I accidentally dumped a plastic hair strainer within a bucket of dirty water down the toilet while I was cleaning the bathroom. The toilet was not flushing smoothly immediately. I called Good Plumber the next morning. Mark came over within an hour the very same day. He arrived early, clean, polite and professional. He removed the hair strainer without scratching the toilet in a couple of minutes. It was amazing! I also had issues with the front and back outdoor faucets. The back faucet was leaking. Mark examined it, tested it and replaced some connecting parts to the faucet. Making sure parts were really needed replacement, not just tightening. He only charged me his cost for the parts, not retail. The front outdoor faucet is working fine, the problem was the turn off faucet in the garage. It was impossible to shut off 100% so water continued to leak. I had to use a flat screw driver and hammer to force it to on and off every spring/summer and fall/winter. I dreaded doing it every year! I did not turn on the water for the entire year 2018. I did not wash the cars, did not water any plants. I used buckets of water to water the outdoor plants. What a pain! And I had the shut off valve fixed about 3 yeas ago, so I thought. Mark replaced the round faucet with a handle, easier to turn the valve on and off. It was not an expense I wanted to spend. But seeing what Mark did with the other tasks. I was very comfortable to have Mark replaced the shut off valve. I also observed that the inside of Mark's huge truck was spotless, all supplies stow in drawers, not a thing out of place. You can tell a person's work by the way he keeps the tools. There was an issue with the master toilet and my husband had just gotten home from the hospital (total knee replacement ) and could only use this bathroom. Mark is the absolutely the best and now we have a plumber we can trust and rely on in the future for all our plumbing needs. We just found out about a broken water main in our foundation inside the crawl space and called Good Plumber. Mark answered and said he could be out that evening to check it out. He arrived right on time and explained what it would take to fix the problem. He quoted an extremely fair price to completely dig outside the foundation to replace the damaged pipe with better and stronger piping. The next day he was again on time and discovered that the problem was more extensive than originally thought. Mark worked constantly from 1 PM to after 7 PM and completely fixed the main problem along with others he found along the way (issue with outdoor leaky faucet and faulty water main shutoff valve). At this point I was sure that all the extra work that had been required was going to bump the bill to more than double the quoted price. I was completely shocked to see the bill was exactly what he had originally given me the night before- even after using additional parts to fix the issues! Not only is Mark an honest professional (which is sometimes hard to find these days)- he is probably the hardest and most dedicated tradesman I've ever encountered. He dug a huge trench outside the house in freezing conditions and was able to save the hedge in front of it. When he was done with the job you couldn't tell there was ever a hole there. He was also extremely careful about not making a mess and making sure he didn't track in dirt by continually taking off and putting on boots in and out of the crawl space and house. I think the primary thing that elevates Mark over the typical residential plumber is his habit of analyzing a problem carefully, and arriving at a sound solution that is the least disruptive, destructive and costly. I came home one day (I want to say Friday) and could hear water RUSHING through the pipes even though nothing was on. The city had just done some work so I called them up to come check and make sure it wasn't them. It wasn't, so I had them shut it off and began placing calls. My first call was to Joe the Plumber after the city visit - around 11 pm so I wasn't expecting much. Never even got a call back from this guy. Second call was to Puget Sound Plumbing the next morning (I believe, I may be getting the names mixed up) - where a gal said they would have someone over to me by 5 or 6. They never showed. Third call was to another company with a guy by the name of Scott answering. He told me his person, Jordan, would be out by 1. At 1, I called to verify if he was coming and got "yeah, he just went a little over and will be right there". By 5 pm I was on the phone with Mark Sonnenberg. I told him what was going on (trying not to panic - I have two kids, no water, and the bathtub full of water for flushing the toilets was running out). He told me he'd be there by 6:45. I said ok and he must have known my thoughts "YEAH RIGHT THAT'S WHAT THEY'VE ALL SAID" because he followed up with "If I say I'm going to show up at a time, I show up. Don't worry. I'll be there. 6:45" He showed up at 6:35 Saturday evening and started digging. He found the leak pretty quickly and proceeded to quote us. He told us what we could do on our own for much less if we wanted to save money, told us how to do it, what we'd need, etc. and that he'd only charge us for gas if that were the case. He let us know he didn't work Sundays so he wouldn't be able to come in until Monday to complete it. Towards the end of the conversation, we mentioned we'd had some other issues and he stated he'd take a look and probably do it for no charge. On Monday, Mark showed up when he said he would (I know because he left a voided contract for me - my SO had passed out and didn't hear him knock - UGH) and I called all panicky thinking that we'd blown our shot with this guy.. the ONE guy who had actually come out. He said he'd show up right after lunch and was there at 1:30 and done by about 6. For us, this was really worth it. We both have horrible backs and no one to really help us, we aren't great at delegating work to others, and we needed water!! I highly recommend Mark. We'll be keeping his number for the future. *sidenote.. Scott called on Tuesday to see how we were doing - I think he was really just calling to see if it was a "real" job that was lost so he could let his employee know they lost a bit of money for not showing up. read more
