Let me start by saying that the servings here are HUGE! I ordered the Greek omelette which came with 2 huge pancakes as well as potatoes - had to take the pancakes to go. The omelette was okay and the potatoes were fried which was not what I would expect from a breakfast dish. That being said, everything was fairly average. Not much ambiance as it's just your typical diner. Service was friendly and the server was very helpful for answering any questions we had. Very affordable prices, good portions and friendly staff! We came in at 9am on a Sunday and our party of 6 was able to get seated right away. By the time we left around 10:30 they were packed! The staff was attentive and kind and you could tell that's always the expectation. I had cinnamon roll pancakes and a scrambler. I had enough food to share and take some home! My daughter had the kids quesadillas and they were packed with cheese! She loved it! And for 8$ for a kids meal and drink, we'll definitely be back. My son had the kids chocolate chip pancakes. Art is a very small little diner, and it was packed when I went in. I really like the diner vibe and the waitress was very helpful with telling me recommendations. I ordered one of the skillets and I have to say I didn't like it. I am sure somebody else would like it, but it had too much stuff on it and it was a little bit greasy, but I also ordered half a waffle and it was delicious. This is a gem located in the East side of Indianapolis. They have got a lot of varieties on the menu and quite a few vegetarian options as well. Their customer service was good. Their ambience is good and they are very busy on a Sunday morning. They have a huge parking space outside where this restaurant is located. They have outdoor seating too. went to eat at Art's skillet restaurant on Pendleton Pike and noticed after I consumed my food 3 fly strips hanging between each ceiling light above the counter seating area...OMG!!!! very disgusting to see this...I went to look further to even see some dead flies still attached to the strips while customers were eating their food... maybe the customers did not notice but I did. could the restaurant be more courteous by concealing this bothersome fly problem? Wow! I was so impressed with the quality of service and food here. It is a quaint little stand alone building that will not disappoint! I normally get a basic breakfast when dining out and play it safe with an egg and cheese sandwich, but decided to venture out with the turkey skillet. Every flavor worked flawlessly together! The broccoli was charred perfectly, the mushrooms had the perfect umami balance, and the almonds were toasted to perfection! My friend opted for the biscuits and gravy and said the gravy was salted perfectly and the biscuits were the best he has had in a long time. When we left he said... Always looking for a diner for breakfast when I travel. Arts definitely fit the Bill. This is a neat little diner with a small bar area. It wasn't very busy the day myself and a colleague stopped in. We were waited on right away. I will say the coffee is pretty darn good. I had a Mexican breakfast bowl with chorizo and jalapeños. Extremely tasty. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. Even the menu was clean and showed no finger prints. I ordered Chiliquailles with medium eggs. Eggs were perfect. I haven't had anything this good since Mexico. My husband ordered waffles with chicken. The chicken was 1/2 of chicken and the waffles were Belgian. My husband really liked it. Not many places have surprised me so much. I stopped by on my lunch break and was sat immediately. Had my food in front of me in less than 20 minutes. (Peep the photo) Gotta be the best fries I've had in the area and the chicken sandwich was fire. The cheese was completely melted and bacon was perfectly crisp. I get that we had high winds last night but thats no excuse! Send someone out with a pick up the trash with a pickup tool! and clean up that trash! I did go to the bathroom so I can't say but the building needs paint and some up grading like 5 yrs ago! It's a dump! And the food isn't amazing and he has 2 restaurants! Yesterday, I went to brunch with my twin brother and husband. We wanted to check out something near my Twin's neighborhood and Art's Skillet is just a hop, skip, and, a jump from him. We walked in about 12 noon, had a slow start to my morning and didn't get out the door as quickly as planned, and when I arrived I was literally starving, only drank my hot tea all morning no food yet. We walked inside and were seated right away, when I tell you we weren't even standing up front for one minute, I'm not exaggerating. But that didn't mean their weren't customers, this place was full and busy. Didn't feel cramped or anything like that. Plenty of seating for our small party or a family if you want to bring your entire crew. Our waiter was a true gentleman, he was funny and super efficient. This is a Latin-owned restaurant I believe, so our waiter spoke English and Spanish. I took Spanish a good chunk of my grade school and secondary school so it's always refreshing to catch up on some of that in the community. Our drinks and orders came out in less than 5 minutes when I tell you they were on it, they were ON IT! This was perfect for me since I decided not to eat all morning. I ordered the Art's Combo Platter which is basically a 2x2x2 style breakfast platter. The pancakes were just ok (they didn't taste very pillowy or soft, and were a bit grainy), but the scrambled eggs were cooked well, and the bacon strips were crispy. I ordered potatoes with my platter, and they were fried, but I could tell they added salt and that was honestly too much. My advice, ask them to hold the extra salt on the potatoes. Everything eaten together tasted like your typical diner breakfast, and it was hot and ready. Enough food to take some home if you would like and you cannot beat the prices! Very good prices for the amount of food you actually get. Oh and did I mention the MENU! They have one of the largest selections for a menu I have ever seen! Enough options, for the picky eaters, regular eaters, heavy eaters, and light eaters. Their menu spans the entire spectrum of breakfast and lunch offerings, and they also serve Fajitas! I would give the actual food a 3.5 star rating overall, and I gave the overall experience a 4 star rating because their service was truly superb! It's loud in this restaurant so if you are looking for a quiet spot this isn't the place. I hope that it was just a bad day, because I should've asked for a refund. The French toast tasted like cooked bread, without any flavor. Although their seating protocol seems odd (20 minute wait to sit at the same table outside that had been empty the whole time we were waiting) once we were seated the food was worth the wait. We started with the fried biscuits. Delicious. Tons of powdered sugar and the orange marmalade cinnamon syrup is so good! Crazy bad for you but so delicious! The Navy Seal skillet was amazing. Needed some ketchup and hot sauce to cut through the cheesy potatoey richness. The sourdough was perfectly toasted and buttered. Strawberry jam (and an orange marmalade) option topped it perfectly. The chicken fried steak was well seasoned, maybe a tad heavy on the breading- but it was cooked great. That being said, the tradition is appreciated, and we had excellent service from being greeted at the door to being checked out at the end of our dining experience. I had Art's famous skillet, which had potatoes, spicy chorizo sausage, jalapenos, and was topped with two scrambled eggs mixed with salsa and monterey and cheddar cheese. I can see why it's "Art's Famous" - it was a great skillet. The chorizo and cheese in particular was really well done. I had pancakes on the side, and while they were good, I wouldn't call them anything special or different than your standard diner pancakes. Breakfast isn't typically all that expensive to eat out if you're going to a diner, and this was no exception. We dined as a couple for under $25 after tip and tax, a great value in my eyes. A gem of a Diner, Art's Skillet boasts a diverse menu that will keep you interested for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. I was visiting the area and decided to stop in for lunch. The restaurant was busy but not crowded. I tried the MYO omelet ( chorizo, cream cheese, and avocado) with hash browns and pancakes. It was delicious. My server Carlos did a great job. The restaurant is nothing fancy but appears to appeal to a broad range of customers. If I am ever in the area again, I will stop in to try out something else on the menu.
