Came by for breakfast the other day and it was a mediocre experience. Ordered with the Gen Z staff who didn't seem to want to be there. Opted for the premium skirt steak breakfast with sourdough, scrambled eggs, and hash browns. The skirt steak was request medium rare and came out medium well and was quite tough. The scrambled eggs were creamy and decent. The hash browns were normal and the sourdough was rather dry. Opted for a latte and it felt quite thin. Didn't blow my socks away or anything, but I think it's a standard and solid breakfast/brunch spot, and you can sit there as long as you want since it's mostly self service. One side of the booth has superrr plump cushions that sink in when you sit and pillows too. Saw some ppl working on their laptops too - perfect remote work spot. I cannot resist ordering pasta whenever it's on any menu so I got the wild mushroom Alfredo fettuccine, which came with a really light and creamy sauce and some porcini mushrooms. I loveddd the thinly sheet shaved gruyere cheese on top which added some nice salty bits throughout the pasta. For this being mainly a brunch spot, thought this was quite delish and al dente. I stopped into Cupitol before work to grab a quick coffee and breakfast to go because they were the only coffee shop in the West Loop open early, and it ended up being just what I needed. I ordered an iced Nutella latté, a bagel with cream cheese, and hash browns to go. While I waited for my food and drink, I sat in the open seating. There are plenty of seating options for solo diners, small groups, and mid-size groups. The Nutella latté wasn't overwhelmingly sweet, so it's the perfect option for someone looking to satisfy their sweet tooth in the morning while still getting their caffeine fix. The bagel was toasted to perfection and came with Philly cream cheese. The hash browns came out fresh and were excellent-- not undercooked like I've found those of other coffee shops to be. Cupitol also offers a full lunch menu, and if the food is as fresh and delicious as the breakfast menu, you won't be disappointed. read more

I stopped here for a quick bite before catching a train out of Ogilvie Transportation Center. It was not too busy for a Sunday morning. It is a counter service place, where you order at the counter and they bring the food to your table but you pick up your drinks from the counter. I got the breakfast sandwich that came with bacon, American cheese, and a fried egg on a croissant. The bacon was perfectly cooked as I prefer for it to be on the crispy side. The staff were friendly and informed me it would take about 5 minutes for the iced green tea that I ordered. I was appreciative of getting the heads up. Because I had a bit of time I opted to dine in. The space is a little small but I would call it cozy and not too cramped. I have kinda mixed feelings about the place. I have ordered here a couple times when leaving the Metra station, which makes it a super duper convenient stop (especially on those days when I continue over to the CTA station instead taking a taxi). What I like: Their croissants are amazing, and I'm not even a croissant fan! I've ordered their breakfast sandwich and the croissant on which it's built is amazing. Buttery, flaky--a lot of other croissants look even more unappetizing now. They use a fried egg in the sandwich but I was able to select scrambled when I ordered online and they accommodated that request, so I assume you could as at the point of sale for a swap of egg style too. I've also had a pastry--actually, I think two, because I know I've had a cinnamon roll and I may have had a cheese danish too. The cinnamon roll doesn't look exactly like they often do--it looks like it's made in a muffin pan, but it is indeed a cinnamon roll and it's really good. What I don't like: Their pickup system, or lack thereof. I placed an order online so that I didn't have to wait when I got off the train. I ordered it when we were at the Clybourn stop so that it would be finished or close to when I got there. So when I arrived I wasn't sure where to go for pickup. It didn't make sense that I would need to stand in line so I went in via the exit door and... nothing that told me, by communication after placing my order or in store, that told me what next. The person at the register had a line of at least seven folks almost out the door so it didn't really seem like I should cut in to ask him whilst he was taking an order, and obviously that makes no sense anyway. There was a woman behind the espresso machine making drinks. There was a pickup sign on the counter but that seemed to be for those people who had just placed their order in store (and either way, there wasn't anything there). There was a woman wandering around and into the back but as I stood there for a few minutes, she didn't say anything. So finally I asked the woman making drinks where I was supposed to pick up an online order and the woman who was wandering went to get it (it was behind the counter, where it had been sitting since I got there because I had been watching the folks that had been in the front for a time when I could interrupt and none had brought something out). She placed it on the pickup area on the counter... so why couldn't they have left it there from the start and I could have just picked it up and left? Something they really need to improve upon since they do online orders. They have a good amount of indoor seating and they also have outdoor seating. If I understand correctly, they have wine and stuff in the evening? Good idea. I'll definitely be returning, because there's truly no easier way to get a quick breakfast or drink to go when I hop off the train, but I guess I'll just be pushier next time and/or cut in front of other customers. read more

The food we ordered just seemed bland with not a lot of distinct stand out flavors, hence the 4/5 stars. I love this place! It's the perfect affordable, quick and cute lunch or breakfast stop! Service is fast, and staff is so friendly! They are dog friendly and have a patio! They gave our doggies pup cups! I had the iced cafe freddo, which is an iced cappuccino and it was soooo delicious! Will be getting this again and again. I also had the Cobb salad with chicken. Had a quick breakfast at theis coffee shop before a meeting. There order attendant and the server were both pleasant. The coffee shop has a small area for seating with chairs and benches. Although comfortable, they do need to shampoo the material on the bench seating. I ordered a Chai Tea latte and Lox and bagel. The Chai was a bit weak in the herb taste and something on the lox and bagel was a bit salty. I could not tell if it was the bagel or lox. Came here for brunch and was a bit disappointed. The Nutella latte didn't have enough Nutella flavor in it- needed more of a hazelnut flavor to it. shroom omelet- it was WAY under seasoned, and couldn't really taste the cheese in it. Felt like I could make a much better one at home. Shrimp tostada was also ok- I didn't think the shrimp was seasoned well- and it didn't add much to the tostado itself. Yogurt/granola was the best thing I had there but that is really hard to mess up. Blueberry lemon pancakes were the best bite I had but it wasn't lemony at all- it needed that and a whip cream to add to it. Really cute spot, easy parking out front, and right next door to the French Market. Lots of space to work and have a snack and cup of coffee. Great view into the bakery which was fun as well. My sister and I met up to co-work, and had an issue connecting to wifi. We asked the various workers there a total of 4 times for help. We were told they aren't allowed to touch the WIFI and also "it was working for them, so it should be working" for us. Disappointing to pay top dollar for parking and coffee only to find out we had to leave. Luckily they refunded me for my coffee and Soho House took excellent care of us. Surprised that out of all the people working there, no one seemed to care at all. The chicken is always dry (I gave them more than one chance), the burger is unseasoned and for the high price around $11, you don't get a side. Very happened they open this near West Loop location as I used to date someone that lived right by the Streeterville location and now that I'm not seeing her that one is a bit out of the way lol! This one is located right next to the French Market which isnt far from me so its walkable. Staff here is always cool...my guys behind the counter are very funny and helpful if you have questions or need recommendations on food/drinks. I pretty much get the same thing as I am addicted to the Number 5 which is Off the bone Ham, fried egg and cheese on a croissant. The ham is like crack!! I've had the Breakfast Sandwich once and its basically the Number 5 but has bacon instead of the delicious ham. They have lots of breakfast items on the menu that I have yet to try but looks very good. They serve mimosas and other brunch style cocktails as well. This was my first time here and I was not disappointed. I kind of just followed suit because you stand in line to order your food and let the cashier know what number table you will seat and they bring your food to you. Everything is self service i.e water and condiments. The place is extremely small. There's outdoor seating but that's going to be no good in the winter time. There's only about 13 tables that sit 2 ppl on the inside. Not counting the 1 that seats about 10-11 ppl(to be shared). I'm a connoisseur of corned beef hash and when I tell you this corned beef hash was so delicious, probably one of the best ones I've ever had. The sticky buns with that oh so delicious butter is a must have!! Pancakes were a hit. The hashbrowns and eggs were a bit of a disappointment. The eggs came out cold and a hash browns had no flavor to them. Chicken sausage was delicious as well. The rest of the meal definitely made up for those eggs and hash browns. Stumbled upon when leaving the nail salon and decided to stop in. This place has so much potential because it's a nice place that sell all types of coffees, juices and even have breakfast food and sandwiches. Ordered a breakfast sandwich and a blueberry mimosa, which the mimosa was delish with kick! Who doesn't love a tasty buzzy mimosa?? That's $9...Ambiance is really nice. It has a true coffee feel with couches and long work style desks you can sit and to work while you sip on a hot or cold beverage. I enjoyed my visit. Knocking a star off because service lacked a little whereas I had to go up to the counter to order and wasn't told the ordering procedure when seated. My mimosa did not come and I had to go back to the counter and ask for it, but again these are small things that can be fixed and they gave me a free mimosa for my troubles so that was customer service. Came here on a whim after walking on the river walk and it's right beside a train station and a cute french market. They had a pretty long line when we got there which extended out the door but it moves quick. The inside is small so seating may be an issue on busy days. I ordered a Nutella latte and a avocado toast. The latte and the toast were really good! The only reason why I'm giving 4 stars is because I didn't realize my avocado toast only came with one piece of bread! The cost is about $10 so I figured it would come with either something else or an additional toast. I was still pretty hungry after I finished. I'll definitely come back to this spot though cause I did enjoy my food and drink but I'll probably order something else off of the menu or in addition to my meal. read more

Still my go-to for a midday coffee at work, but I think the word got out and the cafe got a little complacent on service? Maybe because I usually get there around the time for change of shift, but I felt like the new staff has been a little lackluster and out of it the past couple of times - orders were wrong or really slow, etc. When Javier and Stephanie worked there, my days lit up after a coffee run because they were so friendly and attentive, and I never hesitated to tip 22% on the screen.
