Went here the other day to check this place out, and we were impressed. While it looks smallish from the outside, it is pretty big inside with different rooms and some space taking up the storefront next door. Lots of merch here, so come prepared to wander around for awhile. We thought the selection was excellent, with many choices. Prices were very reasonable, and the staff was very helpful. This is a well organized thrift shop, and the place and merch were clean. As one might expect, we didn't leave empty handed. We will be back. read more

I grew up with exactly two skirts to wear throughout high school. There was no money for clothes. Hand me downs from my aunt supplemented what I was given. Along before it became acceptable I started going to thrift stores. They were dirty, disorganized as were the clothes dirty, torn, smelly from smoke or mold. I was ashamed at the time, always afraid someone would see me. Over the years I have continued to go as consignment has become acceptable and now almost trendy. I found this place quite by accident a few weeks ago and was astounded at how well organized the operation is and how welcoming the staff are. Until I stumbled upon this place my go-to was Goodwill. As I learned more about that organization I became increasingly uncomfortable going there, so this place was a gift. Indeed I have begun donating to this place because there mission is fulfilled in front of my eyes: many younger people are learning skills and gaining experience. Now that I was forced to retire due to an injury, I need to supplement my social security. Since the prices are reasonable I may find some things to sell online. This Bridge unknowingly helps young and old alike. Thank you for being such a great resource. read more

Within my lifetime, people understood what it was like to be poor. They understood saving for things and making sure these things lasted. I'm not talking about the Money magazine people who whine they can't make it on $150,000 a year. I'm talking about hard working, hard drinking Poles and Italians of my childhood. The kind that saved string, coffee cans,and bacon fat. I have noticed the yelpers in Chicago tend to be younger.... you DO realize people save bacon grease? These people saved for a long time for things..... particularly FURNITURE. For those of you on a certain ago, think back... thank back to a hot summer day, the day your parents drag you to your Auntie Anna and Uncle Forian's house. You sit on the couch ... and your ass is on fire...... Yes, the plastic covering preserving the furniture has stuck to your legs.....As you peel your skin off the 130 F plastic, you curse the depression era mentality of your crazy relatives. SO, despite the odd name, I stop in this store... and it was LOVELY. Bibles for &*^#^%%& as far as I am concerned, what a delightful store!!!!! Its clean, non smelly, HUGE and super well originized.. And best of all - prefect vintage plastic covered couchs! THese things never survive the leaking plastizers, sun damage, spilled "pussycat"drink mix, old poeple stank.. NICE! The glass seletcion is heavy on classic cordial glasses and 1960/1950s punch sets and etehed wine glasses. This isn't the place for beer glasses, and goofy vintage 1950s glasses. Classic church lady all the way here. Vareid selection of furniture - but it was great that there was much furinture- dining tables, side tables, counchs, lamps. Art along every wall of the place. lots of empty picture frames -4 x 6, and 3 x 5., selction of greeting cards, lots of clothes ( didnt look at these), and a nice christmas selction of decor items [ most of the back of the store was Christmas. I assume the holiday changes with the seasons? exercise equipment selection,huge kitchen area and lots of toys. And best of all, full of colorful neighborhood characters- old ladies in head scarves clogs and white socks and friendly kind smily ladies. I recommend a visit! read more

The BEST thrift store in all the Midwest! I grew up in Orland Park, but moved to California for my work. I make a trip to the Bridge Thrift every time I return home to visit. Such a clean and organized store. The prices are extremely reasonable and there is such a unique selection of items to explore. I love the vintage section a lot. This is one of my favorite thrift stores! The staff is extremely kind and helpful. The store is a bit small to the selection is smaller but i always leave with a bag of stuff! The BEST prices in the area. Not sure what's going on with Goodwill's, but they're just unreasonable. I got books for 50 cents and earrings for $1! There's not as much selection for clothing, but this is definitely the place to go for reasonable priced home goods. read more

This was a really good thrift store. I don't ordinarily find such an interesting array of items. This is a place definitely worth looking into...but here's the thing, you do have to dig a little. On the surface, I can't say that I find this thrift store particularly interesting, but isn't that the point and the fun of it all? I haven't decided however, if the price point is comparative with other thrift stores. I love some of the items I found, however, other items seemed to be priced inordinately high. I am extremely disappointed in the customer service from one of your employee Laura. i love this store, but this woman was rude to the customers by telling them to hurry up, never smiled, and was even mean to the staff. I have never experienced such a cold experience from this store. I don't know where this woman gets off on acting like this to people in such a turn off manner. She doesn't represent what the store and teen center have to offer. Maybe She had an off day, but to be rude to everyone isn't justified. I don't know if I can continue to shop here if this woman acts like this almost everytime I come into the store. This wasn't the first time I have witnessed this employee act in a rude manner. She needs to have an attitude adjustment to be in a representing the organization. read more

This is the most organized, clean thrift store I have been to. It looks more like a boutique. The prices are reasonable. The staff are kinda snobbish but who cares I'm getting bargains. Good deals. First time coming to this location the other day and I would have to say that it is very clean and well organized. The location itself is pretty convenient with a Dunkin Donuts in walking distance as well as a car wash I believe. The store is pretty snug size wise but the organization & cleanliness makes it feel bigger is size a bit. They have a pretty good section for home decor, books & movies. Shoes and clothes aren't as wide range but they have a pretty okay selection. Customer service is standard however, if you're looking to return a item they Will NOT give you cash back. Whatever item you've purchased will go towards a donation back to the store, which that's a NO for me and a finesse. Other than that, if you are looking to stop by for something specific is recommend going her occasionally. read more

This place is off the beaten path and you wouldn't know it was there unless you stumbled across it or were told about it. I like the fact that it is coupled with the bridge teen center. It is super clean on the inside and everything is very, very organized. Not like your typical Goodwill that is super messy and everything is thrown on the shelf. You never know what you will find at Bibles for Missions. I have been thrifting here for the past thirteen years. I bought classic furniture pieces to furnish my office space, I have found wonderful books for my children, and I have also secured good quality household items. To provide an example, one day I found the entire first collection of "American Girl Meet...... Books." For those people who are "Fashion Thrifters," this location is probably not for you. Bibles for Missions is more of a vintage kind of store, but as with any other thrift store, you never know what you may find on any given day! read more

Bridge thrift store is a very good place for teens to volunteer and get community hours for school and learn job skills for free. They also have the Teen Bridge Center where teens go every day to hang out and have fun. My nieces use to go however they was the only African American there no one tried to talk to them or be friendly so they no longer attend. I can only purchase what can fit into my suitcase; good thing, as this store is full of stuff that I don't need but would buy because the prices are so fair. They take time and effort to display their inventory in creative ways, and everything is clean. I like to shop the vintage section for old advertising, magazines or whatever else I can carry home. Nice lady named Cody caught me looking at the jewelry counter and asked to show me all the pretties that I cared to see. She impressed me not only for meeting the customer first, but also for the kind way in which she spoke to another volunteer whom she was training. The fact that it benefits the teen center next door is a good reason to shop here, as well. read more

Wonderful store! There is a lot of competition in the area, but this store beats them all! Best prices that can't be beat anywhere, the volunteers are fabulous, kind, and just plain wonderful! No frills but a great ever changing selection ...what more can you ask for? The cause is great and it is all volunteers, no paid employees here, so be kind and patient to the ladies and gents working here, they deserved a standing ovation! How does this place stay in business? Drove over there Saturday morning with a trunk load of donations (it was 9:30) and they were not open yet. They close most nights during the week before people even get off work. We brought everything over to Fish in Mokena. They represent a great cause but we have things to do on Saturday. This store is a hidden gem in Orland. Great staff and volunteers to help you find what you need. Great store that gives back to the children at the Bridge Teen Center for after school programs. They have everything you could possibly be looking for from Trendy finds, clothing for all sizes and ages, crafts, cards, houseware, pictures, frames, furniture, tools, toys, bath and medical, antiques, jewelry and shoes. I love this thrift store, and have shopped here on and off for many years. Always, neat, clean and organized. You won't find a lot of modern decor items, but if you need a vase or plates for give away cookies this is the place. Prices are much less than the other local thrift shops. As far as clothing all similar items have the same price. All jeans are $3 or 3.50 Regardless of brand, all tops, all sweaters are priced alike. Just snagged a brand new pair of DKNY jeans net for a song. And when I'm donating items this is my go to place, no overpaid CEO heading this organization, and proceeds go where they say they do. read more

I have NO idea where elite is shopping, but its not at this store....Plastic covered couches?? Sometimes, But i found an AWESOME almost brand new beige leather MODERN sofa here that is now in my family room....Oh, at about 700.00 LESS than what i would have paid in a regular furniture store..... Old ladies in head scarves and clogs?? I have been shopping here for years, and NEVER saw any employee here in a scarf and clogs....they dress casually in pants and blouses, so I don't know what that post was all about. The clothing is great.....I have found white house/black market tops here for 1.50 (sleeveless) and other designer items for 3 or 4.00...I have also found Armani, Victorias Secret, bebe, AND i found an authentic Gucci bag which I sold online for 200.00!! I sell alot online, so I make a pretty hefty profit while supporting a great store that does great work....I'm not saying you will find these things everyday, you wont' but you will find lots of nice things, modern and vintage...... Also, I don't know why there is an issue with the name, BIBLES FOR MISSIONS.....I can say it...The money they get goes to where they say it will go....Its a great store. read more

If I could give six stars, I would. This is what a thrift store is supposed to be! Spacious, clean, and well organized, with several seasonal displays. The employees are lovely and happy to be there. Though the store is smaller than the chain thrift stores, the vintage jewelry section is the largest I've seen in the Chicago area. And the prices are more than reasonable ($20 for a vintage leather Coach bag in pristine condition? Yes, please.) Definitely worth the drive! read more

My husband and I were visiting from out of state and discovered that we had left his sportcoat home. Found the Bridge and discovered more than a sportcoat. Prices were low and the teen staff were helpful. We picked up a sportcoat, Kate Spade purse, a large duffle roller bag, and two books for a total of $22. Two gentlemen came to my house and picked up a couch, chair, desk, and some other stuff. They were so kind. Other donation places never showed up when I scheduled a pick up but these guys did! BEST PRICES IN TOWN! Doesn't matter if it is a Designer Top or an Old Navy , still the same price of $3.00 and the BOGO [buy one get one free sale] is fantastic! Well organized and clean. No thrift store smell here! One other thing, the JEWELRY counter is stocked with GORGEOUS items, both newer and vintage, WOW! I couldn't believe the reasonable prices. I buy several piece each month. They are 1/2 block east of HARLEM so don't just drive by and miss this store! I forgot to mention that the people are so nice and all volunteers, not like Goodwill where they are nice because they are getting paid!
