I shop thrift stores A LOT. This one is one of the worst. One of the women employees was standing in the aisle with 2 other women blocking the way, so I said excuse me, she moves a few inches, so I brushed her as I went by. She follows me and bumped into several times. Told her that was unnecessary, she mocked me!! She obviously didn't care my arms were full. If I had had the time, I would've taken it up with the manager - that was totally out of line for her to do. Every time they go through back door, they SLAM it. Store is jammed and unorganized, Manager is too slow to be working register. OH, and when prices are posted, that does not mean they can charge more when they want to. People who give this place 5 stars must not shop thrift stores much..... or are friends, relatives, or get paid to say it's great - it's not even close. read more

Wow! Who hires these employees?! We walked in at 7:45 and as we came in Mario yells that the store is almost closed and he should have locked the door. I ask him what time it closed and he states 8 pm but that I won't have time to shop because corporate states that customers have to be out of the store by 8 so they need to be rung up by 7:45. He's literally yelling at me and my daughter who is a minor. Wtf?! He then starts yelling that the store is closed (it's now 7:50) He then Then he starts ringing another customer up and starts talking crap about me to the customer in front of me and my daughter. At this point I ask the other employee what his name is and she gives it to me and he has the nerve to interrupt our conversation and start arguing with me when I'm not even talking to him. I am mind blown at this point that this is actually taking place! Another customer starts checking out with him and AGAIN he starts talking crap about me to them!!!! Lilita tells him to stop and tells him to cool down and he blows her off. Lilita gives me Samantha's (store manager) number and I call while I'm still in the store. She states that he shouldn't be yelling at anyone that the store is closed or that it's closing at 7:45 (obviously) and that is not company policy as Mario stated. I tried calling the corporate number that was listed on the website but there's no option to leave a message. I will try again tomorrow during business hours. Since Lilita the assistant manager witnessed his unacceptable and unprofessional behavior I expect her to tell management about it. It's crazy that such an unstable person is working here. He yelled at lilita stating he's not working overtime. It was still 7:55 lol. This dude is nuts! read more

The items here are lackluster... And the cashier just tried to charge me $6.99 per T-shirt. Claiming that a t-shirt is blank like an undershirt. Doesn't make any sense. Luckily the manager was reasonable and charged me $2.99 instead of what this idiot wanted to charge me. I grabbed them from the $2.99 section so I don't know what this dudes problem is but I think maybe some additional training is needed. There's a Salvation Army right across the street from this goodwill. The selection is better over there and they don't get donated Target items and charge more than double what you would pay new. Items here come in free of charge to help out the poor Community that can't afford to pay regular prices. Goodwill should be the essence of robinhood... Like Robin hood stealing from the rich and giving it to the poor. In this case its the community giving freely and a business, making profits off of those free things. I wish goodwill stores would listen to their hearts and not worry about this greedy corporations profits. There are people in each store in charge of pricing items in the back. They have the freedom to price them up or down. I've seen OVERFLOWING stockroom & I've shopped the overflowing shelves in the store. The fact that both areas are four should say something about this location. Tons of stuff on the shelfs I mean that's not moving for a reason. Maybe if the price is lowered the items would move faster, that would be a good idea "goodwill". Right now this place looks more like Greedwill. The landfill is growing and if this store would lower prices their product would move faster. That's just common sense. This place makes no sense. Another issue I have with the stores location is the bright green tags. They claim to have an all green tag half off at the register sale. But when you finally get to the register with a bright green tag you infact DONT get half off your "bright green" taged items. This is NOT OK. I Had hopes of saving 1/2 off and had Factored that into my total purchase price while walking through the store only to have my dream shattered as I arrived at the register, being told I have the wrong type of green tag. What kind of BS is that!? Totally unfair and uncool. I disagree goodwill. This is NOT GOODwill this is "GREEDwill". My advice to you is don't shop here, take your money across the street or down the street to the smaller thrift shop. The bright side to this shopping trip is : Daisy! Daisy is cool and helped me out after hours of me complaining and ranting about the unbelievabley high prices here. So thank u Daisy. U made this shopping disaster an okay experience. The only nice thing I saw was super nice dinner plates I knew it had to be expensive when I turned it over it was from Z.Gallerie! WOW! It's usually $90 for four plates but at Goodwill they were selling it for $1.99 each plate! Looked super new too! read more

So why am I writing a review for Goodwill? It is because this is my favorite place to spend my hard-earned money. Just For your information, I buy educational books, furniture, board games, accessories such as belts, and new-yes new children's items. This is my favorite location because the book selection is very good. Also, they have a new section for board games and I have purchased brand new ones at this location. Finally, the store is organized, and the staff is friendly. They do have brand new items from Target such as LEGO kits, clothes, shoes, books, and bags. One warning is that I recommend going early on a weekday if possible. Weekends are crowded and the good stuff can be gone if you're late. read more

My family and I have been to this location so many times for a reason! The employees are awesome. They are the most stocked store in Contra Costa County and you will constantly, during all times of the day hear, "FRESH CART!" which means they are always putting new stuff out! I mostly come here for clothes and I don't think I've left here without finding some treasures! Parking is never a problem. I actually live closer to 2 other Goodwill stores but I drive farther just to shop at this Pleasant Hill location because I love this store the most! I feel like with thrift stores there either hit or miss and there is no in between. The thrift stores around my area aren't that great so my sister and I decided to head out to a different city to see if the thrift stores were any better out there. The parking situation on this one is good because it is a shared parking lot so there is always a spot to park at. The actual store itself is on the smaller side but it was organized as best as it could but it was slightly overwhelmed with things everywhere that it was hard to find anything. It wasn't crowded when we went to I really felt that I could take my time and really look at things. I didn't have much luck besides a Juicy Couture dress that I found and a glass holder - which I have seen better purchase days. Don't be dissuaded to shop here just because they sell a lot of over-priced items that you'll discover don't work when you get home. It's not their fault that they have a very strict 'no-return' policy. ...well, I guess that is their fault, but nonetheless... They have plenty of overpriced items that do work! For instance, they sell overprices shirts with random company logos on them. Those shirts work just fine, especially if you work for the random company listed on the shirt! I almost bought a $600 Samsung TV there before discovering that the screen was severely damaged. On visual inspection you couldn't see any damage to the screen and I couldn't plug it in because they had conveniently lost the power cable. I was lucky that one of the stock guys found a compatible cable and we managed to plug it in and discover that this would have been a $600 non-refundable bust! I'm not sure how they're coming up the prices... I imagine they search expensive.com and compare prices with new items. There was a time when this place was worthwhile. I don't come here to shop, although I have looked around once or twice in the past 3 years. I come here to donate items. Every chance I get to clean up and find items I don't use anymore or don't wear anymore that are still not ready for the trash or damaged or broken, I bring them here. The donation door is around the side of the store toward the back, and is open almost every day. There are a couple of parking spaces at the curb, and a counter inside that is always staffed by someone to take you donations. There is always a dated receipt available for you if you need that for tax purposes. I have dropped off small donations 5 times this year. If it is too crowded with people (like at the end of year coming up) making donations, you also have the Salvation Army donation center just across the street. If you are cleaning up for the new year and have items in decent condition to give away, bring them here and get a tax deduction at fair market value. read more

Donate your clothes and other items to a good cause, or come in to shop knowing your money will go to benefit others, and you get to go home with a shiny 'new' whatever! Deals abound here, and if you are a devout treasure hunter, and are accustomed to scouring aisles and racks for goodies a la Ross or Marshall's, then you are up for the quest that a trip to Goodwill provides. If you have the time, I guarantee their goods will surprise and reward you. Just between you and me, I have bought quite a few items from my wardrobe at the Goodwill, and have receive compliments on them all, from people just snobby enough to keep my spot of acquisition a secret from. It's ok - all good women have great secrets. :) Donation here was also a breeze. I recently made my first trip here to drop off only, not to shop. 8 or so bags filled with clothes of various degrees of love and wear, that needed new homes. No paperwork, no hassle - just drop off the bags to their donation center behind the store, receive a receipt from their friendly pleasant employees for your tax return if so desired, and be on your way. The Goodwill is a win-win, and patience, generosity, money and time spent here are their own reward. Come join the treasure hunt! read more

You'll need a staff member to unlock the (one) fitting room. Sometimes staff can be hard to locate, but I think just bc they're off organizing and keeping the place clean. It's also right across the street from a St. Vincent's so if you're scouring out used clothes, etc., kill two birds on this block. read more

The dressing room is out of order and one of the biggest sale days of the year. The excuse from the manager and assistant manager is that the floor is sticky supposedly.We came at opening 9 AM and we're leaving at 11 AM and still no solution. For Halloween I went as Tippi Hedren from The Birds so I needed to find the appropriate dress. I needed a 60's dress with jacket and thought that the Goodwill store would be the place that might have it. The store is rather large and pretty well organized by gender then by type of clothing. We were able to find a great outfit for my costume along with a purse so it was a win for me! The only bad thing about this store was that they only had one dressing room. I ended up just trying the dress on above my clothes which I would have rather not done. read more

I have to say that I was very happy with the "donation" experience at this thrift store. My first time too ! Both fellow's in donations were very pleasant and helped with my donations. On a rainy day I appreciated that a lot ! They were nice enough to tell me about a sale and I shopped there for the first time ! I bought a very nice roasting pan and holiday utensils. MY GAWD THIS PLACE IS EXPENSIVE! Out of all the Goodwills, this is the most expensive in the pleasant hill area. Although the prices are high, I will say the stock is good. I bought nearly new Levis for $11.99 (which is more than I've ever paid). The store is on the smaller side and feels cramp to me. I've never looked at the furniture or houseware so no comment on that, but overall I come here during the 50% because I cant afford to shop on a regular day. read more

OMG! They have GOT TO FIX the AIR CONDITIONING in there! It is like shopping in an oven! How do you expect the staff to tolerate having the heat stuck ON all the time in this store? Totally impressed with this Goodwill because as soon as I walk in the door I get a greeting from one or more of the employees! Even throughout my shopping spree everything is color coded and neatly organized. I really new by the end when I was checking out that the service was genuine since the friendliness and laughter among the staff continued as they smiled me out the front door. I think over the last few years the Goodwill chain has really taking the extra effort to brand themselves accordingly. I've noticed this in other stores as well but this Goodwill took the cake. read more

This Goodwill is mostly clothes from the 90's. Seems pretty disorganized, nothing is sorted by size and often not by color. Housewares in the back are awful, pretty much dishes. A few pieces of furniture, an NSync beanie baby, a bin of randomness to sort through but no good finds (no offense if that NSync beanie baby jazzed you). Similar to my feelings of the Salvation Army across the street; if you're more economically blessed, a weekend thrifter, or are just looking for an awesome gem, this is a complete waste of time. read more

Went on Sunday around 3pm. Pretty packed with people and the racks are crammed in this little place. A bit ghetto for me. No additional off sales. Tix prices were a little on the higher side. This place, in my opinion, has an odd arrangement. There's just something about it that doesn't work with me. It also is a bit crowded. When i walk along the kitchen aisles I get worried i'm gonna knock something over. You can often find things that are still unopened. Like the amazing Apples to Apples Party Box, I got for less than $10. read more

Best 2nd hand store to find decent used toys, or 12 bread machines. Great staff. If you want to consider yourself green (I not; I'm a conservationist) I would think you have an obligation to shop for items that would not encourage production of more items. All productions and transport of goods creates pollution and use of energy. Thus should be considered an inferior green selection to purchasing already produced items looking for new homes; which sounds like a good idea to me too. read more

For clarity, I've only been inside this location a handful of times, spanning over a couple of years. I, by no means, am a regular "thrift-er", but sometimes will go to places like Goodwill to find an item for a specific purpose (themed party). Goodwill does not compare to somewhere like Plato's Closet or Buffalo Exchange, but I don't believe Goodwill attempts to do so. The closest "competitor" in my opinion is Salvation Army, and this Goodwill is MUCH better in terms of quality, selection, and cleanliness. I come here much more often to drop off donations than to shop, and this is where my 3 stars (rather than 4) come in. They do not accept large items here. Now, there seems to be a grey area between what is 'large' and what is not. They've turned down both a wall clock and a storage ottoman from me (not large pieces of furniture). I ended up donating the clock to the Breast Cancer foundation instead, and am now figuring out what to do with the ottoman. I understand they may not have the capacity to take it, but I believe they should have a separate location that is able to take in these items, as I can see them really benefitting someone else. I'll be seeing if Salvation Army can take it instead. read more

I love good deals. I stop by places like this to find some amazing deals. I found a Dino brand new in the box unopened. Scored for $35 looked up the orginal price when I got home. $129. WOW. My son is going to love it. I also saw something I want really bad but I cant spent that much. A garden statue of a boy holding a lantern that is solar powered. $99 a Title high for a goodwill. I also found a privacy screen for $30 that retails for $150 at cost plus. It is a hit or miss sometimes though. read more
