Date night with my husband tonight, we decided to try Goodfolks. Wow amazing! We were greeted by the hostess with a huge smile. Got our choice to sit upstairs or downstairs. Our waiter Mark came promptly to our table and took great care of us. He was extremely helpful with suggestions and questions. He was professional, attentive, and friendly. This is unfortunately hard to find these days. We ordered Brussel Sprouts for an appetizer. They were amazing! Then we split Chicken & Waffles for dinner! The chicken was so juicy but perfectly fried. The waffles were light and fluffy with a rich honey syrup. The food came out so quick! We will definitely be back! The service was awesome. The ambiance was very nice. The food? It was our first visit, so maybe we picked the wrong things or maybe it was an off day??? The fried chicken was more highly seasoned than I can really tolerate, but the "fried rice with vegetables" had no seasoning at all. Salting water for rice, as with pasta needs to taste almost like sea water or the pasta or rice will be bland. It was a shame really. We've wanted to try this place for a long time. Will we again? The chicken didn't disappoint! I would agree this is there best item on the menu and probably what keeps people going back. I also had the mashed potatoes and truffle Mac. Both were good but the Truffle Mac and Cheese could have used more cheese (thicker texture as well). I was disappointed by the mini biscuits with honey. The honey was runny and the biscuits not flavorful and slightly dry. All in all a good experience and would recommend the chicken. read more

Good folks in Georgetown is very good!! We've been a few times and it has never disappointed. They do change the menu quarterly and currently have no red meat but what they have is fantastic. we have the Nashville hot sandwich, the barbecue shrimp, and the roasted brussels sprouts all amazing. My husband came here for lunch on a whim. The place is so cute! Our server was so lovely. We love fried pickles, so we had to try them here. They were perfect for dipping. It's an adorable space in a historic building; right now it's even lightly decorated for the holiday season. What made our visit feel just a little "off" were the details. Firstly, they only serve brunch on Sundays. This would make sense for your typical morning-to-early-afternoon weekend crowd, but for 7:00 p.m., it just wasn't what we were craving. We would have loved to have tried their dinner options. A note on the menus: they were pretty grimy (leftover crumbs and smears), which, needless to say, didn't make for a great first impression. We started with the fried pickles. They were delicious, and I would order them again. For entrees, I went for the patty melt, my spouse chose the chicken sliders. Both were good and served in hearty portions, though they were simple and lacked in creativity. For drinks, we had a mule and their "old town fashioned." They do the classics well. Our server was kind, cheerful, and full of energy; impressive as our time at the restaurant was near to closing. He was very knowledgeable about his workplace and informed us about their daily happy hour as well as the all-day happy hour on Tuesdays. For our party of 2 we waited half an hour which gave plenty of time to walk the square while waiting. Inside is nice with two levels of dining. We sat upstairs and I was a little weary since we were right against the ledge with tables directly below us. Service was quick and I'd recommend this place to others. We usually go to First Watch for brunch on Sunday but decided to try this place instead, and the service was terrible, and the food was ok. The place was open and airy, had a chill vibe, and the location was superb, right off Georgetown square. Upon entering, our party of 4 was seated right away as it was pretty empty downstairs. We were greeted a few mins after being seated. We ordered 4 regular coffees, Brussel sprouts, and the biscuit sampler. The Brussel sprouts came before the coffee, and the biscuit sampler never arrived. The coffee came, and we noted we were without spoons. We asked for them and were given spoons that were the size of the cup! The interesting thing - is when we asked for smaller spoons, our server asked are they too big?!? She must not drink coffee, or this brunch place must not have normal-sized spoons! We also had to ask for plates to share the appetizers. The brussel sprouts were delicious, and if I went back, I would actually order them again! For brunch, we ordered 3 salmon toasts, the Chipotle Egg Skillet, and the strawberry shortcake waffles. The salmon toast was messy and not really that flavorful. It tasted like a lot of cream cheese on regular bread with small amounts of smoked salmon and salad heaped on top! The egg skillet was described as eggs simmered in chipotle tomato sauce and ended up being over easy eggs served with heated tomato sauce poured over the top served in a skillet! The eggs were pretty runny, so we sent them back to be better prepared. The waffles were ok - they tasted like regular thin waffles smothered in strawberry sauce - not sure where their shortcake part came in... After we got our main dishes, we asked about the biscuits, and then our server realized they didn't come, so someone then brought it out promptly. The biscuits were fairly good. We also had to ask for coffee refills and that seemed like a chore! The server looked around like she wasn't sure if there was more coffee or something. I kinda feel like if you're serving brunch - coffee would be something that a person would have to ask for - kinda like water! Once we were done and got the check, we noticed that the server did remove the biscuits from the bill, which was a nice touch. But overall, I don't know if it was just the poor service, lack of adequate descriptions of the food or what but this was not a great first time experience! read more

Our server was Hannah was amazing! However, the food was not! Granted, it was the 'Brunch' menu, if we had known, we wouldn't have stayed. I had the chicken salad sandwich- on a hamburger bun, mayo overload and with weird shaped fries. Oddest pairing ever! There was nothing on the Brunch menu that looked appealing, they should have named it fried chicken fest. My husband had a Caesar salad with chicken, said had no flavor. Daughter hated the salmon toast. Son ate grits and fried chicken, only plate that was more than 1/2 eaten. Hannah was so sweet, she saw we were disappointed with the food. Went here for breakfast with wife and it was fantastic. We didnt have a reservation and were immediately sat but it was pretty crowded so probably best to have one. We shared the biscuit sampler and i had coffee and wife had a bloody mary. All the biscuits were great, i really liked the maple butter but wife preferred the gravy. This is a wonderful place to visit if you are near the Georgetown area! We had dinner here and it was delish! We got drinks, appetizers, and dinner! It was a tasty outing for sure! My husband and I started off with the Goodwater and Locket Key both were refreshing and delicious beverages. We also started with the queso and meat lollipops. Both were also great! I think the queso was a bit spicy for my taste so if you are not one for spicy I would not get it. They also have the small yummy ice for their water! I was delighted to see that! The ambiance is lovely, even though we were seated on the second floor it was a fun environment to dine in! We then moved on to the entrees. I got the buffalo chicken gnocchi and my husband ordered the fried chicken. As his side he got the esquites which was very tasty! Our server was kind and helpful! Parking was somewhat hard to find but wherever you park you can get there easily! There was no wait but as soon as we were seated for about ten minutes, we noticed the place fill up quick! 2nd visit ever and I have to say less impressed today with food. The service was out of sight dynomite, but the food was blah. I ordered the chicken fried steak which wasnt good. It was chewy and almost seemed like meat that was frozen then thawed fast to cook. The texture wasnt good. I ordered it w gravy on side and it was delivered on top (no big deal, *happens) but I wish I didnt send it back. The original order was soft scrambled eggs w gravy on side. Upon corrected order, eggs that looked originally soft and fluffy were redelivered flat, hard and rubbery. Then the steak was just ughh with its chewyness, to add salt to injury the potatoes were cold. I immediately thought the potatoes were from first order scraped to new order. Lastly, mimosas are $7 why was I charged $9? Once again not a reflection on staff whom were really good. I just couldnt send a plate back 2nd time. Goodfolks I still love ya and off days happen. I had heard great things about Goodfolks and came excited to try some great chicken. Brought my kids also as they are all chicken connoisseurs. We came before the dinner rush and got seated right away which was great. The layout is nice and clean, and our server was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately those were probably the highlights. Between 4 of us we tried the various forms of chicken from bone in to strips to chicken and waffles. The bone in chicken reminded me basically of original recipe kfc at twice the price. All the forms of chicken had a loose batter that barely stays on the chicken and the chicken itself is extremely bland. My son did enjoy the waffle that came with the chicken. These were the best biscuits and gravy I have had in years. Overall, this place is just KILLING IT. We had intended to go to Monument Cafe (a Georgetown staple), but the wait was an hour and a half. Monument is the real deal but we needed brunch. So we walked over to Goodfolks and were immediately seated. The location is perfect - right on the edge of the downtown square. Cool outside look, and an actual breathtaking interior. The two story, corridor layout lends to a real French Quarter feel inside. Our server, Jered, came right over with ice waters and got our drink orders. Great vibe for a Sunday brunch, for sure. Jered returned with our mimosas and made a joke about how he'd just learned the trick for walking down stairs and not spilling drinks, which is a very important for having Sunday mimosas. He kept us entertained and the service was excellent. I got the biscuits and gravy because I'd been burned my last few attempts. The plating was an awesomely layered stack of oily gravy, seared quarter sized links, fresh flaky biscuits, and a fluffy egg on top. *Chef's kiss* delicious! My wife and our friend got the chicken and biscuits soup, and they both really enjoyed it. A real creamy layered flavor with chunks of tender chicken and again the fluffy biscuits. Can't wait to come back here. The place has great bonuses: low tables, they sell cool merchandise, plus delicious kitchen smells and impeccably clean bathrooms. The Georgetown square is great, too! Impromptu choice for dinner, but I had been meaning to try this place for months! I knew it would be right up my country man's alley, so it was a no brained! We were seated upstairs and our server, Gracie (southern hospitality in human form), took us through the menu and made recommendations based on our likes. I started with the chicken and biscuit soup, which I shared with Kelly. We both loved it! Creamy and chock full of tender chicken, fresh veggies, and chunks of buttermilk biscuit. A cup was plenty for us because it is so rich! For dinner, he had the two piece chicken with a hearty serving of potato salad, which was really good, and I'm not usually a huge fan of potato salad, aside from my mom's. The chicken came with their come back sauce and the biscuit had a side of honey butter, courtesy of Gracie's recommendation. That honey butter would be good on anything! My boyfriend said it reminded him of when he was a boy and his mama would take fresh cream and mix it with molasses. As an aside, isn't it great when a meal can transport you to a cherished time in your life! I had the starter fried catfish with jalapeño remoulade since I was already feeling full from the soup. It was the perfect size, and I even shared a couple of bites with Kelly. The catfish tasted very clean and fresh! Lightly crisp with a cornmeal crust. I loved it! They were out of the Jalapeño Ranch dipping sauce , for the 4 piece tender with Truffle Mac and Vegetable Fried Rice (recommendation from the server) The Truffle Mac was dry and screaming for flavor, the Vegetable fried rice seemed like Steamed Rice and chopped veggies - not pan fried and no seasoning at all and the chicken tenders were just not a desirable flavor. The biscuits were crumbly dry and begging for a pinch of salt or salted butter or anything to help them. Even Josh's Mom could season food better! It is sloooooooowwwww. Every part of the process. Getting your initial drink order. Waiting for them to come take your food order. Trying to find someone to refill your water. It's painful. Tried Goodfolks for Sunday brunch. Having dined here under previous owners/names it was nice to see that investments had been made to brighten the very clean restaurant. The service was good with prompt and friendly servers. The restaurant was crowded but food still came out fairly quickly. The banana pecan French toast was tasty but the bottom of the buns were burned. The Chipotle Egg Skillet was not what was expected. A heavy tomato paste taste masked almost everything else. Could taste the green pepper but the chipotle was just a wee warmth with little flavor. The consistency was like spaghetti sauce and the eggs were all but lost - only the need to cut them once you fished them from the sauce made them apparent. I'm sure there are good things to eat in this restaurant and the passing fried chicken looked good. But I'm not sure when I'll try it. The restaurant is loud - cacophonous in fact. My partner found it impossible to hear and we ended up texting each other to converse. We were at a tiny table right up against a booth which presented audio challenges of its own, but it may be just the building design coupled with the crowd. read more

Inside the old 'Burger University' building off of the Georgetown Square, Goodfolks is a welcome addition to the growing restaurant scene on the Square. The renovations and redecorating inside gives it a fresh and inviting atmosphere. The menu is mostly Southern style comfort food, and the fried chicken has a starring role on the menu. Try the pimento cheese appetizer or the chicken and dumplings soup- both delicious. They took my name and number to text me when a table was available, which was really nice so we didn't have to wait there. Given the location in the square, we walked around while we waited and had a drink a few doors down. The staff were friendly and service was good. We ordered the patty melt and the two piece tenders with Mac n cheese. Both were pretty good, but the Mac n cheese was a little dry. The potatoes that came with the patty melt were really good! I really liked the breading on the tenders, it was crispy and light! We ordered the brownie sundae and the key lime pie for dessert both were very good. My favorite was the sundae!
