Beware of the expiration dates on everything. I saw a couple expired items during my visit. Customer service is not great. The girl that helped me was kind of rude. After I paid, she asked in Mandarin if I wanted a bag of longans, which was sitting near the bagging station, so I thought she meant it's a promo they're having since I spent over $50, so I asked if there was a charge and she just laughed in a condescending way. I just thought it was a random incentive for spending 'x' amount since most Asian markets do that. I was just confused because why did she ask after I paid for everything... Interesting... Mold x3. Zero stars. Stay away. I walked in and i get a whiff of a moldy smell. Must be coming from the ventss or the fan that blows air. Once you're further into the store the smell isn't as strong. Chow mein noodles in refrigerated section to the back left of the store. Yellow noodles in a clear bag with red and blue writing. MOLD. MOLDY X2. I took a bag to the register and saw the mold. So i went back to grab another bag. MOLD again. Upon searching through the batch, they were all moldy. The blue green fury kind of mold. Gross. So check this out. I went back last week just for hot pot mushrooms. MOLD! Check out my pictures. When was the last time you bought these mushrooms and saw this white stuff? (Ive included mushrooms from h mart as well for comparison) Also, i noticed in the dumpling section where the shau mai and xlb are, the top layer isn't frozen. Check it out for yourself. My family came by to check out this new supermarket on the corner of Lower Azusa and Temple City Blvd. It's a small market next to House of Mandarin Noodle and the donut shop. The parking lot is not very big, but since the traffic was low, there were quite a few parking spots. I had gone to the market before Metro Super Market a few times before, and I think they did a really good job of revamping it. It looks more spacious and much more like an Asian supermarket. The price of the produce and fruits are pretty cheap, but there aren't too many to choose from. I did see the workers restocking the vegetables, so there's always a fresh supply. The meat and fish station also looked very clean, and there were many workers standing behind eagerly awaiting to help the customers. The prices aren't too different from markets such as 99 Ranch, and the prices even match or beat the prices of the lowest Asian markets around, which is good since Metro will probably want to draw new business. They even have a quick fast Chinese food inside of the restaurant to the right where they have combinations of food - 2 different dishes for $3, xiao long bao, etc. The food there looked okay, but not very fresh; however, it's nice to have a choice of quick fast food to-go nearby. All in all, I have to say that Metro has good variety with prices that match or even beat other supermarkets nearby. They don't have as many variety as other supermarkets, but they do have the essentials. They also take credit card! read more

Came here a couple of times and glad there's a Chinese market that opened not too far from me. Other closest one to me is 99 Ranch in Arcadia. Though this market is a lot smaller than 99 Ranch, it's convenient and you don't have to deal with the parking traffic and the numerous amount of people. The couple of times I've been here, I had no trouble whatsoever with parking and being in line to buy things. I've never had to wait to checkout and it was a quick in and out shopping for groceries compared to shopping at the always-so-busy 99 Ranch and the tough-to-find parking. As I had mentioned before, this place is relatively small. You'll find your usual Asian food and seafood/meat selection as you would find at places like 99 Ranch and 168 Market but selection here is very limited and the American selection can be just as expensive as you would find in other Asian markets. Price wise is a bit cheaper compared to the other markets. If you love snacks, you should come here to get it. I usually get peanuts, aloe vera, and chicken wings here. There aren't a lot of selections with veggies/fruits so I don't tend to buy them here. This place also has an indoor food court but I have yet to order food from there. Metro super market has really revamped themselves a few years ago to be quite a decent market. This super market is much smaller than its competitors within San Gabriel valley, but I personally enjoy coming here when I just need some essentials. This market has a decent selection of vegetables, sauces, and marinades. But their most popular item that I come here most often for is.... their Shabu shabu meats!!! YES! They sell their meat in large trays and it's a rather large portion but the prices are OH SO GOOD! Their meat also tastes fresh and the pieces are sliced pretty thick as well so it's such a plus! This market doesn't always have everything I need, for example if I'm shopping for hotpot they don't have the assorted fish ball fridge like some other markets, but this market is definitely on my list of places to go, specifically for the meat!! Their Galbi beer short ribs are also reasonably priced as well and is SO MUCH CHEAPER than h-mart/ 99 ranch!!! Also... due to Covid-19, I think they're providing a curbside pickup service. I'm not sure how it works, but last time I was here I saw the workers grabbing items off a list on an iPad and placing it into a cart and bringing it to a customer. You'd have to inquire about that if that's something you're interested in... but I thought it was amazing they offered this service ! read more

Decided to check out this market with Mom since they were advertising a lot of the slice lambs on the Asian Channels (esp., for the hot pot, wintery season). I've passed by this place many times on my way to Home Depot, and was pleasantly surprised by this little market. Parking: Spacious! They're also right next to House of Mandarin Noodles and across fr Olympic Donuts in the same parking lot. Restrooms: This is 5 stars itself! Generally, Asian supermarket restrooms are nasty and cramped, but the Women's Restroom here is spacious, well stocked and clean!!! They even have an outlet in the handicapped stall - you can charge your phone in case you'll be in there longer, lol! Located in the Fast Food area. As for the market itself... Even though we didnt buy the lamb sliced, we ended up buying sliced Kobe beef for whenever we want out Pho Kobe fix. Mom loves Pho Kobe at Saigon Eden in San Gabriel, and so bam - we bought ourselves a tray of it at $8.99lbs, what a steal! This market is definitely a good place to come and buy sliced meats for hot pot meals. Mom also got 2 packets of salted duck eggs to make her Chinese tamales (banh chung) with, and a packet of Korean rice cakes. They also have an in house Chinese fast food area. They sell BBQ roasted pork and ducks as well food to go, or you can eat it there too. Tables are setup there for customers - clean and private, and sometimes, you'll see the workers eat there too. We ended up getting half a pound of sliced pork ear to go. It was delicious!!! The sliced pork ears were marinated perfectly, tender and gelatinous! We should've ordered a pound, but we were worried that it might be too spicy hot since majority of the meals there were spicy hot. However, we now know better! The veggies and produce selections here are cheap, but not much of a wide selection. However, if you're looking for the basic fruits and veggies, this place will fit your needs. They also got a nice selection of meats and seafoods, but we didn't buy any since we went shopping last week. Overall, this was a nice little market to check out. Our first trip bought us $46 worth of food, and we'll definitely back here next time around. read more

Recently reopened super market - Not too big but has a decent selection of asian and western goods to run in and run out. Small butcher/seafood section - your average prices. Pretty good sized parking lot. A pretty good produce section. Limited refrigerated and dairy sections. In the corner of the store they have a hot line with food. ...fried fish, sweet n sour, dumplings with edamame, hot n sour...bao...boba.. There are a few tables to eat at. Quick service place looks pretty clean. Dumplings and sweet & sour was pretty good for the price. Very cheap and economical lunch deals here. The ladies are friendly working here. Probably not so much of a destination one stop shop like Ranch 99 but a good option for marketing for a night's meal. read more

This is a very small local asian market. They have a lot of the same things that you would find at a Ranch 99 or 686 Market. However there are some significant differences. This place is very conveniently located. Therefore that is a huge advantage. However that is offset to me by a few things. This includes pricing that is ridiculously expensive when compared to any other market nearby. On top of that, I felt that this market was rather dirty and substandard on the cleanliness scale. Haphazardly stacked items some smashed fruits and veggies or seemingly broken drinks here n there having dripped or spilled over days gone by. I came in really quick to grab a soda. The total was $1.44 and I gave the cashier $20.45 then she gave me $0.01 change back. I told her that I gave her a $20 and she looked at me like I was crazy. She then went and counted ALL the money in her drawer to go calculate it only to find that the room in the back was locked so she couldn't get the final numbers. She refused to give me my $19 back. She then went ahead and said that she wasn't sure if I was lying or not. So I ended up paying $20.45 for a single bottle of coke. This is so wrong. She's supposed to give me my money back yet she refused and said I was lying? Excuse me?? She was a little empty in the head to begin with. She was on her phone then when I told her I gave her $20 she didn't even respond till the cashier in the other register repeated what I said. I liked this place a couple years ago when they had chinese fast food and drinks. Now their food service counter is empty but yet the kitchen is still being used for I don't know what. I would check back every once in a while to see if they would reopen for business, but nope. The market is small and the variety and freshness of produce is limited. Worse cashier employee ever ( young one) thats has clown makeup... the female attitude is too bzy with her headset on ignoring n not paying attention scans the items and drops a bottle onto the eggs n cracks the eggs. When i told her she ignored me. Then when i told her to becareful .. she apologized and then said " it did not break" when i pointed to her . She said well you can go exchange it. Why?? We saw its ad in a local Chinese newspaper and came to check out the store. First it's located at the intersection of Lower Azusa Road and Temple City Boulevard and is difficult to get in and out. The parking lot has a good number of spaces but it is dangerous to pull out. You have to watch out for cars coming into the lot, people pulling out of their spaces, and shoppers pushing their carts every where. Inside the store, items are packed into isles with unit price displayed clearly. There are good selections of vegetables priced comparable to other bigger stores. There is an area located at the back selling roast ducks, roast pork, cooked chicken, and other cooked food items for take out. We bought a roast duck which is about $4 cheaper than other places. The quality is quite good. There is a meat section and seafood section with ample choices of meat. We bought hand made dumplings with pork and bok choi at $13.99 for 50 pieces. At the checkout, we got 2 lb of oranges free because our total purchase exceeded $10. The store is smaller but it's well stocked with produce, meat, and dried goods. read more

Love the meats from this place! Super cheap and great quality meats for hot pot or for the grill at home type dinner. This is our go to for meats, better than other markets around the area. Cruel to the live fish and turtles they sell. This is by far the dirtiest, unfresh, sad excuse for a chinese market. Some of the items on the shelf are dusty, they have to-go food that tasted horrible, and PETA would flip out about the live food they sell. Holly hallibut it smelled like rotting fish not fresh fish. The tanks that keep the fish alive are foggy and appear to have fecal matter, fish flesh bits, scales, and a few floaters. The ones that are alive have open gashes on their skin. The already dead ones put on ice smell. Bad. One way to tell if a fish is good is to look at its gills. The lighter the gills are from normal pink red, the less fresh the fish is. 70% of the fish i saw had faint pink. What really upset me is the single soft shell turtle they were selling. He was in a FILTHY dry tank with no water and as of Aug 2014 it is BONE DRY. Little humidity. The turtle was barely alive with flies landing on him and his skin was not moist, although his underside was moist with his own secretions. I know he is sold as food but he deserves some dignity before dying. At least 99 ranch market puts all their live food in proper containments. I do not support sorry excuses for markets like this. read more

Recently opened, next door to the House of Mandarin Noodle restaurant. The parking lot is small, but most of the time it's easy to find parking. At first it's easy to miss because traffic moves so fast on both cross streets, and there's a very tall donut shop on the corner blocking the view. Metro Supermarket is a fresh, clean, and affordable neighborhood alternative to the pricier Asian markets like 99 Ranch. Employees are very helpful, and always have time to answer your questions. They have a wide variety of fruits, vegetables and a full service meat section, with live fish in aquariums. Towards the back right corner (Easy to miss) they have a Chinese fast food takeout place with tasty classics like tomato w/ egg, kung pao chicken, curry potatoes, etc. Also comes with rice or noodles, and a bowl of hot soup. Lots of tropical drinks to choose from like watermelon, taro, mango, lots of fruit smoothies, banana split shake, and boba milk tea. Give each one a try! This place is one of Temple City's many hidden treasures. read more

I only go to this place for their to-go take out. Their chinese peking duck and roasted pork with rice is delicious. It's a hole in the wall, but it's affordable and worth trying. It is a grocery store, but if you walk in then go towards the right, you'll see the to-go counter. My family used to go to Sam Woo for their duck and pork, but after my parents discovered this place I can't stop raving about it. Their duck is definitely less fatty than other places. read more
