Second time reviewing this place. First time I had a cheeseburger and this time the cheesesteak. Man, did I want this to be awesome. The one thing that'll ruin a cheesesteak for me is gristle. My cheesesteak was every other bite of fatty gristle balls. The roll was great,the melted cheese in the meat was perfect and it was packed with meat. This was an order for pickup. I support many local businesses in Haddonfield, including some that the Gouldburger team has opened here.... Third experience w/ this location, and it's the one that finally convinced me this is a MUST AVOID. I ordered last Friday at 1:30 for 2 PM pickup. I had a short window for lunch and had to get back to the computer by 2:30. So, strapped for time. When I got there to pick up, there were 4 patrons in line. I walked alongside them to let the cashier know I was just picking up. In exactly the same way countless DoorDash and UberEats people in every food service environment do, all the time. The cashier, that first point of contact for the public, stuck his hand out in the international "talk to the hand" shush gesture. Nice! So I waited outside. After cashier took care of the first two, I lifted up both arms to say "what's up here?" Then I heard him say to the two customers in front of him that "That guy is acting crazy." At that point I told him to enjoy my sandwich -- and the tip I'd left on the PREPAID ORDER -- because I would not be waiting longer. Or coming back. Let's count all the ways this is a bad look: A business can't have employees talking about a customer to other customers -- PERIOD. It can't have people who use the order-ahead system waiting at the back of a line they expected to avoid entirely. It can't be rude to people who are arriving at the site and may not know the particular "rules" for online pickup. In my case, the ridiculous and needless wait allowed time for reflection on previous less-than-stellar attempts at Online Ordering at Gouldsburgers: the time when my burger was essentially cold when I got it home, a three-block walk.The time, just after the location opened, when I waited a long time after the pickup time only to discover that the order was comically wrong. (That one I attributed to newness and returned a few weeks later and had a good experience....). To his credit, the cashier did reach out later -- to ask if I wanted the order remade. He says the card has been credited but, because I'm not crazy, when I told him to enjoy the sandwich I really didn't expect a refund. Still don't! What I would expect is what I asked him when I returned the call: To speak with an admin/GM/MOD person about this. I have zero faith in this happening. But here's why it should: Because this location, which is indeed small, needs to address Online Pickup in a way that doesn't add 10-15 minutes to any poor unsuspecting soul's experience. This is FIXABLE! And also this business needs to rethink how it addresses people with at least a modicum of respect. That may not be fixable.... read more

I few years ago I was at a vegan establishment in Haddonfield who told me that Gouldsburgers beet burger was so good and I needed to try it. I was able to try it for the first time in Medford. My wife and daughter ordered through their online ordering. Here's what we thought. The beet burger itself was good, but not as good as the what I had hoped based on the recommendation. I thought the burger as a whole wasn't put together well and some of the topping were at the bottom of the container. I got my burger with lettuce, tomato, caramelized onions, and cooper sharp cheese. For $1.5 extra the onions were sadly almost non-existent and not caramelized at all, only lightly sauteed. The cheese had very little flavor. Overall not a well put together burger. My wife got the plain Jane hot dog which frankly didn't look that appetizing when she opened the container. The hot dog was too big for the bun and it stuck out by an inch on either side. She thought it was ok. My daughter ordered a mushroom swiss burger. She said it was just ok and that it was kind of dry. (Note: ordering online doesn't have an option for temperature and I'm not even sure if they ask when ordering by phone or in person). She had the same issue with the onions. We also got the onion rings with the G.1. sauce. We both thought the onion rings were just ok. The G.1 sauce definitely helped in their taste otherwise I've had much better onion rings elsewhere. Overall, I expected a lot better from a place that is franchised in multiple locations and apparently is popular enough to do so. read more

I was so excited to hear Gouldsburgers was opening up in Medford on Main Street especially with all the breweries nearby. I've never tried the one in Haddonfield. I've heard great things, and the cheesesteak didn't disappoint. My fiancé and I decided to split a cheesesteak tonight for dinner. I ordered when I left my house and was told 15 minutes. When I arrived for pick-up my order was getting packaged - which ended up being right around 15 minutes. It's very small inside but there is some seating. There were lots and lots of tickets for orders waiting to be filled and it seemed like the staff was organized and had everything under control. The cheesesteak was heavy - shaved prime beef served on an everything roll. The beef was very good quality and almost melted with each bite. I loved how the cheese was melted throughout the steak. This cheesesteak was so dense and loaded with steak it could make a meal for two. This surely was deserving of a 5 star review. Main Street in Medford could always use good food establishments and Gouldsbergers delivered. It'll be hard to come back here and order anything but the cheesesteak but in time I'll ensure to try their entire menu. read more

Gouldsburgers on Main Street, Medford, is a small corner shop with 3-4 tables and a significant takeout trade. The kitchen bustles with several line cooks working a large steel grill and a cashier handling orders and register. They are loud and proud of their work product as they banter with each other between shouts that an order has been completed. Very cool. Actually, it was very cold in the house because the heating system was on the fritz. We wanted to eat there after the drive from Bucks, so we remained bundled up at our table in the corner. It was still worthwhile. Gouldsburgers uses their own unique torpedo rolls for their steak sandwiches. The body is fresh, soft and absorbent to hold the juices from the beef, onions and mushrooms; while the exterior is covered with "everything" bagel topping to make for a more interesting chew. They are stuffed to the gills with whatever you asked for and packed in recyclable clamshell boxes rather than wrapping paper. Like the best steak shops, the sandwiches are a handful of drippy, falling out contents and multiple napkin dabs and wipes. Son's Chicken Steak w Blue Cheese was amazing, especially if blue cheese is your jam. He devoured it, but my small bite felt too overwhelmingly blue. The Prime Steak, however, was a perfect blend of meat, cheddar, onions, shrooms and bread, that held together to the end and satisfied the savage beast. Finally, the Push Cart Hot Dog from The Brooklyn Beef Company was all cow and spices, about 8" long and covered in a homemade tomato onion sauce. This dog barked with each bite through the stretched skin. An excellent version of the eternal frankfurter. But for the heating, this would have been a 5 Star moment. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Service was non-existent, placed an online order for pickup (one cheesesteak and fries). Upon arriving 20 minutes later, I see that the entire place is filled with people waiting for orders, some as much as a hour. Unfortunately, it would turn out that I was one of these people as well. After waiting a hour, I asked the cashier how much longer the wait would be. From there, it seemed like he finally realized he couldn't fulfill my order and asked if he could refund me with no apology. Gluten free onion rings were good, but sadly this was one of the worst chicken cheesesteaks I've ever had. Chicken was just cubed chicken breast (not chopped/shredded), roll was toasted, burnt and hard as a rock on both ends. Pretty much inedible due to the burnt, hard roll. Hope they can fix things up in the near future but def won't be returning for the chicken cheesesteaks or hot dogs. read more

Gluten free heaven!!!! Tears of joy!! Finally a gluten free place that's up to my standards. Everything is pretty customizable. Staff very knowledgeable and clear markings about what's GF. And all fried foods are in 100% olive oil and no gluten enters the fryers. :). I got a build your own burger - it came with 2 patties! Delicious. You do have to ask for a gf bun. It came on and Udis bun and I saw udis hot dog buns in the back too. Burger and fries were delicious. Tasted like they should . Onion rings were good too, could tell they were gluten free breading but that didn't bother me (obviously lol). And my bf who's not gluten free really liked them too. He got a cheesesteak (non gf) and said it was excellent. We couldn't stop eating the fries. Overall really good. The only thing we didn't love were the chicken tenders but they weren't bad at all. And they were crispy. Just would always go for the burger over em. As for the shop it's small with about 3, 2 seater inside tables, and it took about 15 mins for food to be made. If your gluten free this place is wonderful. they cook is olive oil which is also amazing. However a few things that made me take a few stars away. Indoor space is tiny, very loud (from fans?) and hard to communicate with the staff. Each time I went it was the same gentleman working. He's kind, however BOTH times he seemed slightly annoyed that I wanted to double check about it being gluten free ( we are celiacs) and both times he said "yes this is a gluten free restaurant everything is Gluten free" which is NOT the case as they offer regular rolls and must specify for gluten free. Another negative was the way we felt rushed while dining outside as the tables and chairs were being put away 15 Minutes before closing. Also the bottom of my roll was completely soggy and unable to be eaten( I got the spicy chicken on main with GF roll. However the GF onions rings and fries are amazing. Medford Gouldburgers-My hubby and I went there for lunch after reading that it was a hidden gem in New Jersey. Our inital feeling was negative after asking for cups of water and being told they don't do that, we'd have to buy bottled water. (I know it's not a law in NJ to provide tap water, but come on...) The cheesesteak was good-over full of meat, with onions and cheese. Mmmm. My burger was also very tasty. We didn't care for the truffle fries-they were overseasoned, and the truffle mayo was a poop brown color, which was unappealing (and too strong with truffle flavoring). Also, be warned that there is a 3.5% upcharge for using credit cards. It's getting to be common now, but the prices reflect the cash price, not the credit price. I should've known from the cashier flirting with a door dash woman instead of doing his job that I was in for trouble. The whole place was like an oven it was hard to be in there waiting for the food to come out. My waffle fries were just burnt potatoes buried underneath salt. Next up was the kids burger which I know should be cooked well done but this patty was completely dry. Unfortunately the cheesesteak I had was the icing on the cake for me to make only my second ever bad review. The bread was advertised as being from Boaggio's like that means something special. I've never had a worse roll from anywhere in the south Jersey/Philadelphia area. The steak itself was greasy(not in the good way) and the three bites I had were almost as bad as the time spent in the bathroom hours later.
