A great place to calm down and relax. The service is great , the menu offers a variety, breakfast menu is available all day. Of all the Southern Grounds restaurants this is my favorite.

The most stunning Southern Grounds location in Jax! I love taking visitors here to show them some of Jax's best. The Avondale neighborhood boasts beautiful historical homes, delicious restaurants, and Spanish moss overhanging the walkable neighborhood. The Southern Grounds Avondale location is perfect for groups or solo dates. I've been here multiple times for a study session and had a few of their bowls, drinks, and pastries. After you've worked hard, you can play hard with a glass of wine or mimosa. They also have rotating specials that keep things exciting. The staff are kind and I never wait too long for my food. I love how there's plenty of seating and outlets throughout Southern Grounds. Sometimes it can get loud which I think is emphasized with the tall ceilings but nothing some headphones can't fix. Parking can also be sparse since the area is so popular. Whether you're stopping by in the morning for a coffee or in the evening for a glass of wine, you'll always find Southern Grounds has something for you.

Great Food & Vibes - Worth the Price We had a great experience at Southern Grounds! Yes, the prices are a bit on the higher side, but the quality of the food more than makes up for it. We ordered the Eggs Benedict and the California Bagel - both were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The bagel in particular was delicious - perfectly toasted with generous toppings. The matcha was meh. We went back a second time and it was delicious ! Definitely a spot worth revisiting!

An Avondale cafe with ample space, large food menu, and plenty beverages ranging from coffee to tea to wine. I keep it pretty simple when I order here, which usually entails a vanilla latte or a cold brew. The past few times I've visited I've been a little underwhelmed as the coffees are a bit watery for my liking. I'd enjoy a stronger brew where possible. I was also a little shocked that alt milk costs me $1.25 so today a medium iced latte costs me nearly $8, I personally feel like that's the most I've ever paid for an alt milk option. The food is great, I typically go for the oatmeal or avocado toast but my husband said their breakfast burrito is notable as well. They have a nice selection of baked goods, I enjoy their muffins and the lavender cookie is to die for. Overall, it's a great staple cafe in the area that has ample space for co-working, friend and family gatherings or just a quick bite. Service is quick and friendly so it's a great spot for no frills just cafe vibes and a quick bite.

Wow, this space is absolutely huge. A great spot to meet up with friends and catch up. Plenty of room to do so. Had the avocado toast and the salmon toast as well as a mimosa. All were delicious but nothing extraordinary. While I appreciate that sogro is locally owned I have always felt that their menu is overpriced. I'm happy to meet up with friends for a sip and yap but they're rarely my personal go to.

I believe a fitting description would be "The Taj Mahal of coffee shops." The first time I came here, I had to make sure I was in the right place, because no joke....I thought I walked into a posh, grandiose hotel lobby. Now don't get me wrong, this is by no means a "snob shop." This is a well-known, established business in the heart of Avondale. I could spend a good amount of time here parked on a comfy couch doing some people watching, daydreaming about winning the lottery, or stuffing my face. Speaking of which.... The Noms: From breakfast to brunch on over to lunch....they've got you covered. Come hungry. Those of you that are able to walk right past the mouthwatering desserts and pastries and order a salad....I applaud your restraint. Here are just 2 of my faves, and I have many.... The Eggnog Bourbon Cake: I wait EVERY YEAR for the holidays to come around so I can get my greedy little hands on this cake. I don't even bother waiting for this to come to room temp (it's served chilled), I just dive right in, last meal on earth style. The Chocolate Twist: Braided pastry with mini chocolate chips. Flaky on the outside, soft and creamy on the inside. Perfect with a cold glass of milk or a toasty hot chocolate. I got 2 on my last visit and ate them both as if they were calorie-free. Aside from the appetizing pastries, of course, there's a hearty assortment of coffee drinks, wines, gourmet sandwiches, healthier-fare options, Tartines, and even Steak Frittes. Southern Grounds Coffee Shop is indeed a sight to behold, and an experience to savor. So gather up your laptop or the besties and go show this awesome local business some love! Shoutout to the wonderful staff who are always so friendly and patient as I peruse the goodies of the day! Till next time, my fellow Yeeps, SUPPORT your local eats and businesses, and as always...SYOY!

It is so pretty & inviting inside the Avondale location! Pictures don't really do it justice. The staff were very friendly & my food came out quickly. I really enjoyed both my Eggs Benedict (allergy mod: no avocado) & Iced Chai Latte.

Grabbed a few sweet treats for my PTA mom friends. It was my first time there from hearing my mom saying the omelette was delicious but I didn't have time to grab one that time. The girl was new but she was helpful and sweet. Matcha Latte 4/10 Didn't taste any matcha at all and kinda watery Mexican Hot Chocolate Tart 5/10 Has a spicy kick after 2 bites. Love the tart crust and whip topping and mini chocolate chips Brown Bourbon Peach Cake 8/10 Loved everything about it. The cake was moist. The peach filling is just enough with the light and fluffy frosting. Loved the inside of the building. Different from any other coffee shops I been too especially the unique art pieces around.

    watery honey, ugly looking yogurt.

me and my best friend used to come here all the time last summer, it was the best place ever. good size foods, great smoothies, kind service, etc. but we came back a year later, the food was shrunken and more expensive, the yogurt wasn't even cold and tasted like sour cream. we tried to mix it to atleast make it taste better, it didn't work at all. the honey was watery, they gave us barely ANY fruit at all on top of it, and the guy up front had an ugly attitude. we are very disappointed and will not be coming back ever again. maybe only for the smoothies, but that's it. i dont recommend this place to anyone, atleast not anymore.

The cutest shop ever! Lots of study and work place! All forms of seating! The food is amazing and they have all you could think of, I prefer the lox bagel or the grit bowl! Even got it to go today, it was great! They are super quick despite being busy 24/7! 7 am is the prime time! They offer online orders if you're in a rush! I highly recommend! This is also the best location if you're trying to decide which shop to go to!

Come into Southern Grounds for some delicious pastries in Riverside Jax. The building is large and open good for working or just relaxing. The service is quick. You order at the counter and they bring you food. The pastries were amazing. You have to get the lavender almond bar. The bagel was okay. The coffee delicious and lots of flavors to choose from. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Jax.

Some restaurants surprise you with one great dish. Others deliver a memorable experience from start…read moreto finish. Our visit to Biscottis in Jacksonville's Avondale neighborhood managed to do both. We were greeted warmly when we arrived and seated immediately, and the atmosphere had a welcoming energy that made the restaurant feel like a true neighborhood gathering place. Susan ordered the Quiche Lorraine, and after the first bite we both knew it was something special. The crust was delicate and buttery while the filling was rich and perfectly balanced. It was so impressive that we awarded it our Culinary Duo Best of the Best dish recognition, which is something we reserve for truly standout dishes. Peter went in a different direction and ordered the Sweet Potato Pancakes with house made white cheddar hash browns. The pancakes were flavorful and comforting, and the hash browns were crispy with bold cheddar flavor that made them impossible to stop eating. Another thing we appreciated was learning that Biscottis carries the Slow Food First Coast Snail of Approval, recognizing restaurants that support sustainable agriculture and local food traditions. The service throughout the visit was cheerful and attentive, and the staff seemed genuinely happy to be there. If you enjoy restaurants that combine great brunch dishes, incredible desserts, and a lively neighborhood atmosphere, Biscottis is definitely worth visiting.

Pretentious and overrated…read more I wanted to like this place - it has such a hype. But the food is terrible. The burger is greasy/wet, it is drenched in a bland cheese sauce, the meat is underseasoned, and the patty has no sear. Definitely not worth anything near the $21 cost. The salmon BLT is served on bread that is cut so thick you're mostly just eating old/stale bread, and the sandwich is also greasy. Their french fries come drenched in a disgusting garlic oil and cheap grated parmesan. It's bad cooking dressed up to look fancy without any understanding of the basics. The restaurant fits as well. Its ugly artwork is accompanied by furniture that looks like it was ripped out of a Le Pain Quotidien. The cakes look amazing, and the bar is nicely designed and well stocked, but neither saves the drab surrealist-cafeteria vibe of this pretentious establishment.

Breakfast anyone?…read more On this Mother's Day all I wanted was some coffee and something yummy for my belly. So we all got in the car and headed to Avondale for The Fox Restaurant. When you walk up it's a cute small restaurant that packs a mighty punch with their decor, vibe and the menu. Normally the line is pretty long to get it but it moved quickly. While in line I was greeted by the owner Ian. He was so friendly and charismatic. He sat me down as I waited for my husband and kid to join and handed me a nice hot coffee which was soooooo good! The restaurant is decorated with all vintage art work and hand drawn art work from patrons. As well as different signs with funny phrases. My favorite was sign said " If you are grouchy, irritable or just plain mean, there will be a $10 charge for putting up with you". Hahah I read it to my son because he tried to get mad about his dad taking forever to get the tablet out the car lol. Now back to the food! I had the French toast, with eggs over medium, turkey sausage and fruit. Everything was so good! I also caught a glimpse of their biscuits and I will definitely be back to try them. Besides the excellent service there I like that my Togo items were in a bag that said "Eat Local, Eat Often". I try to buy local as much but more importantly I love being able to support a local business as well as something that is a staple in the community. If you're even in Avondale or you're thinking of breakfast make sure you go to The Fox Restaurant!

Ultimately, I decided to sample the bacon, egg, and cheese wrap. It was quite good. I believe they used a cheddar that was a bit strong for my taste and would have preferred some milder cheese options (like provolone). Regardless, it was tasty. My only complaint (and this may be specific to me) is that they did not have a cola flavored diet drink to offer. Yes, I admit, I need my Diet Coke with my meal. So, I had to walk around the corner and find a place to sell me a soda. Other than that, a great option for a meal.
