These guys are organized criminals, I filed complaints against them with MDOS, but the State found that they did not break the law? They lied to me about my brake lights not working, got them on audio recording stating that none of my brake lights worked, and then went up to the shop wasting my gas money to check the brake lights, and the mechanics at the shop confirmed that they did in fact work. They lied to my fiancé telling her that they would have to get under the engine to replace the rack and pinion for my Ford Flex 2011. I am bringing a lawsuit against them soon in small claims court, we can start a class action lawsuit together against them and the state of Michigan for negligence, failure to enforce the law, and failure to punish organized criminals. Just to be clear, they broke many other laws, violated numerous consumer rights and lied to us on several occasions to get more money out of us, they even told me that they charge $150/hour and told my warranty company they charge $100/hour. Jay was the guy who looked at my vehicle, and he lied to MDOS, MDOS believed him although I had evidence like video and audio recordings of their deceptive practices. Never come here. read more

Over a year ago I was told I needed a new Clutch 'it goes to the floor' and Transmission for over 7 thousand dollars, after holding it for 5 days, I told them no, flush the engine and I'll pick it up in 3 hours. Horrible customer service!!! I went here to get some front end work done and this is how my seat was when I picked it up. The panel was NOT hanging like this when I dropped it off. I got no apologies. Only accusations. They claim its not their fault even though they said the guy probably caught it getting out of the car. They said one of the clips must have been broken beforehand because there was dirt,dust inside, which may be true...but it wasn't hanging off....now it is!! I've had this vehicle for 7 years...never noticed a problem with this panel. Now its hanging. I asked the guy "This is how you treat your customers?" And he said "look at everything we did for you!" Meaning the front end work they did. I PAID for them to do that work!!! Its not like it was a favor! I got sick of the owner talking down to me telling me they're not responsible for it so I grabbed my keys and as I was walking out, he held up some money and said "ma'am, I was going to give you this so you could get it fixed, but oh well" as he was smirking at me. Greedies Garage, Money Grab, Horrible customer service....Dropped the car off Friday morning, called around 9:00 and told Jay that the vehicle was stalling when stopped and that a recent scan of the on board diagnostics indicated that the thermostat needed to be replaced. He said we'll take a look at it. When I went to pick it up I was charged $99.99 for a diagnostic fee, for what? They couldn't find anything wrong with the stalling issue and I all ready told Jay about the thermostat. So please explain the $99.99 diagnostic charge. The only thing more intimidating about dealing with pushy car salesmen is taking your car to a mechanic -- from routine oil change to major mechanical problems. Needless to say, TRUST is a BIG thing! When a colleague quit his job because he had an offer to work for Gordie's Garage, it was a bittersweet since, through the course of working together for less than a year, he became a really good friend and my "got to" guy at work BUT at the same time, I gained a mechanic shop that I can go to WITH PEACE OF MIND! Two weeks after he started work here, I went in for an oil change appointment. It was very reasonable. While I was waiting for my oil change to get done, I've met and chatted with Gordie's son. Good guy. As I was leaving, though it was good chatting with him, he made a sincere statement that he'd rather NOT SEE ME BACK unless it is just for routine oil change and car maintenance -- now THAT'S something you don't hear from a mechanic quite often. My Son went to Gordie's to have his car serviced and they treated him like crap, He is 18, My Son is very respectful and pretty shy, the worker named Keith was very rude to him and was belittling him. He came home and told me he will never go there again, A month Later one of my friends asked me where she could take her car in for service, I suggested her to go to Gordie's cause it was close to her house, She came back and told me the Guy was very rude, I can almost guess it was Keith, He told her if she couldn't afford their prices she could go somewhere else. My Husband went in there to get some work done and Keith was very rude to him,, I was with him, and I wanted to say something to the rude son of a B**** but I didn't want to make my Husband feel bad, cause he had a brain injury 4 yrs ago and he still struggles with anxiety, so he was talking really fast. I have received a lot of repair work through Gordies garage and I've always been very satisfied. But recently I had a repair done to my daughter's vehicle and I found them to be incredibly expensive. After talking to a few other people regarding the repair that I had had done I found out that I was actually charged double what most places would have charged me. The hourly rate I was charge was more than a dealership I have worked with him the past. I was also charged for two hours worth of Labor that other shop said should never take more than one hour for this type of repair. I'm very disappointed as I have spoken well about Gordies garage to several people and I know people have taken their vehicles there for service on my recommendation. read more

I can't say Gordie's is a bad place but my experience was not positive. When I arrived to pick up my car after not being able to afford service, I was surprised by the high diagnostic fee. Ok, so it's technically my fault. But I was honest with the guy I spoke with and said that this was not VERBALLY made clear. His reply to me was an insulting one "Are you in the habit of signing things you don't read?" Really, had to go there? I found it condescending. Then he asked the guy who did my paperwork if he "told me" verbally. The guy of course said yes. But my daughter who was there with me on both occasions backed up my claim that he DID NOT verbally tell me. He simply said "sign here saying you authorize us to diagnose your vehicle." So not noticing the charge on the bottom right of the page, I signed and assumed it would be around $60 or so like just about every other garage I've been to. But over $100? Come 'on. I did not ask them to inspect the WHOLE vehicle and I would not have left it for that price. I asked them to diagnose ONE THING, not spend an hour going over the whole car. I was upset and the smart mouthed response didn't help. But what could I say? Yeah I didn't notice the fee. My bad. Integrity however would have been nice. They could have admitted the verbal error and took mine and my daughter's word for it. And I did feel like it was purposeful after hearing the guy lie to his co-worker about it. I was not impressed or happy with the customer service. They could have: 1. Reduced the price to make me happy. 2. Price matched and did the work for cheaper. 3. Apologized. NONE of these happened. Instead I left feel insulted and treated rather rudely. Again, it's ultimately my fault. At my age I should know better than to trustingly sign anything. I acknowledge that. But I don't think it was handled correctly or kindly. There was a time when the customer was always right and shops would bend over backward to make the customer feel validated and accommodated. Those days appear to be gone as this shop offered NOTHING to make the situation right other than to point out that it was apparently my fault. In contrast, the shop that ended up doing the work was up front about ALL costs and verbally stated that the diagnostic fee was included in the price and actually didn't end up charging me one. Further, they did the work to my satisfaction for more than $200 less than Gordie's would have. Just a note to Gordie's...if you had been more polite and apologetic and maybe tried to meet me even half way with the price since I had another quote, I'd have left it with you...or if you had dropped the diagnostic fee in an effort to make things right, I would likely have left it with you. It's sad to me that you did nothing but state "I don't want you to go away mad". That was not helpful because it wasn't backed up with ANY offer to make things better...just a snide question about signing the paper. Consider me a lost potential customer. Now, from what I can see here on Yelp I expect Gordie's to reply here that they "tried to make it right" or "reach out", or even just blame me... yada yada. So Yelpers it's up to you if you want to believe me or not. I am an honest person and every word of this is the truth. I can't say they do bad work because they didn't work on my vehicle. But be aware that they do an overall inspection and expect you to pay for it. And from what I could see with this particular job, they aren't the cheapest. That's fine, they can charge what they want and that in itself doesn't make them bad, but some of us are on a tight budget and can't afford these prices. And be sure to ask about the fees and don't be foolish like I was and just sign without reading every single word on the form. read more

I drive a late model Subaru. Since I can't get to the dealership I have used this place twice for oil changes and general maintenance. I was happy both times. The second time I mentioned that I was leaving on a road trip that afternoon. They called me and told me I needed to go to a tire place before I went anywhere, since there was a nail in my tire and it was in a spot that couldn't be repaired. I am glad they checked everything. I drive a 2006 Grand Caravan. A vehicle that I acquired after my grandfather passed away. He was not so great at car maintenance, so I didn't know what I was getting myself into with this van, but i needed a car on the fly so I took the chance. I should have known this thing would cause nothing but problems when, as soon as i got it home, someone sideswiped it in the street. It wasn't too damaging, but an omen nonetheless. I recently moved to Roseville from Clawson and didn't know a whole lot about the area. When my trusty rusty van decided to spill some fluids all over my new driveway and begin making some weird noise the other day, I was really freaking out-not knowing where to go or who to trust around here. Then I remembered a flyer I got in the mail for place very close to my home (and work) -Gordies Garage! I decided to give it a shot. I knew i would be happy the moment I called and spoke to Aaron. He was so nice on the phone (working in administration for customer service - I look for these things). I dropped my van off after work that day (and was told my van would be pulled into the garage and nothing sits out overnight, which is nice). The next morning, around 9 something - they called with the diagnosis! That was quick and way cheaper than I expected it to be!! They were honest and up front about everything. I told them to go for it. A couple hours later, my car was ready. I was pleasantly surprised. The last time my car was in a shop - it took over a week. The day after I got my car back from the shop (which would be today) I started hearing this god awful sound when I was making right turns. I thought "oh great, what now!? why couldn't this happen when my car was already there!". I knew it wasn't something bad, more like something rubbing against the wheel somewhere but I, personally, couldn't see anything. I called and reached Aaron again who kindly told me just to bring it on up on my lunch or after work before 6, and he would take a look and drive it. I went on my lunch at Noon, at 12:15 i was back at work with the problem fixed - no charge or anything - just helping me out. (apparently, from an area my car had been hit, the plastic in the wheel well was rubbing against the tire - something or other. I don't pretend to know what I'm talking about when it comes to cars.) Gordies has gained a customer for life for their kindness, quickness, the nice atmosphere and clear cleanliness of the garage. I can tell the employees really care about their work and their customers. As someone who is completely unbiased - I cant believe Gordies would EVER get a bad review. I went here for a basic tuneup didn't need it according to their diagnostic test just spark plugs. The test showed my fuel injectors needed to be cleaned so, I said ok. after picking the car up drive it for a day take it back because I smell fuel coming thru my vents he tells me to sign this paper I said for what, he said because we have to diagnose it and if we didn't cause the problem you are responsible to pay the diagnosis that is $106 I just said I don't think so and I just paid all most $500 for fuel injectors to be cleaned and 4 spark plugs. I refused to so now I am driving around and the inside of my car smells like fuel. The front count service was ok I just think the mechanic is not very careful or good at all. I would avoid this place like the plague. My family has been going here for years upon years and suggested it to me so I decided to give it a try. My car had a simple issue the first time I took it in. My car has been in to them 4 times since June with a new problem that forced my car not to be drivable. Second from last time I took it in they told me I was going to have to replace my battery because it was completely dead and tried to charge me for a new one due to an alternator failure and replacement and my battery was fine when I got it tested. Since I got the alternator fixed my car was making a high pitched sound and the belt snapped. Took it in, mind you it was less than a month after the alternator was replaced and I have paid to have my car checked out on 3 separate occasions. Now the power steering pump is cracked, rack and pinion cracked, pulley cracked, metal shavings in the power steering fluid...1500 fix. I had to call and find out what was wrong with my car because no matter how many times I told them to contact me they always contacted my father. I had to tell them that I pay for my car not my father so I needed to be contacted...again..When I asked Keith with as many times as my car has been in how was this not foreseen before it actually destroyed the car. Was told that the only thing they could have seen was the power steering fluid with metal shavings but would not have checked anything else because the problem with my car "wasn't common" and couldnt explain why even only being able to see the fluid why it wasnt checked. Went to pick up my car because I certainly wasn't dealing with them anymore. Told them at the counter I refused to let them work on it because I had brought it in 3 times before and I was done with them. Just got an "okay" and he left to go do the paperwork. I came in yesterday asking for an oil change, heater repair and to have a fuel leak patched up in the nozzle hose. They had a waiting list so I had to wait until today to have it looked at, which was no big deal. I got a call from one of their techs(Joe) today stating that they couldn't work on my truck because it has a rusted out coil spring mount. I asked Joe what was wrong with the heater and where the fuel leak was, since I was going to have to do the repairs myself, and he had no idea and stated that he hadn't done the diagnostics yet. I stopped in to pick my truck up and, I kid you not, I was charged for the $85.00 in diagnostic fees that he had done AFTER he told me that they refused to work on my truck. They could do this but not the services that I had asked for, to include something as simple as an oil change. I can't believe this shop is even in business with that kind of service. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. There are so many other reputable places in the area that will be straight with you. If you, for whatever reason, find yourself in a situation where you have to use this shop you should be sure before hand that you are not working with Joe. read more

It was by far the best experiences I have had with getting work done on our work truck. They did not provide the customer with a written estimate, or offer any estimate at all. The mechanic working on the car had trouble with the job due to what was later determined as inexperience because "it was a lot more involved than we thought". The shop never informed the customer that it was going to take a lot longer to complete the job and ultimately raised the price of labor. The shop then passed that cost of inexperience onto the customer charging 4 times as much than what was quoted at other service centers. The entire experience and transaction with this shop was completely dishonest. Not only were the actions from this business unethical, but they were illegal as well. Last month was our first time at Gordie's Garage. Our AAA tow took our vehicle there because they are a contracted garage. My husband was the one who was there, but he brought home some impressive paperwork with pictures of what our car looked like and pictures to compare to what it should look like. I have never seen a garage show us pictures before. I really appreciated that the workers took the time to do that. Also, we were supposed to get a AAA discount and the person that cashed us out forgot to apply the discount. No worries, he offered to send us a check. The check did not come so my husband called the garage. They apologized for the mistake and said the check was on the way. I assumed in the mail. No, they actually drove to our house to give it to us. NOW THAT'S SERVICE!!! Gordie's Garage goes above and beyond. We will be taking our vehicles to Gordie's Garage from now on. I went to Gordie 's garage since the mid 1980's up to the early or mid 1990's and I quit going. Back then when I went there they worked on my cars and I had very good luck with the owner the old man Gordie for sure and or his workers always did a great job on fixing or doing maintenance on my cars. Back then I was always was lucky on the owner Gordie working on my car or he always made sure I had great service and made sure I was always a satisfied customer. I do remember he was very fair on charging prices for me to. When he said a price or a problem that is what it exactly was to. No problems at that time. He was the best. Then this old man Gordie had retired or semi retired and guess that is when the other family members took over that place from what they told me last time I was there many years ago. They did a job for me, I cannot remember what job they did with my car cause it was so long ago and I just remember I was not very pleased with the work or service they did last time I was there, since the other family members took over the place. From reading these reviews I see many people are satisfied and others are not. For the satisfied people maybe they straighten out their act since last time I've been there many years ago and maybe I will try them again. Be honest if you never been there before you might like them and they might be worth a try.
