I was shocked to see that Gage Gallagher is still allowed into the bar - although one woman has already reported him to the OCSD. When he realised she wasn't OK and needed help - instead of calling an Uber and accommodating her - he looked to the sides, making sure nobody would see what he was going to do, and pushed her to her car. When he saw a lot of people grouped together behind her car who were not leaving, watching him, he (like a true maniac) turned around and ran, leaving his victim behind, absolutely helpless and miserable. Later, he confirmed in writing that he fully understood that the girl was finally unconscious and he planned to take advantage of her. Reportedly, some females are working this bar too, trying to get pregnant and victimise young marines. The previous bouncer, Andrew Golemon-Mercer, was informed about the incident, but not the new one, although he got a daughter. ps this review is about our own experience with the business and is not motivated by media attention. read more

If you like a frat house party with ugly people meets Roadhouse-by-the-beach, then Goody's may be the place for you. Although we only spent a total of eight minutes inside, it was more than enough to determine: A) A swarm of four OC Sheriff deputies manned near the front door is never a good sign. B) Played out hip-hop with more stylish and attractive people would have made Goody's more do-able. C) Spotting barfed up chicken and peas in the men's restroom piss trough sealed the bar's fate. D) Listening to a similar horror story from my sister in the restroom - except her's was of a girl fight in said restroom. E) Roided-out Marine meatheads are turn offs, especially when they push their way through the crowd and try to start a fight with me until I shook his hand and played nice. Then I was his best friend and he wanted to do shots, or something. E was the final straw. Those were five straws too many in my opinion. When I first moved to San Clemente a few years ago, like I've done everywhere I've lived, I set out to find a local pub where not only I could get to know the locals, but also enjoy that family feel only good pubs know how to deliver. I found that at Goofy's ( which, incidentally should be named Goofy's - it's a surfing town you know). Not only are the owners amazingly good and approachable people, they have very attentive and sociable bartenders. There is one bartender in particular who is simply amazing - Heather. She can single handedly take care of a busy Sunday football crowd, but do so while still engaging all customers with conversation and smiles. If you've been to Goodys in a Sunday, you know the place can get very busy. Any bar would be well off to find someone like Heather. read more

Live 80's rock, no food, a couple loose girls, and Marines. Supposed bar owner Vincent, may want too shut down early forcing you do guzzle the order you just recieved and "get out!" Yelling this throughout the bar. This guy thinks very little of his patrons. He literally gave me one more sip or he was taking my drink. With his 2 bouncers behind him he looked like he wanted to start punching people. Very intimidating and quite the buzz kill. Do everyone a favor and skip this leg of the triangle. The other 2 bars are much better anyways. Hey Vince, your lack of class shines throughout your dive. Also, 4 OC sherriffs walked through as part of their patrol and are watching the parking lot. This place SUCKS now. I use to come here all the time until it became a hook up bar for fat chicks and marines. This place sucks. Their bands use to be legit until they got these dumba$$es that think their screaming and screeching is 80's music. Guitar player is okay but the rest sucks. Drummer can hang on a beat, singer (female) is horrible and the other dude that tries to do everything (guitars, keys, sing, etc.) is just plain horrible. They all think they're great and that is probably why this run down joint keeps them around. I'm a huge fan of dive bars. I love the grungy feel, rancid smell in the air of bad decisions, and cheap drinks. Goody's offers all of these (and more). There are always characters to watch at Goody's, especially the Marines. They tend to get overly-aggressive and fighting usually always occurs. Cops are always in the parking lot, ready to break up whatever fight begins. I like that there's no cover charge. It's nice to have a little extra money to spend on a drink. Besides the fights that occur, I really enjoy this bar. Check it out if you're a fan of the typical dirty dive bar. read more

I don't typically go there often..but when I do it's because of the coolest girl that works there! Here names Cameron and she makes one of the better Jell-O shots I've had at bars. Taste good and she makes em strong. Also provides good and speedy service even when she's busy. If your going alone and just looking to meet new people she's definitely one to keep a conversation with and will totally have you laughing.Goodys is a good time I've never had issues with the bouncers or bartenders. Mixture of old and young crowds, if your getting beer just order a pitcher instead. read more

The live band they had the night I went was great . . . older dudes that had the chops to be major rockers back in the day, but somehow fell through the cracks and now rock dive bars. That's a good scene. Lots of dancing. Some beautiful women in attendance. Though they're all on the defense cause they all think every man is a marine trying to get laid or some sh*t. That seems to be a San Clemente flaw and no particular fault of the bar but it does get one less star for that. It's a good bar. read more

I've been having a beer or 4 at Goody's for the last fifteen years, and there's no place in San Clemente I'd rather enjoy my afterwork drinks. The best part is my dog Brady is always welcome and Heather always has a treat for him, so long as he minds his P's and Q's. Sunday football wouldn't be as much fun without the crowd of local fans who know how to enjoy a game and a beer with the best of em. Not a review of the bar overall, just a comment on the recent review of a bouncer. I saw the woman who wrote the review constantly harassing said bouncer the entire night. She would get a centimeter away from his face and scream at him. He did nothing. He had a blank stare and didn't react. He did not do anything wrong, she was the aggressor. Was here for first time this last Friday, very cool spot. Classic sports bar vibes with a friendly crowd. Met the bartender Erika who was very cool, always smiling (my way!). Being a whiskey drinker she turned me onto green tea shots... very tasty. It was a great a nite at a very cool place. Definitely going back soon. Highly recommend. I came to this amazing bar on Saturday for a girls night out on the town. The music was great, the drinks were cold, but what was even better was the bartender, Grace. She was so fun, her smile is electric. She was dancing through the crowd, setting the energy for my Saturday night. She really made my night with her shining personality. read more

I have been to this bar a couple times and every time I have gone it has been a good experience. I like the fact that you can go dance cause a lot of places in OC do not have that. I love this place... every night is different, but the same. Friday and Saturday, live music with test tubes and Jello shots (Shout out to Cam). Karaoke Tuesdays, Country Night Wednesdays, Free pool Sunday and Monday. The regulars are great. What more could you want? read more
