Me, celebrating my 24th birthday at Gosh Ethiopian!
    Meagan N.

Oh. My. Goodness. Now this was an unforgettable experience! Today is my birthday and Gosh Ethiopian make this day absolutely amazing. I had never tried Ethiopian food before and I was so excited to try the food. The restaurant owners were so wonderful and professional, and they have many vegetarian/vegan foods to choose from! And the way it was made.... Wow! The food was to die for! To add on to the profound dining experience, the owners were so kind to let us stay after hours when we just lost track of time and we're having fun! Very pleased with this restaurant. If you want to try Ethiopian food for the the first time, COME TO THIS RESTAURANT. One more amazing thing to add- I had forgotten my backpack at this restaurant and they were so kind to let me get it back right as they were about to close. So pleased and thankful to have come here for my 24th birthday! Vegetarian Combo

First time eating Ethiopian foods. Can't even explain the melt in your mouth flavors. The Injera bread, with it slight sourness because of the fermentation process, worked perfectly with everything.

Amazing. This restaurant had the nicest staff that told you how to eat the food, and was very attentive the whole dinner, but most importantly the food was Impeccable. The chicken was my favorite but everything on the large plate was amazing. Definitely give it a try!

This is a fun experience. If you have never had Ethiopian, you eat your meal with a spongy flat bread that is slightly sour in taste. The best way to go for a first timer is to get a sample platter so that you can try everything. Food is spiced well and tasty. Not something I would seek out all the time but great for an experience with friends. Service is a little slower because this place is small and it feels like a two man show. But we were fine being patient.

It was not bad, not great either. Right in the middle. Got the combo plate because variety. Liked the red items, yellow not so much as they were kind of plain. The sambbussa were filled with lentils. The lentils were undercooked so the filling was sticking to the cracks in my teeth. I didn't smile the rest of the day after that... do not go before picture day if you don't want to be yelled at by your mom

10/10 This is a nice and small family run restaurant. I have been here multiple times a month it's just quality ingredients every single time. I highly recommend you try this restaurant if you want to try Ethiopian food (if you never have)!

Just awesome. Fantastic server who was so so helpful. The appetizer was so good. The dinner for two with amazing bread was unbelievably fantastic. And ludicrously good coffee. Peace

So, I was perusing Yelp trying to find some food since I just moved to the area. I found 2 spots I was thinking about and texted a friend. She said to come here and said it's an 11/10 stars. Boy was she right! This place is legit. I've had Ethiopian before in a larger city and although it was also delicious this one takes the cake...or the baklava? They also have that, I got some to go, can't wait to have enough room in my stomach to break into that too. I got the combo with 2 meats and 2 veggies I forget the name but it was heaven. Definitely coming back!

    Can you bring wine?

Yes you can bring your own wine. My Ethiopian friend told me he enjoys the wine he brought from home every time he goes.

I found myself in Knoxville for work and the stars aligned; I managed to convince my coworkers to come have lunch here! We found parking in a large lot about two blocks away. It sadly wasn't free but we enjoyed walking around and looking in the shops. The inside of the restaurant was clean, cool, and cute. One wall contains lots of coolers/fridges where they store drink options (shout out to Wiseacre beer!) as well as lots of their tamales, which you can take home to prepare. Staff are happy to provide tips on how this can be done, as one of my coworkers took several tamales home (and her family was pleased with them too!). It seemed like only one person was working. He was extremelyyyy soft spoken and not super friendly, honestly, but our food came out in a timely manner and he wasn't rude or anything. Four of us, myself included, got the chicken tinga tamale, and one person got the classic tamale. I got mine as a meal, which came with rice, black beans, and curtido. I also nabbed a bottled tea. Personally, I didn't love the drink selection -- all a little too bougie/health food-y for me (I'm a simple girl who wants a simple Diet Pepsi or Coke or regular fresh brewed sweet tea) - but no big deal. Everything was quite good! I've been trying to decide if I like tamales or not and this place brought me to the conclusion that yes, I do - I just hadn't had one this good before! The corn was fluffy, the chicken was tender and well-seasoned and plentiful, and the salsa on top rounded it out well. The beans and rice were also very well seasoned and tasty accompaniments. I'd never had curtido (fermented cabbage) before, but I'd say it's a bit brighter than its Korean cousin, kimchi. I liked it but the portion was so large and the flavor so strong that I did ultimately tire of it after 4-5 bites. My coworker took the rest home! Overall, I get the hype around the tamales in particular. If you're craving one, definitely give this place a try!
