The very last donut available in the Good Dough at around 12:30pm was the one I took a picture of. The shop closes at 2 so it was very disappointing there was only 1 donut...that's right ONE left. They say they close at 2 or until they sell out. Not a bad problem to have I suppose if you sell out but also a bad problem when you have customers still wanting to get donuts as I saw customers still coming in. This was the Molly Ringwald Raspberry donut and I did like that raspberry glaze. However, I was not impressed with the donut texture. It tasted dry which was probably due to sitting out for so long but it tasted like a day old donut. This would not have been my choice of donut either by looking at all the delicious flavors they would have from other yelp pictures.. Wish I knew they sold out so quickly so I could've gone right when they open and got freshly baked out of the oven donuts. Not sure if I would go back. All the girl working kept saying was sorry only 1 donut. I have mixed reviews of this place. read more

I have followed them since their beginning in Jax and love everything about it! They have a few different types of doughnuts for everyone's taste, yeast raised, cake, layered, and bombs. They also have chicken doughwiches (so crunchy), grilled cheese and avocado doughst. My fave are the yeast and layered doughnuts as they are a little lighter and vegan Fridays when they typically have more options. Each doughnut is made with a mouthful of flavor in each bite. Customer service is always on point, staff is knowledgeable about ingredients and sensitive to food allergies, questions are welcomed. Price point is proportionate to the size and quality you get. Parking is limited to behind the building, a lot behind Vystar bank, or across the street (watch for signs). Lots of seating and natural light for the perfect doughnut selfie. Lovely local Donut shop, kid friendly with an inviting and open ambiance. I came in with a group of friends and toddlers, it's spacious enough for our group to hang for almost two hours. Lattes and cappuccinos are a work of A R T. Hand crafted drinks with a touch of perfection. I enjoyed every sip of it. Donuts wise, I like all of the flavors. And would like to come back to try the fried chicken sandwich. We got to watch the doughnut making process through the glass window, so that was pretty cool. My son had fun watching the employees prepare for the doughnuts and decorating them. The kid area has enough toys to keep them occu6for a while. They have a little kitchen and wooden foods and cooking toys for the kids to play. I thought that was pretty neat. read more

My favorite thing about Good Dough is the creativity that they bring to the donuts. This weekend we went on (7/31). Every year, they celebrate Harry Potter'a birthday on this day with a full out decoration in the shop, themed employee outfits, and ... wait for it... Harry Potter doughnuts! We had a sorting hat Bavarian crème and ended up in ravenclaw and hufflepuff based on the inside colors. The butterscotch/butterbeer donuts with cookie dough golden snitches were awesome as well. The donut it's self were good but honestly I feel like the flavors I got just didn't hit the spot except the apple fritter that was delicious but the paw donut with vanilla inside was okay I didn't like the texture of the donut I felt like I was biting into a loaf of bread. The brown butter was good it just needed to be on a old fashioned, I'll definitely try some different flavors next time. I love a fancy donut place! Good Dough totally delivered. We had stopped in Jacksonville on a road trip from NYC to Miami. Good Dough came highly recommended from our hotel. We decided to stop as we continued our drive south and I was so glad we did. We placed an order online to pick up and chose a Bill Murray donut that was filled with oreo cheesecake and had an oreo crumb portrait of Bill on top and a brown butter donut. Both were excellent and fluffy. I was so glad we decided to order online as when i arrived a little before 9 and the line inside was already substantial. It's a small shop with only so much room behind the counter, so temper your expectations about how quickly you'll be able to get in and out! I popped in to this little donut joint the other day with my friends and it did not disappoint! We were in the mood for a sweet treat and this was just the place we were looking for! It is a very clean and modernly styled place. There is a counter that you walk up to and order what you would like. You can either take your order to-go or you can enjoy in the shop. The donuts are not only deliciously but also beautiful to look at. I ordered the milk and honey, it was truly amazing. It was a perfectly soft texture with a great flavor! The honey was of a citrus variety and it enhanced the donut! This is the perfect place for donut lovers. There are plenty of classic and unique flavors, all of which are delicious. Anytime I travel I try the highest rated doughnut shop. This one had good reviews so we decided to go! The guy behind the counter was so nice. We got half a dozen doughnuts to try. He recommended 3 and we picked another 3 for ourselves. We ordered brown butter glazed, blueberry bourbon basil, citrus olive oil and toasted almond streusel, Molly Ringwald, strawberry shortcake pop and original glaze. They donuts were all good but they weren't different. This place only fry's the dough then the puts different frosting or toppings on them. The flavors were different and unique but passed that the bread is all the same.. so it just tasted like I was eating the same thing when I tried a different flavor. My niece wanted donut, but I didn't want to go to chain donut place. I decided to check out Good Dough. I'm not a huge donut fan (I guess I gorged out on honey buns as a kid lol), but I was still excited to try these donuts. We decide to get three donuts to take a taste of some different options. We got the matcha, strawberry cheesecake, and the brown butter donuts. The texture of the donuts were dense which was nice. I felt that the strawberry cheesecake and brown butter was a little to sweet for me. The matcha was an interesting pair for a donut. I think I probably should have just gotten the original because I really enjoyed the donuts alone but the glaze and topping for me were a little too sweet, but again I'm not a big donut person. After a wonderful experience at Good Dough's Town Center location and now the San Marco location; I see why they say, "The Apple doesn't fall far from the tree." Sometimes when an expansion takes place one location may not be quite the same as the original but, based upon my experience - the character and quality of doughnuts and customer service are very similar.... Perfecto! During my visit to the San Marco location, I was surprised they were open on Christmas Eve. Slightly different hours (holiday hours) but, their doughnuts was worth the wait. Or, it may have been my friends that wouldn't let me forget to pick up Good Dough doughnuts for the Christmas Party. The staff was amazingly patient as I precisely selected each doughnut based upon the characteristics of each of my friends in which I nailed perfectly. So I decided to be extra for my birthday and decided on donuts instead of a cake. We got up early to hit Good Dough on a Saturday morning to get the goods before they were picked over. We split a guava in the store and took a dozen home with us. The guava was a cake donut with a guava glaze on top. It was very sweet but had a nice flavor and I liked the texture of the cake donut. We tried the lavender, Bill Murray, strawberry, cardamom sugar, Chinese five spice, butterscotch bacon, brown butter, chocolate glaze, crumbled cookie and strawberry bombs. All in all, the donuts were good but not mind blowingly good. First, the strawberry bombs must have been mislabeled because there were no strawberries in ours - it was more like a Boston creme donut. Most of them were yeast donuts and I probably tend to prefer a cake donut better. The flavors were all pretty good, but all of the flavor was in the glaze and nothing seemed to be in the actual donut itself. I think I may have liked them better if some of the flavors were worked into the dough and not just reserved for the glaze on top. There are fresh made with no preservatives, so the shelf life isn't very long. Don't buy a bunch and think they'll be just as good the next morning. Buy them intending to eat them pretty much immediately. I definitely appreciate fresh donuts and some interesting flavor combinations. I would like to check out some different flavors and will probably lean more towards the cake vs yeast donuts. read more

I was on my way to work from a doctor's consultation and driving down Hendricks when it hit me...I'm having such a good day so far, why not stop by Good Dough for some doughnuts? I've been to the building before when I visited Aveda hair salon so I knew that I'd have to park in the back of the building. Finding a spot on a Tuesday morning around 8:15am was really easy and I just walked right in. Walking to the front you pass the windows on the right where you can see them in the process of making and baking the doughnuts which is cool. When you get to the counter all the doughnuts are behind glass and up close so you can look at them easily instead of way behind the counter. Each one was about $2.75 which is reasonable for what they're offering. I decided on getting two: the blueberry sorghum and the hibiscus old fashioned. When I got to work, I went in on the blueberry sorghum one. Omg, Jacksonville I get it. This is a very good and artfully crafted item. I learned from the website that they only use the highest quality of ingredients and their brioche dough is top notch. I bragged about my breakfast so hard that my coworkers got mad jelly. I felt bad so I ordered a dozen online to be picked up the following morning. I got every one something I'd think they'd like and brought it in. Guess what? They loved them! So disappointed. These babies look so much better than they taste and it is such a shame. As soon as I knew we would be in Jax I started bookmarking places we HAD to try while we were in town. Of the donut places around, Good Dough looked the most promising. I eagerly placed my order the day before for pick-up so I could ensure my selections were available. There is a parking lot behind the store and I was lucky to find a spot right away. There is an entrance in the back so you can walk right in. All the pre-orders are boxed and set on a table in the front. I walked on over to the table, picked up my box, and was on my way. I ordered the following, two of each: Dole Whip ($2.75 each) Blueberry Pancake ($5 each) Lemon Drop ($2 each) All three were so incredibly dry and stale. The donuts themselves were tasteless. The lemon drop was supposed to be filled with lemon curd, but the scarce filling did not do enough to provide sweet or tang. Such a bummer because I love tang and expected a pop considering the description. The dole whip was another miss. The donut was not a nice consistency to begin with and the topping was not flavorful enough to assist the flavorless vessel to which is was enrobed. The least offensive of the three was the $5 Blueberry Pancake layered donut. I guess this is comparable to a cronut at some other places. Perhaps that is where this part of my disappointment lies. The layered donut was not light and airy like I would have expected. There was also no crispness to the outside. It did taste pancake-y with the exterior and the maple syrup topper was cute, but the donut was just way too dense and the filling did not complement the exterior flavor. It hardly had any flavor and just made the dense donut even more heavy. Overall, everything just tasted so dry and flavorless. Stale almost, like day old donuts. I am confused by the rave reviews and had such high expectations considering the reputation and the price. Perhaps it was an off day. Next time we are in town we will likely try another donut spot. I really wanted to love these. I feel the three stars are generous considering the product and the price. This was a big $20 miss. read more

If you want to experience a different kind of donut, Good Dough may just be your spot. The eclectic environment is clean and inviting with a huge selection of gourmet, specialty donuts from which to choose. Upon arrival, your eyes quickly go to the colorful case of assortments. I was so excited I wanted to try them all, but opted for selecting a dozen to share. The donut attendant said that I would receive 10% off a full dozen. If you're excessive like me, that's probably your best bet. I was told some of the flavors change out monthly so they don't offer a set "menu" of donuts to take home, but it's a good idea to check social media to find out what's new if you're a regular or you have your favorites. It makes you want to sit in the window and watch passerbys all day while smelling the aroma of doughnuts being baked (or do they fry them?)...let me start at the beginning. It had a raspberry (is that p really necessary) frosted and sprinkled top...anyhow, we were headed to Wick to meet some friends so we all just tasted each one and definitely decided the Brown Butter was the BEST. They doughnuts themselves are basically the same, its the topping that makes it special. They were all out of the bacon by the time we got there, but I am definitely going to make it back for that one. They are located next door to where I get my facials, so I decided to pop in before one visit. Everything looked delicious, then I saw the breakfast sandwich and decided that's what I would get, but first, I needed to get to my appointment. Sent my husband for the pickup and called when this all happened. Spoke with Andy I believe, she was super nice and helpful and looking through everything as well as taking my number in case I was double charged (I heard the crowd and she still took her time and didn't rush our conversation). She also offered to box my order so my husband didn't have to wait in the line. Turns out he already made it through the long line pretty quickly and so it was not necessary. I guess it's about time I wrote this review, since I'm here once a week. I really like the vibe of this place and they have doughnuts so I love working form here on Friday mornings! (come say hi!) My office is really close so I can stop in for a few hours in the morning and get some work done before heading to the cube farm. I really love doughnuts, so this place was a welcome change from the standard coffee shops we have in town. These are doughnuts made is small batches and with really fresh, seasonal ingredients. They cost $2 - $3.75. My favorite standard flavors are Cardamom Sugar - a blend of white sugar and cardamom coated on a yeast doughnut, tastes like a chai latte and is a lighter option - and the Molly Ringwald - this is a raspberry glaze with natural sprinkles on a yeast doughnut, super sweet and delicious. I've tried a ton of the flavors and am partial to yeast, risen doughnuts. Here's a quick look at a few I've really enjoyed. S'mores (July Flavor) - this one is amazing!! If you spread the marshmallow all over to get it in all the bites and it's perfect. Yeast, chocolate glaze, graham cracker crumbles, toasted marshmallow topping. Bombs! PB&J (July), Nutella (June) - I love these lil guys! The PB&J one was filled with strawberry which I prefer to grape, so it was perfect. I made a mess with the Nutella one! Wear a bib. Always smaller yeast balls filled with a gooey center and sometimes topped with more gooey goodness. Spicy Chocolate (July) - I got this for a coworker and tried a teeny bit, I'm a wuss about spicy things! The chocolate must be a dark chocolate glaze because it is rich and wonderful, the spice hits you like pop-rocks and makes your tongue tingle! Cake, chocolate spicy glaze. Lemon Meringue (June) - This was the greatest doughnut of all time, ever!!! The lemon was just sour enough, the toasted meringue topped it wonderfully. Yeast, filled with lemon curd, topped with toasted meringue. BRING THIS BACK!!!! The coffee bar is always bumpin', too! I get lots of Chai lattes with almond milk and iced berry teas. They're always well mixed and have great flavor. They'll even put them in my cup, which I bring everywhere! (use less plastic!) Prices on coffee is average $2.35 - $4.25 and range from hot lattes to cold brews. Teas are around $3 and they have a variety of loose leaf and usually one already cold brewed for an iced option. The staff is super nice, the owners are really friendly and chat with people. There's space and toys for kids to stay busy and a window where you can see everything they are doing behind the scenes!
