We finally stopped by for lunch on a Saturday after reading good things about this place. We got the egg rolls (cha gio) and two traditional banh mi, and my wife got the signature latte. It was a windy day and power cut in and out a few times. Staff were polite and apologized to everybody for the delay. Cha gio were decent but we would have preferred an accompaniment of nuoc cham rather than sweet chili sauce. Banh mi were also okay but I don't usually see a traditional version with ham. My wife enjoyed the latte. Decor is cute and friendly. Probably not our first choice but I'd be willing to try them again and order something else. read more

Really pretty interior - big, spacious, with high ceilings and comfy seating. The vibe makes it a nice place to hang out and chat or study or get some work done. Staff were very kind and welcoming, which added to the overall experience. Food was less good. I was excited to find a croffle in the wild, but it looked really sad. The matcha/chocolate on top was super thick and its sweetness was overpowering. Bao buns were on the dry side as well but still decent flavor-wise. I also got their popcorn chicken, which was similar to the bao buns (dry but with ok flavor). If I come back it'll definitely be for the seating and vibes. Grab your girlfriends and come to Gossip Tea Lounge! I am so glad I found this new cafe in Durham. They have bubble tea, buns, banh mi, pastries and other Vietnamese inspired dishes and treats to order. The staff was so friendly. It took us a while to read through the menu, but they were more than willing to assist with recommendations and explain anything we had questions for. You can also order by tablet/kiosk if you already know what you want. I personally tried their sparkling refresher, and I loved the fizzy taste and fun flavors offered. You can also order milk teas, fresh milks, and fruit teas, but I appreciated that you could get something caffeine free during the evening. All of the drinks come in a generous size. My friends ordered the bahn me and bun which they described as nothing short of tasty. The decor is cool and sophisticated. There are plenty of tables and comfy chairs to sit and enjoy your treats. It feels clean, relaxed and cozy. It's the perfect place to chat or perhaps even gossip a little bit. They are also open late until 8pm, so it's a great place to come after work. "Vietnamese food and bubble tea next door to Duck Donuts!" Came here for lunch on a Sunday-- super cute, bright little place with bubble tea, lunch foods, and LOTS of desserts. You can order either on the tablet by the door or by talking with the hostess. There's not a ton of seating, but there's some, including a few outside tables. I just got the Savory Golden Chicken bahn mi with kimchi added. My other dining partners got the bao buns and some bubble tea. Hostess seemed really friendly and was quick to help with any issues/ questions. Food came out in maybe 8 minutes. All of it was DELICIOUS. I loved the flavor of the chicken, and the bahn mi overall was outstanding. Heaping with meat and toppings, too-- it was a good quantity of food for a good price (under $15 for my dish). Gossip Tea Lounge is relatively new in Durham, and tucked away off of McFarland Drive. Had I not seen an advertisement for this place on social media, I would have never known its existence. A friend of mine and I were in the area and decided to check it out. We both ordered a bubble tea. I ordered a Banh mi, while she ordered what looked like dumplings and a green looking dessert. I had really high hopes for the Banh mi, but what didn't sit right with me was that there was red onion in the Banh mi. I wish I knew this beforehand, otherwise I would have opted out. I do always wonder what the Banh mi would have tasted like without.. since the onion did greatly overpower the Banh mi. Despite that, the Tea Lounge was a nice place to hang out and even play some games. There is a wall of activities to partake in, which makes it inviting for people to want to chill and stay a while. While we were there, there were several people treating it like a coffee shop, with their laptops in full work-from-cafe mode. I like that a lot, because that means the wait staff aren't trying to push you out, instead, it's a place to truly enjoy the company of others, or yourself. Went on a Friday evening and ordered a couple of things to-go. It was a quiet evening and the food was prepared quickly. The staff were all super friendly and welcoming . They do have some seating inside and the aesthetic was bright, modern and clean. I tried the classic Banh Mi which included slices of jambon and ham as well as a slaw that included pickled carrots, cilantro and jalapeños. I was pleasantly surprised by the spice kick from the jalapeños. The flavor of the meat paired with the acidity of the veggie slaw was delicious. The bread was toasted well and all in all great. Portions were on the slightly smaller side. They also had several food options under the "street food" section of their menu including items like spring rolls, dumplings, and popcorn chicken which we did not try. I also ordered the Gossip Milk Tea with brown sugar boba at 50% sweetness. The brown sugar boba ended up being crystal boba, though this was not specified on the menu which threw me off at first sip when I was expecting regular boba. Nice crusty bread on their sizeable banh-mi. I got their recommend honey-glazed pork, which had nice sweet and savory flavors that worked well with the cool pickled veg. I also tried their popcorn chicken. It came out freshly fried, hot and juicy, and with a generous portion. I'd like a stronger flavor from their seasoning shake, but it did also come with a sweet chili sauce. They were still in soft opening when I visited, but it already felt pretty solid. We can't believe we have lived near here over a year and are just trying it. They have tablets that make ordering fast and easy. Cute interior with lots of seating. This was some of the best most refreshing tea I've had in a while. Perfect balance of herbal and fruity sweetness. The chicken was our favorite of the food we tried. Nice to have a quality boba/banh mi spot between Durham and Chapel hill! The inside is fairly large which means you can eat in or grab some boba and work on a laptop. Now onto the boba, as the shops name might suggest the brown sugar boba milk tea was tea forward which I often find difficult to pull off well but they did a great job! Love this place! Great service and cozy yet upscale ambiance. They have fruit tea, milk tea, and a host of entree and dessert options too. They also have really tasty banh mi sandwiches! I was getting my nails done at Soho nail lounge in Durham, North Carolina when the owner was telling everybody about this café, she just opened up next-door. I was super hungry after my workout so I tried it out. The food is excellent very very fresh and the Boba is nice and chewy just like I like it. Kim is the owner and is very personable to the guests. The store is beautiful and spacious inside, with plenty of seating. The owner was also very kind and welcoming. She must be vietnamese because everything on the menu is very authentic. There are lots of fun coffee options, and they are made with a legit vietnamese robusta brew rather than espresso. The vietnamese iced coffee was strong, yet smooth and you can customize the sweetness level. There are also oat and almond milk options! I got oat milk and worried that it would water down the coffee since it's usually made with just condensed milk, but they got the ratio perfect. There are many bubble tea options, though just one milk tea. That's okay because the one milk tea is excellent-- fragrant and well balanced. Again, not diluted with milk. However, there was a lot of ice despite ordering 50%. Next time I will pay $.60 extra for no ice. Finally, they have so many food options for a boba/coffee place that you could have a whole meal here! The banh mi are generous with meat and perfectly balanced with pickled veggies. The bread is properly crunchy and crackly on the outside. A sandwich alone is very filling. There are also lots of snack and dessert options I'm eager to try in the future. A note about music: I would much prefer more subtle and less noisy music. The dance throb was not the kind of sound I wanted indoors. It's not great for conversation, especially for folks who are a bit hard of hearing. Please consider subtler music. No need to hype up the atmosphere. I've been on the lookout for good boba tea, since moving to Durham from the Bay Area 4 years ago. This is the stuff I've been missing! The brown sugar milk tea with tapioca boba is soooo good! I also tried the classic Banh mi sandwich, which was delicious- especially the perfect baguette it was served on. It reminded me of the sandwiches we had at Phuong's in Hoi An, Vietnam. All the banh mi's are good so far (pork belly, grilled pork, regular). Coffee is good, however if you do not like it strong, you may not enjoy it. There is significant variance in the quality of the drinks when I go back, sometimes it is on point, sometimes its quite oversweetened. On average it is very good (4 stars), but it can be a +/- 1.5 stars either way depending on the day (ranging from 2.5 up to 6.5!). They appear to be in a soft opening so hopefully the kinks are worked out soon. read more
