Goody's Restaurant - Jumbo gyro with fries. Tastes amazing - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Brook Park, Ohio

We've been going to Goody's for years as a business, and with friends. Recently, I chose this place to interview potential employees with my partner and brother. I cannot wear a mask because I have asthma and also I choose not to because it is unhealthy. One of the owner's younger relatives escorted us to our seats with no problem. My brother arrived late and he cannot and will not wear one either. He was immediately yelled at by a young male host, (the owner's son or nephew I believe), while slamming a box of masks down next to him. My brother respected their requests saying "you have a private business and that's your choice" and turned around and left while the owner and 2 others showed him out yelling at him. I told Mike that I have no problem with him doing that but why was I let in but not my brother? He knows we both always sit down together, eat and leave good tips....for years. The problem I had was how this young worker handled it. Very unprofessional, embarrassing and made the whole restaurant stop eating for a moment while they continued to yell and make a fool of himself. They did everything to my brother but touch him, which would be a big mistake! The other problem is whether or not restaurant owners enforce the mask mandate (because they have to as they are slaves to the health board and state government) or if they are lenient with patrons choice of wearing a mask, the rats and contact tracers will hop on the 1-800 number to call and report the restaurant to the powers to be. It happens often, the people who frequent a restaurant they like, will also report them if they witness these events. Not realizing how ignorant they are, that the restaurant will eventually be shut down sooner because of their actions. So whether or not they enforce it strictly or not, most restaurants like Goody's will close down. I feel for them because their hands are tied. But I don't agree with how they handled my brother. I know a number of people that go here because I told them about this place. But they now know how we truly feel. Mike is a great restaurant owner, but his younger help needs some lessons on etiquette and how to handle his temper. read more

We loved our experience at Goody's! Gabby was our server and she is top-knotch. The food was delicious too. I had the breakfast wrap with gyro meat and my boyfriend had the gyro breakfast bowl (they have different names that I don't remember). Both were so good and I just enjoyed my leftovers for lunch! This place was very clean and friendly staff. We will definitely be back! My big request for Goody's is to PLEASE get paper to-go containers and coffee cups - no more Styrofoam! read more

We have eaten at Goody's several times and have always been more than pleased. The food, service and atmosphere was always great. On the 9th. of July, 2018 we went for a late breakfast (11:30AM) and was unpleasantly surprised. The service was near nonexistent. The food was cold and no butter was served with the cold toast. The eggs, ordered over easy, were near hard! The skillet we ordered was cool - not piping hot! We were not approached by the waitress after the meal was served, except for the check ($20). The server was borderline rude and seemed to want to be somewhere else. We will return but, definitely not for breakfast. read more

This was the best home cooked food place. Very cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. We where in town on vacation for my son's 17th birthday weekend. I ordered cake for dessert and the waitress brought his piece out, with a candle and even sang Happy Birthday with us. read more

Okay so after the last issue with this place. Re returned today for lunch. Food was good and this time the chef wasn't even on his phone. However the what turned out to be the owners wife. Was talking to one of the waitresses or better said the entire restaurant about how much the items cost the owner and why they can't give discounts to the associates telling her every other sentence in my opinion you should do this and in my opinion you should do that yada yada yada. SHE WAS SO LOUD I THOUGGT SHE WAS YELLING AT THE WAITRESS. So when we were leaving my wife mentioned to her thAt she was so LOUD it was obnoxious to all the customers. She replied with oh okay well this is a family establishment not a fine dining restaurant. My wife said well you don't need to be so loud and she replied well I will tell my husband the owner maybe he will fire me and then laughed in my wiges face. Just to sum it up We have eaten there on average of once a month or so for the last 3 years or so. All I can say is we will not be going back. THE OWNERS WIFE is nasty. read more

My husband and I eat there quite often and have found the service to be very friendly, with the food arriving quickly. We have never found the owner to be anything but friendly and mild mannered. Perhaps the people who indicated the owner was rude had the wrong restaurant in mind. We've arrived there with a group before and not everyone was there at the same time. We were seated and offered beverages while we waited. Restroom is always clean. Food is decent, reasonably priced. The soup is great. Almost all the good reviews are for breakfast. The dinners are poor. Almost all entrees are fried food. Spaghetti way overcooked, sauce tasted like plain tomato paste. Sign said best Gyro in town. So I thought to myself even if it was an exaggeration how bad could it be? Mistake #1 - Don't answer question above until you know if any other places serve Gyros. Because if that was the best I would hate to see what came in second. Mistake #2 - I ate it. This thing was served to me that looked like dried up dog feces sliced with some diced tomato (I had asked to hold the onions). It was dried out almost to the point of being jerky. However, It was late and my only other option was a Bob Evans across the street (in hind sight a much safer option) so I dug in. The taste wasn't bad once I got past the died out pieces of what I hope was meat. Some pieces were just not editable but the majority went down with a couple diet Pepsis. I paid the tab and went back to my hotel across the street. Four hours later the real problems started happening. I will spare you the details but Montezuma would be proud. So if you are in need of a meal in this area and don't have a vehicleI recommend any of the other places the hotel recommends but steer clear of Goodys. read more

Hit the Planet Fitness nearby and decided to stop here afterward for some eggs. Had vegetable omelette which rocked! The bacon was ok - not crispy like I prefer. The coffee tasty. Service exceptional at the counter. People around these parts just seem friendlier and in this place it was great. Family owned and operated, no part of a big chain and it shows in how they care. Very traditional family-owned restaurant that feels very "homey" inside. The food is good, the prices are great, and the portions are filling. Great breakfast place! They have excellent breakfast skillets, I went there on 2 separate occasions and ordered the same thing and both times my Italian Skillet was consistently good. There menu is a perfect size, not too small and not too big to overwhelm you. I also went on Father's Day and we only had to wait about 5 minutes (even though they said it would be a 20 minute wait). Will never go back!! Was served food on a dirty plate and when it was brought to the waitresses attention, she took it back to the kitchen and put the same food on a different plate and brought it back! How disgusting!!! When something was said to a manager, we were charged more for the 2 pieces of French toast that was eaten than the price was for the entire entree. When we asked about that, we were told to "get out" by whom I would have taken to be one of the owners since who we were told was the manager was looking to her for guidance about the situation. When we tried to say something about the dirty plate, we were told that they would NEVER bring food out on a dirty plate, but yet the waitress stated that yes it was dirty. This place is gross and they obviously don't know how to interact with the public as telling your customers to "get out" is not good business practice! Goody's, a hearty breakfast served at top speed with a smile! My wife and I stopped in for the first time ~9am on a Thursday while the local firemen and other nearby workers were grabbing breakfast. The staff was genuinely friendly and quietly delightful - attentive without being interruptive - but also ready for a conversation if a patron wanted to start one. Clean and efficient, the only slow-down was us as we perused both sides of the nicely priced all-day breakfast menu. In mere minutes of ordering we had a delicious hot breakfast with eggs to order, crisp hash browns with tender potato centers, and an interesting gyro omelette that the sauce really pulled together. This is a family restaurant run by a man who is out of control. I went there to join my family in a meal but they were late. I was told I could not occupy a table until the entire party was there. OK I understand but I asked for coffee while I waited but they refused. When my family arrived I told them that I was REFUSED coffee and the owner went nuts! He started to shake and yelled "get out" to us. He was clearly out of control and I feared for my life! We left in a hurry and will never go back. I recommend you stay away. Absolutely NO service provided by waitress today - manager DID NOT apologize for her staff! We came for breakfast, ordered for 3 people. Asked the waitress for extra napkins. She never came back to the table to refresh coffee or bring the napkins. Once she dropped off the food, the waitress never came back to inquire how the food was, or to top off coffee. Had to get coffee from a different waitress that we stopped and napkins from the manager. When the manager brought the napkins, told her that the service was subpar - no apologies, just a blank look in her face and she walked away. The food is OK for breakfast and the breakfast prices are a little higher than elsewhere - but we won't be back due to the extremely poor service and clueless owner/manager.
