Four stars is technically accurate, but compared to the other Chinese food delivery places within range of my address, this place definitely deserves five stars. The food isn't the best I've ever had, but it's well-prepared, tasty enough, not excessively greasy or salty, the meat isn't full of gristle, and it's far better than others in the area and at a fair price. I judge a Chinese restaurant by the hot and sour soup. Good Jerry's is amazing because it tastes great, you can choose one of three spiciness levels, and it doesn't have any of that disgusting thickening agent that other places use. Minor complaints: the aforementioned soup was skimpy on the tofu and wood-ear mushroom, and the steamed dumplings could have used more filling and less dough. They have an online ordering system (this is seriously the greatest invention ever, why don't more places have it?) which is functional and easy to use. I've ordered delivery twice on weekdays and it took just a few minutes longer than I thought it should, but not excessively. (I live on a non-contiguous road and almost half the competition's drivers get lost and have to call me for real-time directions, at which point my food is already cold and an hour late. Good Jerry's hasn't done that yet.) The real test will be on a weekend night. I really hope this place sticks around for a while without going downhill too fast. The food is okay. They have a few things to work on before I can give them 5 stars. My pepper steak wasn't done all the way, my husband even said the same thing before I even had the chance to say anything about it being too chewy. They also need to work on customer service, they are not welcoming when you come inside or over the phone, when I placed my ordered over the phone for pick up, she hung up on me before I was even finish talking, I was about to ask her if I get a number or do she need my name. read more

The only reason I give it a star was because the crab rangoon was good. I also got general tso chicken and steamed dumplings. The dumplings were 80% dough and very little filling. The general tso was mushy and flavorless. I also got it with fried rice which was also complete mush and mostly bean sprouts. I couldn't even finish it. Service was really nice though. read more

Great place, great food and nice people. The mambo sauce is on point. Its not the runny, watery kind you'll find over at kenny's sub shop. This restaurant is clean too. Of all the carry outs within a 5 mile radius, this is the place to go if you want good carry out food. The chicken wings aren't on steroids there either. So my experience with this carry out was not very pleasant. I ordered my food on Grubhub, however the wrong address was applied to my order. Forty five minutes later I receive a call from the driver (who almost didn't speak any English) ask "House number?!". I told him the correct address, which was only around the corner and he hangs up on me and tells me to call the restaurant! So, I call the restaurant to explain to the woman how rude the driver was and how I attempted to communicate with him; in order to guide him in the proper direction. She assured me that she was going to contact him and give him the right address. 10 minutes later my doorbell wrang and the delivery guy basically bombarded me on my porch steps. He pushes the bag in my face and says "you give wrong address!", then turns around and leaves... Whether he had an issue with me because I am a woman, American or black woman or because there was a simple mistake? I will never order from this Chinese carry out again! read more

I've been trying GJ out for the last few weeks after reading others' reviews and I am very impressed. The quality is outstanding for the prices. I've spent a lot more in fancy Chinese restaurants even in San Francisco and Montreal for less impressive food. Speed of service is excellent. My advice is not to call in your order but just wait the 5-10 minutes they take and your food will be hot by the time you get home. It is one of the few restaurants of any type that does not over cook everything. The quality of the shrimp, beef and chicken dishes I have tried are all top notch. I am not saying this is the best Asian restaurant in the state, but it is one of the top 4-5 in the PG, Montgomery and HoCo area when one considers price especially. My only advice to them is raise your prices so you can stay in business! read more

I've come here all my life. Never had any issues. Just went last week and ordered general tso chicken. It was good. I have no complaints.

The food was okay but what makes me mad is that the delivery guy rudely demanded a tip from me. First of all, this was my first time ordering from this place so yeah I wasn't going to tip until I tasted the food and his unfriendly phone call telling me to open the door NOW, completely threw me off. My co-workers and I decided to order from Good Jerry because a few people in the office had eaten there before and loved the food. We called in for delivery and when it was delivered I opened my tray only to find a BIG DEAD ROACH sitting in my cheeseburger sub. Luckily I did not start eating yet and it was on top or I probably would have bitten into it. I called and spoke with someone to tell them to have the driver come back and take a look at it and refund the money paid and she told me they were very busy and it would be a while before he could come back. Now I'm pissed because my lunch has been ruined and they were not bothered by this at all. So I packed everybody's food back up (of course no one could continue eating after seeing a roach) and walked into the restaurant. I pulled everything out and showed them the roach in the sub and it took three of them to examine it as if I put it there myself because you can clearly see the roach. I told them I wanted a full refund for the entire order. He was hesitant at first but I was refunded the full amount. I would not recommend eating here at all because they obviously have a bug problem and I have contacted inspectors who will be paying them a visit soon. read more

Yes! 5 stars for a counter service quick American Chinese place. Service is excellent. Quick, accurate, friendly. The place is clean and well tended. The kitchen is as well. The food is fresh and flavorful without being greasy or overly sauced. The quality is excellent. The portions are generous and the prices are the fairest you will find. when they say good they mean good at messing up your orders! I ordered my food for delivery they delivered it with out two orders of general sows chicken it also had an order of lo mein that had shrimp in it which I specifically asked for chicken due to my allergy to shrimp and the fact I'm pregnant. When I called to get my correct order the lady not only messed it up 3 times but then gave me wrong sizes and knowing she was In the wrong kept apologizing however her apologizes meant nothing after charging me again for this time the correct order. I don't know what is worse the food or the Staff when speaking to the manager he began to yell at me as if I was In the wrong for his staffs mistake he then informed me that I would have to pay again! I am outraged by their customer service their lack of knowledge of their own business and how they treat their customers to top it all off the food wasn't even worth all the hassle! This a family owned restaurant. They have great food. The chicken on a stick is wonderful. I love to eat it cold the next morning for breakfast. I've had both the American and Chinese fare, and all gives you that carryout food 'high' without the 'I'm a disgusting person' low that one can get after a trip to the corner carryout. Do not!!!! I repeat DO NOT go here to get food. I ordered my food at 9:44 PM and did not receive my food until an hour later. When I called to check on my order instead of picking up the phone and telling me the status of my order they picked up and hung up on me and then after that ignored all my calls. By this time it was already getting late and I wasn't even hungry anymore. I was about to file a claim from my bank to get my money back because I didn't think they were going to come. I ordered shrimp fried rice ,french fries ,chicken wings ,and sweet tea. My french fries were awful tasted like plastic they were cold and dried up. The chicken was not fresh it taste like it has been sitting out all day long since lunchtime. The fried rice wasn't all that either. I don't even think it was real shrimp because it was mushy when I bit down into them . If I had a dog I wouldn't even give it to the dog . I was looking for something tasty for dinner one Friday evening. I decided I wanted some Chinese, so I ventured out. I was really looking for a Chinese "restaurant", vs a "carry out". I saw this place and decided to give it a try, as actual Chinese restaurants are not that plentiful in the area. I ordered spring rolls, pork lo-mein and egg foo young. I was to receive a free chicken friend rice because I had spent a certain dollar amount. Acknowledging this is a carry out and not a 5 star restaurant, the food was still a bit blah. Some carry outs have really good items. The spring rolls were non descript. As a good friend of mine calls egg rolls - these were just "cabbage rolls", nothing tasty about them. The fried rice was uneventful as well, ok, but nothing to write home about......but I will write about it here on Yelp. :-) Once I added soy sauce, duck sauce and hot mustard, the rice was better. By itself, not so tasty. I've had fried rice that needed nothing but a fork. The egg foo young was good. Not great but good. In my humble "love Chinese food" opinion, most places only do "ok" egg foo young, so I'm not holding this against them. I can't comment on the Lo Mein as I did not receive it. They gave me pork fried rice instead. Now, I did not realize this until I got home. l called to advise of the error. They first implied the error was mine. I nicely reminded them of the conversation we just had about selecting the lo mein and making it spicy, etc. etc. I also noted, I was getting the "free" fried rice already.....did not need or want another rice dish. They asked if I wanted to bring it back, to which I replied "no". I had already done my part by coming to the shop in the first place. Needless to say, they did not offer to deliver the correct item, (they do offer free delivery), or make any adjustment for their error. The poor customer service left a worse taste than the food. :-( read more
