Rudest customer service at the donation station I have ever experienced. Will not be back.

Goodwill and Salvation Army are too big of a corporation to need the likes of our donated items. Their top officials are wealthy and little is going to the programs they are supposed to support. Their annual financial report is available online (required by law) which I am sure no one bothers to look at. When you do, don't be shocked to discover that VERY LITTLE of the proceeds go to the programs. There are dozens of real voluntary non-profit thrift shops out there -- donate to them instead or send a box to families overseas; that way you can be sure where your donations really go. read more

Very friendly man named Patrick unloaded two very large chairs that I was donating and everyone was very friendly! An employer even helped carry out the items that I purchased since I was carrying my little one. read more

I'm surprised at the negativity I've seen here of late. I come here at least once a week and never fail to find a brand name piece of clothing in mint condition, many times with tags still on them. The staff Is always helpful and friendly.. maybe the people complaining aren't thankful, respectful and kind. Karma. read more

Two serious issues with this store: 1. There is an impossible amount of clothing crammed into every single rack, it's beyond ridiculous. I'm not a fan of hyperbole for hyperbole's sake, but hand-to-god I'm pretty sure I came close to tearing my rotator cuff while trying to pry a dress free from the compressed tangle of neighboring dresses and jutting clothes hangers just so I could get a look at it. I gave up after about 15 minutes. I'm serious, you guys, you'll just have to see the insanity for yourselves. One of the workers nearby witnessed my struggle and commiserated with me a little as she herself was almost breaking a sweat jamming blouses into the rack while trying to avoid causing the jumble of purses stacked precariously above to become an accessory rock slide. She casually mentioned that they have a backlog of donated merch to get on the floor. A couple of store-wide sales could easily remedy the space issue; management just needs to step up. 2. The prices - holy crap! I have never seen such high prices in a Goodwill. I have nothing more to say about that; it's just unfortunate. read more

Stopped by over the weekend and I have to say one woman in particular was VERY rude! I found a cute jacket for my daughter that had a price tag of $0.00. All of the jackets in the kids area were $4.99, I asked her if I could have it at that price, Rude Magda said NO, you cannot it is $6.99 (the price did not bother me, her attitude did). I went and brought her two similar jackets that were $4.99 and asked why she was charging me more, she simply said because it's bigger! Uhm...it's from the same section and one size up....seriously?! The entire time she treated me like I was bothering her. She then said...have someone go price it. Really? It's my job to get pricing and I don't work there? Wonderful lady in the back (should have got her name) prices it at $4.99 and I give it to my husband to pay for since he has other items. He takes up his $4.99 radio and jacket to pay and she grabs the radio and inspects it telling him why is this $4.99? He tells her that's the price on it....she calls for some guy in the back and he comes up and asks him, is this radio $4.99??!! The guy tells her YES, it's $4.99 because it's a used radio! Paid for the items and left, I will never go there again. That is not how you treat customers! read more

AMAZINGLY EXPENSIVE! Without a doubt the most expensive Goodwill I've ever experienced. Old dresses with discolored pits for $20...not joking! I've from the fashion industry and know every label, how much original prices are, down to what season. Some of their items are more expensive than the original price NEW! Because their prices are so high, they don't turn over their inventory quick enough to accomodate the new arrivals so everything is jam packed you can't even GET YOUR HAND into the rack to shop. Very frustrating experience. There were a few things I saw last week that were so expensive I waited until this weekend when they were 50% off (which doesn't happen often...it's like a solar eclipse or something) and even then, they were MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE REGULAR PRICES AT OTHER GOODWILLS. The lady working there said they were more expensive because they have better things than others...uh no, honey. Take off that faded Walmart shirt, brush your hair, and then we can talk about your opinion on what's better and not. Avoid. read more

I tried to donate a ton of really great stuff to them when I moved out of Pleasant Hill but they refused it! I honestly think the girls that were working the donation counter were just too lazy and didn't want to have to carry all the stuff into the store. They didn't speak English. So later that night when they closed we just left the stuff on the curb outside the door like tons of other people obviously did too! When you drive by you will see crap lined up on the sidewalk and curb from people who just drop it off. They probably experienced the same thing I did with those rude women. Just for kicks I went in here to see what kind of stuff they had....mostly men's things and there is no organization and the shelves are all covered in dust and filth. I am a faithful customer of Good Will, I being see a lot of workers come and go, but is one particular employee in pleasant Hill store, he make customers feel welcomed senses we put our foot in that store, always with a big smile on his face, all the time if I'm looking for something in particular if he doesn't know if the have it he always go to the back and ask other employees to help . I am a very frequent shopper here and the staff, almost all of them, are wonderful. One guy I wanted to call out is Mario. He always has a smile on his face and makes the customers laugh! Just recently, I left a valuable item at the register and Mario ran out to my car to get it back to me. It made my day to see such honesty and customer service. read more

1. As others have pointed out, Goodwill and Salvation Army are multimillion dollar companies both give way too much of their proceeds to their executives and not the charities they claim to support. We're talking 500K a year. 2. This place isn't that cheap, it isn't clean, the staff are generally friendly but some are earnestly incompetent. If you read up, Goodwill actually employs special needs people and pays them beneath minimum wage because the support those people receive from the government allows GW to pay them less. Wow, awesome, right? 3. There are tons of small, independent thrift shops around this area, GOOD ones, too! There's another independant Thrift store within one block of the Sally's/Goodwill's you're looking at now. There's the Youth Homes Auxiliary and the awesome Garrett Thrift Shop, very nearby, both small, independent, charity shops with better prices and inventory, where more of your money goes to a good cause. read more

I've been here quite a few times and bought quite a few CDs and a few other odds and ends, but overall, the selection of anything other than clothes is lacking. The store is small-medium. The clothes appear to be organized by type but not by size which is annoying. Basically everything is overpriced for the quality. $6 for a shirt isn't that much, but if it's clearly been worn and needs to be washed, it's just overpriced, especially when there are 2 other thrift store within a block of here. Whoever accepts the donations is very rude and needs to be trained on what to accept! I donated some rustic decor from pier one (still had tags on them) and he replies "we can't take it like this!" So rude and he has done this before! I will be taking my items elsewhere from now on! read more

Store was recently remodeled to address the lack of aisles. A much easier shop-----YAY!

As long as I can I would NEVER ever donate to Goodwill stores. This drop of location considers accepting donations as a favor to citizens. I went to the store to drop off bunch of clothes and shoes and had the worst and rude encounter with the young men who was "Employed" to accept donations. Please do not accept any respect for your donations as the bag is grabbed from you and thrown in a pile like garbage. When I asked for receipt this guy dropped it on the floor and would not pick it up. Due to bad back I could not bend so I asked for another one and I was told to pick the one on the floor first then I will get the clean receipt. Then the manager sort of person walked with an attitude that DONORS were an inconvenience that they have to deal with. No apologies at all from either of the employee or manager. read more

New manager sends everything to ECOMMERCE leaving nothing as far as brand name clothes,shoes,antique,etc,,destroying all the walking customers.They were all complaining when i was there,and now they are running an ad that says 'you will find treasure at goodwill'..All they do is wait for donations and all the really good stuff disappears and the rest ends up in eCommerce .To compensate for all the foot traffic loss they put outrages prices on kmart brands,jc penny brand etc plastic shoe with hole $29.99. men jcpenny shirt $19.99.plastic print picture $29.99 its like a total insult.of course when they get you they don't give money back just exchange for another garbage.I have complained to the regional manager and you can too. read more

I lived in the Contra Costa area for years and would always find hidden gems here, which made it consistently my favorite thrift store. I moved away 4 years ago and hadn't been back until a week ago. It didn't let me down, as I found an amazing 50's style liquor cabinet tucked away in the back under a wicker basket. This place never lets me down, and they always seem to have a good selection. read more

I don't come to this particular Goodwill store that much anymore, the prices here are astronomical. I live closer to the one on Clayton rd and that one is much better with much better prices and customer service with a smile. I was just in Salvation Army the other day (Which is right next door) and thought I would drop in to see what they had... I was out of there in minutes. I found a pair of beat up Jessica Simpson heels for 39.99! That is insane! I wasn't shopping consignment, I was at Goodwill for crying out loud. Total waste of my time. Needless to say I won't be back, oh and the staff could smile more often. I swear the mood in there just stinks. read more

Was in there earlier today and they only had one cashier/checkout line that was open...and they were very into telling each person their life story....All I wanted to buy was a mug...they didn't open a second check stand until 30 minutes passed... Slow employees, messy store. Would skip this one normally, but was going to the grocery nearby, so I decided to go in. Probably will skip it from now on. This would be 4 stars, but there is one employee that brings it down. I've gotten some good finds here, but they do tend to run a little more than at other thrift stores. Back to my main issue with this branch. There is a middle-aged Indian woman who works here that consistently overcharges me. I wrote it off as mere incompetence until my last visit in. I had one item I purchasing. It had at least three price tags on it with the same price, she picked it up, checked the price, looked me in the face and added a dollar to the price. I pointed out that she was overcharging me and she rectified the price, but this was no accident. If you go in here and there are multiple checkers, go with the other one, it will save you money, time, and aggravation. read more

Most items are priced as if new. And cashiers have changed prices on me at the regester. Best part is its next to Salvation Army.

Place was really very not clean at all. Very expensive, too. I don't think I would look here again. Original store price tags still on, are lower than Goodwill's new price tags. You can shop at Ross for less, for the same things. read more

The day after Black Friday and was looking for a discount at a thrift store. Salvation Army had a half off sale on loser dated merchandise but selection was not what I was searching for. I came to Goodwill looking for 1970s clothes for theme company party. They have some good selections but seriously overpriced for used tattered well worn out clothing. read more

The store has been updated but items are too high priced. If your looking for children clothes go to GROWING PAINS on Treat Blvd. Or across the street to the Salvation Army. They do have some cool stuff but it really is hit or miss here. I did find a brand new snow cone machine for $5, score! They do have a lot of stained or ripped items. Dropping off items is made easy by it being on the side of the store so all you do is park and unload. read more

It smelled like something died over by the children's clothing. Even though I saw new or nearly-new clothing, I couldn't bear to stay any longer with the thought that the g-funk smell was on the clothes as well. There were suitcases piled near the kids' clothes, maybe something was dead in it. You could smell it from a 10-foot radius. Gross. Disorganized store. read more
