I almost forgot to post a review of this place in my flurry of reviews of places I discovered at the Old Town Warehouse Sale. At the sale, the shop owner had a table full of shirts with different textures and an array of colors. I picked up a blue v-neck that has little raised circles on it (it is hard to explain, I posted a pic). I checked out the store to find arty-inspired items as well as some unique jewelry. Gossypia also has a wide selection of wedding dresses that can be used for an informal or destination type wedding.

Great dress for a great price (before the fitting which made the back sheer netting sit properly)

A great place for brides who don't want the silly "it's your special day" sales pitch and who don't want to spend over $1000. A ton of dresses - all off the rack but they sent me to a great local dressmaker for the adjustments needed to have it fit perfectly - and it was easy to find one that was just right. They like you to book a time so they can have someone there to help and my friends and I went in, I tried on a dozen or so dresses, the sales lady was as honest as my friends about what looked silly and what looked just right, and 45 minutes later I had a new wedding dress for $500. Not that I ever plan on getting married again (!), but I wouldn't hesitate to go here again or to recommend it to anyone lookign to get married without buying into the silly princess drama.

This is the dress I showed them and they had it on the rack

I went here because I read the negative reviews about their wedding dress selection and I'm a glad I did! No, they don't carry thousand dollar dresses or Cinderella ball gowns but they carry a good selection of brand new dresses that are a little more casual. I bought a Mon Cherie Destination dress and when I showed them a photo they said oh, we have that dress! I felt like they could really focus on me because I was the only one up there during my appointment. If you want simple, not overly formal but still beautiful and inexpensive go check them out! They're so nice and really helped me pick my dream dress and gave me great reccomendations for a seamstress to get my alterations done.

Jewelry store with lots of items. Rose is the owner.

The upstairs requires a sales person, but they are always glad to oblige, and the older colors of FLAX are always on sale up there.

She doesn't want people grabbing and ruining her clothes. It's not like some chain store where she can send damaged goods back to corporate. I strolled in a few weeks ago, for the first time, looking for a dress to wear to a wedding. Joelle was all over me, in a good way. She seemed to have a blast pulling dresses that she thought would fit my body well. She was very complimentary when dresses fit nicely and she was straightforward (but never rude) when she thought I could do better. She loves the clothes in her store and sees them as wearable art. If I'm going to spend my money on something like a cocktail dress, I do appreciate a tailored and personalized experience. I felt that Joelle genuinely wanted me to walk out of her store happy and return again. Which I will.

I've been a devoted consignment-store shopper from Dallas to Boston to SoCal. While I found several great shops in Alexandria that day, none checked all the boxes quite like Vida Style did. First off, it has something for every budget and size. There's a $10 rack AND couture items that can cost $400-$1k+. My regular shopping budget is closer to $100, and I've never left here empty handed. The first time I visited, I was on the hunt for a muumuu for a theme party by the same name and had no problem finding the perfect item below my price point. Today, I was on the hunt for "holiday cocktail" wear and found not only a festive, sparkly A-line skirt but also a beautiful DKNY cocktail dress just my size--and walked out having spent LESS than $115 total! The hardest part will be deciding which to wear to this weekend's party. What else sets Vida Style apart is that, unlike other neighborhood shops, there's PLENTY of inventory without sensory overload. Having worked in retail, I like seeing racks that are organized (size and color!) AND easy to peruse in a reasonable amount of time (I mean, if you have a street meter running, you don't want to be in there all day, right?). Other nearby shops might have lovely items, but they're SO crammed on the rack that I just give up porque no vale la pena. Then there's the Vida Style staff. As others have pointed out, they're AMAZING. They treat you like a human being and don't judge if you're just buying a $10 skirt for your cousin's wedding (guilty). They treat you like family and if they give you a compliment, it's genuine. Also, if you can't get there for whatever reason, they have a serious e-commerce presence. They're super active on Instagram, where they showcase new arrivals and rare finds, which is great for folks who love fashion but might not live close enough to just pop in. Lastly, I was pleasantly surprised to find a robust selection of blazers and suit jackets right in the center of the shop. Other stores have reduced their jacket inventory post-pandemic, but not here. Why was I not surprised that TWO attorneys were shopping here at lunchtime today? They really have it all. From shoes to purses to scarves, shirts, sunglasses, jackets, formal wear, and even menswear, Vida Style has it all. I really can't recommended it enough. Please shop local and check them out!

I stumbled across this store yesterday and decided to take a look around since the window sign said nothing over $15. A few things caught my eye as I picked the racks. This store reminds me of an adult Claire's. There are a lot of the same types of things (sweaters, pull overs, shaws, etc) in different colors or patterns. The store was cute, clean and set up well. The prices were nice but the quality isn't there. This is a cute place for a quick accent piece or something fun. A no name jewelry, headband or fuzzy slippers aside from the layering pieces I mentioned above. I did buy two things and the woman at the desk wasn't particularly friendly- nor did she acknowledge me or put her phone down right away when I laid my things on the counter. I don't mind a cellphone, it's the times (mind you I'm 32) but she was older than me and knew better. Unprofessional- so I docked a star. I will return but probably not a regular basis type thing.

It was a beautiful water color looking design in a blush pink with a couple white flowers and the green leaves were a lovely tone. Sometimes you don't find anything, but it is worth it to drop in here and there. It was great for Christmas presents last year. I find the ladies that work there helpful, cheery and accommodating!
