I am on the PTO at my kids school and we decided to move forward with a shade project we had talked about doing for a few years over the courtyard area between buildings. Derek had his project manager come out within two days to take drone images and get a rendering done so we could see what the completed project would look like. The recommendations he had were so helpful to ensure we had the most shade coverage. Then the trees that would have been in between the sails were trimmed before the job was done and instead of a slight trim they were completely chopped. This totally changed the layout and size that we needed in order to make up for the lost shade that the trees would have provided. He had new drone images done, new renderings and came up with a plan that worked perfectly. The job was done within a week and they are absolutely amazing. When I moved into my house, we had sails up that were pretty, but extremely cheap. We could tell they weren't going to last and, sure enough, they came down in less than a month when the first strong winds picked up. We wanted to match the feel of privacy and shade that the sails had provided, but wanted a solution that was built to last. I talked with several contractors and got different quotes. Although Got Shade was not the cheapest one, I decided to go with them because Derek was extremely helpful in coming up with a design that was better at giving us what we wanted than what we even had in mind originally. I really have to give him credit for his patience and willingness to work with us to come up with different ideas, putting together revised proposals, and even renderings to make sure we were really happy with the design. Once we signed the contract, Eric and his team were out about a week later to install the posts. The posts look really nice and have a powder coating that should prevent any rust for years. The posts themselves are galvanized steel and, unlike our prior sail install, surely won't have any issues in the wind. Eric was great to deal with, answered all our questions, his team was quick, and they cleaned up everything completely after the posts were installed. About two weeks later, the sail had been fabricated and they came out to install it, which took less than an hour. Overall, we are very satisfied with the sail and the entire experience with Got Shade from consultation to design to final completion. It's an investment, but a worthwhile one to know that the posts and sails are going to last and look great for years. read more

Derek and his team did a great job on our trellis cover from start to finish. I originally wanted a slide-wire cover to give us some reprieve from the summer sun, and it took me ages to find someone who could do it. After talking with Derek and having him come out to give us an estimate, however, he convinced me that a trellis cover would be better. The upside: a trellis cover also costs a lot less! When his team initially came out to install it, the cover was too short. To their credit, they stopped work and came back at a later date without us having to insist on it or even mention it. Moved into our home end of April. The backyard was bare with one sumac tree on the corner. Shopped around for a shade sail and eventually connected with Derek. I discussed with him my ideas and he gave me recommendations and eventually came up with a design. We signed the contract and shortly after Eric and his team came and installed the posts. The posts were powder coated galvanized iron and made to last. Eric was very helpful in answering any of my questions and very pleasant to work with. Although the shade came in a week later than planned due to availability of materials the install was very straightforward and only took less than an hour. Eric showed me when I asked how to take down the sail if I ever find the need to do so. The shade is guaranteed to last at least 10 years and the whole install looks sturdy. The Got Shade team did a remarkable job installing the shade sails over our courtyard, dramatically reducing heat from the fierce Palm Springs sun while still allowing a gentle light into the space. We've attached photos to demonstrate how well Derek designed the shapes of the sails to provide a truly artistic touch to our shading needs. These sails are rigged with steel cables that hold them in place so well that the recent wind storm did nothing, they didn't even move! After refurbishing our large 10-year old wood patio pergola, I was looking for a durable cover both to protect the wood and provide more shade than the slated wood. I considered all the options, from a cheap fabric cover from Lowe's (a few hundred $) to an alumna wood solid cover ($20k). Then I chanced upon the commercial grade sail covers from GotShade. Derek responded to my online inquiry quickly and walked me through the pros and cons; mostly pros in my opinion. Yeah, it was going to cost multiples of the cheap retail cover from Lowe's, but I was not looking for something that would lose its UV protection properties in a year or so and have to be completely replaced every 2-3 years. And we had determined that putting a solid cover over our 600 sf back patio would starve the adjacent den inside of indirect sunlight. So, I considered Got Shade's sail to be more attractive than a solid cover, admitting plenty of indirect light while providing good shade for the patio, costing a fraction of the cost of alumna wood and still lasting 20 years. We were more than happy with Derek and his crew. All of his installers were professional , timely, and friendly. The anchor points for the sails were made incredibly strong. The custom made posts are buried quite deep in large diameter post holes dug down very deep. The anchors on the house are made of very thick metal plates screwed into corner wood beams, and one of the anchor loops is reinforced in the attic with a metal brace that they made on the spot. We have seen installations from other companies with thin pole anchors and eye bolt screws anchored into fascia of the house... NO COMPARISON !
