The important thing: the burger was really good. And I'll add that the fries were also good. First time here. We arrived on a Saturday around 2pm and it was empty. Doors wide open so I knew there wouldn't be a/c running during this painful heat wave and I was right. It was hot in there. No one at the counter, so we awkwardly wait for about 4 or 5 minutes that felt a lot longer. Someone pops out, no greeting, like we interrupted them (maybe we did) and we order. I got a grilled cheese and my friend got the burger. He got the combo. When the dude asked if I wanted a drink, I said just a cup for water. He hesitated, then the look on his face looked like he was mad about it. We pay, my friend doesn't leave a tip on the screen because I wanted to tip in cash. And it took forever to get the receipt to the point of my friend saying "it's cool, don't need it". This dude seemed so annoyed by us. He didn't give us our cups so we sat down. He starts making the food. I was like, he's waiting to give us our cups so we get less refills since we only got one soda (just me overthinking, who really knows). When the food was ready, he brings it out to us, which was nice. My friend said, oh our drinks! And stands up. The guy points to the cups next to the register so apparently we were supposed to grab our own cups. The water from the soda fountain was good, didn't have that tap taste. That's a plus. We didn't share the soda, which I felt we were silently being accused of doing. The fries are hot and fresh and were really good. The grilled cheese was nothing special, smashed kinda flat so not super cheesy and pretty much like one your babysitter makes you at home. But that's a good thing so no complaint. My friend said the burger was really good, and the thousand island style sauce was superb- he said it tasted homemade and had a nice kick and took the burger to a higher level. Anyway, it was just an annoying experience that would have been a lot better if the guy showed any sense of friendliness and if he simply said "go ahead and grab your cups". Will I come back? I will not be returning to this establishment. For the burger joint being called gourmet burger, the burgers were far from gourmet. I placed a to-go order and ordered a patty melt, spicy burger, sweet potato fries, regular fries, and fried zucchini. The spicy burger was slightly dry, lacked a unifying ingredient and didn't have much flavor (way different looking than photos) The saving grace were the jalepenos for spice. The sweet potato fries were good (just as any sweet potato fries would be) and the regular fries were well cooked and seasoned. The patty melt was a huge disappointment. A sesame sour dour bread was used (odd..) and the bread and meat were so dry it made it almost inedible. The bread was so dry and the sesame didn't taste good, we had to remove the bread entirely from the burger to eat it. We didn't even finish it, it was so bad. The fried zucchini, was decent but came extremely oily and the size of the zucchini was tiny. If you order, expect to eat mainly the fried breading. Another gripe I had was that even though I ordered through a mobile app, the food was not ready (and no one was in the restaurant) . I had to go to the register and tell them I had a to-go order, then (and only then) did the staff look for it and begin making it. I had to sit at the restaurant for another 15 minutes due to this. I came here excited to try this place because it had a 4-star rating, but unfortunately it was a disappointing experience. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger (they only had turkey bacon) with no lettuce, tomatoes, or pickles. Instead, my burger arrived without the turkey bacon and with pickles, even though I specifically asked for them to be removed. I'm allergic to pickles, and after taking a bite, my throat started to swell. I also ordered the chili cheese fries, but they were essentially just beans covered in a pinch of cheese. There was no actual chili, which was very disappointing. Overall: Burger - the bread was hard and stale. The meat and cheese was good. Bean Fries: Hard and stale fries and the beans had no flavor. The staff was ok, although a bit quiet, so I don't have any complaints about how they treated me. My issue was with the accuracy and quality of the food. Looking back, I probably should have taken the fact that the restaurant was empty as a warning sign, but I had been searching all over for a classic bacon cheeseburger and chili cheese fries, and this place looked like it would be the perfect spot. I visited this restaurant as an Uber Eats delivery driver, and I want to be fair about the situation: the fact that Uber Eats still lists this location as Irvine Burger House when it is now Gourmet Burger is not the restaurant's fault. That appears to be an issue with Uber Eats not updating its information. Unfortunately, my experience with the night-shift employee was extremely frustrating. There was an issue with the customer's order, and I initially tried to work with the employee to adjust the order on the customer's behalf. He initially agreed to make the adjustment, but then changed direction and said the original order could actually be made with a few modifications. If that had been explained from the beginning, the situation could have been resolved much more quickly. Instead, the order dragged on for approximately 30 minutes. Eventually, I was told that I needed to contact the customer myself to clarify the order. After all of that back-and-forth, the customer ultimately gave up and canceled the order. What really frustrated me was the lack of urgency and communication throughout the process. While I was trying to resolve the situation, the employee was taking his time preparing burgers, wearing AirPods, taking a phone call, and repeatedly telling me to wait while trying to finish the order. After the customer canceled, there wasn't even an acknowledgment or apology--he simply moved on to the next customer. I understand that restaurants get busy and that mistakes happen. I also understand that the Uber Eats listing being outdated isn't the restaurant's fault. But this situation could have been handled much more efficiently with clear communication and a little more urgency. I'm sure the food itself is good, and I don't want to blame the restaurant for the Uber Eats listing issue. However, my experience with the night-shift employee was extremely disappointing. I hope management can address the communication and customer-service issues with the evening staff, because this situation ultimately resulted in a customer not receiving their dinner and a delivery driver losing 30+ minutes of work. read more

We had dinner here and there is plenty of parking in the shopping center that the restaurant is a part of. The restaurant itself is roomy and a little warm, temperature wise, on the inside. This is a Lebanese burger joint so everything is Halal. The menu is straightforward and we got two burgers and a few sides. The first burger was the old-fashioned cheeseburger. Super simple ingredients with cheese, a couple of patties, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, red onion and sauce. The patties were incredibly fresh tasting and a great reason to come back again. The second burger was the spicy burger with a couple of patties, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, red onion, Chipotle mayo and slice jalapeños. Just the right amount of heat for me and absolutely delicious. For sides we got mozzarella sticks, French fries and onion rings. All the sides were made fresh. The mozzarella sticks had some of the best cheese pull ever. The fries are perfectly cooked with just the right amount of salt. I ordered the Lebanese burger that came with your basic sesame bun, cheese and beef patty. What made this burger super exciting to my tastebuds was the coleslaw. I'm not sure exactly what it was but it leveled up the burger and with the added fries mashed up inside! Oh Man! I was like Dayuuum! This is like a Ratatouille moment for me with all the elements working together after the first bite. The last time I had a first time winner was my beloved Fatburger and that's saying a lot. Yummm, a very small and unassuming establishment . I think it might be Muslim run based on some decor and the staff and that they close for Ramadan which I think is so great! The place was empty when we walked in but the grill was going with a ton of burgers. They had three little iPads chiming away so it's obvious that this place does mostly to-go orders even though they offer plenty of seating. The woman working was super nice. My friend and I each got a sandwich combo and then we got an extra burger to film...phone eats first, right? I wanted the falafel sandwich and was super bummed that they were currently out, but next time! I was very happy with the onion rings. I will admit the patties were a little dry but I thought they tasted good and honestly the food overall is a little sauce heavy so it all evens out in your mouth. Omg. This place has taken a turn for the worse. I have now been here 3 times in the last 8 years and the service has gradually gotten worse. Considering it was already pretty bad, this is sad. I understand they had a note saying they will open the dine-in at 5:50pm for Ramadan, but when the fast opens at 5:53pm, it might make sense to open maybe 10 minutes earlier. The tables still had chairs stacked on them. The burgers still take a while to make. They have listed a kids meal on the menu but apparently they charge you more/less. Makes no sense you are making me buy more nuggets at a higher price than listed. Than they charged less for the cheese burger. I guess making your own prices even though something else is listed is okay?! Next comes the quality of the food. Terrible. The burger was dry. The meat was dry and had a bad smell to it. My husband agreed to both of these observations. Sucks we paid for a double patty on both burgers. Getting underseasoned, dry, double patties that have a rancid smell. How bad! If you are served by Mo, hes super friendly and an awesome owner. Make sure to say hi to him as he appreciates every single one of his customers. The plaza it is located in has plenty of parking, and there is a good amount of space inside. Its reminiscant of a simple but homey burger joint. I got to talk to him about this business and how he puts so much effort into making every burger. All the meat is Halal, and prepared fresh daily. They prep, grind and smash the meat for all their patties. Same with the veggies, they are prepped every morning so nothing is left overnight. And not to forget their sauces are homemade as well. I ordered a BBQ burger and a Lebanese coleslaw burger, both had nicely seasoned meat patties stacked with fresh veggies. Taste wise and visually, it was everything a good burger should be. Not greasy, piled high with toppings and delicious. They do put a lot of sauce on the buns, so if you don't like too much sauce just let them know.
