So, this review is from my son who went to Goodies after a long canoe trip at camp. We now are far away from VT, but I send him back ever year. He last lived in VT 8 years ago, but, here's an excerpt from the letter from camp: "...we got huge ice creams at least a foot tall. Remember that ice cream place back in Vermont called 'Goodies'? 3/19/19 Goodies Snack Shop Addison, Vermont 6035 VT-17, Addison, VT 05491 Living in Scottsdale AZ for my whole life has made me very spoiled when it comes to culinary selections for any given night out or even a quick meal during the day. But I must say that having spent most of my summers in Burlington and Addison Vermont was a complete eye-opener for me. While I thought, I knew everything about good food and fine dining and healthy this and organic that I keep reminiscing about Goodies Sack Bar in Addison Vermont. I wish with all my heart that I could go back to this simple road side ice cream and food stand one more time in this life. If you ever find yourself in beautiful Vermont please treat yourself and pull over to Goodies or another "creemee" stand as they are called by the locals and experience some of the best ice cream that you have ever tried. When it comes to the food served at Goodies it can't be topped by any fast food establishment that I have ever been to. Being that Goodies is a road side establishment I will not compare it to restaurants that are outside its category as a roadside or "fast food". That being said I have never experienced such quality sadly in my life since then. The Ice cream cone is a staple in Americana cuisine and they do not disappoint at all. I can still remember the vanilla creemee cone that I had and how its rich and delectable flavors were just the trick on a hot summers day. This fresh frozen dairy treat will remind you of how it felt to be a kid again. The sizes that you can get for your cone are baby, small, Medium, and large. When in all reality, the sizes should be small, medium, large, and what the heck is that. They are very generous with their soft serve heaven and sell it for next to nothing with the baby at $1.01, small at $2.02, medium at $3.16, and large at $3.76. When it comes to the food itself I can only sadly say very little. This is because I have only ever ordered the double bacon cheese burger. This is due to the fact that I can't move on from it, it is simply the best fast food burger I have ever had and I have no reason to mess with a good thing. While it is not large in stature it is large in flavor, the bacon is so crunchy and crisp it makes you wonder if they have stolen your grandmothers cook book, the beef tastes so fresh that you can only wonder if they are in cahoots with one of the local dairy farms right in its back yard. And all for only $5.96 I don't see it ever being beaten in my book. The ambiance of this establishment will remind you of simpler times. Being that it is on the side of the road in Addison Vermont it is surrounded by farms. There is a farm directly behind it that seems to be in the business of only harvesting corn and is just nothing short of a beautiful back drop for what seems to be the perfect day and a neighboring dairy farm that brings in a wafting overtone of manure that is not going anywhere. While this might bother most of the people in the city I'm from I find it simply perfect. I love ordering my food from a window with the service of people who are nothing but happy to see you and eating my burger and cone on picnic tables surrounded by farms and all of its aromas. This is country livin at its best and the only way they can receive a bad review is form someone who didn't appreciate what it had to offer. read more

This is where you can go for a true creeme. The sizes are ridiculously huge. A medium is about 8 inches of ice cream beyond your cone. Monstrous! The only problem I had was the response i was give when I asked for real maple syrup on my creeme. The high school girls looked at me like I was a little nuts. They had to decide among themselves whether it would be okay or not. They concluded it was okay, but for $1 extra. Sure fine, I don't care. They only gave me a couple tablespoons though, not what I had in mind. I wanted a lot!! Oh well, next time maybe. Still was tasty. I want another. read more

Goodies serves the largest portions of ice cream I've ever seen. They normally have three flavors of soft serve ice cream. The regular chocolate/vanilla, and then some other flavor, like coffee, orange or raspberry that can be twirled with vanilla. They also have burgers and fries, but I've never tried their food. The stand is surrounded by corn fields and during some seasons the stink of manure enhances the the Vermont experience. The manure also attracts many flies. There is always a crowd at Goodies in the evening though. A NY/VT crowd, as the bridge to NY is a mile away. read more

Best tasting creemees I've encountered in my eight years living here in vermont. Most bang for your buck too. Two baby sizes which are bigger than most stands small sizes come to under three dollars total. Might be more if you start adding sprinkles, etc. Simply the best. We went for lunch this time. Goodies opens at noon so don't be early. I had the hamburger with small fries. The patty was juicy and hot and the rest was fresh. It was like the burgers made before fast food. We sat in the shade and watched the world go by on Route 17 including feed trucks and farm equipment. Goodies is out in the country with corn and hay fields as neighbors. We ended the meal with a Creeme. This week it was maple. We ordered a "baby" size which is larger than most small sizes at other Creeme stands. read more

Visited Goodies twice in the last month. Rude customer service. Lost my ice cream on the counter seconds after it was handed to me. The girls working acted like it was a huge inconvienence to grab a sponge. I would have offered to clean it myself had they not been so rude. The first visit my kids friend also lost her cone to the ground. It was such a hardship to bring that bucket of water outside. Good ice cream. Bad service. read more

The creeme portion size for the price you pay at Goodies almost takes me back to the 1980's. Great value! The creemes here were up there with the best I've had around the state. The week I stayed in Bridport, Goodies only had vanilla, chocolate, swirl, and maple on tap, except for my last night there when they finally got black raspberry. I'd argue black raspberry is just as "important" a creeme flavor as maple, and I despaired of getting my hands on one before our vacation ended. I was vacationing with someone who had never heard of creemes before and had never experienced the joy of a black raspberry cone sitting on the hood of a car overlooking a corn field. Goodies is my favorite and only place I will go for a creeme. Flavors change on Friday's so check online to see what the flavor of the week is. Hey, it's a small family run snack shack so they can't carry all the flavors all the time. As for the farms in the area, this is Vermont so if you don't want to experience all of what Vermont offers then this might not be the place for 'city people' after all. Hot summer nights bring out the locals so your neighbor or friends most probably will be there too. I haven't eaten the cooked food here since it was Tutti's, but stopped by this evening with my dad for a shake and a creemee, respectively. Yes, the creemee sizes are ENORMOUS, and great value. The maple shake I ordered, however, purported to contain real maple syrup but tasted awful, like aunt jemima or mrs butterworth. In Vermont??? HORROR!!! So I took it back to the window and asked, just to be sure, and was informed that yes, the maple shake is made with real maple syrup, but that they add 'extra maple flavoring' to boost it. Really? Why bother with the real maple then? The fake flavoring completely covered the real maple flavor and made it taste like burnt caramel popcorn. Utterly disappointing. I was about to ask for a small replacement creemee, but the gal in the window was pretty dismissive, so I didn't bother. Won't be going there again. Frenchy's over in Crown point will do from now on. read more
