So far, a few recommendations have been on point and thank you all for helping me to discover Goody's. As long as I've been Yelping, I've never ever taken the time to write a review. This joint has compelled me. Popping my cherry on this one feels right. So here goes: Coming from the food service industry many years ago, I understand what makes for a successful establishment:1.) Product - If it does not taste great than what's the point. Goody's Donuts are the freshest donuts in OC. I suppose I was lucky to get a batch that just came out of the frier for my first Goody's experience. Hot Donuts vs Cold Donuts...NO COMPARISON. It's become an addiction.2.) Service- If you do not make the customer #1 than your establishment will not be #1. After chatting with the owner Poon or Tony (..this name given because he eats Frosted Flakes every morning)for the very first time, I told him that I felt very lucky to get them fresh out of the frier. He than proceeded to give me his phone number and said to call him ahead for a dozen hot anytime. What? Holy Cow..... Talk about Service! 3.) Location- thank goodness for the information age, Mapquest and Navigation because this joint is not located on Prime Real Estate. I'll make certain to include Poon in my next commercial property.4.) Marketing- Word of Mouth and Loyal Customers obviously are important and social networking works.OK enough business talk, sorry I do it for a living. If you say you're going to be open at 3am you should be open at 3am. Keep to your word. Expected them to be open with fresh donuts but much to my dismay nope they weren't. It was around 3:30am and I could see the man frantically making donuts. The donuts today will probably won't be as good as the other days since he's so hectic and chaotic. I came here last week and ordered a dozen donuts for a business meeting. The donuts were great and the service was excellent. The only thing I would mention is they really need to remodel and update the place. I feel like I went back in time to the 90's. I little bit of updating wouldn't hurt. Any maybe over different coffee options. All they had was those huge break room style coffee machines that make black coffee. Not the cleanest shop you'll go to and the donuts aren't the prettiest, but the donuts are delicious. Their plain Old Fashioned donuts are my favorite in the world. They are moist/soft on the inside and perfectly crunchy on the outside. My wife loves their maple/chocolate bars. read more

I came here on a weekday morning and got 2 dozen doughnuts for my coworkers as a thank you for my last day at work. I looked to Yelp to help me make the best choice for doughnuts. I wanted to impress on my last day. Maybe I'm picky, but I like my doughnuts light and fluffy. These were not. They were dark and dense. The oil needed to be changed that much was apparent. The taste of old oil ran thru every bite of my pastry. The reviews were right, it was a good value. Only $18 for 2 dozen was a great deal but the embarrassment of bringing dense, burnt, foul tasting pastries to all 21 of my coworkers will last forever. read more

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! I can't believe that in my 18 years of living in Cerritos and going to school right by Goody's I never went in to buy some donuts. Like many others, I thought the place was closed down cuz it was never ever open when I was nearby at like Taco Bell or the Korean market. Then one day, my friend brought a dozen of their donuts to practice at 6 AM and that's when I tasted the fluffiest and lightest donuts ever. I got a little bit obsessed, I must admit, to get my hands on the fried goodness. But with school and whatnot it wasn't an option. The donut shop's hours just didn't mesh with mine. Fast forward to now. I'm in college and that means mornings are freer than high school days. Thus, I ventured on over to Goody's at 11 A.M. with my mom and bought two donuts. The first choice was a quick decision because I love apple fritters and my mom thought theirs looked delish. Then the owner noticed that we seemed to be nubes at donut choosing so he asked if we've ever been there. Poom, that's his name, was so incredibly nice about introducing his products. Naturally, since the Tiger Tail is a trademark of Goody's, we had to get one. Then my chatty mom struck up a conversation with Poom about his business and whatnot. And like what she always does, she forgets about time and just talks talks talks. I freakin' had class and if we didn't leave right then, I would have been late for my first day of second semester! I felt like such a rude annoyance but I hate to keep nudging my mom and telling her we had to leave under my breath so that Poom wouldn't hear. But seriously, who was I kidding? There's not much you can conceal behind a glass donut display. Eventually my mom ended the conversation. Poom felt bad about causing the wait (he constantly apologized for being slow even though he was toootally fast and he was at no fault whatsover) so he threw in some donut holes, an additional Tiger Tail, and a bowtie donut. All in all, this should've come out to five bucks. But Poom wouldn't take our money and he gave us $3 change when we handed him a Lincoln. He said he wanted us to come back more often. With this service? heck ya! So for an apple fritter, 2 tiger tails, a couple of donut holes, and a bowtie (which is almost identical to a twist) we paid 2 bucks. GREAT DEAL. Now that I've covered the economical factor of Goody's, let's move on to the important stuff...how does it taste? As if Poom's service couldn't have been the best part of Goody's, his donuts actually tip the store over to the status of a haven of goodness. Hands down, the best apple fritter I've ever had. It was thick enough to not have most of it taste like it was fried, the apple and cinnamon was strong enough, not too sweet, and the dough was chewy enough. It was simply delectable. Now the Tiger Tail. I personally don't care too much for chocolate donuts so the Tiger Tail's plain and chocolate twirl of flavor was not the best to me. However, the consistency of the dough and all that makes a great donut still applied to the Tiger Tail. That's probably why I liked the bowtie better than the Tiger Tail. The bowtie is probably one of the lighter donuts that Poom has there and it was wooonderful as well. Man...I want me some Goody's Donuts now. You should definitely visit Poom and give him some business. Seriously, he deserves all the customers he can get. With him giving away donuts like that, on top of selling them for so cheap, he can't be making much money. Now go make yourself and Poom happy by going over to Goody's as soon as you can. read more

Seriously so good. For the past 5 years, I've passed by this doughnut shop and wondered why it was always closed so early, which in turn made me even more curious about the donuts and the people who owned the shop. FINALLY a month ago I got there just at 12:15 p.m. on a Sunday and it was open! It was empty, but as I proceeded to the display, the assortment of doughnuts looked really impressive. The glaze on the raspberry, maple, and chocolate doughnuts looked so bright, so fresh, and so unlike many doughnut shops I've visited in my life. The owners son is just so courteous and he even gave me a free doughnut called the "Tiger Tail" because he just "wanted me to try it". Seriously delicious. I personally believe its even better than Krispy Kreme, because it doesnt taste so damn sweet. Its perfectly proportioned on sweetness and buttery-ness. The PRICES as well is seriously unheard-of as well. 65 cents to $1. Most places now are 1.25 for ONE doughnut...AND it taste awful. This place is really worth it to get up early. The prices are phenomenal and you seriously feel like tipping them every single time. read more

WOW!!! THE TIGER TAIL!!! It was everything and more! Everybody was so friendly when you walked in. This place is less than 2 miles from where I work..... I'm following Mike Q.'s Yelp reviews & stumbled upon his on Goody's. I bought a dozen donuts for $7.50 (normally $7 but the tiger tail added 50 cents to the bill). 6 donut holes equal 1 donut. I planned to bite into my tiger tail when I got home but couldn't wait & snuck a piece while driving. I should have purchased a milk! I ended up eating half the donut before reaching home! I never had a tiger tail before, but I love donuts (glazed twists & maple bars are my faves); when I first bit into the tiger tail, I thought, "Wow! These ARE good!!" The donut had just the right amount of crunchiness and sweetness on the outside and heavenly pillowy softness inside. I wish there were a Goody's down the block, but I guess it's a good thing that it's a teensy bit of a drive or else I'd drop by daily!! The guy who helped me (owner's son?) was a little sick but one wouldn't know it had he not mention it because he had a wonderful personality, was smiling and very helpful & patient while I tried (for a long time) to figure out what I wanted in my dozen. The other donuts (yes, I ate more than the tiger tail! But only pieces of other donuts.) were yummy, too, but none of them wowed me like the tiger tail. I had my husband taste a little bit of my tiger tail when I got home (mistake). I think he thought I'd go for other donuts because a short while later he asked if he could finish off the rest of the tiger tail. I quickly shoved the last piece of it in my mouth & said, "Uh-oh! It's all gone." I see a second trip soon & although I didn't used to eat donuts often (no lie, I'd drop by a local shop to get one donut maybe twice a year), I believe GOODY'S DONUTS will be a regular stop for me & probably the only donut shop I'll visit from now on. read more

Touring donut shops in the area and today I tried this place and Modoo in Buena Park. Not much of a variety here. I got a chocolate foot which I thought would have cream in it or something but was just a plain chocolate bar in the shape of a big foot. A lemon filled glaze which the lemon filling was too sweet and an after taste like most places didn't taste fresh, my daughters favorite is chocolate old fashion with chocolate frosting and rainbow sprinkles and she liked Modoo's donut more not sure why though (she's 5 and just said it's yummier). Got two of the chocolate twist since everyone says it's amazing and I think the ones at Disneyland are better and fresher. I wasn't impressed. read more

Went again and brought my friends to try the tiger tails. The quality this time wasn't as good as it usually is. The dough was too thick, cakey, and a bit dry and the chocolate stripes weren't crunchy. I was a bit disappointed/embarassed since I was hyping it up so much. Maybe it was a bad batch, but the thing about Donut Man is their doughnuts are always consistent in quality AND they're good. Come on! Step it up Goodys! Wow. Today was the first time I tried it and I'm hooked! I sampled the glazed donut first: Unlike other donut shops, this was taller in height but smaller in diameter. Upon taking it out of the bag, the first thing I noticed was how warm it was, even after sitting in the bag for my 15 minute commute to work. I took it out of the bag and took a bite. The texture on the inside was just right, soft and moist and the sugary glaze melts in your mouth with every bite. It's not overly sweet, but just the right amount perfectly complements the soft dough. I don't remember the rest since i completely devoured it... but it's good enough that I'll be back soon. For less than three quarters a donut, it's a new weekly treat for me! Please, stay open longer... but I'm sure there's a reason why they close at 12pm! read more

Hands down, the best donuts EVER! The popular selection to get here is the tiger tail, which is a glazed twist wrapped in crunchy chocolate. Really low key, mom/pop donut shop that has been opened for I believe 30-40 years. Not much has changed since, no remodeling the place is just plain old. But I can tell you the donuts their are real comfort food. Although I haven't tried there donut aside from the "buttermilk", everyone knows of Goody's in Cerritos or neighboring cities and not one have I heard prefers going to other local shops to satisfy their sugar cravings. On to the point, the "buttermilk" which there is a chocolate glazed or plain version. I had the plain version which was deep fried to a light crisp on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. And the inside is not too doughy/moist nor is it dry. For just $.70, you can get one and it's just a tad smaller than a bear claw. But it is greatness in your mouth. Be sure to get there before 12 PM as they close at that time everyday. read more
