This is a very old burger place that we've been meaning to try. The burger, it's a very classic grilled patty without much seasoning. Overall, I think it was just okay. I feel like the sizes, we got tater tots and fries, they were pretty small. For a full combo with burger, the small fries and drink, it came out to be about $15.

I thought the vibes of this place were really good. The root beer was delish and the burger was good but nothing to write home about. I think it's kinda pricey for how big the burger is, which comes with a single patty. Unfortunately, the bathroom was pretty nasty too.

8/28/25: My neighbor and I had stopped by before, but due to remodeling, was advised by the owner to give him an opportunity to take care of us when they re-opened. They have been in business since 1957. Old school vibe, with nice antique décor. Great atmosphere, and limited seating. Customer service is great. You order at the counter, and your number is called when the food is ready. I had a burger with onion rings and a root beer. The food was prepared fresh and the root beer was really, really good. The frosted plastic mug was a nice tough. The restaurant was pretty clean, and the restaurant was steadily busy. They do not have a high capacity parking lot, and street parking can be limited.

The one with the relish--- note relish is just TONS of mayonnaise

I LOVE an old school joint, and wow does this place pass the litmus test. If you like a spot that feels frozen in time in the best way, you will feel right at home here. Parking is street parking but it was surprisingly easy. We showed up around 11:30 on a weekday and the place was already hopping, which is always a good sign. I ordered the burger with the so called tangy relish. Just a heads up, it is mayo based and there is a LOT of it. And by a lot, I mean possibly a quarter cup. Personally, it was way too much for me, and the burger ended up swimming a bit. My husband got the Texas burger and thought it was fine. We shared onion rings, which were tasty but a pretty small portion to split. Think about five rings total, so plan accordingly if you are a ring lover. The true standout, however, was the root beer. Do not skip it. It comes in a frosted glass and is exactly as good as that sounds. Refills are only fifty cents and absolutely worth it. I may or may not have considered skipping the food and just ordering more root beer next time.

First off I gotta say the food here is great. I wouldn't say anything is off the charts amazing but for the price and place, it's great. I wouldn't say anything compare this to a very juicy hearty burger that has that homemade touch to it. If you're looking for something that'll blow your mind then this isn't the place to go but if you love burgers and just want one of those burgers where you're not afraid to get messy and when you have a "burger tooth" then this is your place. If I was being nitpicky, the only thing I had complaints about was how much fries you get and the smell towards the soda machine. I get it. It's a burger spot so the fixation should be on the burger and not everyone eats a lot like me but it felt like a kids side of fries in my opinion. The area by the soda machine smelled sour but I know it's from the cleaning supplies. It's nothing crazy to where I wanted to leave but honestly you don't smell it until you get close to that area. I think putting those things somewhere else or somehow masking the smell would be great. Overall the spot is super small and one of those hometown burger spots. Solid 4.5/5 but yelp doesn't let me do .5s haha

Old-School Burgers Done Right If you're looking for a real-deal, no-gimmick burger spot, Del's Charcoal Burgers in Richardson is it. I ordered the double cheeseburger with fries and onion rings. Everything came out hot, fresh, and packed with that smoky, old-school flavor that's hard to find anymore. Straight-up great tasting food, no complaints there. Service was solid too. The guy at the register, Andrew, clearly knows his regulars. He was greeting people by name, even the local PD. Says a lot when a place has that kind of loyal following. The building itself has been around since 1957, and you can tell it's like time stood still in the best way. Feels like a slice of Richardson history right off McKinney St. Inside restaurant is compact, but there's outdoor seating. Only drawback? No umbrellas. So if it's blazing hot or raining, you're rolling the dice. Parking can be hit or miss when it's busy, but we lucked out with a spot out front. Otherwise, you'll find street parking on both sides. All in all, 8 out of 10 strong burgers, good people, and a piece of local history that still delivers after all these years. Only wish it was closer to McKinney... the drive down 75 (and the drivers) are the only real downside. Bottom line: Classic American burger joint that hasn't lost its soul. Worth the trip.

Walking into this place is like walking back in time. It's been in business for over 66 years, and the current owner takes great pride in owning this business. Most night, it's crowded. You have to wait (not long usually) to find a table. That says everything to me about a burger place. And the hamburgers are tasty! Chargrilled (yes - they're really chargrilled) and you taste it in every bite. It reminds me of how Burger King was back in the early 80s. Back when their flavor stood out amongst the fast food chains. And the homemade root beer - delicious!

Today my burger wasn't as great as it has been in the past BUT it was still really good! Our guess was that the grill was too hot so it just didn't cook as well as it has before when we have been there. However, the root beer was excellent as always! And I probably will be super honest and admit that the majority of the reason I go to this place is for the root beer. It's divine! I just stay for the burgers and fries. You really can't go wrong though eating at this wonderful small restaurant. And once again, I forgot to take a picture till after I had taken a bite out of the burger.

There are only a couple of charcoal prepared hamburger joints in DFW I discovered this vintage restaurant in 1972 It's been in business since 1957! Serving old fashioned hamburgers and homemade root beer . Simple menu with all your favorites. Walk inside the small dining room and time warp to 1957 Family owned and operated with a dedication to your satisfying meal experience. Near the Beltline and Greenville Ave intersection There is outside dining under umbrellas too. Stop in soon to see for yourself what a vintage burger place has to offer.

First of all, their root beer is pretty good. Get one. It's served in a frozen/chilled mug. Their fries are average. Taste like fries from anywhere else. The burgers are above average. The patties are tasty and cooked well. These type of burger places are always good and taste better than the ones you would get a fast food joint. Del's does have a local neighborhood hole in the wall feel. Locals must love it because all around Del's are Asian restaurants and its like the only one of its kind; so it must have survived all the transformation around it.

I was recommended this burger place in Richardson. I will say I love supporting small non chain restaurants. However the food was sub par and I don't have to go back. The burgers were definitely frozen meat not fresh which is ok but it had no seasoning or real flavor whatsoever. The fries were just ok if they added some salt or seasoning to them they would be better. The soda options were limited so I went with a strawberry crème soda and it was good.

So everyone ok TikTok said I should try this spot over yummy's burgers and I'm still trying to figure out why lol ... don't get me wrong their burgers are good but I think yummy's is slightly better if I had to pick. The owner was inside and he was friendly and checked to make sure I enjoyed the food but the root beer people raved about wasn't anything to scream home about. I would probably try them again be use I do love a good burger as a cheat meal!

If you are looking for a good charcoal burger that is local to the DFW community, you found the spot! The owner still works in the restaurant and he is very friendly. They make their own root beer served in a frosted mug, which is not found very often. Refills for the root beer is 50 cents. They still have regular fountain drinks if you are not a fan of root beer. They have free parking that is close by, which is always a plus when looking for a place to eat!

This is like stepping into the way back machine (except for today's prices). Good, down home burgers. Get there early, the place is small.

How is the parking? I was planning a get together with my classic truck club but the street view photos look like parking is really limited.

Parking is limited, there is on the street parking. It depends on how many trucks will be there plus the Normal customers.

Anyone know the brand of hot dog they use?

I think it's franks since the menu item is called is franks dog

The atmosphere was casual and up beat. All the burgers and loaded fries were cooked to perfection. One of our friends had the Bloody Mary and she seemed to enjoy it. My family and I decided to go to Rodeo Goat for lunch. We walked in, were politely greeted, and…read moretold to sit wherever we wanted. There was plenty of seating at the restaurant with long tables, sit down tables, and outdoor seating. After choosing our table we waited 15 minutes before our waitresses showed up. They were very busy with the lunch rush so it took awhile between everything. It even took awhile to get our waters. One waitress was in training and learning from the other. The positive was that the waitresses were friendly throughout. After looking at the menu and waiting another 15 minutes we finally placed our order. We got our appetizer after waiting another 15 minutes. Thankfully that held us over until we got our burgers and fries. We started with tostada chips and queso. It was good and we ate it up pretty quickly. We requested another basket of chips to finish off the queso. To eat with our burgers we ordered hand punched fries and sweet potato fries. The hand cut fries were nice and thick and you could taste the salt. I enjoyed eating them with ketchup. The sweet potato fries were also thick and salty and you could taste the flavor of the potato. No need for ketchup with these fries unless you want it. For my burger I ordered the HL Hunt cooked medium which comes with white cheese, bacon, blackberry compote and mustard. The burger was filling, the cheese was melted but it had little flavor, and the bacon was chewy. The compote was my favorite part of the burger as it added a slightly sweet flavor. I requested a medium cooked burger but it didn't taste that way but it was still good despite that. Overall Rodeo Goat has lots of seating and friendly staff but I would go at an off peak time so that you don't have to wait a long time for everything. The food was still good despite the wait.
