The furniture has never remained fully functional for any meaningful period of time. While repairs were technically covered under warranty, the process was incredibly frustrating. Replacement parts took months to arrive, calls to the Lancaster store often went unanswered, and corporate customer service made it very clear they did not care that we have spent much of the last year unable to fully use furniture we paid thousands of dollars for. We simply asked about returning or exchanging a sectional that has had ongoing mechanical failures since the beginning, but after more than a year of issues, we were offered only a $100 store credit. I understand defects can happen, but after repeated repairs, long delays, and dismissive customer service, I would not purchase furniture from Big Sandy again.

Basically, he did nothing, but the service charge was $100 and this was supposedly going towards the part and labor when it is installed. We were told he would order the part and get back in touch with us- he stated it would be in with in a week. This was on 7/20/25 We didn't get a call in a week and thought maybe it was taking longer to get the part in. After 2 weeks, we called him- just voice mail. We left a msg, he never got back in touch. I texted him 3 times and then asked him if he would at least tell me the parts name- Nothing. I called 5 times and messaged a number of times. So his seems to be- charge a consulting fee, and then just never comes back. I called a few appliance services to see if they worked on LG appliance and told them the situation with "The appliance doctor" and both said they have had to clean up his messes a number of times. It is mostly clothes that I would say are fairly priced and they do have a HUGE selection. There shelves were very low on home goods and they just had a few pieces of furniture, but what they had was nice and well-staged. At the back of the store, there is an ADORABLE vintage Mickey Mouse clock. There is no signage to say price or if it is for sale or not. I assumed not, but on my way out, I did ask the two associates at the front (younger blonde-ish lady and middle-aged darker haired lady) if it happened to be for sale. I was completely fine with a no being the answer, but the darker haired lady responded "If you want to give me $1,000 you can have it." Again, I was totally fine with a no, and assumed it probably was not for sale, I just LOVE Mickey Mouse so I wanted to be sure because it isn't every day you see something so cool. I laughed a bit at the response and headed out at that point. The same clock is available on Ebay for $250, but I would have preferred Salvation Army get paid than some random person on Ebay. After leaving, a friend informed me that a majority of the items I had noticed when I walked in that were so nicely staged, are apparently also not for sale. And that staff being turned off by people asking about prices on those items often result in the same attitude back that I experienced. Again, totally fine if you don't want to sell people things, but signs would be nice or a kind response when people ask. I am a pretty firm believer in signage goes a long way, so if staff is going to be put off by people asking if something is or isn't for sale, I would recommend adding some "not for sale" signs around the store. No reason to be snarky with people asking if things are available or not. There are probably better options of places to shop and have a better experience with staff and a more straightforward shopping experience-and where you can still support great causes!

I am not a fan of spending a lot on money on clothes, so I shop with the 50% off discounts in mind and find bargains for my whole family. The staff is usually very friendly and helpful. I have found some gems in the home areas as well, but that is typically not what I'm looking for. I miss the dressing rooms, though, and would buy more if they came back. If I had any complaint, it would be that the music is entirely too loud in the shopping area. In my opinion, it should be background music and not excessively noisy. I prefer it more quiet, which allows for better thinking and a much more enjoyable shopping experience. If the staff needs the music loud in order to hear it, they could invest in a small radio near their station. Im very thankful Salvation Army Thrift Store serves our community.
