In my quest for a satisfying gluten free, dairy free lunch, I found this place. Not bad! Food/drinks: I got the sirloin and gruyère on gluten free bread, minus the gruyère. The gluten free bread is baguette style and isn't udi's or shar's - which is a nice way to mix up the usual offerings. Meat was freshly shaved. Caramelized onions made the sandwich. Seemed small but actually was pretty filling. Would have probably bumped up a half star if it could have been toasted. The salt and pepper chips were edible but preference for plain any day. Ambiance: I was there close to closing on a weekday afternoon. It was quiet and clean, and there were a few places to sit. Pillows and colors added a nice touch but it's not really a sit in restaurant. Oh, and it was fun to see all the cookie and chocolate goodies you could buy around the store. Service: Good. With several locations of Hannah's Bretzel now temporarily closed, including my go-to in the Illinois Center, I was psyched to come here for a Friday lunch. Sadly, this location, adjacent to the Grant Thornton building and a stone's throw from the Thompson Center, is not up to par. I suppose I should have done my due diligence, as I was looking for a spot to eat in (most Hannah's Bretzel locations have plentiful seating). Instead, the seating was limited to a couple of counters, one facing onto Randolph Street and the other puzzlingly facing a blank wall, along with a puzzling, cushioned situation that was elevated several feet above the floor. There was also a notable absence of lighting. Things didn't get any better when I got into line to order. There was a lot of confusion about what kind of bread I wanted for my Atlantic Smoked Salmon sandwich (wecken) on. Given this was a straight off the menu order, with no substitutions, I'm not certain why this was unclear. There was a woman ahead of me who was paying, and several patrons behind me. Fortunately, another sandwich maker came out of the back room to assist. I ended up taking my order to go, due to the lack of seating and all around frustrating experience. Sadly, I won't be back here and will try another one of the other 2 locations that is still standing. I hope this minor setback at this location is not indicative of the quality overall. Love coming in here. I show up after the lunch crowd so it's nice and chill, the staff is super welcoming, and there's a ton of seating. I always order the same tasty grass fed oven roast beef sandwich. The pretzel bread satisfies my naughty carb obsession, and the meat is perfect - not gristly or chewy like the not so good meat you'll find at other places. I also love that the sandwiches come with sides, and I always choose the delish chips. This is my weekly go-to, and it's hilarious that I'm saying that, since I'm downtown a day or two a week at most. Here's the thing: If you are a "professional sandwich maker" for a living and the order was to hold the mayo, substitute extra mustard then this is exactly what one expects for an $11 sandwich. I just need to travel a few stops on the Brown Line and I'm at Hannah's Bretzel. Their bread, and the fillings between the bread, changed my mind about sandwiches. My favorites are the Thanksgiving 365 and the Italian Bresaola. The Sirloin is great as well. But they are all interesting. And they make them so carefully. I'm always stopping at the wall of chocolate as well. So many new manufacturers and flavors. It's not cheap, but it's cheaper than driving 50,000 miles! read more

I stopped into Hannah's Bretzel on a whim while I was walking by, as I've never been before, and had a lack-luster lunch. The downfall of Hannah's is certainly not it's décor as the inside of the place is very inviting, warm, and friendly. There are a couple of tables and a cool little window nook (though I'm not sure if you can sit up there or not...). Not to mention that everyone is friendly and inviting. Where Hannah's falls short is not with the food either. I had sandwich (the club on a baguette) and a cauliflower soup. The sandwich was tasty but it was most certainly pretty small... if they could make it twice as wide with twice the ingredients than it might justify the price... Which brings me to Hannah's downfall: price. For a soup and sandwich I spent nearly $17. That's absurd given what I received. Everything was tasty but the size of the portion was nowhere near supportive of how much it cost. The baguette's length is great but it's girth... it's literally two inches wide. That's pathetic. And the toppings (meat) left much to be desired - barely did this sandwich have four slices of THIN turkey and the lettuce and other toppings were weak. Oh, and it cost like $10 itself. Then there was a small soup for $5.50. WHAT?! C'mon, Hannah! You're killing me. Needless to say, I want to return here but the price for the portion size leaves me with no choice but to never consider this spot for another meal in the future. Poor form, Hannah. Hello lover! In the decade or so I've been working downtown, my lunch heart belongs to Hannah's Bretzel. Years ago, I discovered this awesome sandwich shop and have been hooked since. How can you not love pretzel bread and well sourced meats and cheeses making the best sandwich ever!? My absolute go to sandwich is Sergio's Special. The melding of ham, cheese, mango chutney, and pickled jalapenos is perfection. Thanksgiving 365 is my turkey go to. Hannah's also lines their wall with all of the chocolate from small producers to bigger confectioneries. This new Hannah's Bretzel is probably the biggest one that I've seen in the Loop. There's plenty of seating and a neat counter approach too. Unlike the other Hannah's Bretzels I go to, this one appears to be more open air where you can see the fridges behind the counter. It has that new Hannah's Bretzel's look, shiny new appliances, menu behind the seating area, and streamlined counter. What can I say, I'm in love!?! Hannah's is my go to a delicious sandwich packed with fresh meats and cheeses. Oh yeah, their blondies and brownies are sinfully delicious too. read more

I've been enjoying Hannah's Bretzel since it was a single location at Washington/Wells when I lived across the street and am happy to see it achieve all the success it deserves, including opening this new location. Every visit has turned a good day into a great day with an always satisfying meal that is delicious and healthy. Consistently, my go-to order is a Sergio's Special with no chutney and the vegetable barley soup. There are enough seasonal items to make it interesting when I want to try something different and the breakfast line up is expanding nicely. (I'm enjoying a Works breakfast sandwich as I write). Hannah's is uncompromising for quality and sourcing healthy organic ingredients so there is a slight premium in pricing but it's well worth it. In addition to the great ingredients and nice space to enjoy the food, the staff is always friendly. Highly recommended!!!! read more

Overpriced and not enough variety on the menu (especially for vegetarians) but the space is very cute and somewhat European. And until today, I thought the customer service was really good. But I had to deal with a cashier who probably flunked out of kindergarten he was so dumb and unhelpful. All I wanted was some butter! He acted as if he never heard of such a thing and was incredibly rude and unknowledgeable. They should​ not put him in front of customers. Very happy this place exists in my building for long cold Chicago winters that ruin the prospects of having a nice lunch break outside. Thankfully, Hannah's saves the day. Not only is the place cute and cozy with a small town coffee shop vibe, but the sandwiches and chips are delicious. For $10 you can get a high quality sandwich on pretzel or multigrain bread with avocado, chicken, buffalo mozzarella, and pesto. I mean come on, what else would you want on a sandwich?! I love how the sandwich comes with a bag of their delicious pepper ridge cut potato chips that add the perfect crunch and flavor to my meal without making me feel bad for splurging on a bag of chips. Hannah's Bretzel is phenomenal. While this particular location holds strange hours. I believe its M-F 7-4p and closed Saturday and Sunday (due to the office buildings around), it's worth it. The Turkey and Cheddar sandwich is incredible due to the sauce that they use and the fish apple slices they place on their sandwiches! 10/10 will always recommend Hannah's for any lunch or quick dinner needs! read more

This place upsets me! Why? Because there are NO locations in the suburbs!!!!! Holy cow, this sandwich is fantastic!!! If they were out in the suburbs, I would be eating this all the time. An organic fresh sandwich that is packed with flavor!!!! Hubby and I both had the Plainville Farms smoked turkey and cheddar, but I substituted the turkey with ham. I don't even know where to start. I was worried about this sandwich being too heavy because sometimes pretzel bread can be alot of bread with just a thin coating of the warm brown salted pretzel topping. Not the case, the bread is a bit thinner than any pretzel bread I've ever had which means you can taste the crunchy, salty part of the pretzel bread. Best part in my opinion. The cheddar, ham and apple slices were a nice combination, with the apple really giving just a touch of that sweetness against the cheddar. Then the greens just added a nice fresh veggie to the sandwich. And the roasted red pepper aioli had a nice flavor and not overpowering. The sandwich was just the right size and each bite was like a symphony in my mouth. The chips were also fantastic - a home-made crinkle-cut salt and pepper flavor and not overly peppery, at all, which I do not like. Just well seasoned. The almonds were very good, just a small cupful. And they don't have soda, but their Izze sparkling fruit drinks are a new favorite of mine. No added preservatives, sugar or caffeine. I am sold on this place and need to find more time and reasons to go into the city, so I can partake of these fantastic sandwiches again. Highly recommend this. So, on the food part I would give it 3 stars. The MANAGER would get a ZERO. I walked into the 66 w Randolph location and witnessed the manager in all her employees face yelling at them and threatening to send them home. She could have waited until I left, but no she went bat shit crazy on them. I couldn't wait to get out of there. I felt bad for them, I can't imagine how it is working with such a person.
