    The tropical bowl with mango
    Chinyere E.

I tried a poke bowl from Good Friends Hawaiian Poke, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it stood out from a lot of poke I've had before. From the moment I opened it, everything just looked fresh and vibrant. You could tell they don't cut corners with their ingredients. The fish was super tender, clean-tasting, and really high quality not overly fishy at all, just fresh and flavorful in the best way. Every bite felt intentional, like everything in the bowl actually belonged together. What really made it stand out though was how refreshing it was. The combination of the cool fish, crisp cucumbers, creamy avocado, and perfectly seasoned rice just hit. It wasn't heavy or greasy at all, but it still filled me up. It's one of those meals where you finish it and feel satisfied but not weighed down, which I love. The flavors were balanced really well too. The sauces added just enough flavor to bring everything together without overpowering the natural taste of the fish. Nothing felt too salty or too much it was just right. Overall, it was super yummy, fresh, and honestly one of the most refreshing meals I've had in a minute. If you're looking for something light but still flavorful and filling, this place definitely delivers.

Tried this new location out for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I love the wall art. I ordered the Poké bowl with the salmon bomb and spicy salmon, tropical style. Love all the sides it comes with especially the crab, avocado, and sunomono. I really want to try the one with mango next. Staff are always friendly. Everything was so fresh.

I was sooooo happy that my all time poke place opened a second location in town. Moved out of Davis but every time I pass by or am in the area I opt coming back again and again. ALWAYS high quality and delicious. Tons of pre marinated tuna and salmon to choose from. My all time favorite is the California salmon and spicy salmon with Delilah's style. Staff are always super welcoming, friendly and helpful when it comes to the menu. Few tables to sit at but also looks like they are still working on some renovations inside. If you haven't tried, I would HIGHLY recommend. This place is definitely my favorite ever.

got the zesty salmon wrap and it was so good, lots of crab and very filling. there was a lot of salmon as well, and the flavors all did well together. I also liked how the cucumber was marinated/sweet pickled. Definitely debatable whether to get a wrap or bowl but the wrap was not a bad choice at all. my friends got chicken teriyaki rice bowl (good) and spam musubi (average and not worth cost) My one complaint is that I was about to bite in and I saw white string sticking out of my wrap, super alarming imo and made me rethink coming back. Knocked it down a star for me. Workers go out of their way to be nice, inside was a bit crowded on the weekend so food took 5+ minutes but there was seating available. The layout of the line is not great but you get used to it.

My fat indulgent self enjoyed this large spicy tuna wrap. Never had a wrap from Good Friends Downtown before so cannot compare, but for $3 cheaper than their bowls, the wrap was fair and on par. Took a little while to get my food after ordering, but employees were friendly and place was clean. Would come back. Good fish, quality food.

I am a huge fan of good friends and wanted to try out their new location. It is located in a super lively plaza with many other restaurants. It wasn't hard to find parking around 7pm. I got a Poké bowl with sweet oyster ahi and spicy ahi. I liked the spicy ahi, but the onion flavor in sweet oyster ahi was too overwhelming for me. There are seatings inside and outside. Service was super quick and friendly.

Loved this place, right across from Fluffy Fluffy Cafe, same area with Trader Joe's shopping center. This is Good Friends Poke second location, we usually go to their first location Downtown Davis. I liked the parking here, lots more to park here especially if you go early, now to the food! We ordered the Poke Bowls with White Rice, and our two proteins were the California Salmon- I love how fresh the fish were, well seasoned, and the loaded toppings was free for the first 50 customers, so we were able to try the Tropical Style Toppings: Seaweed salad, cucumbers, surimi crab, wonton chips, avocado, masago, furikake, spicy mayo, and unagi sauce. The owner and workers were so nice and on it. We got free drinks for being there for Grand Opening Week, we will be back!

Really good wrap -- fresh ingredients, great flavor, and packed really well. The workers were also super friendly and welcoming. Definitely coming back again!

We came here for our daughters 12th birthday, per her request. Their employees were very welcoming & helpful. Food portions are hefty & everything tasted so good! They gave us sushi nachos on the house & the kids Easter treats. Super chill & clean inside. We loved it & will definitely be coming back.

Definitely recommend!! I believe I got Cali style and it was so good! Really could not be a bad decision when choosing poke bowl styles! They're all so so good! The proportions are so big too! Definitely like the ambiance, great for a nice lunch! Service was friendly too!!

This is my favorite poke spot in Davis! The portions are generous and served in large bowls for easy eating. There are a lot of options and styles to customize your poke bowl to your liking. They also offer brown rice which is a plus in my bowl. The staff are friendly and very efficient.

A quick Yelp…read moresearch produced Good Friends Hawaiian Poke as a good lead w/ a high rating & relatively healthier fare for takeout. Walking in, it's a bright & clean space. Service ordering at the counter was friendly & patient as I looked over the menu. I eventually zeroed in on the Zesty Flavored Salmon under the Specials/ Rice Bowls. It didn't take long. Handing me the packed to-go container, I immediately noticed its heft. There was a lot of food crammed in there. As soon as I was back in my room, I peeled open the lid to get at the goodies inside. My 1st observation was that there was lot of salmon. A bunch of fresh veggies too. For being on the menu as a rice bowl, there was exactly the right amount of rice underneath everything else. This definitely was not a case of too much rice being added as an empty calories filler. All in all, it was quite tasty. Indeed, even zesty. & enormously filling. Just a massive bowl of delicious salmon/ veg/ rice w/ a sauce that tied it all together. In this economy, Good Friends Hawaiian Poke is a great value. Whenever I'm hungry in Downtown Davis, I'll be back.

The fish was flavorful, but not flavorful enough to eat just with rice. In order to get the extras like seaweed, edamame, etc. you had to pick a "style" for an extra $3.95-$4.25. I don't get why that's just not factored in the price like the other poke bowl spots. Either way, if you wanted to add more toppings for texture and taste you had to pay another $1 for each topping. For three bowls, a prawn appetizer, and two canned drinks was $77. The amount of food we received was good, but the whole experience left me very underwhelmed and felt overpriced.

I always come here when I am missing one vital ingredient in whatever I'm making, whether that be Japanese Vietnamese, Korean or Chinese food. I'm really grateful that they have some fresh herbs and vegetables too if needed as well as a variety of Asian sauces, noodles and grains. They also have a decent collection of instant noodles and frozen food as well. Obviously, it's not stocked like your massive Asian superstore like H Mart, but it has all the essentials you need when you need a few things here and there and you're not looking to do a huge grocery haul. I've also picked up some of the prepared foods inside dishes here. The kimbap is all right, not huge portions, but is a good snack size. The tteokbokki is just OK in my opinion. I found the side dishes in the marinated meats to be really good though, if you're planning to do a KBBQ at home situation. The protein choices are delicious and they are super generous with mix-ins, toppings and sauces. Yang Kee Dumpling is located in a small strip mall, equipped with plenty of parking, and EV chargers. When arrived it wasn't too busy, and the hostess showed me to my table. In front of my table was where the staff was making dumplings (they were behind glass). After looking at the menu, I opted to get some traditional soup dumplings, bbq pork fried rice, and pineapple bao buns for dessert. My server was Bing and she was nice and efficient. She came back to check on me a few times throughout my dining experience. My fried rice came out first. It was a LARGE serving of fried rice, it of course had eggs, carrots, peas, and BBQ pork. It was flavorful. Next came out the soup dumplings. They were brought out in a steamer basket with a top to keep them warm. These were amazing. The light and delicate dough, mixed with the savory pork filling, and the salty broth was perfection. Next came out my pineapple bao buns. To be honest, I wasn't sure how I was going to like them. To my surprise these may have been the star of the show. The dough was light and sweet, the top was carmelized and sweet, and the custard inside reminded me of a Dole Whip from disney (exept it wasn't cold, it was warm). These were pretty large and I'm semi embarrassed to admint I had 2 3/4 bao buns myself. Go here. It's delicious.
