SCAMMER WARNING! This store is beyond awful. They are true scammers. Purchased a phone on 2/5 and when I got to T-Mobile to activate it, it was cracked. Took it back to the store and some "manager" claimed that the only choice I had was to make an insurance claim and get it repaired. When I went to make the claim, they told me only advanced replacement was possible. They sent me a refurbished phone; they refuse to refund something that came to them broken thus sold to me and now they are threatening to close my account if I involve the credit card company. Folks, this Google Store has scammed me out of $1700. I am shocked and appalled at the level of customer service that I was given, and they should be even more ashamed that the "manager" refused a customer satisfaction incident. I used to be as fan of those products, but I can understand how they are in last place. I know this will do nothing because the whole customer service structure from the store to the phone is horrible but hey maybe if I can prevent someone else from going through this, then I maybe I won. Stellar store! Unsure of the mixed reviews. We made an appointment online to pickup and setup our new phones. We were coming from an older version of the Pixel so transfers are relatively simple, however, I hate doing the sim card bit (I know, I know) and decided to let the pros handle it here. When you walk in you're greeted immediately. The help desk is welcoming and there is always someone there to assist. We were matched with James who had us check our order then sat us in this cozy area with comfy seats and tables. My old phone had some issues connecting with the new phone, however, James went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly. We ended up having a whole conversation with him and it was great! After about an hour, our phones were setup and ready to go. On the way out we had our cases customized by an onsite artist (no fee!) and checked out the Pixel Watch 3 (which I have now ordered). Everybody here is incredibly friendly and helpful. Also there's no chaos like the Apple store! Across the street is Chelsea Market, which was much needed after switching phones. read more

This store is located right across from the Chelsea market in Manhattan. With so many other attractions in the vicinity I couldn't miss this one. This was my first time at a Google store and I got surprised by the cool design and store layout, as well as all the different Google merchandise that was available, the shelves, etc. It's nice to see a an alternative to Apple stores. All in all, I like it a lot and I wish Google opens more stores somewhere else. read more

Google is going to take over the World. Recently every time I search Google I am asked to log into my account. I remember the headquarters was located here in Chelsea Market. I understand they spent a couple billion for a new office building in St. John's Terminal in Hudson Yards. Since their New York Headquarters is not in Yelp and I visited this store years ago, I'm putting my review here. I'm am an avid Yelper but an employee at Fleet Feet said his company doesn't pay attention to any reviews but Google. I only did one other Google review in my life and that was for the Verizon Store that saved my life and iPhone need during Shelter in Place Covid. The store was open and the employee bent over backwards to get me a phone and transferred my data. He asked me to do a Google review so I did. Bottom line I gave in today and downloaded the Google App. If I don't have to keep signing in I may use it. I'm giving in but refuse artificial intelligence and I go to trusted sources for everything. Be careful with Google, Facebook and other A.I. I'm not going to use platforms that can't be trusted. I'll see how long I keep the app for now. I did call Fleet Feet to let them know I did the review and suggested they pay attention to Yelp reviews too! read more

I had the same scam experience which another user posted as a one star about the Google Chelsea Store. The problem: Google has no way of dealing with scams at their stores which is easily accessible. I tried their chat, voice system, and on and on, no way to report that store personnel are apparently stealing packages, in my case saying: "We don't take deliveries at this store." and then snickering, indicating they just got themselves a new Google product at my expense. Google asked me to return the product for a refund and when I explained what happened, seems they have no way to deal with store fraud. My lesson: Never buy a product from the Google Store again. This is a shock since there has never been a problem before, but the issue is that when there is an issue, you are out the bucks. read more

After less than a year using my Pixel 9 Pro Fold, it slowly stopped charging over the period of a month or so. In addition, the screen no longer turned on when I opened it up -- it would take a lot of opening and closing to get the screen to appear. So, yesterday I headed over to the Chelsea Google Store to get help with it. What a joke, help is the last thing they did. There was no information as to how to sign up to get help and the employees behind the counter made sure not to make eye contact. I eventually ended up having to ask one of the customers and she informed me I had to sign up with one of the people roaming around with a tablet. After searching around, I tracked down someone with a tablet and a sour attitude who took my name. I then sat down to wait my turn. At that time there were just 3 employees at the help desk, but once one of them finished up with a customer, he packed up and left. Leaving only 2 people to handle the help desk. However, these 2 employees spent the next 20 minutes helping a single customer and ignoring all the people waiting for help. Sitting there watching this clown show, I was thinking how much money Google hauls in every minute of every day and yet they only have 2 people to work their help desk in their flagship store. Lame. Eventually, my name was called and I explained my problems. The employee took one look and immediately concluded it was water damage and with actual glee, informed me that because of that, it nullified my warranty. That answer and the way it was said had me wondering if water damage might just be a convenient way for not making good on their warranty. Because it had never touched water in its short existence. The entire experience was so bad. Non-caring, almost non-existent customer service and then the rude swagger to blame the customer for water damage, when there was none. I personally recommend staying away from Pixel Fold and this store if this is how they operate. The phone cost me a small fortune -- I bought it outright off their site 11 months ago, but now it's just a $1,900 paperweight. What a joke of a product and sad excuse for customer service. I'm an Android user. No fruit for me. So it was nice to stop in and check in the merch at the Google Store. Especially as my current Google Pixel 4 is going to be out of support soon. Do I let Google keep me in the cycle of planned obsolescence and buy a Pixel 6 (or Pixel 7) or do I switch to Samsung or another provider (not Apple!) and not let them think they've beaten me? Phones, Chromebooks, service and help with repairs. The Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6a are really nice. And the store is really nice, too. No decision made today. The Google Store, Chelsea, staff were very pleasant and helpful setting up and transferring all data over to my new cell phone. I cannot say enough good things about the staff. HOWEVER, Google being the supposed "tech giant" has not been able to provide the promotional $100 Google Store credit for purchasing a cell phone after 5-days. (Google Store staff advised it would take 24-48 hours max.) The multiday response from Goggle, who only communicates via chat or email (no direct phone contact), advised that a "store pick-up order" is an "unusual case" and that its "higher support team is looking for a resolution" to provide the promotional store credit. The Google Store and its "higher support team" get an F for customer support and problem solving skills. As I patiently wait for a response, I have put the cell phone purchase in dispute with my credit card company for the $100 Store Credit due and owing by Google. Make a purchase at the Google Store at the risk of being disappointed. read more

I feel like I got taken advantage of to the tune of $100. I wanna believe it was an honest mistake, but that mistake wasn't mine and I ended up having to pay out of my pocket. Came here after buying a Pixel 6 that ended up having a non-fuctioning microphone. This was about a month after purchase, so I went to the Google store to see if they could fix it, and if not, if I could exchange the phone. I was attended to quickly and the person helping me (I won't be mentioning their name at all in this review) confirmed, with ease, that I was right -- the microphone was not working. He said he would exchange the phone and it wouldn't be a problem. Here's were it starts to get fishy. Instead of doing an exchange, he processed this instead as a return. He said this was how it was done. I'd get my money back completely and would just repurchase the phone in-store. He marked my phone as being returned because of a "5g modem problem" instead of what it actually was. I got my new phone and walked out assuming everything was fine... but... Google charged me $100. I returned to the store to ask why this occurred. The wild card here is that, because I purchased this when the phone first came out, Google gave me a set of Pixel A earbuds, value $100 for free. That promotion wasn't available anymore though, so I was charged $100. Essentially, this makes sense right. Google doesn't want someone to buy a phone for the free earbuds and then return the phone and keep the earbuds. But That's not what happened here. It's not my fault that I had to return my phone; the mic issue was a manufacturer defect. It's not my fault that it was processed as a return and not an exchange; that was a Google employee choice. And I in the same hour of returning the phone, bought another. At no time did I benefit, nor seek to benefit from this. The employee admitted fault and said that although he could not give refund my credit card in-store, that someone from google would call me the next day around 11am. I watched him push a bunch of buttons on a screen. I now am not sure that this wasn't just a scam to help the employee, and/or the store, at my expense. I don't wanna think that's true, but it could be the case and it sucks. I've been in the Google environment forever and use Google products if possible every chance I get. It sucks that things ended up this way. Def beware when you go into this store. Again, I hope this was just a mistake, but it's def a possibility that this was completely intentional. Either way, I'm out $100 and have lost a lot of faith in Google. read more

It was time for a new phone. I went to the Google store because I'm tired of phone companies trying to corner me into a service plan instead of selling me what I want. Daniel met me as I came in, offered assistance, and asked a few questions about what I wanted. He matched me to the right phone, told me about it as he assisted with data transfer from my old phone, and was generally a delight to work with. So many stores unnecessarily make purchasing a phone into an unpleasant ordeal, and I'm glad to say this was not at all my experience today. They WILL NOT change the future due date, to help fit your budgeting practice like other cellphone companies do and if you make a late payment you are charged a whopping $107 plus you regular plan and phone payments. Let me start this off with saying I'm a big pixel fan and always try to convert people that have Samsungs and iPhones. But after this customer service experience I had at their store in Chelsea I'm never going to get a pixel again. I order the phone online. Go to the location to pick it up. Give them my confirmation number &the employee working there tells me nope it's not in the system. I ask him what we can do. She says you can just sit here for hour and two until it pops up into the system. Doesn't try to figure out a solution. I show her another email that says it is ready for pickup. She gets me the phone and I ask her you're not charging me again are you? Use their free Wi-Fi to try to activate the phone, . Wi-Fi has no connectivity at the Google store. Why would it? Do not buy a Google Pixel here if you have Google Fi as your service provider. Buyer beware! I purchased a new Google Pixel 6 Pro in this store in December 2021. I bought the $199 Device Protection plan with it after the associate told me that it covered theft and lost. Unfortunately, in January 2022, I lost my phone and went to the physical Google Store the same day. The store assured me that theft and lost was covered under my Google Store purchased Device Protection Plan but I would have to file a claim through Assurant. I filed the claim in the store, with the help of the Google Store staff. The claim was denied the next day by Assurant after they claimed lost and stolen was not covered. I reached out to Assurant, who sent me to Google Store helpline, who sent me to Google Fi helpline, who sent me back to Assurant helpline. I did that dance for 5 hours. A week later the replacement/refund still has not been resolved (or any closer). The Device Protection provided by Google Store vs Google Fi are not the same thing. The staff at this Google Store didn't know (or multiple times mis-conveyed) what coverage the policy they sell includes. Very disappointed. read more

I want to add, this has nothing to do with the actual store location, but the Google Store in its entirety. I made a fairly large purchase back in November, and I had done my research and I thought going with the Google Nest bundle was the best fit for what me and my family were looking for. Well I received my package that I had ordered online fairly quickly. I noticed there was an item missing and I just assumed this was a split ship and not a missing item. Well this was not the case, the item was legitimately missing. I reached out today to find out that they are not sending a replacement nor are they reimbursing me. The item left out was about $230.00. Now I don't know about anyone else, but when buying a new home, I do not have the $230.00 to just throw around. This is definitely a form of theft and this was a mistake they made and they are using the excuse I placed the order in November and waited to long to contact them. We just came back from our first visit to New York City - we loved it and more importantly we learned a lot. The many New Yorkers we inevitably rubbed shoulders with taught us (Canadians) that being "nice" isn't as important as being mindful and responsive to the strangers around you. So here is what I want to say to all of the staff we encountered on the floor at the Google Store yesterday morning, May 31, 2024 - unlike the rest of your sponsoring company, you are indeed in retail where being "nice" does make a difference. The Google Store was the worst retail encounter of my rather long life. To keep it constructive I'll leave it at that and offer a suggestion. It seems that your corporate culture has very little grasp of how you treat people who aren't in one way or another a part of your elite group. My suggestion is - go for coffee - there is a Starbucks right across the street. We took in a great deal of what they had to offer, mostly because they knew how to treat an active potential customer. They seemed happy with eachother and interested in including us in what they were about. Please give them your next break and let them show you something important. This store is the absolute worst customer experience (multiple visits and multiple bad experiences) i have ever had in my entire life. The staff are rude, they will lie, and do anything to prevent customers from being helped and served. Today i was flat out lied to by a person claiming to be a store manager repeatadly. I had a legitimate warranty issue and the store refused to swap my phone which i had arranged with google support. They refused to look up my case and told me it was against store policy to swap the phone as i was promised. They instead offered me a 2-5 hour repair. I asked to speak to a manager and was repeatedly refused by the person i was told was in charge. After being threatened by the store employees and being told i would in no way get what i was promised from them, i went to the google store in Brooklyn. Upon arrival i showed the manager my case number and 15 mins later i had a replacement phone for free. No hassle, no lies, and no arguments, a complete opposite experience. I told them my experiences at the chelsea store they told me this was common unfortunately and that many others have complained with similar experiences from that location. The store manager told me they had heard of countless people with my experience and the reason this was allowed to continue was "above his pay grade". Do yourself a favor and avoid the Chelsea location AT ALL COST. These people are NUTS and do not care at all about their customers. They care more about being right (even if they are wrong) a whole lot more then ever helping a customer in need. read more

Don't try ordering online for "store pickup". Unlike every other online retailer, Google let's you order something online for "store pickup" without letting you know it's not in stock. You won't find out by email either. And you can't call the store because they don't have a phone number (despite, you know, MAKING phones). So you stop by, and THAT's when you find out your item is out of stock, with no ETA. You will eventually get *one* email saying your item has arrived, which Gmail will put in your "updates" folder even though you starred the one and only other message you ever got about this order. Then you will get another one 5 days later - also in "updates" - letting you know your order was cancelled. Then you'll go back to the store *the next day*, where they'll honor the original price but insist on taking your trade-in phone on the spot (making a return a LOT more complicated). Ordering online is the only way to do a trade-in by mail, but *their* customer service will *not* honor the original price. The only good thing about this store is that it's a block away from the Apple Store, where they prioritize customer service and understand complex retail concepts like "store pickup". I don't want a Pixel enough to have to endure this customer experience. read more
