There is also a local CSA pickup (Good Food Collective) and a cooking demo/sample each week. It's fun to go and browse. I usually don't buy much because it's a little pricey but I usually find 1-2 good items within my price range.

There was plenty of local vendors selling many veggies, some fruits, honey (and lip balm), pasta, grass fed animal meats and several bakeries including a gluten free one. There is free parking on the street and in the lot across from the market. There is also a table where people with EBT and credit/debit cards can exchange their money for tokens since none of the vendors will not take card. Considering that this is my first visit, I do plan on stopping by more often so I hope there will be more vendors in the future.

Peacework Farm is located in Newark, that is where the crops are grown. I was only involved in this CSA for one year, but it was a great experience and would recommend it to anyone who loves their organic veggies, is interested in knowing where their food comes from, or is interested in investing in a local farm. (There are only two reasons why I did not participate again after the first year and those are the same reasons why I haven't participated in any other local CSA-- first of all you get a lot of veggies, even if you get a half share-- normally this would be awesome but I have a small sized fridge and each week the haul would over flow it. The other reason is that I am not around as much in the summer to pick up my share. Neither reason reflects poorly on GVOCSA... in fact that is a testament to how large your pick up will be.) GVOCSA requires members to participate in a few farm-work and distribution shifts during the season. This might not be for everyone, but I thought it was cool to help harvest the vegetables and to get a closer look at the farm operation. The type of work you will do varies depending when you go during the season. The distribution shifts are pretty simple-- you go to Abundance and help prepare the vegetables to be picked up. That part is pretty easy, just some weighing and bagging. The spread of vegetables you get is great. I learned to love some new greens through this CSA. The season is 26 weeks. The price looks steep initially, but if you break it out by week it is not too bad, especially when you consider what the same volume of organic veggies would cost you at Wegmans. The quality of the produce you will get from here is really great, if you work a sorting shift at the farm you will see what I mean. A lot of care is put into getting the vegetables from the farm to the members in great condition. I think the main difference for GVOCSA versus other local CSAs is that they have the member participation. Also, everyone I came in contact with through the CSA was really nice, so you can count on working your few shifts with some great people. I love the fresh produce and Amazing Grains. The cronuts (sp) are just delicious. I was so bumed when the lettuce farmers were not there this year. I always got my leaf lettuce there. But there is another gentleman raising and selling lettuce since the other has gone. I am trying to find his name as I would like to get in contact with him. He had the stall on the corner of the first isle in from the side street. If you have his name and a phone number I would love to have it. The market is not huge but that is what I like about it. Quite a few of the vendors have a small selection of sub par quality veggies and are literally selling stuff out of the trunk of their car. Why buy questionable stuff here when the public market downtown also runs on Saturday and has longer hours with better stuff? My advice is to skip the Fairport Market and go spend your money somewhere else.

You can either pick your own strawberries or buy some that are already picked, which is what we did. They also sell their own jams, local pickles, and other goodies. We couldn't resist trying the strawberry shortcake, and oh my, a true taste of summer on the Summer Solstice! The biscuits are homemade right there on the farm (yes, I bought some to take home), and everything was absolutely scrumptious. Just a heads up, if you're paying by credit card, there's a $15 minimum. And if you're going to pick your own, bring cash or a check. Honestly being cash...unless you are coming to buy pre picked flats of fruit.. They also grow blueberries, raspberries, sweet cherries, and peaches when in season, so we'll definitely be back! It's about a 30-minute drive from Rochester, through beautiful farmland and lovely homes. I even heard the bells of a nearby church it added the perfect touch to the whole experience. They have a parking lot, and it's all just very charming. Support local!

We went early saturday morning hoping to beat the rush and the summer heat. Upon arrival we were…read morethe first ones there woohoo then it went downhill. We walked to the patch and it was picked over pretty good. We saw bunch of guys in the field prior to opening to the public and perhaps picked them over pretty good. We stopped by the stand and they had massive strawberries!! We managed to fill our containers (none close to that quality) after awhile but seemed like every 3-4 plants one had a good medium size strawberry, most were tiny with a few rotten bigger ones and eaten/fungus mixed in. Got home and tried a few 'good' ones and they were very watery , not very flavorful. Prices were more than expected (internet research) and for the not so good quality of berries. First time strawberry picking, it looked like decent little farm just wish the berries were better and more plentiful. The ladies were nice. Might try another berry patch next time closer to home.

Went to return a dead plant. I bought it a few weeks ago and tossed the plastic pot it came in …read more The manager gave me a hard time because he said that needed that pot to make the return . Really??? So you find it odd that a customer would replace the cheap pot and place the plant in a nicer one and just hold onto the garbage pot it came in. He was not going to let it go, so I said" fine, but ll be documenting this lack of customer service online. At that point, he said I could exchange it. I went to look and got some other kind of plant. The cashier then said to said manager " shouldn't she have to get the same kind of plant? " I was totally taken aback by the rudeness of the employees there. He ultimately allowed me to get the plant I selected. It will be a long time if ever , before I them give them any business.

Everything else inside is way overpriced as compared to the Rochester Farmers Market. They were not nearly as sweet as the ones at ROC Farmers Market. Unless you need to I would say this place is a pass/tourist trap.
