It's on Diversey, a little west of Sheridan. It's delicious! It's casual. It's quiet. It's not crowded yet because it's still a little new. And the food is delicious - spicy, not spicy, in between - you can decide for many dishes. (The menu often states the spice level.) My favorites include: Lamb Buiyriani - a combination of vegetable and rice with chunks of lamb with a wonderful flavor. Add raita for an extra rich tangy flavor. We recently ordered Momos - for the well flavored dipping sauce, Garlic naan with gee and herbs, and salag paneer. They have quite a few online / order-pick up customers but it's very comfortable seating so we prefer eat-in. Service is great with food brought to the table at the right temperature and nicely presented. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. We usually have leftovers to enjoy again at home. Definitely a good Indian option for Downtown. My wife and I eat out a lot. Many of my reviews are negative. This is definitely a positive review. We shared the butter chicken, chicken biryanis, and the goat Nepali khasi plus naan, rice, raiti, and papadoms. Serving size was good for all items. Food delivered hot and fresh, and was well wrapped. Flavors were bold, full of spice, and well cooked. The biryanis was the least favorite, but still ok. I was really excited to see an Indian and Nepalese restaurant open up in Lincoln Park (LP). We hosted a birthday party here this past Saturday and I would host another event here again. We had ten guests and each and every single person in our group said they would come back. Izzy was our host and she was great from letting me come in before to decorate the table, to helping to make sure the group had a great time. She even offered to make things for us that were not on the menu if we wanted something specific. She was extremely easy to work with to host the event. This place is BYOB. We were also allowed to bring in some mini cupcakes to celebrate the birthday girl. It's clean on the inside and it was not loud to where it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Let's dive into the food. I would HIGHLY recommend their steamed chicken momos. We ordered three of these for the group as appetizers and everyone loved them. They were nice and juicy on the inside and tasted extremely fresh with hints of ginger and garlic and the sauce that it comes with tied it all together to make each bite perfect! TRY THE MOMOS! :) We also have tried the spicy fried chicken momos. These are also good but do have a kick to them and I cannot eat as many as the steamed ones. Another one of my favorites is the chicken kukhura (traditional Nepalese chicken curry). The chicken is on the bone but the pieces are small so manageable and some pieces have no bone. The flavor of the curry reminded me of my mum's curry with fresh cilantro and so much flavor. The rest of the table tried the lamb tikka masala, butter chicken, shrimp tikka masala, chicken kadai, and chicken biryani and everyone finished their meals. Their portions can be shared between two people, especially if you share an order of momos as an appetizer. Gorkha is one of my favorite restaurants in LP and I will continue to try new things on the menu. read more

Nepali cuisine is fairly new to where I live, with our first Nepali restaurant only opening a few years ago, so I was excited to give this place a try. I tried the chicken momos, behl, and chicken chow mein. The momos were excellent and easily the best I've tried so far. 5 out of 5. The behl was also very good - one of the better ones I've tried. I liked that while it was flavorful, the flavor wasn't overwhelming (all the dishes I tried had well balanced flavor - which is quite often not the case for south Asian food). 4.5 out of 5. The chicken chow mein was a let down. It didn't really have any taste and there was pretty much no chicken in the dish. Essentially just noodles and a few pieces of vegetables with a slice of lemon. 2.5 out of 5. Finally - and I am not sure if this was the fault of the restaurant or Yelp's delivery service (I'm going to assume the latter) but it was a bit annoying that when the food was dropped off, I didn't receive any notification. Would have been nice to have the option of having plastic utensils too. All in all, a solid option that I would definitely consider trying again. read more

I live in the neighborhood and saw that Gorkha's Kitchen was going into the old Miss Asia storefront, which I used to get takeout from often. I figured I'd give them a shot and I was not disappointed! When I walked in, the aroma of spices and curry hit my senses and I started getting excited for the butter chicken I had ordered for pick-up. I saw a review on Google that the butter chicken was some of the best that reviewer had ever had. Gotta say, it was AWESOME. The flavors were complex and delicious and I had to force myself to stop eating it so I would still be able to experience the deliciousness for lunch today. The restaurant is new and feels a little sparse inside, but don't let that fool you. Very friendly people and fantastic food. I don't have much experience with Nepalese food and we (purposely) flew a little blind, picking things we never had before. Significantly better Indian food than many other options in the neighbourhood. The quality of ingredients is high, the balance of spices is excellent, and it's all well prepared and delicious. The overall spice level is on the milder side for the city, which could be a plus or minus to taste. I can especially recommend the Biryani. Was much better prepared than other options in the neighbourhood, and came with a large portion of yogurt sauce that was much more vibrant than most I've had. Glad to have this delicious new option in the neighborhood. We love Indian food but don't have experience w Nepalese so we ordered some of both tonight to go. The chicken chili fried momo (dumplings) were indeed spicy (in a good way) and really good. They onions in the sauce had a nice hint of cilantro and were a good accompaniment. The Bhatura described as "fluffy deep fried sourdough" type naan was really good and definitely different. From the Indian side, we ordered their chicken tikka masala and it was outstanding. Lots of chicken breast in a very tasty sauce. It was a little different than the tikka masala that we have had at other places but it was creamy, unctuous and we will definitely order again. Last evening we had tornado warning and I had to get some food. I saw this place while walking by and wanted to try it. I ordered paneer tikka masala(which had raw pieces of paneer and thin watered down gravy-its not paneer tikka, vegetable pakora-literally shredded pieces of unrecognizable vegetables and few pieces, garlic naan was ok.
