A tale of two points of view. Today I came to Good Dough for donuts....and they had no donuts . I was less than pleased however not to be grumpy to start my weekend I decided I would have one of the delicious looking cinnamon buns and I was far from disappointed. All the things you'd want from a decadent pastry...dense and doughy, perfectly glazed and packed with gooey cinnamon. This was the breakfast I didn't know I wanted but that I needed. It's a bummer, Good Dough was one of our favorite places for a weekend breakfast. The coffee was very good, and the donuts were large, fresh, and always featuring unique seasonal flavors - though the butterscotch bacon was a year round favorite. They were also very welcoming to kids, with very kind service. Lately, however, it seems like they have given up on the rotating, seasonal menus, and the donuts just seem less fresh and less plentiful in variety and in how much stock. It also seems like there has been a lot more turnover in staff, and the restaurant itself seems a little less orderly and clean. Hopefully they can turn things around. read more

Cute little shop in Jax. I ordered a variety of their donuts for my work office. All of my coworkers enjoyed the pecan pie donut the most. I love when bakeries have seasonal flavors! Great little local donut shop! Despite being a small store in San Marco, Good Dough really does donuts right. The employees were all super sweet as well, which made the experience even better. I tried the Brown Butter ($3.49) which was incredibleeee - the flavor was sweet but not too sweet, and the fluffy inside was perfection. I also got the Fried Chicken Doughwich ($9.50) which was yummy but too difficult to eat with my hands or the flimsy plastic forks and knives they have. I would probably pass on it in the future and try a different Doughwich. The Ham, Egg, and Cheese Doughwich ($8.50) was simple but delicious (and much easier to eat!). They had a drink special that they considered their version of a non-alcoholic mimosa (fancy orange juice with lemonade lol) and it was tasty! Bright and sweet. My main suggestion for Good Dough is to make the eating experience better with better utensils and napkins! The Fried Chicken Doughwich could have used some real silverware and all of the delicious donuts make more of a mess than cocktail napkins can handle! Can't wait to be back for more! read more

This was my first visit. I've had their donuts before when they did a drop-off near me so I knew how yummy they are. I knew I had to try the Fried Chicken Doughwich at this visit. Y'all, this sandwich was fantastic! The donut was delicious of course but the fried chicken blew me away. It's buttermilk-marinated & beer-battered, so it was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I totally forgot from reading the menu in advance that the sandwich comes with hot sauce. I decided to try a bite with it before removing it. While it was too hot for me unfortunately, it was had a great unique flavor. Came in on a weekday morning and was immediately welcome. The space has a clean look. There were lots of different options from St. Patrick Day festivities. I opted for the matcha vanilla and coffee. Can I give 6 stars? WOW! I went to Good Dough with the intention of getting dessert. Since it was lunchtime and I found myself suddenly famished, I thought I'd try a sandwich. I ordered the Fried Chicken Doughwhich. LOOK AT THIS SANDWICH! Since I hadn't read the description thoroughly (my bad), I was a little surprised when the fried chicken came out on a donut DRIPPING with heavenly glaze. Then I bit in. Oh my goodness. The fresh doughnut was perfect, and the sweet glaze melded perfectly with the fried-just-right chicken. The combination was absolutely delectable, and I may have moaned audibly. The only "downside" of this sandwich was that it was so filling, I didn't have room for dessert. (I had been warned of this.) I also ordered a shakerito, which was a perfect complement. All of this was ordered from a truly charming woman that genuinely seemed to love her work. I will definitely be back. I think I'll have to try everything on the lunch and dessert menus. read more

So here I am, it's my workiversary, and I've been craving donuts all week, and here I remember "Good Dough has vegan donuts on Fridays, but do they deliver?" I opened up the doordash app to discover that they do, in fact, deliver, but an issue arise. No vegan donuts were available on the app! I panicked. I thought maybe they no longer sell vegan donuts. I thought supply and demand. Was I not demanding enough donuts for them to keep the sale happening? I called them immediately. I visited Good Dough on National Donut Day with my wife and infant son, as the marketing got to me and put me in the mood for a donut (granted, I'm usually in the mood for a donut...). I stopped by once before and enjoyed what I had, so I wanted to branch out a bit on my second visit. We ordered a half dozen, but note that their donuts are priced individually. There are no discounts for buying a half dozen or full dozen. The half dozen we bought was $18 plus tax, which is quite a bit. Granted, some of their donuts are labor intensive and the rent in San Marco can't be cheap, but that's a lot for donuts that to me, are good, not excellent. Their raised donuts are all basically the same with a different topping. The donuts themselves are mildly sweet and have a chewy texture, which in my experience, is fairly common at a hipster donut shop like Good Dough. If you're into a chewy raised donut, this place could be your heaven. For a cake donut guy like me, it's aiight. For raised donuts, we ordered a Homer (strawberry glaze), Mangonada, milk chocolate, and an original glaze. Of these, the Homer and original glaze were the best. The milk chocolate had a mild taste and I'm not into mango, but your tastes may differ. I ordered a blueberry cake donut, which was the star of the show for me with its muffin like texture and pleasantly sweet taste. An old-fashioned milk cookie cake donut was sweet and tasty, but had an unusually chewy texture for a cake donut. If you're into chewy, raised donuts with trendy toppings, Good Dough is your spot. The staff is friendly and pleasant, and the store itself is very clean and has a lot of space to hang out while you enjoy a donut and a coffee. I always get a glazed donut any time I try a donut shop as a sort of baseline, and man this place has a SOLID glazed donut. It's chewy, light, and airy. And the glaze isn't overly sweet at all, which is great for me. I loved it! The brown butter on the other hand was WAY too sweet for me.
