There were a good 20+ emails back and forth as I made one inquiry and contract and then had to follow-up with another for rental items that would hopefully help the guests ordering at the food truck we had outdoors at our wedding this past weekend. One of those items was a number of string lights which they also set-up and took down for an additional fee. When I noted that I wasn't sure about the height of the food truck and if the lights could go above it, Daniel took the initiative to research the average food truck height and satellite images of our venue. He put together some mock photos of the lighting hung from a nearby tree and reassured me that his team would figure it out and make it work the day of. Had the worst experience ever! Contacted Good Events for a small graduation party ( 4 table, 20 chairs and 1 tent). Items brought were okay for what was needed, thought the tops for water containers holding the tent in place were missing tops to hold water in. When making order online, there was no "take down" service item to add to cart and was charged a fee because tables and chairs weren't in the same exact place the gentlemen left them when dropped off. The lady that contacted me for payment was extremely rude and I had a very hard time communicating with her, along with the gentlemen that delivered the products. Thankfully I had someone that could speak Spanish when time of delivery. Would NEVER use this company again, total lesson learned. Needed to rent chairs and linens for a backyard wedding. Good events had really good prices. They also had the chairs and color linens I wanted. Placing an order and payment was very easy. Contract was easy to read the price breakdown wasn't confusing. I changed the color linens because my decor wouldn't have stood out and it was very easy to adjust that. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is there was 2 oil stains on the linens. I was able to cover it with my decor so that was ok. Also I picked delivery time slot 8 am to 12 pm and they literally came at 12 pm to deliver. Which is fine but I was like are they coming? I had to call to make sure. Also on pick up day our time frame again was 8am to 12pm but this time it was already 12:39pm and no one came. I had to call to found out the status. We tried contacting Good Events a few weeks before our wedding to make sure our order was was good to go. However, Good Events refused to respond to our voicemails, emails, and direct messages. The ironic thing is that we were charged a 30% cancellation fee. We had no idea Good Events was even open due to the company's zero communication with their client. My wife and I just completed out son's 1st birthday party and it was a huge success!! We deal with the husband and wife - Anna and Otto. Anna answered all the calls and was the face of the operation. I had submitted an inquiry online and Anna invited my wife, son, and I over to her house to see her inventory of things available to rent. We rented 8 tables (big enough for 10 people), 80 chairs, table cloths, a snow cone maker, and a bounce house. Paid a total of about $550. Throughout the process, I did not feel nickle-and-dimed. Anna was professional and worked with us and our budget. Anna also threw in syrup, straws, cups, and bag of free ice with the snow cone machine. Also, because we lived 3 miles from their headquarters, they waived the delivery fee. GREAT SERVICE on the front end!! We were looking to rent some some kid-sized tables and chairs for my son's birthday and Good Events had them! And, in multiple colors (bonus!). We rented two of the 4-ft tables and 12 yellow chairs (so cute!!) to match the theme of the party. The rental process was very easy by making a reservation via phone and then approving a professional email invoice and making payment via PayPal. We had a small order so made arrangements to pick up and drop off the rentals on our own, but otherwise they have a delivery service, as well. Updating review to reflect a response to Otto. You were absolutely 100% late on both days and I had to call both days to see where your delivery drivers were. Twenty minutes late is still late. If you show up at 1:20pm, it's not between 10:00am-1:00pm, correct? This time was never changed so what's your excuse other than lying and saying you weren't late? Perhaps that's why you were late, you need help understanding time? If you can't handle delivering all over the Bay Area on time, perhaps you shouldn't advertise that you can. I didn't mention times earlier because I didn't think I needed to ding you any further. What last minute changes are you referring to? I called on Friday to make a request for SUNDAY that your company agreed to. The change was early enough to be reflected in an updated contract we signed off on when you delivered the rentals late to My event on Saturday. Might want to check your paperwork! If you could not accommodate the change, then why give me a new time window? Again, you chose the new time. Fighting your customers over Yelp? Yep, I'm sure customers are going to read your responses and think, "I can't wait to rent from a company who can't accept any fault and publicly fights with their customers online. Again, you did not show up between 1:00-6:00pm on Sunday. I finally left the venue at 6:45pm and your delivery person STILL WAS NOT THERE. I never even received a call saying they were going to be late. This is a waste of my whole Sunday, as your drivers never showed up. Not sure how or why you don't understand that. You are 100% wrong in this situation and this could have been repaired by an apology. I hope your customers will learn that Good Events will take absolutely no responsibility when they mess up. They give large delivery windows and don't bother to show up. They were late dropping off my rentals on the day of my event and extremely late picking them up the day after. I had to call both times and ask where they were. Both days we were given large delivery/pickup windows (3-5 hours) and they couldn't even bother to pick up the phone to call me and tell me they would be late both days. Keep in mind, they are located in Hayward and our event was in Union City, there really was no excuse for delays. When they were late with delivery, my husband asked if they could please be earlier for the next day pickup to which they replied, "we'll try." For our pickup, we were given a pickup window from 1:00-6:00pm. We sat at our event venue (which was not our home) and waited for 5 hours. At around 3:00pm I called Good Events to see if maybe they could give us a more accurate time frame, but of course no one answered. When 6:00pm came and went I called and no answer again. They called me back and told me they had "trouble with deliveries both yesterday and today." Ok, and you couldn't have picked up the phone either day to let us know? She then told me her delivery person would be here at 5:15pm. Lady, it's already passed 6:00pm! She finally told me I could leave the items out front and leave since her delivery drivers wouldn't arrive until at least 6:30pm. 1. I'm pregnant, so I'm not lifting 30 chairs and 5 tables by myself, and 2. If leaving them was an option in the first place, I would have had someone come by and help me do that at 1:00pm instead of wasting my whole Sunday waiting for Good Events not to show up. At 6:30pm, I received a voicemail from the same woman at Good Events, stating that they were not making 6:30pm, and actually had no idea what the delivery driver's ETA was. She also stated that I had changed my delivery time. Yes, on Friday, I called and asked if they had any pickup windows other than 7:00am-10:00am since our event wasn't taking place at our home and I needed to make sure someone was available to be there for pickup. Good Events chose the 1:00-6:00pm timeframe and I agreed, even though it meant that I was now going to wait around for 5 hours for them to show up. If they couldn't make any other time work, I would have been there at 7:00am, although I doubt they would have made that time frame either. Again, my updated contract even states the rental pickup window was 1:00-6:00pm, so I have no idea what mentioning this in a voicemail had to do with anything. Especially a voicemail where you're telling me that you have no idea when your driver will be here to pickup your rentals and your company chose the pickup time? Yes, instead of apologizing let's attempt to blame the customer for a time change chosen by your company. Awesome customer service. We plan tons of events in my family and I plan events for work. I didn't book my rentals until a couple of weeks before the wedding :/ lots of places don't really have everything I needed.
