I believe this place is mediocre compared to some of the chicken places I have been too. The chicken tenders are not jumbo they are about the size of canes so when ordering keep that in mind. Macaroni is delicious, chicken is average nothing to rave over. Chicken biscuits soup has little to no flavor, too much heavy cream or milk and very little seasoning, very bland. Salad comes already tossed in dressing so lettuce was soggy, lemonade was good not to sweet not to sour. Over all this place is definitely a 5 out of 10, very average but definitely a cute ambience. The food at this place is fantastic, and the staff is wonderful. Sofia, our waitress, provided excellent service. We started with chips and queso as an appetizer, but the chips were soggy. After we mentioned it, they promptly brought us fresh, warm chips, which were delicious. The chicken fried steak was the highlight for me, and my kids really enjoyed their chicken tenders. We love coming to Goodfolks for dinner! Both times we've come in for dinner, Julia has been our server. She is so friendly, attentive, hard working, knowledgeable about the menu, happy to answer all our questions--the service she delivers is just impeccable. Julia is extremely personable, professional and she really goes above and beyond as a server, which isn't something you see a lot at restaurants nowadays. It was impressive, too, because the entire downstairs dining room was filled up and it looked to us like the vast majority of the tables were being cared for by Julia. We observed her moving swiftly from table to table, checking in on every guest in the restaurant, refilling water, clearing plates out of the way and just always going the extra mile that distinguishes excellent customer service from being just plain "ok." Julia literally never missed a beat! She delivered our rather complicated food order 100% accurately and at perfectly timed intervals (ensuring our apps/soup came out first), and not once did Julia let the sheer number of tables she was in charge of affect the quality of the service she provided. I was a regular for a while and stopped going because I was busy and did not go out to eat. My review is not a criticism. I reserve five stars for exceptional, and four stars for a good restaurant. The menu is good. It could probably be improved, but is fine given the price point. The bar is good. Again, good, but not exceptional. The staff is very good or perhaps a little better. It is a pleasant place to go. It is clearly liked by many people. It is busy at the right times. I imagine the owner or owners are doing well. It is probably the best sit down restaurant on the square, though there is a hole in the wall Mexican place that I also like given the prices and staff. read more

It was my first time visiting this restaurant. Upon first impressions, I liked the modern and clean interior design of the restaurant. The wait staff were friendly and had great customer service. During lunch there was a happy hour of half off appetizers, so we ordered the honey sriracha brussel sprouts. It was a little spicy but the brussel sprouts were cooked just right. The chicken and waffles was not too sweet even with the syrup. I just wished the tenders were a bit flatter so it was easier to cut when eating it with the waffles. 3/14/23 - party of 4 After eating at several establishments around the Square, it was now time to try Goodfolks. Wait was to be 20 minutes, but after 8 minutes we were seated. ( always nice to be called early) Ambiance is nice , we were seated upstairs. (There's and elevator AND bathrooms upstairs) Drinks: Happy hour :-) , but we all felt the drinks were weak. Starters: Appetizers - Brussel sprouts Amazing , ( definitely order this appetizer) and Andouille Lollipops were delicious. Dinner: Most Entrées, are in the $16-$20 range. 1:Chicken & Waffles GOOD syrup was really good. 2:Chicken strips were of generous size. 3: Andouille & shrimp was tasty. 4: wife hade the catfish App and fries and liked it. The catfish was gently fried. Our waitress was Natalie who was attentive and did a wonderful job insuring we had a great experience. Final Thoughts: Over all a nice establishment. We are visiting from out of town and tried this place out because it was close to our hotel and pictures looked good on Yelp. Pros: the customer service was great. Our waitress was sweet, patient with us, and when we had a few things missing from our order or request, she was very attentive. The ambiance was cute. The food was yummy I'm just still trying to figure out if I would ever go back because the price tag. I got the 3 tender meal which came with a side and a biscuit and total it was $21. I personally felt like it was a fancy version of a Canes meal and while it was good, not sure if it was worth the money. I think maybe I would go back for a celebration of some sort. The wait for the food was quite long but I'm not sure if that's because they make it fresh? For sauces the "good sauce" is tasty. The waitress compared it to canes sauce and I think it was pretty close to it. I'd skip the honey mustard -- it was bad. Mac and cheese was delicious and the biscuit was decent. I ate here 2x in 2 days!! Loved the Fried Chicken Salad and peanut butter pie on Day 1. I had the lavender lemonade, which was a great NA option for lunch. Went back for brunch the next day and had Grandma's... divine! It's like a Croque Madame, served with crispy thick fries. Get the Good Sauce! They have like 4 types of mimosas and I requested a blend of apple-cranberry, it was the prettiest rosé color and just the way I like 98% champagne with just a splash of juice. Service was prompt and the space is clean and gorgeous. Tried bites of my friends' items at brunch and they were fantastic. Don't ever skip dessert here!!! read more

Such a nice cool place. Great quick service. We had very good sweet potato fries poutine and bacon sausage lollipops. Salad. Crispy chicken sandwich, fried chicken waffles and pasta with shrimps. All very very tasty. They even had one of my favorites white wine la cremma. It is a corner restaurant, all new and very clean inside, even have elevator if you can't walk the stairs. Let me start out and say our server Christian was FANTASTIC! !!!!! No issues at all with the service. The decor is also great. A nice clean down-home feel. We ordered the Biscuits n Honey butter. The biscuits were a bit over cooked and not soft. We also had the Chicken n Biscuits Soup. That was tremendous. For dinner we had the two piece chicken strip and also the Chickenand Waffles The chicken was great on both dishes, but the waffles were very soft and soggy. Me and a friend visited for breakfast today. I have been to Goodfolks for lunch but never breakfast. Overall, the breakfast is not good in my opinion based on today's experience. First off, they could not (or more likely would not) do an egg white only option for their classic breakfast. Both myself and friend ordered the classic breakfast....and we both agreed on the following about the food: 1. The eggs were flavorless, no seasoning no real fluffiness, overdone. 2. The hashbrowns were flavorless...no seasoning, no browning on the hash, basically tasted like a blanched potato that had been julienned. 3. The bacon was pretty flavorless as well. 4. The toast was not really toast but warmed up bread that did not even come with butter. The strawberry jam (which was pre-packaged) was good however. Overall, I would expect more effort and care for a $12 breakfast. read more

They have owned many restaurants as well as Bed and breakfasts. I am northern Italian. My cousins owned restaurants up north. I worked in catering for years. I really wanted to like this place but it just didn't make the cut. Everything started off good. We were sat pretty quickly for a party of 5. We got our drinks and appetizers pretty quickly and they were all good. Except the catfish was a little bland. It would've been better with maybe a little cajun seasoning. So after appetizers we sat and waited for food for about 45 mins. We were the only ones in this place at one point but they did get a little busy, but every table around us got their food and we were still sitting food less. So I got impatient and asked the waitress what was taking so long because everyone around us was eating and we had been there the longest. Grant it we didn't do any special orders we ordered fried chicken, mashed potatoes and the mac and cheese. And I sat and watched other tables get that very thing. The waitress went away for a few mins and came and back and stated there was a mix up in the system. Not sure what the mix up could be because everyone was eating but my table. I assumed she forgot to put our ticket in. That's the only thing that made sense to me. She brought over some dry and burnt biscuits and apologized. But still no food. 5-7 mins goes by and the manager (I assume) comes by and asks us how was everything and I had to let her know that we haven't received food and had been sitting for 45 mins. She apologized and asked if we needed anything while we wait. We were all just hungry and wanted what we ordered at that point. Another 15 mins goes by and our food finally comes and it is BURNT!! So burnt not even edible. We picked at the food but it definitely wasn't enjoyable. The manager ended up comping the food. Which I am thankful for because this was just all around unacceptable... The staff was ok but not really friendly and it was a slow time where many of the staff congregated and sort of stared at all the diners which was very off putting. The food was not good.
