At least the bare trees allow views of the surrounding lake which are mostly obscured in the summer. Starting in 2022 the Bear Trace courses are now collecting sales tax on greens fees which results in a price increase of almost 10% over the previous rates.

The Keep has no grass and takes 5 hours to get around. The other course is gimmick golf and took 6 + hours. No rangers to speak things up. Staff are either quite nice or absolutely checked out. Service and communication are terrible. One guy in the group bought a shirt, realized it was the wrong size and refused to let him exchange. Take your money elsewhere. Any positive review must simply not know what else is available in the marketplace.

The teetime reservation system is the worst I've ever seen. It is online only and open only a couple times per year. The customer service is even worse than that! I made a $40 reservation on a teetime for a week ago when it was raining, so I called the clubhouse to see about a rain check. I called four times and never got a hold of anyone in the pro shop, and never received a callback from anyone either. I emailed the pro shop as well and again had no response to my email either. So, I'm out $40 now and never even got to change my teetime. I will say it is very disappointing to have this type of customer service from any business. We will not be going back. This is a well maintained and beautiful course atop Monteagle. Greens and fairways are in great…read moreshape for winter and they've cleaned up all the fallen leaves. It's a 9 hole course but uses two sets of tee boxes to allow for an 18 hole experience. It's not a flat course and the greens have a fair amount of undulation. Several holes have stunning back drops of the surrounding mountain and valleys. They do have one problem, they have not trained the deer to rake the fairway bunkers yet but they said they'd work on that.
