The food here is pretty good! My friends and I ate here all 3 days during our OC vacay. I had the heart attack bagel and Mamas breakfast special with pancakes and french toast. All great. The service is good too. However, they we're very short staffed. Two people quit right before we ordered our food on the first day so when they got super busy service was slow but other than that its pretty good and I had dirty silverware on my second visit but other than that everything was good. read more

Great french toast and a good omelet. The toast was a nice color, crisp and hot. I did not like the mushy home fries. So far have only tried breakfasts. Service was friendly and prompt. My wife asked that her french toast not get their regular cinnamon sprinkle. She is allergic to it. The cook came out and asked her how she liked the french toast and told her to never fear to make special requests like that and that anything freshly made can be adjusted. read more

"Where the locals eat"... the locals can keep it. Dining area very cramped - not suitable for people with mobility issues. Waitress was invisible, over a 10 minute wait just to talk to her. And we weren't the only table with that issue. Food was good - which is what saves this rating from being lower. Wife and I each had a breakfast platter, no issues with either order. Right out front it says it's "the best breakfast in town" and Goolee's delivers. Breakfast platters reasonably priced with large portions. And their pancakes are delicious! One street over from the boardwalk with indoor or outdoor seating. Yum yum yum. We will be back on our next trip! read more

Too bad I couldn't try the food here. I went with my family of 10. After waiting 15 min, another family of 14 came in. Our table was given to them and we were left to wait. They tried to squeeze us into a corner, but we choose to leave and go to Sammy's. The food was good there and it was MUCH cooler! I was looking for a place that served breakfast past 11am so I could order an omelet for lunch. They made me a bacon, feta, spinach omelette and offered a healthier "sliced tomatoes" alternative to home fries. The food was delicious and the owner came out to say hello- a nice touch! read more

We went here because of a review that said it was a very cheap place to eat. I should have paid attention to the age of the post. The two of us each had eggs, hash browns and coffee. When my bill came to just under twenty bucks I thought I was seeing things. Not only is this place insanely expensive for breakfast, they charge a buck more if you don't have white bread with your meal. We substituted biscuits and a bagel, but were never told there was an up charge. I thought that was a little underhanded. It didn't say anything on the menu either. So I passed along the up charge to the waitress who suggested the subs without informing us of the extra charge. read more

We're Rehoboth regulars for the past few years. Love all the fancy restaurants and such, but a nice, quick diner style breakfast was something that was missing. My hubby found this place by accident on a morning walk, and texted me to join him. The staff was super duper friendly and the food was tasty and had huge portions. Went to breakfast here the past two weekends. What stood out were the delicious home fries - there was some type of herb mixed in that really set them apart from others we've tried. They also have breakfast drinks after 9am including Bloody Marys (generous size) and Mimosas for $5.95. read more

Went here for breakfast on 8/19/14 after reading positive reviews. Waitress was slow and got both the drink order wrong as well as the breakfast order. Breakfast platter (scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries, toast) was average at best and overpriced for the portion. Ordered a breakfast sandwich to go and was told it would be 10 minutes. 10 minutes later, the waitress asked if we wanted to take a walk and come back, because the cook "was confused and stressed out because everyone came in and ordered at once." This place seats about 30 people max and only about 15 are presently here, so not sure why there's confusion. I wouldn't come back after spending $38 for 3 people for average food and incompetent service. read more

Boast's 'Best Breakfast in OC' on the sign outside. While this remains to be seen this is a nice out of the way place for breakfast or sandwiches. The decor is very beachy replete with the tiki style lights all over the place and also some greek orthodox icons mixed in. They offer indoor and patio dining. My visit marked this small family owned and operated shop's 4th season in OC and with it's location it should be safe to say they'll do well. Aside from the Greek flair (owned by Greeks) there isn't anything terribly remarkable about the food. 'Goolee' is the nickname of the son of the Father, Mother, Son trio that runs the restaurant and the Sunday we were there he and Mom were working hard at their trade. I had the 'Granny's Breakfast'; Gyro meat & 2 eggs (I ordered 3) 'just like my granny used to make' - served with home fries and toast ($8.25 + $1.25 for the extra egg). Eggs ordered over light and they were perfectly done (if you're familiar with my breakfast reviews my eggs being done right is imperative to a positive review - screw up my eggs and you might as well close your doors). My GF had a standard egg & bacon platter which was also done just right. Now this I believe was the first time I had eggs paired with Gyro meat and it wasn't all that interesting - my Gyro meat had a couple bites of tiny bones in it (which isn't unusual) - I would have liked it to be much crispier than it was. For breakfast they offer several sandwiches, about a dozen platters including pancake and french toast options, and about a dozen omelete options including the 'Goolee's' Omelet; Bacon, mushroom, green pepper, tomato, onion, and provolone cheese. Goolee's claims to serve dinner however the menu covers only sandwiches and a few appetizers which will serve as dinner but it's more like late lunch. They do have a liquor license and have beer / wine cooler offerings. All in all there was nothing wrong with this place but it isn't something I'd pursue intentionally - we went there because everywhere else we tried was too crowded and as it got closer to the time we were heading to church both the restaurant and a parking place made themselves available; both near the church service we were attending. Besides, as D. Food Snob, PhD I'm duty bound to try new places. The only negative I have to offer is that it wasn't terribly busy and once we submitted our check for payment we had to ask for it back as it appeared they'd forgotten about it. read more

Omg. I don't know what everyone is talking about because this is the worst breakfast I have ever had. McDonald's is better. Ok, so I'll be specific so you don't think I'm just mean. My daughters omelette was ok (mushroom), but her home fries were little rocks of over-fried potatoes. My bfs gravy and biscuits were disgusting, it had a wierd taste and I couldn't eat more than a bite. And believe me, I can eat almost anything. This was inedible. My French toast was ok, my bfs are better and it's not like he does anything super special. It's like they just barely dipped the cheap bread that supposedly is Texas toast in batter and threw it on the grill. Thank goodness syrup makes everything taste better. I was told that the scrapple was great, I never had it so I tried it. Absolutely disgusting 1/4 inch thick hard as a rock piece of greasy fried crap. Do NOT get scrapple. I ordered scrambled eggs with cheese. Terrible. It was like they threw 2 eggs on the griddle, stirred it a few times with a fork directly on the griddle, forgot the cheese, and threw it on the plate. Scrambled eggs are supposed to be pre stirred and come out yellow and fluffy. These were fried egg whites marbled with yolk. Unbelievably half-assed. I also asked if they would be willing to make one of my 4 French toasts using their coconut batter and the cook apparently was a dick about that. So, fine, if you don't want to do a little extra for your customer, at least prestir your freaking scrambled eggs. How hard is it to dip one piece of toast in your coconut batter anyway?! The plate of inedible biscuits and gravy, half assed mamma's platter, and mediocre mushroom omelette cost $37!!! I could have gotten McDonald's egg mcmuffins at $1.50 a shot and been a thousand times happier. If you go here, send back everything that sucks and try to get what you pay for. We didn't want to bother, so I ended up eating white toast with cheap butter and gas station generic jelly. Terrible way to end a nice weekend at the beach :( I will say that the table next to us got the pancakes and ham and over easy eggs- looked good - I guess I was unlucky enough to order everything the cook Does NOT know how to cook. If you like tasters choice coffee you'll likely love this place. For those that have a slightly higher expectation of coffee you will be disappointed. This place is a greasy spoon with average food but unlike many others they do have a good selection of healthy options. There are better options at Rehoboth beach especially if you are willing to walk a little farther away. read more

Great spot for breakfast -- that's all they do. Closes at 1pm. We had the eggs with a side of Gyro meat. Great combo. Also recommend the potatoes. Only issue was the air conditioner vent needs a good dusting. read more

Potatoes are always luke warm to cold . Been there a few times. The potatoes are like 2 days old and reheated. If you to the left as you're being seated you can see them sitting in a big stainless steel pot. They re heat them as they go. Only eat there when the other diners are over whelmed. read more

Hubby and I stopped in Goolees Grill for breakfast yesterday morning before heading to the beach and was pleasantly surprised to be seated immediately. I had a bad feeling pretty much right away when I realized that the tables in the corner are arranged so that in order for the patrons at the corner table to get in and out whoever is sitting on that side of our table would have to get up and it wasn't long before the non-stop disruptions started. The table in the corner had 4 adults, a baby and a small child who clearly had wayyyyy too much sugar that morning because she couldn't sit still, jumping back and forth under the table between her dad and mom and not long after her meltdown started and escalated into a full blown tantrum. Eventually her dad, (who of course needed my husband to keep getting up and down so he could get out of his side of the table) took her outside when her screaming got to him but they eventually came back in after rewarding her bad behavior with Oreos and we hoped at that point we could enjoy our breakfast. I ordered the Papa's Special which is eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 breakfast meats and home fries but when it arrived instead of the sausage I had ordered I got bacon and there were no home fries, the meal was good but nothing special, although I always appreciate a restaurant that uses fresh eggs and not powdered so that was a plus. I didn't mention the issues to the waitress because by that point the little girl was winding back up for round 2 and I just wanted to eat and get out of there. The coffee was just okay and hubby enjoyed his Western Omelette although said there was nothing remarkable about it. The Chef, who I assume is also the owner, did stop by the tables to see if every one's meal was okay which is a nice touch but by that point I was done and really read to get out of there so I didn't mention the mistake with my meal. I've worked in the hospitality business so I understand that you have to rotate seating with the different servers but in such a small, and I mean small, dining area there is no reason to pile customers up in one area, when there is such a seating issue that ultimately causes disturbances to the diner, especially when there are so many other empty tables available. read more
