A few days after we met and I signed the contract, the team came out to remove old roof debris left over from a recent reroofing, removed our home's original insulation, and installed fresh batt insulation in both the attic and crawlspace. They also added rodent proofing throughout the attic while they were at it. About a month later we heard critter noises, so I texted them and they came out to inspect. He didn't find anything in the traps but reset them to be safe. Sure enough, something took the bait because we heard it go off! Jose came back shortly after and discovered 2 mice (thankfully no rats), found a gap where the roof met the garage and sealed it up. He ran an ozone generator as a precaution for any smells. A couple weeks after that we heard faint sounds again. Jose returned, found one more entry point, sealed it, and since then there's been total silence! I really appreciated how thorough and persistent they were even after the job was technically done. Solid team, fair price, and they stand behind their work. Highly recommend Attic Kings!

Not only did Attic King give me the best bid, they went way above and beyond to coordinate the work with me, as I live out of the area. The communication was always prompt, and all my questions were answered with the utmost professionalism and courtesy. On the first day the crew worked an extremely long day removing all the old insulation and ducting, completely cleaning and sanitizing the attic, and installing all new ducting. They sealed every entry point they could find where rodents were getting into the attic . Then they laid traps and waited several days to come back and make sure no more rodents were getting in before they blew in the new insulation. Throughout the entire job, their representative Ofek kept me informed of progress and included pictures at each stage of the job. In an era when Customer Service seems to be a dying art, it's nice to know there's a company that puts the customer first and backs it with excellent workmanship. I could not recommend them more highly!

My house definitely feels cooler in the morning and although it's hot outside, I haven't had to run my air conditioning nearly as much. I believe I will start to see the benefit more over the next few months. Honesty is the best policy and I choose to be transparent in my reviews. I did encounter a few issues related to the financing and some inaccuracies displayed on the company website. On the website when I was researching, there was an option for 100% financing, which as a single parent I needed, however, it turned out that wasn't an option and was incorrect on the website. Payment methods are either cash, check, or card, however, if you use a card there is 3.5% fee added to the transaction which can add up based on the job. This fee added $100 to my total, which I don't even think goes to the company but to the merchant. I wish this information was accurate and more readily available as it was one of the reason I was even able to find this company based on my search criteria. However, financing alone should not deter you or prospective customers from using this company. The owner, Anthony, was apologetic but I believe it was out of his control with the fees. His customer service alone is why I chose to continue doing business although my other quotes had financing options. Anthony definitely seemed like he would work with you if he could. The company was able to provide a quick turnaround for service, I believe he came on Monday for a quote, and then I had an appointment on Thursday. He was very responsive to emails and questions that I had. He has a crew, but is hands on with his jobs as well. One thing I should known and I hope to share the information with others is to check your vents after job completion. I wish I would have had them check after blowing the insulation. I had insulation coming out of the vent in my downstairs living room and still have insulation that blows out when I turn on my air conditioning in my bathroom. It was stuck in the vent so when I turn on the air, it blows out and I have to clean it up. So that's the only thing that I wish I had of known, or at least spot checked prior to their departure. In summary, I still give 5 stars. I would definitely recommend Definition Insulation. I felt comfortable with the owner, the job, and the crew and that means a lot. They were very knowledgeable in the field, in fact, Anthony used to work for an HVAC company, so he isn't just selling insulation to be selling it, he knows the benefits of it and how it can help cool your house down and lower your electric bill. I am hoping to notice a different next month. The customer service and fast turnaround were win-wins for me. I did as much research as I could and received 3 quotes from other companies, but Definition Insulation was the only one that included the removal on their quote, all of the others were going to put new insulation on top of at this point decades old insulation. It might be the difference between fiberglass insulation and cellulose insulation, but either way there should be removal as part of the newer insulation. Sometimes the cheaper or brand name option isn't always the better option if they can't do the job right, so I felt very comfortable in my decision to choose Definition Insulation and I would choose them in the future should I have another job or know someone who needs this type of work done.

I am *really* fussy about hiring contractors. So many of them conduct their business sloppily and…read moreunprofessionally I can't believe they stay in business at all. So I do my research and am VERY selective in who I hire when our house needs work. My wife and I hired Andy Fernandes and Adval and they proved to be the real deal. Andy was *always* prompt - every time he or anyone from his company was scheduled to arrive they arrived early. Andy and his crew were communicative, clearly very knowledgeable, and straightforward, which is to say that they told me *and showed me* what was really happening and not what they wanted to promise or what they thought we wanted to hear. And they followed through exactly as they said they would. The quality of their work was outstanding. We had a few kitchen cabinets that had gotten damaged by the 2014 Napa quake and were looking like they were going to fall off the wall. Andy sent over a master carpenter (he spent years building stuff for moneyed people on Martha's Vineyard, who can be quite demanding) who didn't "upsell" us by telling us one of the cabinets needed to be rebuilt (the build cabinet in their own shop), he showed us in detail exactly what the problem was and convinced skeptical me that a new cabinet built from real plywood instead of the particle board of the cabinets the flipper who sold us the house had installed was the way to go. They reused the facing from the old cabinets, so the match was immaculate. Price-wise, yeah, they weren't the cheapest I could have found, but they were most definitely not close to the high end, they were right in the ballpark, and I figure if I demand quality I have to be wiling to pay for it. And we most decidedly got what we paid for. I repeat again that I am VERY picky about contractors, but I unhesitatingly give Adval Construction my highest recommendation. Our job was pretty small, but I would hire them for a big job in a heartbeat. This is the way construction contracting is supposed to work.

While we are overall happy with the final product, there were some pros and cons along the way Pros: - Hiring Adval was a pretty seamless process. We requested a quote and within a week, Camila the consultant/designer came for an inspection of our area, measurement, and go over samples for a free quote - Since my husband and I didn't want to be around paint fumes, it took us a few months to schedule the project in tandem with a trip out of town. Adval respected that and didn't push; they simply had us let Debbie know when we were ready - While we were out of town, the painters Ana and Jeff were very respectful of our place. We had cameras setup for security, and they always cleaned up after themselves, turned off our lights, and ensured our doors were locked each day they were on site. They even helped bring in our trash bins after trash day! Cons: - Adval wasn't the most affordable in comparison to other quotes we received. However, we chose them anyway because their process and communication seemed the most thorough (in the beginning) - Since we had the work done while we were out of town, scheduling with the GC Pedro for repairs and touchups was a bit of a struggle as they were already busy with other projects - It was not made clear how EASILY new paint on the cabinets could get scratched and damaged. We had pre-existing rollout drawers in our bottom cabinets and they scratched the doors so quickly. In addition, some areas (drawer/cabinet edges and corners) have already chipped. We wish Camila elucidated this information to us when we were debating painting vs refacing and that Ana/Jeff/Pedro gave us care instructions for the new paint when they initially finished the project - There were a few doors that were clearly damaged prior to painting (corners were broken off/chipped but then the door was still painted over); Pedro ended up picking up these doors and they repaired them at their warhouse - It took about 2 months from the time we returned from our trip/initial paint completion to the final completion of the project (between scheduling, Pedro taking the damaged doors back to the warehouse to have repainted/repaired, and Ana/Jeff returning for reinstallation and final touch ups; the final reinstall was rescheduled on their end 3 times which was slightly annoying) - We changed our mind after initial completion from financing to paying the remaining balance in full. However, something must not have been communicated because the Synchrony account was activated and we didn't know until they charged us a late fee due to missing the first payment. We were able to get the late fee waived and ended up just paying off the balance through Synchrony. Again, annoying. Overall, even with the roller coaster of our simple project, the entire team at Adval was always respectful. They were quick to respond to my texts/calls and showed professionalism in their work. I appreciated that they were responsive and accountable. We are just disappointed in how fragile the final product is and we weren't properly informed.
