Hubby, myself, our son and our adorable grandson were greeted by Missy and made to feel that we were her only customers. We sat outside over looking the river. It was shaded, comfortable with a beautiful view. We even saw a momma duck swimming with her little ones! Food was great! Haven't been to Good Vibes on the River since last summer with my kids. Dave and I were trying to escape the smoke after attending a family reunion in Woodstock, NY. So we decided to come back to Townsend Tennessee, to rest and relax before going home. This morning we decided to have breakfast at Good Vibes! It is so adorable and quaint and sits right on the Little River. So we got an inside table looking out on the water. I had the same breakfast I always have-scrambled eggs with sausage, cheese, avocado and veggies. It came with a delicious homemade biscuit. Dave had scrambled eggs, side of bacon and an extra large delicious blueberry pancake. Today there weren't any leftovers for Freckles lol! We sipped our coffee, enjoyed the view and the beautiful weather here in Townsend! Dave purchased a handmade hummingbird feeder, made by a local craftsman. For breakfast today during a weekend getaway my husband and I found this spot on Yelp. On their website they say they have plenty of healthy options including gluten-free and vegan items on the menu. I skipped in so excited ... but they only had 3 plant-based breakfast options: quinoa bowl, oatmeal, or this avocado toast. No plant-based pancakes or waffles, no vegan scramblers filled with veggies... sigh. Just uninspired stuff I make at home all the time. I also wanted a cup of coffee with some kind of plant-based creamer or nut milk, but they were out of almond milk and had no other non-dairy creamer options. (Glad I didn't order oatmeal!) I ordered this avocado toast because I thought fruit and mixed greens on the side sounded great. Not exactly ... I got 4 tiny slices of bananas, a few blueberries, these small slices of avocado laying on toast, and a very few leaves of mixed greens plain with nothing. Basically I got a plate of ingredients! ‍ I asked for lime wedges, but they only had lemon, which was fine. I asked if they happened to have some kind of seasoning - everything bagel perhaps? - but again, no luck. So I smashed the avocado on my plate with some lemon juice, salt & pepper and spread that on the toast. Then I topped it with the lettuce and squeezed on a bit more lemon juice, salt and pepper and enjoyed it that way, but it was so boring and blah when they brought it over. I have no idea how they could be Happy Cow endorsed with hardly any plant-based choices. On their lunch menu they have 1 thing that I saw - an impossible burger. Meh. My husband (not a plant-based eater) ordered the breakfast burrito with an extra egg. It came with some salsa on the side and he liked it very much. The staff was very friendly and even suggested we could stoke the fire in the wood-burning fireplace in the middle of the room, which needed a bit of tending, so we did. The wait for our food was long, but we'd come in after a large group, and it was a lazy Sunday morning for us, so it was fine. The place is cozy and when we're back in the area, I wouldn't hesitate to go there, but I know to lower my expectations for plant-based food and healthy options. One more bonus - they gave us a 15% off coupon for our next visit. I'll definitely try it again and maybe pack my own seasoning, non-dairy creamer, and a sliced lime! read more

Missy and the staff are so kind and friendly making sure you have everything you need and want. When we first arrived to Townsend and wanting to decide each of the 4 breakfast mornings where we would spend each. Well...we are on day 3 and each day since the first we've come back. Could have been Five Stars review. I'll say great views, good food (limited menu), breakfast only till noon. They charged us a $3.00 shared plate charge even when we added an extra side to the meal and ordered 2 drinks. So when you (waitress) tell us the Hamburger is huge and up charge for cheese 1.00 on an already 13.99 burger with potato chips (no fries on menu) we both could not have eaten a burger a piece. When questioned about plate charge waitress could not justify why. So not sure we would go back. No desserts either. read more

They were understaffed when we went which is fine but the communication was still bad. They were out of gravy (aka flour and water) but weren't telling the people ordering dishes that included it. (The people at the table next to us complained about this). Things we would ask for (extra plate, maple syrup, more coffee) wouldn't show up. We were never asked how everything tasted. Or checked on at all. The waiting area (a gift shop) was filled with glass pieces that looked bought from goodwill and then painted by a kindergartener who liked rainbow colors. And then sold for $$$. If the owner is the crafter she should spend more time on running a restaurant. Or painting the patio area. Was sitting by the river nice? Sure. It's easy to miss this little gem since it sits back off the main road. We got there pretty early and snagged the last inside spot overlooking the river. There were more tables by the river located on the patio, and we saw a couple enjoying their meal with their dog out there. All of the employees were very friendly and seemed to all be helping serve all of the tables. I had the breakfast burrito with all kind of delicious fillings. I enjoyed it with some salsa and hot sauce. My husband had the oatmeal with berries and a half order of biscuits and gravy. Don't let the outside fool you...looks a little rundown but the inside is nice. We enjoyed breakfast on an early Friday morning and since we got there soon after opening, we were able to snag a table with a view. It started to get busy soon after we sat down. The staff was very welcoming and attentive, came around several times to refill drinks and warm up coffee. We ordered a breakfast burrito, biscuits and gravy, eggs and bacon. Everything was very tasty, however, I wasn't a huge fan of the eggs. I got them with cheddar cheese and they were a bit too cheesy. The B&G was on point though...creamy with chunks of sausage. Biscuits (with the B&G) were very good, I'm not sure but they tasted like they had put them on the grill for a bit. The only reason I took a star away was that I felt like they could have given you more for the price. Being a big breakfast fan it is tough to find somewhere up to my standards. Stopped in before golfing with the wife. I had the country fried steak and eggs, she went with the loaded potatoes bowl with bacon and gravy on the side. The food and service was everything you would expect. Both meals were amazing. Don't think there is anything you could go wrong with on the menu. Highly recommend trying the gravy and fried potatoes at least. The wife was pleased with the tea selections. She ordered hot tea and they brought a cup with multiple options. I went with the cranberry juice but pretty sure it was fruit punch. It was still good but not what I want at breakfast. I will blame this on it being out of season and not having cranberry juice available. Great food, friendly staff and beautiful view. Give it a try yourself and see. read more

We came to Townsend to do the Smoky Mountain half marathon. After the run we were excited to try Good Vibes because of their menu. It was not too crowded upon arrival but we could see that staff was overwhelmed. They told us it was a 20 minute wait. We watched as the staff hurried to meet customers needs. We also watched as 4 staff discussed how to make lemonade from the powdered mix. Some staff were eating in full view behind the bar. One server came in the front door visibly upset that she " took a header outside" and she was exhausted. After waiting over a half hour a party of three arrived. After viewing the dining room we discovered multiple empty tables. Staff decided to take the party of three over us (4) although we waited longer. That's when we left. They decided shortly thereafter to close. I realize many places are understaffed. However, staff never communicated with us regarding our wait. Then to take another party over us was unacceptable. OH MY GOD AMAZING! we got the breakfast platter with 2 eggs, a choice of bacon, sausage or ham and a pancake. The bacon was so good and crispy and the pancake was HUGE! You could get any flavor pancake you wanted for no up charge! All this food for $9.99!!!! We got the cinnamon swirl pancakes and they were the best ones I've ever had and I'm a cinnamon pancake connoisseur! Will be back when we're in the area 12/10! Do not waste your time. First off it's a long wait to be seated, they don't even greet you or say hello when making eye contact. The morale of the place is pretty dead. The river is literally the only thing keeping them in business. One order is for the biscuits and gravy with sausage. Other order was their pancake breakfast with the cinnamon pancake (over easy eggs and 2 sausage pork Pattie's). The wait for the food was 40 minutes. The place isn't packed, it's slow. Pretty sure it was the owner- brought us wrong plates of food, no big deal, mix ups happen. But this is where it got real folks, biscuits are rock hard, gravy is from a can, i don't even know how to explain their sausage. The pancake wasn't a pancake. It was a hard puck, too much baking soda pancakes. They couldn't even get it to cook all the way that they cut the pancake underside 4x's before bringing the food out. Their "cinnamon" was just adding a clump of cinnamon to the batter on the grill. The eggs were missing 1/2 of one and they couldn't even cook the eggs- over easy. It was an explosive disaster that left them looking like curdled milk met an over cooked egg. Don't expect your server to do their job. They only take your order once, bring you your drink, mess up bringing you your food and don't come back until you hunt them down for the check. Pretty pathetic. Go next door! The food here was delicious. We were here for breakfast. I had the skillet breakfast. My husband had the sunrise and we split a single blueberry pancake. While the breakfasts were delicious (loved the biscuit that's seared crispy on all the sides), the amazingness is the blueberry pancake, with the lemon butter taking it to a whole other level!!! We were twenty minutes into our 35 min. wait for breakfast, when I heard the waitress tell the kitchen something was sent back because it tasted like it was cooked in old oil. When we were ordering, the table across from us sent pancakes back because of a hair. We ordered hot tea, the water was warm. We sat inside because it was cold, they sat us by the door to the balcony and left it open. Food came cold and was average at best.
