This place has gone downhill in a bad way. They used to be known for their great beer selection offering over 30 beers on tap. For this visit they had only 4! We ordered the French onion soup and it was delicious but then came a Caesar salad which was just romaine with some odd croutons and a plastic container of bad bottled dressing. The margarita pizza was next. No sign of fresh basil as the menu describes and barely any cheese. The sauce was not good and was overwhelmed with garlic powder and oregano. The crust was not good at all. The bartender was great and friendly. He told us they were in a bad place because the restaurant was sold and the deal fell through at the end. This would explain the bad food and lack of beer selection. Let's see if this changes as we come into the summer season because if it doesn't it may be Goodnight to Goodnight Irene's. read more

Stopped in for a meal before the last night of Country Music Fest. We have eaten here before. Ambiance is nice family beach bar. They had Chimay White running on tap I got two. Service was great and we ordered the Kielbasa special and a margarita pizza. The sausage was wonderful the pizza not so much. The sauce was like tomato paste and the crust was limp. We had dinner already but didn't want to call it a night so we looked for a place that was open a little later. We came across Goodnight Irene's. They were not even a ten minute drive from where we were staying so that was perfect. They have a private parking lot across the street which we didn't know about and we were able to get a spot in there. A woman saw us looking for two seats at the bar as it was pretty full. She came over to tell me they were leaving if we wanted to grab their spots. So nice of them! We sat at the bar, had some great cold beers, nice conversation with the couple next to us and sang along to the songs the DJ played. He wasn't there when we got there so I'm thinking he started at 10. Service was awesome and it was a good time. We will definitely keep them on our radar for when we are back in the area! read more

I also appreciated that the guy behind the bar was knowledgeable about the beers they had available and he made quality recommendations. The food is standard bar food which is totally fine. Goodnight Irenes has hit an all time low. Was in there last night to watch the Phillies game. The beer selection, which used to define the place, is the smallest its ever been. The place is empty (on a Saturday night) and dirty. You know how poorly run bars just feel sticky? That's Irenes now. It's a sticky dive bar. A roach crawled across the bar while I was sitting there. Pretty sure the bartender saw it; he didn't seem too surprised or concerned. And of course, no transformation from beloved gastropub to hole-in-the-wall dive would be complete without a handful of locals playing darts by the entrance. The outside bar w/ live music is probably enough to sustain this place for a few more years, but why? what it needs is new ownership to breathe some life into the place. ASAP. read more

What happened to this place. Been coming to GNI for years. It was our goto spot. Easily walkable from our shore house. It was great. But it has gone downhill, real bad and real fast. Apparently, they don't have working air conditioning inside. It's always warm and many nights they tie the door open and run a fan. They took all the good original items off the menu. They had a unique and awesome kielbasa sandwich and a unique take on chicken and waffles. Now just typical bar food. Went there to eat tonight, a party of 7. Too bad because the food tasted good but the service was absolutely terrible, from wait staff to the servers. A meal was never delivered and the server staff was very disrespectful and arrogant. Other tables also did not get all of their meals. Wait staff are constantly on their phones rather than ensuring that all meals are served and when one is not, do nothing to ensure it gets delivered timely. The service staff simply doesn't seem to care at all, and the arrogance of the food servers towards the customers is just horrible. Due to hiring sub par staff, they lost 7 paying customers from ever returning. Stay and away from this place and spend your hard earned vacation money somewhere that respects the customer and cares about service delivery. read more

We were visiting Wildwood for a few days, and this place was our FAVORITE stop. They have so many wonderful beers on tap (from ciders to sours to hazy IPAs and everything in between!), and the best wood-fired pizza. Wow! After a buying a condo in Wildwood I have driven by Goodnight Irenes a hundred times. Even after hearing good things, it took ten months for me to go. It was the Facebook post about the Octoberfest that brought me in, and I will be back soon. A friendly local pub, with over 38 beers on tap and a menu that has something for everyone on all, why did it take me so long to go??? On the specials we tried the potato pancakes and pretzel bites which were both very good! I had the fried kielbasa with mustard and long hot peppers, my g/f had the wings. Both were great! There is a dart board and shuffleboard table to play, as well as tv's and music playing. They make their own pizzas, with plenty of choices including a meatball and gnocchi that I can't wait to try. It seems like this place just gave up. It's January and there are still pumpkin beers on the menu. Food is average at best. Cajun chicken sandwich had over cooked chicken and a roll that crumbled while trying to eat it. Pizza was always good here but even that wasn't great. The worst part of the experience was the men's room. It smells as if the patrons just urinate on the floor and it's never cleaned. Absolutely disgusting to have these conditions in a restaurant. Never thought I would be the person to be writing a review, but here I am. Over the weekend my girlfriend, brother, friend, and I stopped by this establishment to grab some food and a drink. We were staying at a hotel by the board walk and Google told us this would be a fun bar for a Saturday night. We sat at the outdoor bar and the bartender asked for all 4 of our IDs. Shortly after he told us to "have a goodnight" and held our IDs. At first we thought it was a joke but finally we realized he was very serious. The bartender said that he gets thousands of fake IDs and believed that our IDs were fake. We all offered to prove that we were of age with second forms of IDs. The bartender proceeded to show us why our real IDs were fake and told us it is under his discretion to deny whoever he wants. At this point we understood that we weren't getting drinks, but we wanted to prove we were or age (early to mid 20s). We told him that he could call the local police to confirm out ID numbers but he refused. When we spoke with the manager the bartender followed behind and he explained how it is under his discretion not to serve us. We explained to the manager we have second forms of IDs and he replied with "he is my best ID guy". Not only was the attitude and service poor, but the lack of management and understanding shocked us. The bartender even claimed to previously live in NYS (where we are from). We ended up going to the Firehouse Tavern (given 3 of us are volunteer firefighters) and had our IDs validated and had amazing service. Recommend going 2 blocks to the Firehouse Tavern instead. read more

We've been coming to Goodnight Irene's since we bought down here 7 years ago. We usually get their pizza! They offer several kinds, but our faves are the Magherita and Boardwalk pizzas. That being said, last night I was in the mood for a burger. I ordered the mushroom burger, no cheese. It comes with carmelized onions and mushrooms and it was one of the best burgers I've had. Goodnight Irene's is open year round and always a good place to grab a drink and snack. The bartenders and staff are always friendly and the service is great. For a bar they have a pretty large menu and usually have blackboard specials. The menus is a step above average bar food. First experience was great, second was just so so. I think it really depends on what time you get there. The service seems to be extremely slow when you're sitting at the tables, but sitting a the bar wasn't horrible. I haven't tried the outside area, which looks nice, but they don't have the same draft offerings as they do inside, so if you want something other than bud light you have to keep coming inside to order one of the specialty drafts. read more
