I went to Broadway plaza today on a hunt to find a nice gift for my cousin ahead of her birthday lunch and came across Gorjana. I knew about this place as a friend gifted me a pair of earrings & a necklace from here on my birthday (which I wear everyday and was hoping I could gift my cousin a staple jewelry piece from here as well). When I entered, I was kindly greeted by two young ladies and was very casual and clear about what I was looking for. Jasmine helped me look at the popular gifts that fit with my budget and was quick to answer any questions I had along with pointing me to different pieces that my cousin may like. We went with a necklace & an initial with a heart which was super cute and the price was not bad at all. I was worried at the thought of my cousin not loving the gift, but Jasmine reassured me that we can get her a gift certificate which eased my nerves and helped me follow through without overthinking the transaction. As soon as my friend and I walked into the store, two employees looked us up and down with pure judgment. When I asked a simple question, the response was filled with attitude and a standoffish vibe. Their behavior specifically how they constantly stared us up and down both times we entered the establishment made us feel like we were being racially profiled and did not belong. While we ultimately purchased matching bracelets, the experience left us feeling highly uncomfortable and profiled. I highly recommend never judging anyone by their looks, because that is entirely unacceptable. I will not be recommending others to shop here. read more

Visited this location to purchase the gorjana x Breast Cancer Research Foundation collection. The other employees there were great but the one lady that I asked for help made my shopping experience uncomfortable. She was rude and clearly did not want to be there. Came here to check this place out after receiving a gold chain necklace for Christmas. I wanted to get some matching ear rings and checked out their website online. I was interested in getting the huggies. They only allow 7 people in at a time and there is hand sanitizer upon entering. Very chic store and you're allowed to touch and take a look at things. The worker gave me a new set of ear rings after I told her which ones I wanted. Luckily I tried them on and switched out the ear rings I wore before I left because one of them didn't lock properly. It's such a cute and chic store, before the pandemic they would have launch parties for new jewelry. I loved the style inside and it was very inviting. Such an awful experience. First of all, I am a woman of color. I am a black woman at that. When I first walked in there was a group of employees + their friends talking. There was one employee of color (Asian if I had to assume). One of the employees (assuming it was the manager) immediately looked at the asian employee and told her to help me. Every other employee looked away and disregarded me. They were more into the conversation they were having with each other than helping me. However, when a white customer walked in it was all hands on deck. The asian employee looked DISGUSTED with me. She was upset anytime I asked anything and acted like I was making her do a job she wasn't being paid to do. I was so kind. I smiled. I said thank you. I even apologized after every single question bc I thought it would soften her up. It did not. At one point, I thought I was done shopping so she left to tend to the group of friends + employees. I decided I wanted to add something and AGAIN the manager made her help me out of all the other white employees. At the end of my purchase the asian employee hadn't said a word to me other than "yes" and "no" and was clearly upset. There were two employees (potentially one employee + one of the friends that was there) that ended up talking to my son and I at the very end. But, overall it was awful. I felt so disrespected and left with my feelings hurt. It's a super segregated area as is and this experience made me feel 1,000,000 times worse about it. I immediately left the shopping mall. I am thinking about taking this to social media because it was that awful and people need to know and these employees need to be held accountable. read more

I love jewelry from this store but the workers were so rude and uninviting. I came in about 6 minutes before closing knowing what I wanted and they were so rude to me. I've worked retail before and sure it's annoying sometimes when customers come in right before closing but it's never okay to be rude to them, especially when they're being kind and trying to move quickly. Love! I've always loved dainty jewelry that looks like it will break. And historically my problem with such jewelry is that it eventually breaks. I got a few beautiful necklaces last month and the clasp on one of them gave out. I went into the store expecting to justify myself and instead, the exchange was so easy and seamless. They replaced my entire necklace which is a banging business practice because I immediately turned around and purchased some more pieces. To start off, I have been a loyal customer to Gorjana and have been to several locations including San Diego Westfield UTC which is by far my favorite. I came in on a mid day Saturday a few weeks ago with my friend. I was interested in the Infiniti diamond band and went straight to the fine jewelry glass. As I look up I had yet to have someone help me, and on top of that I caught the high school like employees starring at my friend with an inappropriate stare and no welcome in. I had to bug the workers and only got help once they saw all my Cartier rings. And only making conversation that she had one too, as if I was less or she was more. Overall, the energy was very inappropriate for its location, the workers are very under trained. This is not an area of gossip, this is an area were customers from all over come and want to feel welcomed. Will never be coming back and will never recommend Walnut Creek gorjana. Manager should have undercover to get rid of these "bullies". Very unprofessional. read more

Nice jewelry, but this store's customer experience is lackluster at best and racist at worst. I always have to ask for help, even though I've spent thousands of dollars there. My 13-year-old daughter went in today, and she texted me from the store to tell me how rude they were being to her. For context, we are Black, she was with a Black friend and an Asian friend. She said she had to ask for help, and when she asked the girl to get her the earrings so she could make a purchase, the employee pulled the earring off of the display, handed it to her, and said "here." My daughter wanted to BUY two pairs. She said that two other teenage girls came in while she was trying to get help, and the employee left her and greeted the new girls in a very friendly manner. The girls were not women of color. My daughter left confused and didn't understand why she wouldn't be helped when she wanted to spend money. So tonight's lesson at the dinner table was about racial microaggressions, and we're going to figure out where else to buy our jewelry. Really sad that I've spent so much here. It's 2022. I have gone to Gorjana many times for gifts. I usually have a great experience. My last time going for a gift I had a horrible experience. I got a personalized necklace and the lady who helped me named Sofia with long brown hair was utterly rude. Laughing at me and my friend after asking questions, barely answering our questions and horrible customer service.
