Unbelievably rude. Have never been so disrespected! I will never step foot in this shop again. The entire time I was in the store, this man talked down to me and literally dared me to try on something to prove that I was a certain size and basically told me that I was lying about my size. Also, treated me like I wasn't his type of customer. He had NO idea and basically judged me by what I was wearing,. I have been a long time resident in Alexandria and his store is nothing special. Whether you're a fan of Nancy Pelosi or not, you have to admit that her face mask game is on point. This is where she gets the vibrant fashion accessories. (And they must be effective since they have successfully protected her from all those ignorant deniers on the floor). The boutique must always be inundated with orders because they take long to ship. At the height of its popularity, you weren't even able to choose the design. You placed an order and hoped that you liked what they sent you. It just so happened that I did. I recently returned to see that you are now able to choose the color/pattern. But order fulfillment still is seeming to take a bit. Masks are $22 each with a flat shipping fee of $8. A great clothing store with unique pieces. I walked in early evening on a Friday and was given excellent service and shown different pieces along with some background on the brands they carry. Side note, I was a little worried about walking in after reading some of the reviews but was pleasantly surprised by the great service I received and the pieces I saw. IF I could give NO stars I would. I payed Donna Lewis USA a visit on Sunday, February 6, 2022. This was after doing research of black owned establishments in Alexandria, VA. After walking in I was not greeted by the gentleman nor lady behind the register. I assumed maybe it was because they were assisting another customer and they would get to me after. Unfortunately, this was not the case. After the "customer" who did not purchase anything left the two (who clearly were working there) begin to talk about inventory and not once take the time to see if I needed help with anything. Some of you may not see anything wrong with this but let me let you in on something. That previous "customer" WHITE! Me was a BLACK customer trying to support a business that was "black owned" clearly was not welcomed. I was ignored and never once given any attention. I would see the gentleman look my way but never did he once try to speak to me or even greet me. I walked around that 4x4 store about 5 times to be sure they saw me and not once did either say a word. My issue with this is don't claim you are "Black Owned" and not treat your potential "BLACK" customers as if they do not exist. And I say potential because I had every intention on purchasing something and putting my black dollar back into MY community. Again if they don't want black dollars they shouldn't promote themselves as a black owned establishment. I DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone to go into this place, because, clearly if you look like me you are NOT welcomed! UPDATE: I reached out to Visit Alexandria (a site that mentioned Donna Lewis as blacked owned) to let them know about my experience. In less than 30 minutes I received a response from the CEO and President of the company. The conversation was great and they were nothing but kind to me. I understand Visit Alexandria has nothing to do with the horrible experience I had at Donna Lewis! I still stand by my statement and don't think anyone should visit Donna Lewis because they are NOT for the black community! Not only that but they also don't help the look of Visit Alexandria. I am beyond grateful I could speak with Visit Alexandria's CEO and President. read more

CAT MASK LEFT LACKING. I order 3 Donna Lewis face masks because they always look so wonderful on Nancy Pelosi. Two of the masks were as pictured on the web site but the third - the cat mask - had no cat faces on it. I think for $22 they could have better selected a piece of cloth that more professionally placed the cats. It is a very ugly face mask and not worth the price. There are no refunds. I called the company to complain and the person who answered was very unsympathetic and non-responsive. read more

OK, she'd look good in almost anything but Chris (Mr. Donna Lewis) has a keen eye for style and while some may think his goods a bit pricey, my sweetheart is wearing items she bought seven years ago . . . and looking as stylish as if she stepped out of this month's Vogue magazine. Chris talks about "the vibe" and he knows what it looks like. He also carries several brands exclusively in the US (e.g. Jitrois) and that speaks to his worldwide connections and experience. His boutique is tucked back in a courtyard off Cameron Street and easy to miss . . . don't. If you want to see where the style conscious in NYC and Milan come to shop, visit Donna Lewis. I ordered two face masks. As the last reviewer wrote, the print placement was poor. One was okay, because the design was an abstract print where they couldn't go wrong. My complaint is with the cherries mask, which looked nothing like their photo. They called it "cherries" because, surprise, it had cherries. In their photo, the cherries were front and center and hung in the direction cherries hang. The cherries mask I received had only one set (two cherries), not two sets as shown, and were placed on the far right and were upside down! They must be knocking these masks out so fast that they don't care about placement. But for $22 for one mask not including shipping, placement should have been much better and attention should have been paid to the direction of the cherries so that they were not upside down--if they were going to produce something that failed to look like their photo. I was planning to order more masks from Donna Lewis but found stunning masks on Etsy for less. This was my first order with Donna Lewis and my last. Two stars because the other one was okay. read more

I have been in this store each season for the last year and I can tell you that every piece of fabric is absolutely of the highest quality. The collections are gorgeous and unique. The service experience is above anything I have seen in the area. And it seems that the collections rotate often enough to keep things fresh. The only tough part is finding the place. Wow! Beautiful clothing AND extreme customer service! The best I've seen. Donna is fantastic and at the last minute ordered me a pair of pants for an upcoming trip in two sizes. They arrived in time (four days), but the zipper was broken on the size I needed. Chris had the tailor swap the zipper and hand deliver to my home just in time to go in my suitcase. Wow! read more

A fantastic boutique! Lots of small-label Italian clothes. Mostly for women, but some pieces for men. My wife loves this shop, and it's easy to understand why. Chris, the owner, has a fantastic eye for quality and fit. The clothes are expensive, but the quality is really top notch. And, like with most well-crafted things, the clothes shave pounds off of you because the fit is just so darn good. Excellent selection of professional and casual clothing, and the staff is helpful and friendly. There's no snobbery, even though the clothing is remarkably high end. My favorite clothing store! Chris, the owner, has impeccable taste. He curates his store with only the best clothes and leather goods. His selection of Italian jackets is amazing, and highly collected by women all over the country. Chris wants his clients to look beautiful and insures that all clothes are perfectly tailored. He is also honest about what does and doesn't suit you. The clothes here are expensive, but worth it. They are classic designs that will last for years.
