Fullhouse - Curry chicken tamales, black beans, rice, curtido and salsa!

Best tamales in town with amazing customer service. The banana pudding is a plus! Their chill and comfortable interior is nice as well!

Very cute place. You order at the counter, grab utensils, hot sauce and water, sit down and they will bring you food to the table. Service was very friendly and the food came out quickly. I got two vegan tamales: Calabacitas and Vegan Soul and both of them were delicious. Very good ratio of dough and filling and perfectly seasoned. I didn't even use much salsa that comes with them they had so much flavor. Husband got Curry Chicken and Chorizo and he liked them a lot too and he normally hates tamales! That really says a lot about the flavor and taste of these tamales. We also got a side of Curtido and it was good but nothing to write home about. Overall, were good meal!

What a wonderful find...thanks to Yelp. Friends and searched a bit online and reviews for this place we're pretty good. It's street parking or use of the public pay lot down the street. If you use the public lot, pay up at the machine right away as they someone that goes around verifying that parked vehicles have paid. You can extend your parking by paying online. Now this place isn't anything fancy inside, but it works. One whole side is actually their refrigerated storage. You order at a walk up counter, but they bring your order to you. The staff we interacted with were all pretty nice. On this visit I tried the Chicken Tinga tamale (their best seller) and a Chorizo tamale, and a can of beer. There's a combo plate (comes with beans and rice) but they said it's filling and most just order two tamales a la carte or a single combo. I went a la carte. Now it took extra time for the Chorizo tamale. Chorizo is one of my favorite items and I'd never had a tamale like this before. So they served me the Chicken Tinga tamale first. It was pretty big and hot. The masa was alone had a good taste but as a whole with their salsa, this tamale was definitely better than expected. I actually thought that just one tamale a la carte would have been enough for me. But after a few minutes, the Chorizo tamale arrived. It too was very tasty. Paired with a beer out of the cooler, these tamales hit the spot! If you're a tamale fan, I recommend you give this place a try. Based on the numerous pick up orders I saw going out the door, I think the locals must agree.

    Two tamales at home.

Highly recommend. Bean and Cheese! Soooo good! Liked the Vegan Soul too. Kind and SUPER fast service. Cozy atmosphere. Cute neighborhood. Free parking under the bridge.

    Queso poblano, amazing!!!

I was told about this place at the Nourish Market. I'm from Cali so I definitely know authentic tamales, so I didn't have high expectations for a any sort of Mexican food in Tennessee. The vibe is kind of a hippie vibe when you walk in. In my head I thought, oh no is this a vegan joint. I ordered a queso Poblano and a classic. The masa is a different texture than normal tamales. Normal tamales are kind of compacted/dense. But here was more loose/fluffy. I didn't care much for the classic; was ok. Weird that there was ground beef in a tamale. But the queso pablano...... Aaaaaaaamazing! It had such a good flavor, I wanted to get more but I was already full. Ive already told 3 people to check this place out. $12.13 4 stars they had a different texture than the regular tamales that are usually compacted cornmeal. The queso poblano was amazing. The beef one was OK. I was kind of surprised to see ground beef in a tamale

    warning: unwrap first.

Ridiculously good tamales. So good I immediately ordered a second round to go just after finishing my plate.

Vegan soul tamale was rich with sweet potatoes and black eye peas. Pico was fresh and added just the right hint of spice. Great selection of beers, kombucha, and cider!

I love tamales! I was very excited to see a tamale restaurant in town! Located in downtown Knox, the location is perfect. Easy to stop in on a day when you're exploring the city! Has a very California, laid back ambiance that I enjoyed. One thing I really appreciated was the vegetarian and vegan options! Overall, I didn't care for the food. I requested a pork tamale, but the lady working said they didn't have any prepared that day. She said I could grab a frozen (or refrigerated) one and take it home to prepare, but I decided to go with something else. I chose a beef tamale and a queso and poblano tamale. The beef inside was not what I expected at all, which could have been my misunderstanding. I expected ground beef and if not ground beef then maybe diced steak, but what I received was such an odd shape, texture, and taste. It was more along the lines of chewy mini hot dog shaped beef. Thankfully I had ordered a poblano and queso tamale as well, it was flavorful, but again, not my favorite tamale. The rice and beans had an odd flavor as well. I'm not sure if it's a seasoning they use when cooking that I don't like, or if I went on an off day. The lady working the counter was very nice and helpful in explaining things since it was my first time there. I wanted to love this place, but something about the food fell flat. I really want to give them another try and I'll be sure to update my experience when I do! :)

She knows the menu like the back of her hand--seriously, she's tried every combination imaginable and helped us decide between a couple options. Her recommendations were spot on. I ended up getting the Oh Boy half sandwich, and I love that you can order it as a half. I was torn between that and the Tuscan chicken, but I would order the Oh Boy again in a heartbeat. I also had the pasta salad with both ranch and tahini--such a great option because you always want to try more than one dressing! We tried the Southwest salad too, and it was perfect with the chipotle ranch. Another really cool thing is that you can buy their dressings or hummus to go, which I'll definitely be doing next time. I also had a mocktail that was super fresh and felt really clean--kind of like their version of a spicy margarita, and it was delicious. Overall, great food, great options, and amazing service. Ambience was meh with lousy (loud) acoustics. I could easily hear the crying babies from across the restaurant as well as the conversations from surrounding tables. Our food was fine. I opted for a sandwich and my wife had an appetizer for her meal. We probably would have opted for something more substantial but... The prices for pizza here are outrageous. On the menu there are several 14 inch pizzas that are priced OVER $40!!! Give me a break, I can go down the street and get a 3-course steak dinner for $39.99 at a really nice restaurant. Yes, I know that management will probably respond to this review crying about rising costs. There's just no way to justify a 14 inch pizza that costs close to $50. You are going to price yourself out of existence.

The chargrilled portobello entree was honestly perfect. I love when the zucchini and yellow squash are cooked crisp-tender instead of mushy. That balsamic glaze was a nice topping bringing everything together. The sides of quinoa and mashed potatoes were a nice complement to the main dish. Haven't had pastrami in a while so I had to order the Pastrami Reuben and the presentation was great with how it was stacked! Between the sauce and the sauerkraut the flavors were all good and I enjoyed the taste of the pastrami when I found it, but the bread to meat ratio was so high I mostly tasted the burned crust of the bread and very few bites of pastrami. It was one slice of pastrami, not a thin slice but not what you hope for when you bite into true Jewish deli pastrami, which are normally bursting at the seems with meat. Marble rye is hard not to burn and they did a good job for the most part, but I tasted more crust than I did pastrami, and for $18 I wonder if this sandwich was more a charge for the hype. The blintzes were also smaller than one would expect of a blintz but I absolutely loved the compote on top.

When we made a reservation on the website there was no mention of a pre fixe menu. Not on the website, and not with the reservation. We went intending to get light appetizers, but when we arrived we were told that the only option was a 55 dollar per person menu. While we were annoyed by the bait and switch we decided to stay because there was no chance of getting a table anywhere else. I'll start by saying that I Know that Valentine's Day is historically very busy, but over half the tables in the restaurant were empty, and I've been in significantly busier environments where I still received a high level of service. In this instance, saying that we were dismissed by the staff was an understatement. My wife was sat while I was parking, and when I joined her I wasn't even acknowledged by the staff. We asked one question the server who was dropping off the food snapped at us and acted extremely irritated that we even addressed her while she dropped the food off. We asked for tea because we knew that was one of their specialties. The response that was snapped back was "no tea tonight, if you want drinks go pay at the bar, it's separate." The table beside us seemed to clearly be VIPs as the were in fact served several pots of tea. All in all the staff made us feel like we were an inconvenience and they didn't want us to be in the restaurant. The exception was a very nice server wearing a light colored dress, she was very kind, which only made everyone else's disdain all the more evident by contrast. The food itself was just ok. Course 1: salads, it had fruit and fresh vegetables. It was excellent. Course 2: zucchini and eggplant with beef. It was well cooked but the sauce was extremely bland. Course 3: chicken stuffed with liver. This was gross, not even edible. Course 4: leg of lamb with rice. Once again the meat was well prepared, but it here was almost no seasoning. The rice that came with it was undercooked and kinda tough. Course 5: It was listed as braised beef brisket, but it was just an unseasoned pot roast. I expected Mediterranean food to be presented with a significantly more interesting range of flavor profiles. Course 6: Baklava, really great! The layers were crisp and the flavor was smooth. All that to say, it wasn't anywhere near worth the cost, I went for a light dinner and only had the option of buying a heavy 6 course menu. Other tables were given service and we were treated as an annoyance. The location was very convenient, so they have that going for them... which is nice.
