I actually called before coming in to check on a menu item, brisket nachos , that I learned is only on the happy hour menu. I spoke with Shay and she was very helpful. When I came in I ordered the Lady Bird Salad. I wasn't necessarily going for healthy but I wanted something light and this did both, satisfied my appetite and was a healthy option according to my dietary needs. It is a great portion size. I ate about 3/4 of the salad without guilt lol. I tried both the prickly pear lemonade and the ginger I think it's a soda with cane sugar. I enjoyed both. I did not catch the gentleman's name at the register but he was quick, efficient and pleasant. No idea they even had a BBQ place at Cityline. Easy parking in garages or on the street if it's not too busy. Pretty quiet on a weekend night.. Order at the counter and they bring it out. They pick up the trays after. Decent menu selection. Burgers, sandwiches with BBQ meats, BBQ meats on its own etc. They have a good amount of TVs, so might be a lowkey spot to watch a game but won't have the crowds. I've tried a few things here. $4 for sides. I thought the side was small.. Cole slaw was ok. The skinny fries are skinny and a decent portion. Tried the sliced brisket sandwich ($11.79). Didn't have much flavor. I used a bit of the BBQ sauce, but I feel it didn't add much either?? the price for the sandwich is decent though. I liked the burnt ends. After my grandsons football game, our whole family (yes, more than just me and my husband) decided to grab dinner. My daughter had recently eaten at Good Union Urban BBQ. It was a good choice. Everyone enjoyed the food. Where I'm going to give real prompts to this restaurant is for their manager on duty. We had a party of eight, and two of them have hip issues, so sitting at a tall table or booth wasn't going to work for us. There was another large table behind us, and they took several of our chairs. When I explained this to the manger, she went to her office and brought out her own chairs so we could sit comfortably. This is our first time at Good Union, but it won't be our last, for sure! The food was spectacular. I got the Pig Mountain Sandwich (5 Stars in my book), and my wife ordered the Lady Bird Salad. My daughter and grandson had come here and really liked it a lot so the whole family came here for dinner tonight. I really like the atmosphere here. There were several people having some drinks and watching the Cowboys game and it gave the place a great energy. Unlike most barbecue restaurants, this is a place you order at the counter and then they bring your order out to your table. There is no watching the meat carver in this place. I ordered a Sliced Brisket Sandwich and Skinny Fries. I also had a Maine Root Root Beer. Overall I enjoyed my sandwich but admittedly it was a little dry for my tastes. For dessert we tried the Banana pudding and also a Fried Apple Pie with Ice Cream. While both desserts were ok, there was some inspiration missing in both of them. The Maine Root Root Beer was SO good, it made up for several of the meal's other shortcomings. Service -wise, I would be remiss if I did not mention that when we got there, we were one chair shy of having enough chairs for the whole family. I love the ambiance at Good Union! It's very laid-back and a great view of a beautiful courtyard that's now decorated for the holidays. The service is always good and staff is friendly. We dined here yesterday evening for Happy Hour. The drinks were on point and bartender was cool. We ordered the brisket street tacos and brisket sliders with potato salad and fried okra. The food is ok and the prices were reasonable. On a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the best, 1 the worst, I'll give the food a 3.5. Go to location at Cityline for lunch or Happy Hour. I enjoy the salad with smoked chicken, called as Lady Bird. The smoking is super strong. Hours later when you belch it resembles a peat scotch. But it is tasty! And they use bright green leafy lettuce. They have a great beer selection. They never rush you when you are drinking after work with work mates. This is not our first visit here. If you are/were familiar with Bone Daddys, I believe this is the same owner and much the same recipes with a few additions and some thing not on this menu. We diners in last night. Service was ok- be advised it's counter service. And they will ask for a tip, which I know will irk some folks. I had backyard chicken. It's smaller chunks of what appears to be breast meat, drizzled in sauce. It was tender and moist. I also had Cole slaw which was very good. It came with a delicious cornbread muffin. She had 1 lb of sliced brisket and beans. Their beans are always delicious, kind of soupy, but tasty. A bit sweet I think. The brisket was super lean, hardly a speck of fat, and somewhat dry, like it had been sliced a while ago. She didn't ask for anything special- wet or dry, bark or no bark- just "sliced brisket". Since we shared the brisket, I'd say I didn't care for it as I prefer it to be more moist, even if it's not the fat part of the brisket. The place is clean, and there wasn't many customers so it was a bit quiet, which I like. I will return but if I'm ordering I'll make sure I don't get dry brisket. read more

An absolute staple for me. Brisket is great, I'd say 8/10. Occasionally on the dry side but usually it's juicy and always well priced compared to like a ten50 or terry blacks. Good spot to catch a game too. Solid draft beer selection. Great service. The cornbread is amazing. Seriously so good. Turkey legs are great if they have them in stock. Good Union Urban BBQ was located right to my hotel, so I was looking forward to seeing how their brisket held up to high standards. That being said, I did peep reviews about their brisket and was disheartened to find negative reviews. I saved myself the dinner experiment. The next day while walking around the CityLine Plaza, I was pleased to find that the Good Union Urban BBQ was opened very early at 7am. This was perfect, because I was looking for something savory and filling for breakfast. I stopped by the restaurant around 9am. It was a Monday morning and not particularly busy. Good Union Urban BBQ had a fun vibe. I can see this place easily being the local watering hole especially during the evening and game nights. Service was fine. A young gentleman assisted. Super helpful but maybe not a morning person. They had a small menu including a breakfast sandwich, breakfast quesadilla, and an assortment of breakfast taco. The prices on the breakfast items were such a steal. They were even cheaper than similar items that my hotel's cafe offered. Almost half the price. The prime b taco was interesting, because it included burnt ends, an opportunity to try their bbq. But for $1 extra I could get a whole breakfast quesadilla (4 pieces) with burnt ends as well. I decided to go light and ordered the prime b taco. The taco was solid, no frills. It had scrambled eggs, cheese, shaved potatoes, and marinated burnt ends. The potatoes seemed raw to me. Would've been nice if they were cooked on the grill and had crispy edges. It came with chunky salsa that reminded me of Pace, so I didn't care much for it. The taco was decently sized. I'd say that it would've been equivalent to 2 slices of the quesadilla, which was as much I would've eaten if I had gotten it. The taco left me satiated to the point I wasn't overly stuffed nor was still hungry. Honestly there wasn't much left to be desired. I was fine with what I got. For a Monday, it is very lively with locals from the bar to the restaurant. It is not very big, but there is plenty of and community tables for larger parties. Small line and the bar tender pulled me over to expedite the wait. Food came out quick and it was good. Ordered the Smokehouse Sandwich Brisket. The meat was dry 3 but much better when you added the sauce. The skinny fries were great 5. The fountain drinks are Marine Root, new to me and very sweet. Parking was tricky as it is tucked in a downtown community living area. Parking maybe difficult during the day or weekends. Since I live in the apartments nearby, this is my go to place when I don't feel like cooking lunch. I usually order the chicken; it's delicious and juicy. It comes with cornbread so that's a plus. I get 1/2 a bird so I get a few meals from it, worth the price. Beans and slaw also good. And if you want beef, the burnt ends are fantastic! Bakers also good. They lose a star because it's counter service and during lunch, it takes forever due to all the State Farm people all trying to eat at the same time. Staff is friendly but they are overwhelmed during a rush.. The trick is to order online and then sit at a table outside or in the plaza under a shade tree. I walk right up to the counter for pick up. Order from home or from your desk and it will be ready when you get there. You can also eat at the bar and skip the line; the bartender also takes walk-in to go orders but online ordering is the fastest. read more

The service was great we got there 20 minutes before closing time. It's one of those places where you order at the counter and they drop off your food. They also have a full bar, which is where most of the patrons were when we came in. I feel like that was my only disappointment that this place I had ordered one of their specialty drinks for the summer, the blue Hawaiian it was not good! I asked the guy working the register what he would prefer to order the chicken sandwich or the wings he said that the sandwich was good. I got that the meat was very moist and worked great on the brioche bun. I am typically not a shoe string French fries person but they were good and crispy. We ordered the banana pudding in the handheld apple pie they look good however we did not finish them as I was too full from the rest of the food. I've gotta say this place is catering to the hotel next door. You walk in, walk past the bar, up to the window where the lady was "what you want?". No other greeting. As I looked up at the menu, she walked away to take food to another customer. I was with a group... I was taking all day. The portions are large, the cheddar-jalepeno cornbread was delicious, but everything else was just okay. The best thing they had going for them was they were walking distance from my conference. I had the burnt ends taco and brisket tacos, which were really good. As a sports bar, this place seemed to be the place to go.
