I really wanted to like this place because it was like the little engine that could but just wasn't it. Grabbed an empty cup to put water in for my kids from my own water bottle. Filled it up while I waited. I didn't realize it initially but i was charged a dollar for an empty cup by the owner and my goodness did she give a dirty look while she was doing it. I had no idea why but once i walked out and saw the receipt it made more sense. That is unacceptable especially when I had already spent 13$ on two cups of super average coffee. Coffee review - ok coffee. I wasn't sure why there is such a huge line there. Both Mundos and Espresso bay are much better. Don't waste your time waiting in line for mediocre coffee. I wanted to support this local place but there are better options. I'll stick to Mundos. read more

Friendly little spot, and one of the few that open early in Traverse City-most places seem to have 9 or 10 as a closing time, they were open before 8 here. Friendly staff and good selection of quiches, pastries, and coffees. There are a few bar type seats on the inside, then some seating outdoors weather permitting. The quiche portions were very generous and delicious. The scone was good. Coffees were very good too. A convenient spot for a quick breakfast. Would visit again if I get back to TC sometime. read more

This is a fast paced little coffee shop situated in downtown Traverse city. Despite the crowd of customers inside, the baristas were friendly and full of smiles. The coconut cold brew was smooth and had sweet coconut notes. My Dad, who normally just drinks Folgers, enjoyed a cup of the drip coffee. The savory scone was amazing, it had a good amount of ham and cheese and the Dijon was not overpowering. Good little coffee shop and bakery in downtown Traverse City! There is a small parking lot for customers too which is a big plus. They make their almond milk and a lot of their syrups on site which gets a big thumbs up from me. They had a wide variety of baked goods and everything smelled great - it was hard to choose! We ended up going with an almond milk cappuccino, a lavender latte, and a lemon blueberry scone. The lavender was super fresh tasting and the scone was really good but it was more like a soft cookie than a traditional scone. The almond milk was super thick (because it's made on site I'm sure) but it was a little much for me. All in all though a great place! read more

Disappointed because I really wanted to like this place! It's so cute and a great location but our coffee drinks just weren't very good. The pumpkin pie latte tasted like water with cinnamon. I'm sorry but this was embarrassing. I ordered a cold brew and the barista poured in like two ounces of cold brew concentrate. Maybe even less. I know how cold brew works, I'm a barista, I could tell that was not nearly enough. I wasn't wrong. This plain $5 cold brew (which would be fine if it was good) I as the weakest cold brew I've had in my life. Basically water w/ a hint of coffee. And I'm unconvinced that it was even quality coffee because there's barely any flavor (I got Ethiopian, but who knows the quality of the beans because they were also serving "flavored" coffee), though I'm not sure I can make a good assessment because I can barely taste anything. I would avoid altogether compared to some other haunts tbh. read more

I really loved this shop. Not only was the coffee absolutely delicious every time, but their pastries are exquisite, and the view is epic. It's such an intimate place, you may or may not have room to sit and enjoy the ambiance, but i think that just adds to the allure of the place. I'm picky about my iced coffees and my lattes but they just happen to provide excellence consistently, so no worries there. The service is absolutely fantastic, and the options for your beverages are pretty much endless. If there's anything you need or want to know, they will be happy to assist you in the decision making process. This is one place I will miss most certainly about Traverse City. I was very tempted by the homemade pop tarts and the scones. I dont really have a sweet tooth like my husband BUT I thought about it. The interior has tons of character and there's definitely a "from scratch" feel to everything they offer. There's something calming about a good cup of strong coffee and a day with the ones you love exploring downtowns and most importantly being outside! mmmmm, the Traverse City coffee shop that has long set the standard for others to follow... Often imitated, never surpassed...in all honesty. There are now a league of coffee shops in downtown TC (finally, they got the memo that people like to drink coffee and waste time in cute downtown settings), and though they are just fine and dandy, none make better coffee If this gives any insight, at the age of 14 I worked at (now defunct) Javasite (yes, when "internet" cafes existed) around the corner, and STILL want to GH for a coffee fix. It's a "to go" kind of place, unless its summer and you can snag an outside table. I venture to guess most of the inhabitants of these tables are fudgies, though there must be some regulars sprinkled in for good measure. Otherwise, get it to go and enjoy your caffeination bayside at the Open Space... A medium iced coffee and a Diet coke? My favorite summer breakfast. I was all set to jet for a day of wedding festivities, equipped with two fists of brown jolted beverages. Well priced, fairly quick service and at this point, a TC institution not to be missed...it's the epitome of locally owned coffee. Starbucks, NOT WELCOME! read more

I was in town for a friend's wedding & the bride insisted we meet her the morning of the wedding to check out her favorite local coffee shop. I ordered a Dirty Harry & a lemon poppyseed muffin. I'm still thinking about the Dirty Harry three days later & why no one in Chicago serves it! Who knew a simple drink of coffee & hot cocoa could taste so much better than a mocha? Like seriously, this thing must be made of unicorn tears or fairy dust because it was unlike any other flavored coffee drink I've ever had. The muffin was worth the 10,000 calories -- super fresh & sugary! And considering how busy this place was on a Saturday morning, they had my order whipped up in a flash. I'm giving Good Harbor only four stars instead of five because there's very limited seating space outside & absolutely none inside. This is the type of joint where you want to sit & stay a while & enjoy your coffee. Hopefully some day they will get some extra space to expand! read more

After a very long walk along Front Street on one of the hottest days of the year, we need something cold to drink. I wanted coffee but lately I haven't been wanting cold brew or iced coffee. Not to worry, the staff here had an excellent recommendation: coffee and lemonade. Yes, that sounds weird but order one and you will not be disappointed! The drink was cold, refreshing, but also had the extra kick from the caffeine to keep us going. I am sad we didn't try and pastries or other desserts but everything looked wonderful and fresh. Seems like the varieties of coffee change daily. It's made quickly and you order at the counter and take your stuff. We sat outside both times we went here. They usually have some hearty looking vegan cookies if you have people who eat vegan. Different kind of vegan cookies two days in a row. You'll need two to get you over. Over the two days here, I had the lighter roasted coffee (excellent - best cup of coffee I had over my 4-day Michigan trip), a bacon and cheese scone, a cheese and cherry croissant, a day-old chocolate chip cookie, and a bagel with cream cheese. All were done very nicely. The cheese and cherry croissant stood out, though. Feed the meter across on the street or the parking lot across the street. It's not real busy on weekend mornings, so it's easy to cross. There is limited parking in the lot attached to the bakery. I believe 2 spaces and a 15-minute time limit. read more
