried gold bond ultimate healing lotion and the thick hand cream from Kiehls and they never kept my hand and skin this smooth and had a stickiness to it. Either way I fell in love and I got intrigued to try more products!!!! Flash forward to a year later, Wendy is now one of my good friends and I am definitely a follower of alllll her products!!! I own 24k gold serum, fairest of them all, I use exorcist body scrub on my body after work diligently. Came in a few days ago and the staff was not wearing masks when I walked in and continued without a mask while making products which was disappointing. The shampoo bar makes my hair dry, brittle, and flat (with the use of their conditioner, which did not help). I did really like their hand cream, but overall I was not impressed with the products for the price.
