First time coming here, when I first walked in I was completely Amazed by how big the store was. This is probably one of the biggest locations in Chicagoland area. They had a great selection of clothes as well. Staff here was very friendly and we saw a few items that were unbelievably cheap but the people that know how to Thrift is part of the eye to right away and took it the moment it was placed. There are plenty of dressing rooms and a restroom as well . Check out lines can be very long. There's plenty of parking lot as well since it's in a popular strip mall. read more

This used to be my favorite Goodwill. They had nice quality items at a reasonable price. The last few times here I have found nothing. Most of the stuff looks like something that got thrown away at the end of a garage sale. Some of the prices are way too high, I can find the same items on sale for almost the same price. The biggest plus to this goodwill is how clean it was. However, I was in complete sticker shock over the prices. I left with two items (boots and a cubs tshirt) and paid $20. They had Christmas apparel out and most of the sweaters were around $20. I get the ugly Xmas sweater is a dying trend but I can buy a new one at Target for $20 rather than spending $10 for one with deodorant stains on it. The store is organized and has good options, however there is an older white woman working here who is extremely rude. I've worked in fast food, retail, etc. and have dealt with all kinds of people but she was being rude for absolutely no reason. A customer asked the worker for a changing room and then asked if the worker needed help picking something up that she had dropped and worker said "No. Leave me alone don't touch me!" in an extremely rude tone. Anyone who asked for a changing room she would sigh loudly at. I don't like to make things about race but she was being extremely nice to any white people, thanking them several times, but rude to anyone else. I was nervous to even ask for a changing room. This goodwill has enough of everything. Their women's section doesn't take up all of the space like i've seen happen at other goodwills. They do not have as many men's shoes as other goodwills. Their electronics section is neat and I ended up picking up a Pentax SLR camera for $7! I don't come here often, but when I do I am always delighted. So sad! This used to be a great Goodwill store-clean, well lit, organized, lots of items. I haven't been in since Christmas and they ruined the store! Very dark and dingy, like half of the ceiling lighting was removed! All clothing moved to front of store, all housewares now jammed in the back of the store in half the space it used to be. It's too bad that Goodwill typically exists in the Chicago suburbs (except the one on W. Washington in Near West Side). As a city dweller, it's difficult to get to a location unless I happen to carpool on hubby's work vehicle. This one is located at the same shopping plaza with a newly remodeled Whole Foods on Kingery Hwy. I was impressed by how neatly the items were merchandised, especially the kitchenware/silverware department. Generally, apparel at a Goodwill is worth to take a look. They were many higher-end to luxury brands blouses, wraps, and outerwear for under $10. Items were in pristine conditions as well. Hubby found a pack of floppy discs for $0.50. The last I used one of them was for my term papers in high school back in the 2000's. It's always a pleasure to shop at a Goodwill, and restrooms are available for customers. read more

Staff is extremely rude! I was shopping in a row by myself a worker comes up close to me (not 6ft) violates their own rules and tells me not to let my mask slip. I then go to pay and another employee says pull your mask up and hers was also slipping my mask slipped down as I was putting in my card and signing. They are truly bully's and fascists. I visit all the Goodwills regularly. This one has the best book selection on the area. No I don't know why either - I always find a least 5-10 + books I go home with every time. They have a little table near the books that you can sit and browse. This one a oddity - higher prices than other locations and poor selection of furniture. Actaully saw a metal cage without a bottom labelled "Black Snake Moan" last week. Well, actually no, it was labelled "wire thing", which is just as wierd. If you hurry, I bet it is still there and you too can be befuddled. You can then take it home and call it George. Was in there 15 minutes before they closed. While shopping an older gentleman that worked there came up very aggressively and yelled to an older lady and myself that we HAVE to go up front NOW. Welcomed addition to this strip mall!! This specific location has been an albatross for many years (Elek-Tek, vacant for years, then Murray's for a year or so). I'm glad the Willowbrook Planning/City Commission finally let them in here, maybe not quite the kind of place they really desired, but I think it will do well in the long run. Great selection, seemed to me that staff is real freindly and customer oriented. You can drop your stuff off on the front, west side of the store. They usually will help you unload your items. I love this place, got some good stuff. Goodwill will be opening a new location in Bolingbrook in the coming weeks so be on the lookout! read more

I really like thrifting at this Goodwill because I can usually find high end things (Joe jeans for $4 and Melissa & Doug toys, puzzles and games are never more than $3) at VERY affordable prices. Today, I got a pair of pants for me ($4), a wooden game of bean bag toss with cute animals ($2), some Melissa & Doug crayons ($0.50) and some other things. All told, I spent about $12. The best I can do with this store is just ok. On the plus side it is large and exceptionally clean and well-organized. However, of the various, random times I have been in there, I have seen nothing that I am actually interested in buying. That's in stark contrast to the other GW stores in the Chicago area I have been in and usually found some major item or some small trinket or doo-dad that was worth taking home. Downers Grove and Westchester also in the area are about the same for me as well. Pricing does vary widely and irrationally, but I have found that true at all their stores. Depends who's on duty that day. Another poster observed that this store is near some of the wealthiest suburbs in the area, so expects the pickings to reflect that. I have always wondered about how their logistics work; if donations are all shelved locally or if they are shipped off to a central location where they are cherry-picked and redistributed. For example, I have previously gone through the vinyl LP's at all locations and have found nothing but dregs. There's always an abundance of Mitch Miller and Lawrence Welk with covers that are falling apart. I am almost certain they cherry-pick the LP's and sell the decent ones on eBay. Probably other stuff as well. But just for the record, that poster's claim that "these six suburbs where the median wages earned/salary of its residents starts at $395,000" is, of course, not even close to reality. read more

After refusing to spend $39 at Urban Outfitters for a casual top, I satisfied my shopping craving by stopping in at Goodwill in hopes of finding some cute, casual, summer staples. There was a lot of room to browse the clothing racks. The items weren't crammed together, and the aisles were wide enough for people to browse and move through with shopping carts. The racks were a little disorganized: it appears that someone doesn't know that XS means "extra small," as I found several of these mixed in the "extra large" section. I found two casual tops for $2.99/each, one a purple and white striped Tommy Hilfiger tee (no bold logos, luckily), and a black top from New York & Company with lace detail on the collar. I wouldn't say that the designer or name brands are any more prevalent here than other Goodwill shops, but there's some good stuff to be found, and noticeably less Wal-Mart and off-brand junk. I almost bought some mini baking cups thinking I could make crème brulee, but then I thought, "really? Even though these are 49 cents, I'm not going to get around to making crème brulee." The clientele is some of the classiest I've seen at any Goodwill. I saw a few women shopping who were dressed REALLY well - so well, they almost seemed out of place. Even the few teenage girls sharing a room, snapping pictures of each other, were dressed impeccably (aside from the one in the tight green pants, I could see her thong panty line). This is a busy, busy, store. I didn't wait too long for a dressing room, but no one was really managing the area as I had to stalk down an employee to unlock a room. Pros: this location is clean and huge. Cons: the furniture is grossly overpriced. A chaise lounge that originally retails for 300? You can find it here for 250 with stains or worn-out cushions. Crappy particleboard late 70s furniture? They mark it really high here and call it midcentury modern. Think $75 or $80 for a gross dresser in poor condition (think chipping veneer, broken leg, missing hardware). A plain mirror that is really cheap with a plastic frame painted gold? $70. The store used to be awesome and good deals were readily available. Try the other Goodwills nearby. They're all head and shoulders above this one. The short, brunette manager has a LOT to do with the downhill slide. read more

I make it a habit to frequent quite a few Goodwills, and this one is by far the worst of them all. It's fine that it's on the smaller side (so is the one in Elmhurst) but the prices at this location make me question if the employees that ticket the items do, in fact, know that the majority of things are, in fact, USED. I'm kinda thinking they don't. Since good deals are sort of the whole point of my shopping at Goodwill, this location was terribly disappointing. read more

I have definitely found some things here that I plan on renovating. Some things though, I have really liked but I was kinda surprised at the prices. Like some reviewers have said, sometimes they might forget that the items are USED and most of the time, pretty old. Clothes? Ok, so I am obsessed with GW. Recent score: Via Spiga "riding" boots in gorgeous leather with zipper up the back and a buckle. I was looking for wellies. Spotted these high on the shelf. Pulled them down and Voila! My size, very down at heel but fit like a glove and otherwise in nearly perfect shape. $20 spent at my cobbler for re-heeling, and then a little google research - I found them listed on Neiman Marcus Last Call for $395. I shelled out $4.99 plus the heel fix. Another: Banana Republic Navy blue 100% fine-guage Merino wool v-neck in size Medium $70 retail. Perfect. I paid $4.99. Great find #3 was a men's Land's End cotton blend cable knit crew neck in grey for $4.99. Similar sweaters on their site sell for about $50. I also picked up a few great household, holiday and gift items recently. read more

BUYER BEWARE! This is a horrible Goodwill. Dirty, no carts, people shopping like heathens! Not to mention stay away from their vacuums. You cannot return and they do not provide a carpet strip to test. Also, they need to stop with the "rounding up to the next dollar." Smart way to earn extra money but considering all their items are donations and I donate myself asking me everytime to "add up" is gaining them millions of dollars every year. This should be a once of year "limited time Add up to the next dollar." I will start giving my donations, money and service to other more needy organizations. read more

I had never been to a Goodwill store but had heard great things so I was excited to learn there was one in Willowbrook. We have a bunch of weddings coming up so I needed to add a few dresses to my wardrobe, but did not want to spend a lot. I went a few weekends ago and got two dresses for a total of $15! How do you beat that? There were a lot more but not what I was looking for. We also got a few other things for the house while we were there. The Willowbrook location is by far the worst Goodwill. Due to horrible customer service there are so many people who refuse to shop there. This is a direct reason this store suffers in sales. The top management at Willowbrook, Erin and Sherri, are the worst in customer service. Their own employees, many of which, laugh about them and even state their issue to customers. Many people describe this goodwill as unfriendly and would say it's a mistake to shop there. Don't waste your time going, it is definitely not worth it and you are certainly expected to feel out of place. Not even worth a star, but had no choice. See for yourself. read more

This is another well organized goodwill. I haven't found much women's clothing I'd wear, but I did find a couple of oversized men's sweaters. One was cashmere and I scored it for a mere $4. this GW presents a lot of challenges and i would say it is the least enjoyable store in the area. Perhaps Willowbrook suffers these issues from the top down as the manager is rude/mean to the staff and the customers. I know someone who worked there and i have spoken to three older employees and got the same story about the situation. So i will not check out when "she" is ringin up. Its not worth the risk of her blowing up on me again or laughing in my face like she has done two times. A few hard workers, yes, but wow - a lot of turnover. staff = overworked , stressed , and the younger ones seem to enjoy locking horns with customers. I have been asked by several employees rudely in a mean tone to move, when i am up against the rack almost flat ? then the - " SIR is this YOUR cart? " (i never use a cart ) , i always have a basket in my hand ? space is a premium as the floorspace and aisles are reserved for overstock . the shabby items are overpriced but incomplete. If you visit there, be sure you are not there in the final hour as they are on the pa system letting you know what time it is every few moments for the last 45 minutes (they seem to do this early) . Then they send out employees to march around and stink eye you- insisting you get in line or leave when its 15 minutes till closing. I have never been there even five minutes before closing time but i get in trouble every time I visit as I am unable to visit them until after 6-6:30 pm . typically i am out of their hair ten minutes till closing , my wife will be in line with our take, but if staff catches you they will give you and earful. Get ready for a long line when checking out, they will bark at you about leaving the credit card in ( i have to hit red x for credit but if they see you move your hand you get scolded) . Now i am an adult , i do alot of resaling and other stores are not as petty and triflin...top down... i simply dont have time to dig thru the oceans of broken promotional items to find something in one piece in the time allotted while being hassled and verbally accosted by frustrated staff . The stench coming from the restrooms is unacceptable , perhaps this is a plumbing issue that has never been repaired but there is also some big stink from the top down, it does roll down hill , really sad as this store used to be a pleasure but its gotten really tough to shop there and keep my cool. Believe me you dont wish to be a customer here . if you do go - go early , plug yer nose in the first 3 aisles and hope you dont run into the fiery mngr lady. read more

one of the worst goodwill store i have visited, i have visited a lot . Clothes are very pricey and in bad shape, they do have an over abundance of promotional items, crap , junk and garbage. Most of it is broken filthy and priced rediculously high with out any power supply or accessorys as they choose to sell everything seperately, i know as i have donated and seen what they do ripping the box apart , seperating every piece with its own price tag? The staff is angry and they will yell at you at the drop of a hat. If you DO decide to speak to the mngr she is the rudest person i ever spoke to in retail . She is the only Goodwill mngr i know by name and this is because she has a reputation for being nothing but mean, rude and angry. The electronics section has spilled out into the floor and aisles, and the bins are full of stuff no one would ever want to buy , unless of course you need broken christmas decorations , plastic cups from gas stations dating back to the early 2010's , or maybe a vacuum that some one used to suck up a gallon of milk and then donated it . ... in august. I frequent these resale shops at the cheap since I enjoy finding some good deals. I regular a few around here. I was not impressed in the least with this locaation. The staff was just ok, not a welcoming vibe. The store was in disarray and the items were not displayed well. Over all the cleanliness was clearly lacking. The Goodwill in Westchester IL. is the only one around that has no chairs anywhere near the books, nor anywhere else in the store. I am elderly, and need a chair to sit and look at the books. I'm sure many others are the same. I will not return to this Good Will for this reason. The other near Good Wills in Downers Grove and Willowbrook do have chairs. Shame on you, Westchester Good Will, for making it so unnecessarily hard on your elderly shoppers. read more
