Not particularly impressed with the women's store, and the service is glacially cold at best. But they have some beautiful new overstock men's dress shirts which are worth braving the off-putting staff. They do make you surrender purses, though, which seems absurd (shoplifting is a problem in every store; I understand checking bags, but checking a small purse seems power-trippy). After reading the story of the woman who never got her purse back, I would recommend leaving your purse in the car and bringing your wallet in your pocket. read more

No doubt, Goodbyes has treasures -- but the treasures do not outweigh the ridiculous prices. When I last poked my nose in, I saw a 'gibson' brand blazer (from Nordstrom). It was priced higher at Goodbyes USED than it is new at Nordstrom. Thanks, but I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

I have been shopping at the women's store for about 4-5 years and recently brought clothing there to sell, for the first and only time. The people working there are mostly unhelpful and seem angry - I attribute this to the "environment" created by the owner or "grumpy demeanor" is in the job requirement. If you want to bring clothes to sell there, prepare to be humiliated in front of other customers. The nicely cleaned pressed, hung or folded clothes you bring will be rummaged through very quickly and "discarded" items will simply be thrown on the counter without explanation. Even the items they keep they are not careful with - letting things hang/fall on the floor and get dirty. My light-colored jacket I brought directly from the dry-cleaners was unceremoniously dropped on the floor. If you want an explanation as to why they are not taking an item be prepared for condescending, rude and awkwardly loud explanations about a stain or tear or whatever. They treat you like they are doing you a favor instead of this being a mutually-beneficial transaction. I brought in $200 never-worn jeans I bought in a boutique in Australia - they were discarded at first because the label "sounded" like a cheap American brand that they don't carry - you can to watch what they are doing because again, no explanation will be given. And as another example, they will tell you they do not take brands like Banana Republic (too "low" for their store) but then they turn around and take a BR skirt I brought in. The whole experience left me feeling really disrespected and upset. I will continue to donate clothes to organizations that help women dress in business attire or to Good Will. read more

Due to the change in leadership, Goodbye's now seems to accept consignments only if the labels are not on their reject list. This has lead to a much less interesting selection. Goodbye's, please look at the quality, look and appeal of the clothes that come in, instead of the labels. Regardless of price, it seems to have gotten harder and harder to find anything in the last year. read more

this store is hit or miss, I've bought about 10 items from there, some are good but most ended up being items that I regret buying. Also, the staff treat everyone like shoplifters. The boutique further down sacramento street, The Designer Consigner, is better. Their prices are actually lower and the clothes aren't as tightly packed on the racks. read more

Hey I once saw a weird sighting of granny Ukranian jewish babushka, her huge fat husband (they were about 60 years old), distracting grandson around 12 years old and noisy 8 year old sister and they were busy stuffing grandpa's pants and back of shirt with clothes---- underneath his beige raincoat...shoplifting professionals. This is the store where women of means apparently unload their old treasures so that those of us with shallower belts can reap the benefits. Beautiful clothing with designer labels for very cheap, I've never not found something here. It takes some time to paw through everything, though. Allot a couple of hours, and don't go in expecting anything too specific. The staff can be very helpful though; they're honest if you ask their opinions ("That jacket is nice, but it could fit you better. It's okay, but not super flattering on you."). Some of them can be a little bit abrasive, but if you are respectful and reasonable, they will go out of their way to assist you in your mission. I've never been able to sell them anything of mine. Since they only take what's in style and in perfect shape though, you win! read more

I have bought a few items from this store so when it came time to clean out my closet I brought my items here to sell. What an absolutely horrible experience!! I thought I would be able to sell a few nice pieces here because the clothes I've seen being sold isn't exactly high fashion. There's a lot of drabby old clothes with okay brands. I had three bags of clothes which I apparently brought to the wrong store location. I had to drag all three bags across the street and upon entering they told me I had to drag the bags to another door that was on the other side of the store. No assistance, no help. The woman who would decide what they would accept was super snarky and just rummaged through my clothes like it was dirty underwear. She cherry picked only the super expensive brands but made snide remarks about everything....everything. After fifteen minutes of her abuse I drew a line and told her it was over and that I was done with her. She went to the register to mark up what she wanted but I told I wouldn't be selling anything with Goodbyes if this is how they treat their customers. I took the items she wanted away and scolded her for throwing my rejected clothes all over and not helping me fold them back up to take away. I understand that I don't have 100 Gucci boots in my bag but it's not KMart junk either. If you want to maintain your customer base try and treat them with some respect because the super primo designer goods we have waiting in the back of our closets won't be going to you to sell. Also, it's not all about the label. Try and look beyond dumb labels. read more

We all have them in our closets. No, not skeletons -- those items of clothing, the purchase of which seemed wise at the time, but which we just. never. wore. Say you dropped a few pounds and those beautiful (and expensive) Katayone Adeli pants didn't fit anymore. Or say you went to Vegas, decided you were JLo and needed to purchase camel and red Jimmy Choos that matched nothing you owned. Or say you're nothing like me but you also want to turn your fashion past into cash. Take the stuff to Goodbyes and consign it! Full disclosure: they are picky. Items must be in good shape, in style, in season -- and they are label snobs. But if you sell to them successfully, you get a happy little check every month. Also a good place to shop. I thought that this store had some really good stuff.... for women in their 30's and up. I thought the clothes were clean and it didnt smell. I did not even think that the people were rude, only looking over your shoulder at all times. I do think that the clothing is a bit outdated I found a fab burberry trench for 100$ in great condition. I usually can find something anywhere but I really had to dig here. I only give 3 stars because the lack of exciting clothing. I will have to check it out again. read more

DKNY, Tahari, Miu Miu, - many more I just can't think right now. There are always great steals, you just have to give yourself enough time to go item by item. Reserve 1.5hr at least to search. I used to buy a lot of pencil skirts here (all named brands, generally $35 or so). I'm still p o'd that I didn't take home an LV speedy from there :( read more

Over the years I have gotten some great deals at this little shop. My favorite (and I still have them) is a pair of Kate Spade slingbacks. They were brand new! And I paid less than half of retail. You don't always hit it so lucky at Goodbyes, but if you visit somewhat frequently, you're likely to find some treasures. It requires a little digging. But hey, if you're visiting consignment shops, that's always the case and a big part of the fun. read more

I Marie Kondo'd my closet a few months back and wasn't quite sure where to resell my higher end items. As a bit of a hedge / experiment, I took half to Goodbyes and sent half to ThredUp. In my mind, the items sent to each were approximately the same in quality and amount. The payment I received back from Goodbyes was almost TEN times the amount I got back from ThredUp. I would absolutely recommend them for any consignment needs. I thought their set up and process seemed very fair and easy. The only thing I'd say is that the drop off process wasn't as straight forward as it could have been. There were some brands that they weren't accepting that I should have just left at home (now that I know I'll call ahead next time). I also had to wait a little while for someone to help me - it would have been great if they would take appointments or let you get in a virtual line from your phone. i heard great things about this place from a friend, and since i had a lot of designer items i wanted to consign, i walked in with a bagful of clothes for the woman to take a look at. when i first walked in, she stared at the bag of clothing i had with me and wasn't too thrilled because i had a lot of items. geez, it's a CONSIGNMENT STORE, isn't it? anyway, she barely looked at ANY of what i had and instead said, "i'm not taking any of these". i looked around and noticed a lot of the same labels being SOLD in the store. that was over a year ago. i remember it so vividly because the store owner was a COMPLETE BITCH. F*&K this place! i am NEVER going here again to consign or buy and neither will my friends. if an employee or owner is reading this, i have two words for you: attitude adjustment. read more

I shop a lot up and down the fashion food chain -- 99.99% up. Never will I darken their doors again as customer service is not a condition of employment in this store, which incidentally is in some of the most premium boutique real estate of the city. I buy from all the big names, and never do I feel treated like an inmate. At Goodbyes, you'd think their merchandise was current season, new Prada. Alas, it's not. The staff is wholly unwelcoming..especially those staff with the less fortunate looks (ahem). Please enjoy, instead, Designer Consigner (DC) down the street: After poor treatment at GByes, I immediately regained my faith in retail with the sweet, charming sales gal at DC. No one asked me to check in my little purse...so I rewarded DC with a cash sale for a lovely Helmut Lang jacket (new w/tags for $50). In short...go to Ross/Marshalls/Nordstrom Rack/anywahere, before supporting Goodbyes. Good bye Goodbyes. read more

Be aware and keep your own record of what you have left at the consignment store!!! A few of my brand new with tags brand name dresses got stolen by the staff(s) after I dropped off more than hundred items of clothing each trip and never listed them on my account. I have tried to contact the owner and filed a complaint to BBB but no result. I will never deal with the dishonest store again. read more

No doubt this store has good value for many of its items. However, that does not outweigh the outrageous treatment of a customer that I witnessed recently during a visit. She had asked a sales clerk to ask another customer with a non-service dog to leave the store because of her allergies, and instead the customer who asked got thrown out in a very loud confrontation. They didn't pull her aside quietly and ask her to leave... they threatened her with calling the police! No thanks, don't need to shop at a store where the employees would threaten a customer openly and loudly, as if she were a shoplifter. Once outside, I talked to a shopper about this incident, and she told me the owner is a nut case. I will NOT be back. read more

This store and its counterpart across the street is a lot of fun. You need to be prepared to really "hunt" because it's tightly packed. The shoe selection is quite good and well organized by size. Great prices, too. Their policy is you have to check all bags. This was annoying, because while I get its a policy, I don't want to leave my wallet and cell phone with some stranger behind a counter. The woman working there has an abrasive way of talking and sorta "barked" at me that I had to check my bag and how it was 'policy'. I thought she could have been a bit nicer, but I guess she's sick of having to tell people the same thing over and over again especially when it's posted on big signs at the entranceway. Anyhow, so, I had to check my purse and carry my wallet and cell phone around with me. Not very convenient for shopping (juggling wallet and cell phone). If you go, take a very tiny purse with you about the size of a wallet! I can't imagine they'd make you check it if it was that small. I found a few pairs of great shoes and also a great leather skirt for about 40 bucks each on average. read more

I love goodbyes! I am a frequent seller with this store; I have read other reviews of customers feeling disrespected by staff. This has not been my experience and I have been selling here for over a year. People have to not take it personal if they do not want to sell your items! If they sold clothing with holes or stains or banana republic there would be reviews complaining about how slummy it is! Goodbyes gives you a very fair percentage (50%) and pays on time! I am happy with the service and will continue to drive bi weekly from the peninsula to drop my things off! Highly recommended, friendly staff and mostly high quality items. read more

Goodbyes is such a find that I hardly shop for clothing anywhere else now. I do not like large department stores where you must go to different floors for jrs, misses, dressy, etc. Here, there is always a good selection in a compact space. I don't always find what I want the same day, but I always find something tasteful, at a good price. Lots of things are new, with tags still on. Shoes are especially good buy! read more

Very disappointed with the way I was treated today. I have spent several hundreds of dollars at this store over the years and I appreciate that it is consignment, therefore you buy as is. However I purchased a pair of shoes on Friday, I wore them on Monday and the back strapes on both shoes snapped. I brought them back today only to be told that no refund or exchange will occur and that if it broke, too bad. The assistant then suggested that I bring them to a shoe shop to be mended at my own expense. I told her I would never be back due to the way I was treated as a returning customer. Bad customer service, lack of insight regarding potential revenue of future sales, a true meanness and lack of good faith. read more

This place is just ok. I find that the racks are hard to peruse because they are overfull making the shopping experience a bit frustrating. They would be better off with less inventory that is easier for customers to look through. Changing room only allows you to try on a few items at a time. So if you have a stack of things to try on, you have to keep going back out and need to wait for the changing room attendant to do the swap. have found some good things here but Customer service is "meh". They are not always very friendly nor are they particularly helpful. They don't really know what they have in inventory. I recently consigned some items there. After scoping out the store and seeing many outdated, overly priced "leftovers from the back of a closet" i thought my designer clothing would have a good chance in this store. I was WRONG! The prices they set on my items had no bearing with current design trends. A pair of once worn au courant shoes were priced at $25, a marvelous dress (freshly cleaned, no stains, fabulous color & design) was $35. But you will have to fork over the moola for aged, outdated Blahniks. Sometimes great for the buyer but not for the seller, i.e., moi. The store is not worth the effort when a tax write off donation will net you more $'s and take less time and hassle. read more

After brunch with my 2 daughters we decided to go to Goodbyes. It was my first time to shop here. A lot of good stuffs for reasonable price. I ended up buying 3 pairs of good shoes, a cross body designer purse and a pretty top. My daughter is happy with 2 pairs of really nice flats and the other one bought a nice summer dress and top. We all went home happy. There's no doubt that I'm coming back soon! read more
