Love Goodys! We went to enjoy some drinks for my 40th (5 women dressed as men) and we had the best time. Vibes were great and the bartenders were so nice. The only downside is they are not very nice to non-locals. We got pushed around quite a bit and had some rude comments made to us, but I can't fault the bar for that. The bar is staffed typically by kids that don't know what they're doing at all which is fine because the entire bar will fill with children by nine pm. This is a bar for nineteen year old marines from the base to start fights with locals, twenty three year olds who get offended by anything you say because they only understand "trigger words;" and twenty one year old local boys who rove the bar in packs looking for trouble anywhere they can find it. The bar itself smells like rancid beer, the bar top is always sticky and the bartenders are slow (physically/ mentally). Be prepared to be kicked out by extremely rude and violent "bouncers" and extremely sensitive young bartenders for anything, even waiting for a drink for half an hour and saying "what does it take to get a drink around here," saying something like that, even completely joking- the bartenders will instantly kick you out before the bouncers have a chance to drag you out. (The fact that they need bouncers tells you what you're getting into). They expect you to be a hostile brat so they automatically treat you like one even if you're obviously a respectable adult. The bar is old and hasn't changed a thing ever which would be fine if it was a nice place that you're keeping for nostalgia but this place is a mess and always has been. They have a real "my first bar" vibe at night and a few old drunks with their heads in the glass during the day. If you're just visiting please stay away from this place- you'll get robbed, pickpocketed, beat up, thrown out by violent bouncers, given a terrible drink after waiting forever, charged too much and finally, you'll always be yelled at for unknown offenses, by children who are always looking for a fight. read more

Holly is honestly the reason I keep coming back. She's one of those people who makes you feel welcome the second you walk in. She always remembers who you are, takes the time to have a real conversation, and somehow remembers the little things even if it's been a while since your last visit. She's super genuine, down to earth, and never makes you feel like just another customer. It's always nice walking in and having her say hi and remember you. Great service is one thing, but it's rare to find someone who is also just such a kind and authentic person. She's the best! read more

I'd call Goody's a clean large dive bar. It's nice and clean, bartenders are very friendly and patrons' fun. Goody's feature free pool games on Mondays and $5 you call it. I was shocked by the blatant disrespect and discriminatory behavior from the staff at Goodies. My friend was denied entry even after providing two valid forms of government ID. It was clear the "ID issue" was just a poor excuse for homophobia, as the bouncer's attitude was incredibly hostile and dismissive once they realized his sexual orientation. We were looking for a fun night out, but instead, we were met with a toxic environment that clearly does not welcome the LGBTQ+ community. There are far better bars in the area that treat all customers with basic human decency. Save your money and go somewhere that actually values inclusivity. What a joke! I'm really disappointed to be leaving this review because I truly love Goody's! However, yesterday my friends and I went there to have a fun time and enjoy the music. No more than an hour after we arrived, one of the bartenders flagged us down and told us we had to leave, which made no sense. I've heard of other people getting kicked out too, but that's usually because they're being belligerently drunk or unable to handle themselves. It's unfortunate that I have to write this, but the bartender accused an old friend of mine of leaving an open tab and not tipping. I'm not sure if that was just a tactic to get more money and tips. My girlfriend and I decided to go to a local bar after eating out on the pier and Goodys did not disappoint. They have free pool and free karaoke! We got 4 beers for less than $30 which we have found to be a good deal on the coast of california. The service was amazing, the drinks were available immediately and the woman in charge of karaoke made an effort to be personal with all the people that decided to perform. I've been stopping through San Clemente for sometime now and didn't key into Goody's until this last layover. My favorite bars are cowboy honky tonk type because they are the only bars that play country music, my preference. Unfortunately, they can also be the most unruly as well. Goody's seems to be pretty laid back. It has a funky cowboy surfer feel. Lot's of tanned good looking beach girls with cowboy boots and redneck marines. I personally don't hang out a lot at Bars or Taverns much but I learned about Goodys from a long time friend of mine when he asked me to stop in for a beer before I went home after work. So one day I did, and I met a few other real great guys who were interesting to talk to and soon found out they were quite funny and I found myself laughing every time I stopped in. Well not only did I find my new friends great to see there but the Bartenders as well were so cordial and attentive serving us our drinks and talking with us when they can. I never have to to say what Beer I want to order because somehow they remember ever time I come in.... Heather is one of my favorites because she not only listens but has a great sense of humor that I really get a kick out of. She can really make you laugh sometimes with her honesty, She makes visiting Goodys fun. Grace and Erika are also very special because they also make my time at Goodys a pleasant one. Anyway, I highly recommend stopping in at Goodys Tavern in San Clemente, it is a great place with Great Bartenders and Regulars who all get along like we should these days. They don't have a drink menu with prices. They have happy hour every day until 7 pm they say. I went on Friday after 7pm bill 21.00. went the next day during happy hour 3 same drinks as Friday non happy hour bill was 28 it should have been 18, but different prices depending on the bar tender .
