Goodwill is always good to satisfy your need for treasure-hunting. You just have to be a good picker, that's all. I have found some cool things at this Goodwill, from jewelry to kitchenware. Its a compact store, but clean and well-organized. I mean you can't expect it to be sparkling clean, its Goodwill for Goddess' sake, but it does the trick. Happy treasure hunting! read more

If you don't mind digging through stuff or sifting through the rack of clothes then this is the place for you. You can *definitely* find good deals on clothing and knick knacks. I bought several pieces of "like new" clothes from here and I don't think the prices are bad at all. I know some ppl think it's too pricey but come on $3.99 for most tops and $7.99 for decent quality for jeans is not too shabby. They have quite a bit of brand name clothes like Ann Taylor, The Gap, Old Navy, Abercrombie, Liz Claiborne, and even American Eagle. You just gotta look hard to find the buried treasures. My favorite items I found was a Beauty and the Beast kid suitcase (great for collectors like me), various Hello Kitty items , and loads of tops, jackets, and a couple pair of jeans. My motto these days is recycle and reuse. It's a great way to be GREEN. read more

I would say that at least 1/3 of my closet consists of clothing I've found at thrift stores, and for some reason I love those second hand items more than the brand spankin' new stuff I have purchased. There are several reasons for this: I'm helping the environment by keeping useable garments out of the landfill. The money I spend is actually doing some less fortunate people good. And often times the items themselves are much higher quality/designer label than I would be able to afford otherwise. This particular Goodwill is not my favorite, and it is the one thrift store I mostly walk away from empty handed. The clothes are jammed together very tightly, making it difficult and even more time consuming than usual. Half the time the items fall off the hanger as I'm trying to put it back, and on sales day the line for the dressing room is long. (There are a couple of full length mirrors in different areas, so I will sometimes just stand in front of them and pull clothes on over what I am already wearing. The shopping center it is located is kind of sketchy, so I make sure to only go during daylight hours. And the white haired lady is always there shopping/browsing, and she's not always easy to ignore. Last time she insisted on showing me this rack from housewares that she claimed was vintage because of the cobwebs on it. She's harmless, just overly chatty. read more

This store has HIGH prices compared to other Goodwill stores (and Salvation Army) and their stuff isn't any better and their store is a mess and clerks could use some customer service training. I prefer to shop at the Salvation Army that is just across the street - almost the same kind of stuff and friendly clerks. I've compared prices with the other Goodwill stores in Emeryville and El Sobrante. This store has HIGHER prices. I decided to right this review because the last few times I've been in there I have overheard a few shoppers saying the price is too high for this or for that. I thought I was the only one who noticed. Maybe management will read these reviews and lower their prices. In our current economy who wants or needs to pay those high prices? The other Goodwill stores I've shopped organize their clothes by color, style, don't cram everything together, but not this one. I have enjoyed shopping at this location in the past, a few years ago. I've found some nice items such as a new cashmere sweater and some name brand clothing. I recently returned to find that they appear to have a set price for each type of clothing which is a disappointment since much of the items are also junk that is in poor condition and does not reflect the higher prices. Most of the things I saw on this recent shopping trip looked of poor quality so I left. I will find another thrift store with fair prices to spend my money at. read more

No good will here! Besides being severely overpriced, too cluttered (because nobody buys things overpriced), the 'pricing warden,' Lalita is completely unethical. Check this out! I found an awesome Zara top that is originally $189 per the original tag still attached. That same original tag had the original store's clearance stickers in bright orange marked all the way down to $20. Of course (and as usual), the red GW tag was blank. I asked how much it was. While two clerks discussed it, I continued shopping. One of the two gals came back and said $11.99. Score! I carried it for one hour as I dug (deeply) for more treasures. When I went up to pay, the gal said, oh no,there's no price. I told her that I was quoted $11.99 and she said she didn't have the authority to sell it for that. Of course not...too good to be true. She handed it to 'Lalita' whom I have had very bad experiences with previously, but always maintained my composure graciously to try and score the best deals. Naturally, she took it back to the office. (Eye-roll). Imagine my shock when she came back with a $34.99 price tag! I said how can that be when the original store had it at $20? Further shock...I went to point it out and guess what? The orange clearance stickers had been freshly torn off. She refused to sell it for less than $34.99, and naturally, the two who priced it previously were nowhere to be found. A major exchange of words occurred, and a crowd gathered. Other customers were telling her to at least give it to me for $20. Not a chance. I hate that place. Never going back. read more

Absolutely the worst possible experience I've ever had at one of these. It's as though they don't want to sell anything. I've been there a few times now and the one lady who seems to be in charge is the rudest retail employee I've ever met (and that is no exaggeration). I saw a couple of barstools but was concerned about whether they'd match the rest of my furniture but when I was told I could return them for in store credit, went ahead and bought them. When I decided they weren't a good fit, I decided against them. When I brought them back, they were in no way worse than when I purchased them. But as I began browsing for items to replace them with, this lady, who saw me bring them in and told me where to leave them, hunted me down when she was finished at the register and insisted on seeing and keeping a hold of the receipt. She quizzed me about the return to such an inquisitional degree sounding dubious and reluctant. She kept my receipt, took it to the office, on and on. After hurriedly filling a basket of stuff that would amount to the equivalent amount of the return (same day exchange), I proceeded to the register where no less than three employees swarmed my return asking were going out of coming in and why the return. After getting to the front of the line, the cashier refused to give me a receipt for the items I chose to replace the chair with. Really?! Who does that!? read more

Found a really nice pair of pjs for my 3 year old son for 1.99. When I got to the checkout counter the lady said wow, 1.99? And I replied, yea, it's a great price that's why I'm getting them! She then said, well I don't think they priced this right, it should be a lot more than this, I gotta find someone to get the right price because it should be higher. First of all... The price tag was stuck through the clothes with a plastic barb so someone that works there had priced it at 1.99. Secondly, it's a thrift store! These items are used! Considering this is a "not for profit" organization, I find it pretty ridiculous that they would try to increase the price on something as I'm checking out on an item that was donated. I'm not sure if ill be coming here again, prices aren't what they used to be! The only reason I have 2 stars and not one is because they did have a good selection of kids clothes, just priced too high!! read more

Wow. I can't believe I even go in this store. It definitely is not a destination, I was shopping at the grocery store in the same center and decided to pop in. I found two shirts to try on in their ONE dressing room. It took 40 min for two people in front of me to finish. I should have given up but then I had devoted so much time to waiting already. I decided to buy one shirt and had to wait another 30 min to check out with ONE cashier and 4 people in front of me. It amazes me how bad this store is (same issues as my previous review) and could it possibly be getting worse? How is this management team/store still in business? Most Goodwills are not. This one is no exception. They place anything of real value online, move better goods to wealthier neighborhoods. The prices are horrid. I stop here about one in six trips to thrifts in Pleasant Hill because of the extremely low find rates. Typically I leave without buying. Plenty of my clothes have gotten a second life in this place. Recently our TV was donated as well. I had no idea they take eletronics as well, TV & VCR or DVD players working or none working. Guess the working ones get re-sold, the others go into e-cycling. On our latest visit I also found out the take book donations, heck I had an entire box full sitting in the garage from our recent move..awaiting that book drive at work that never seemed to come together this year. Drop off is very quick and simple, you get a donation receipt. read more

This is part of my regular thrift route - but I always go there second, after Salvation Army. The prices are twice what they are at Salv Army, but the quality isn't twice as good. So there is that. Once in a great while you can find somehting awesome. Don't show too much enthusiasm though. If you do, they are likely to price up the item LOL. Not really, but just something that I've learned over the years. Don't rejoice until you've paid for your items. Most interesting item I've seen there: a Balinese birthing chair. The employees work hard, so offer a kind word, ask how their day is going. Takes very little effort to do this - but so few people do that it's amazing. Favorites include Celestina and Magda, they make me smile. read more

I always find something I want here! Hidden gems for any thrift-store connoisseur! Only 4 stars because I typically find only 1 hidden gem during my visit (in Phoenix area Goodwills, I'd always find at least 3!!). Always great prices! read more

I'm from Southern, CA & i visited this goodwill and I must say their customer service is great. They welcome you, let you know about all sells also this is first store where I've seen a man at the front counter who's very nice and helpful. Nice clean store. Dresses are just jammed on the rack though and it's hard to look at them. Be ready for a work out if you are looking for dresses. (I just glanced over to see that another person says that she almost tore her rotator cuff on the dress section, so I'm not making this up.)Shopping needs to be fun not painful. Shoes are overpriced. I've been to this location twice and both times I found the staff to be very friendly and unique. My problem is that I mainly goodwill shop for books and their books are in a back room which is more private than the rest of the store. On both occasions there was a different creepy guy in the book section which made me feel very uneasy. This last time the one creepy guy was doing something weird to his underwear so I was outta there! read more

If the employee at the cash register doesn't like the price sticker on the item, she changes the price to what "she thinks" the price should be. Has had it happen to me on numerous occasions. Maybe all employees should have a Pow Wow and vote and agree unanimously on the sale price of each item. That might help. read more

Some of the workers are cool, and some of the workers have huge mood swings. Some of the workers are picky on what you bring to goodwill, and some of them don't care. Their parking here is decent, and sometimes you have to drive to the back to drop of the goodwill items. Their store has stuff you can get for cheap. read more

This store is extremely overpriced!!!! I think they forgot they are a THRIFT store. They have lots of nice things but you would never know it because they are displayed so poorly. For example if you are looking for a purse you need to be at least 6 ft tall to go through the mass of purses piled on top of each other on top of the way too crowded and tightly packed clothes racks. Part of the reason they have so much inventory is because they are over priced and VERY RARELY have sales like the salvation army right next door, who have amazing sales weekly. The ONE dressing room that is in the store is a joke compared to the amount of clothes that are in the store. Forget donating anything!!! They are so rude and ungrateful it's embarrassing. They had me empty all my bags out and at one point I had to stand there and put a set of plastic storage drawers (that were in excellent condition) together to prove it was complete. Depending on the day they will only except certain things. They make donating a total inconvenience!!!!!! read more
