My favorite lunch spot when I'm at work!! Without fail I always get the chicken tortilla soup and the kale salad. I devoured the chicken tortilla soup. It's the only reason the photo is not here. I have had many tortilla soup's and let me tell you this one has phenomenal flavor extremely authentic, nice and thick consistency and the chips and chicken breast that they put in It is delicious. My next rave review needs to be about this kale salad. The photo doesn't look that great because I was about to dig in and I had already chopped up all the avocado, but let me tell you the combination of ingredients that they use for this, the kale, the purple cabbage, the purple onion, the pumpkin seeds, green peppers, clementines, avocado slices, and they're yummy champagne vinaigrette dressing makes this one of my favorite salads of all time!!! Highly recommend this place if you're in the downtown area looking for a fresh and tasty lunch option!

This place is one of my favorite lunch spots! I have tried the shrimp po boy (pretty good) and the baja sandwhich. The baja sandwhich is delicious and my go to. I also enjoy their side options, the side of pasta is really tasty, or the side of chip and guac which may be a better bang for your buck. The guac it comes with is also very good and everything tastes very fresh. The service is pretty quick and the staff is welcoming. The place has a very casual vibe to it.

Goodwin's has their lunch routine down to a science. They offer anything from wraps, to sandwiches, to soup, or salad. In addition, they have multiple options within those categories which cater to those who are vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, or meat lovers. If you're stopping in around the 12 o'clock hour, expect a 10-15 minute wait. Not because the service is slow, just because Goodwin's is that popular (and convenient for those who work nearby). The line to order and pay looks intimidating, but they keep things flowing like a well oiled machine. They purposely keep the line backed away from the food counter so they can call people up individually when it's your turn to order. At first I thought this was slightly asinine, but once it was my turn to order I was more than pleased to be able to hear the employee behind the counter and make my selection without feeling rushed or cramped in a line. After you order they hand you a number and you then can make your way to the cashier. I'd say there was about a minute tops between me paying and receiving my food. Not bad at all. I'm trying to make better (healthier) choices these days, so I opted for a salad. Granted, I ordered the BBQ chopped chicken salad, which I ended up smothering in BBQ ranch, but that's neither here nor there. It was delicious and a refreshing lunch option for a hot day! The salad came with bbq chicken breast (of course), grilled corn, black beans, tomato, monterey jack cheese, jicama (which I didn't learn until later is a fabulous Mexican fruit), and cilantro with bbq ranch dressing on the side. Muy bueno! Very fresh ingredients and a satisfying combo to say the least. At $9.95 for a salad, I was actually satisfied with the portion size. Too big for me to finish! Besides the stellar food, Goodwin's also has their outdoor patio which is a solid selling point in my opinion. They have a shaded area on one side of the building and a sunnier spot around the corner for the sun goddesses out there. The seating inside is few and far between, but it seems like most people order their food to go or opt to sit outside anyway. Definitely a lunch spot I'll keep in mind when I'm working in the city! Pro tip: You can call your order in ahead of time to avoid the lines!

Great quick lunch option in the loop! Healthy and hearty- my favorite combo. However, expect to pay a hefty Chicago lunch price (above $10). Don't worry though, you'll get your money's worth in portions. If you get a sandwich, you get a free side. Salads though are just as yummy. I got the sea breeze salad. The dressing was delicious, the shrimp was flavorful, and the portion was awesome. An excellent filling lunch, and super easy and quick too.

The order area with some travel nostalgia and kitschy names for the food make this place unique.

We bopped in and little to our surprise, it was the best decision we made all day. I got the shawarma bowl with gryo and the garlic sauce fries and wow, everything was to die for. I wish I wasn't just visiting Chicago so this place was more accessible to me everyday. But I fear i'd go broke if this was in my city. This is a great quick lunch option especially if visiting the zoo/park/beach area. Everything felt light, fresh, and healthy. It felt a little pricey for me but it's Chicago so it may be normal so take that as you will but for how delicious and the amazing ingredients it's worth it. Especially that dang pink sauce on the fries....you've got to get the garlic sauce fries if you check this place out. Some of the most beautiful and tasty fries i've ever had! The atmosphere is cute and bright too. A happy place to eat lunch and hang out in! I'm not from Chicago so i'm already missing this place! Add to your "must try" list for sure!

Dresscode: Smart Casual / Casual Noise Level: Medium (it gets buzzy after 5:30pm) Thursday night Happy Hour was lively, so it took about 10-15 minutes for someone to come around, but service was attentive once we got going. The food is where Ēma really shines. From the Happy Hour menu, the Charred Eggplant Hummus and Crispy Potatoes were generously portioned and great for sharing. On the main menu, the Indian-Mediterranean fusion Bhel Hummus was a party for my taste buds, while the Hot Honey Halloumi and Chicken Kefta rounded out the table nicely. The halloumi is more of a side than a main, but that sweet-and-salty hot honey combo was chef's kiss. For our finisher, the Chocolate Torte knocked us out. Decadent, delicious and chocolate with lots of depth. Overall, Ēma is an excellent spot to order a bunch of dishes for the table and get an elevated meal without feeling stuffy, and delicious without taking itself too seriously. They played good music and wasn't too loud. You could easily carry on a conversation or , like me, continue listening to a podcast. By the time I finished, the place was completely full and a bit noisy, but not bad. I started out with a 10oz Birds of Prey Pilsner. It was very nice. Light and crisp and very easy to drink. I followed that up with Melodious Maibock and ordered the CBG burger with fries. I didn't have lunch so I dove right in and forgot to snap a photo. It was a very good smash burger. It was cooked well and I really liked the combination of pickled onion and caramelized onion. I didn't see it until later but you can add bacon. As much as I loved this burger, bacon would totally take it up a notch! I started chatting with the bartender about their different beers and decided to have the Super Melodious Jalapeño Maibock with the burger. It's soooo different, but in a good way. It paired so well with the burger. You get green bell pepper on the nose and a hint of it on the palate. When you swallow you get a little heat at the back of the throat. It was so good! Great bar.
