A great spot for delicious smash burgers, loaded fires, wings, and hotdogs! They are located in the 4th Street Market Food Hall and I stopped by yesterday for lunch and had a good meal here. I went for their classic smash burger and their cheese fries. My smash burger was delicious. The patty was well smashed, it was flavorful and not dry, the buns were toasted and the sauce on top added to the overall richness. The cheese fries were good and there was plenty of cheese sauce throughout the box they came in and there was a hefty amount of fries and it's easily shareable. Service was friendly and fast and ordering was a breeze. The overall atmosphere is relaxing and lively with the various other tenants open and people walking about. If you want some good comfort food, I recommend stopping by the Golden Eatery!
There's no problem a solid smash burger can't solve. We got both the traditional and the bourbon bacon smash, and a side of tater tots. The traditional smash is beefy, juicy, and everything a good smash burger should be. But the bourbon bacon smash really stole the show. The subtle sweetness and caramelization really bring out the flavor of the beef. The tater tots are perfectly cooked as well. Love that they made it extra crispy. The meal was really filling as expected, but it's worth it for some sunshine and dank smash burger :)
Hanging out in the OC and decided to stop by the 4th Street Market for lunch. My nephew decided that he wanted to try The Golden Eatery, so I went with him. Looked over the menu and I got the single smash and an order of the chili fries. My nephew got a chicken sandwich combo (FYI - it doesn't come with a drink, just regular fries). While I was placing my order some random guy (homeless???) eating a plate of food TOLD me to order him a drink. You read that right, he told me like I knew him and he was part of my party. I just looked at him confused and went about placing my order. He tapped me on the shoulder again and said "never mind" as someone else handed him a soda. (This did no influence the rating). I pay and they handed me a pager. So we walked around to see what else the Marketplace had to offer while we waited.....and waited.....and waited. It took about 15 minutes to finally get our food, which consisted of 2 burgers and 2 fries. It took a really long time for the food to be ready. My single smash burger was good - had a sort of thousand island spread on it, the buns were slightly toasted and the cheese was nicely melted. The chili fries had a good amount of chili on them, it was nice and chunky with a lot of ground beef in it. My nephew said the chicken was a decent sized and was moist. The fries were seasoned well and had a good amount of crisp. Overall the food was good . The price tag: 2 burgers, fries and an order of chili fries was over $40 and did not include drinks. Kinda hefty considering you can get the same quality of food from your local burger chain with the double palm trees. The other issue for me was the amount of time it took to get our food, it was really long and annoying, The rest of our party (who went to other vendors for food) had received their food and begun eating by the time we finally got ours. While the food was good, the wait and price just didn't work out for me.
I had the Nashville Tots with the coleslaw and sauce on the side. Overall the tots were crispy but the flavor of the chicken was okay. I didn't get it spicy so maybe that is why but overall the tots were okay.
Was looking for another restaurant actually and stumbled upon this place. I can say with certainty it was 100% worth it! I asked the guy working what he suggested for a first timer and he said the Nashville Hot Chicken. I went with medium spice and it's definitely got a bite but it was delicious! The chicken was moist and juicy, the flavor was incredible! The vibes are cool as it's in this market that has a bunch of restaurants. I can't wait to go back as they have a few more menu items that look just as good!

I'm not much of a hamburger person but the double smash burger was so good. It came with chopped grilled onions, chopped pickles, cheese, and their special sauce on a potato bun. It was super cheesy and juicy and tasted similar to a Shake Shack burger. It didn't look like a lot of food but was more than enough with a side of fries. And then the fries came packed with a seasoning similar to Old Bay Seasoning so you don't even need ranch or ketchup with them. It's located inside of 4th Street Market so it has a hip, trendy vibe. I like that they have outdoor seating both in the front and in the back, so that I can bring my dog.
I dropped by this restaurant at 4th street market and couldn't have been more pleased with my decision. I'm used to dry rub garlic parmesan but this sauce was fantastic. The wings came well seasoned and of high quality and they tasted fresh. The person working there was friendly and helpful in guiding my decision making and I never felt rushed. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone in Santa Ana looking for wings...they can be considered somewhat pricy but the quality is tough to beat. For those used to a dry rub garlic parnesan I suggest you request it on the side as they do tend to out a lot of sauce on the wings as you can see in the pic
Santa Ana, Ca. I come to this kind of funky food court when I charge my car. I liked the sound of the Nashville chicken tacos so I ordered two It took awhile, partly because the cook was taking on multiple orders placed before me and partly because of this maintenance guy with a lot of keys on his belt who wanders around this mall doing noticeably nothing. He is infatuated with the woman who works here and relentlessly engages her in conversation and not only wasting her time but distracting her from her food prep duties. She was sort of unfriendly but patient with me, but willing to listen even if disinterestedly to the key dude. The tacos are large with a large piece of fried chicken breast nestled in the shell. They are loaded with a sauce and are runny and messy and difficult to eat. But they are amazingly delicious. I mean holy crap these are good. There is a hotness scale to choose from and I picked medium. I think I'll choose hot next time as medium is just a bit below the heat that I like. Copious napkins are a necessity, I had to go back with my messy hands to get many more. The ness is worth it absolutely .
This place is pretty good but expensive. So beware of that. I don't really care, I've eaten here once before and it was tasty. So this time I took my GF before we went to a concert on 7/22. The Golden Eatery is located on 4th Street in the eating hall area. It's always pretty busy here so just know you can be waiting a while. We had a very simple order. 2 Smashburgers (1 Single/1 Double) w/ Tater tots and Mac & cheese. And 2 drinks. It all tasted so good! The double smash was just too much for myself, I should've definitely gotten a single lol. The mac and cheese wasn't very good at all. It tasted like it was microwaved and left sitting for a while. By the time it got to us it was cold, and not lukewarm. Besides the MAC, everything else was pretty solid.
My husband got the double smash burger and I tasted it. One thing I can say is this was truly a smash burger. Some places think smash means the meat is so thin it turns into to nothing but a crips. This is a real smash burger, still thick but flat. The burger was juicy and perfectly cooked. You could taste the seasoning on the meat. The fries were also delicious. The service was great as well
Stopped by to get some hot fried chicken and was really happy that the restaurant isn't too far from the freeway. Parking was really easy (street parking. And it in a really cute shared market space with lots of other fast food restaurants. I ordered their chicken sliders and wedgies. It was a 4/5. I thought the chicken could've been hotter, I got medium which was not spicy at all. I wish their wedges were seasoned better and they had whatever sauce was on the sandwich offered it for the fries in a small portion. The coleslaw on the sandwich was really good and didn't make the bread soggy. I'd stop by here again if I was in the Santa Ana area.
Pros: Pickles were good! Staff was really nice. Cons: Chicken tenders were dry and lacking flavor. The batter on the chicken kept falling off the chicken. I've had this place bookmarked for a good amount of time and finally tried it and was pretty disappointed. I gave them two stars because they served 20 minutes before closing without me realizing it. If I didn't have their homemade comeback sauce that I bought on the side, I probably would not have been able to finish the tenders.

The Portuguese fried rice is served as a very hearty portion, enough for 2 to share, unless you're starving then have one yourself. The Portuguese sausage was crispy , and a nice compliment to the fried rice. The whole dish was full of complimentary flavors and textures that all blended perfectly together. Service was friendly and there was plenty of seating inside the market. Which on its own was super cool, they even had outside games to play. read more
I thought we were done eating a massive mountain of fries at another eatery when hubby said let's get chicken wings. I guess the man wanted additional protein!! So off we go to Golden Eatery, because clearly our appetites still had unfinished business!! We ordered 10 wings, half Sweet Chili Pineapple, half Mango Habanero, because if you're going back in, you commit!!! Oh, and they came with tater tots. The food shows up hot and fresh, like it sprinted from the fryer to our table. The wings weren't breaded... just straight-up, no-disguise chicken coated in sauce. Respect!!! The sauces? Bold!!! Flavorful!! The tater tots were shockingly flavorful!! Not just filler tots. These had personality!! The ranch dip.... delicious!! Tasted like it was made in house, I could taste the dill weed!! In the end, we were stuffed, happy, and questioning absolutely none of our decisions... at least until we stood up. Highly recommend if youre feeling wings!! read more

The food - terrible. Overpriced burgers. They add a sauce to the burger that is not on the menu description. Service - TERRIBLE! Counter person argued with me over their mistake. They gave us or order wrong. Charged us for the triple burger like we ordered and gave us a double. Added a sauce to our chili fries and burger. Then complained we we asked what that sauce was. We showed our order that was very specific on what we wanted. Asked her to repeat the order to ensure she got it right and ofcourse it's wrong. Receive attitude when she said she will Just make it again. I told her to give me a refund instead and she yelled make that she said she will make it again. Terrible terrible terrible. Don't waste ur time or money coming here. Terrible food. Terrible service. Did I say terrible!!!! read more

UPDATE: Very professional response to this review from management. Makes me confident that they are open to feedback about the details. Increasing review to 4 stars. Good smashburger and fries. I was annoyed by two things : 1) the cashier asked me if I wanted ranch or honey mustard, as if it was included in my order (she didn't say would you like to ADD...), and then charged me $1 for it. The ranch was nasty and flavorless and gelatinous like Hidden Valley Ranch, and not consistent with the much higher quality of their burgers and fries. 2) I asked for the "grilled cheese fries" which sounded amazing, but the cashier was very confused and finally walked out to look at the menu and said very matter-of-factly. "Oh, that's a grilled cheese sandwich" (which they couldn't even make because they were out of bread, by the way) to which I replied "maybe they should put it in the sandwich section of the menu instead of the loaded tots and fries section?" Please, if you are going to open a restaurant, hire at least one person qualified to review your menu before going live. read more

Delicious fried chicken but on the spicy side. My boyfriend and I are so-so with dealing with spicy, and we naively thought that we could handle medium like we could at other American fried chicken places. We were borderline wrong. Spice levels aside, I thought both the popcorn chicken and tenders were fantastic. The sauces were unique but not really for me (looking at whiskey BBQ which definitely achieved the whiskey taste). The staff was really friendly and cheerful. I'd definitely try this place again when I'm in DTSA. read more
I came 4th Street Market the other night with some friends and we decided to eat here. I ordered the sliders, my friend ordered the loaded fries and not pictured my other firme got the Golden Sando. Everything was super delicious and greasy and perfect. I got mine Medium spicy level but maybe next time i'll go up from medium! read more

We liked the Sando a lot. Why they put a huge portion of ketchup packets on our tray, which we did NOT ask for, was super off putting I hate waste. It does not need ketchup. Ew. They were over ten minutes late opening up. I initially chose HOT but he recommended medium with a bit of HOT (jalapeño) sprinkled on top and it was perfect. I think he was worried we couldn't handle heat and next time I would pick HOT It's pricey for the size/portion you receive so I would go to Popeyes instead next time for a third of price. read more
My girlfriend opted to try out The Golden Hot Fried Chicken when we visited Santa Ana's 4th Street Market. She ordered the golden sando yesterday and while the flavor was great, the sandwich itself was a mess. The second she picked it up it started oozing liquid from all directions - making it impossible for her to set it down in between bites. Wouldn't recommend for those on a first date... and if you are brave enough to try, get a stack of napkins! ;) read more

This place will definitely have you coming back for more, but not just for the food. The owner Oscar is absolutely amazing and an absolute genius in the kitchen!! From the sliders, to the tacos, to those crisp golden sandos!! Everything is beyond amazing The Chicken is always cooked to perfection, so moist and flavorful, you can't go wrong!! The spices are so on point, but make sure you can handle the heat, if you can't don't worry, they've got options for everyone!! They've got no heat, country style, light mild, mild, medium, hot, and golden hot. Don't get me started on that gooey Mac n cheese, everyone will love it, kids and adults!! Honestly We were starving so we saw that chicken place and assumed it was going to be good. It was not good. There was literally no seasoning or flavor at all like it tasted like nothing. I spent 40 dollars for some plain chicken that tastes like nothing. The service was ok we waited 30 minutes for 2 things and there were people who ordered after us that got our food before us. The vibe is ok i guess. Honestly I wouldn't ever spend my money here again I wish I could've gotten a refund. read more

Tried this place out with my coworkers. Everyone loved it. Recommend the Breakfast Burrito and the Golden Tacos!!! The loaded fries and loaded wedges were pretty good too. Fried pickles were too oily, personally didn't like it. read more

I'm so happy to find out that there's a Nashville Hot Chicken spot at 4th Street Market now! I love going to 4th Street to explore all of the food options and now I can have my hot chicken here as well! They have wonderful options here to choose from! They got sandwiches, sliders, tenders, tacos and more! I got a medium spice level for my order and it was the perfect amount of spice for me. The don't hold back on the portion sizes as well! The tenders, sandwiches and tacos are all big and very filling. The chicken pieces are thick and juicy and they come out fresh! If you love hot chicken like me, check this spot out when you're at 4th Street Market in Santa Ana! read more
Heck yes .. This Nashville fried chicken place hits the tastebuds. Best part I didn't have to leave downtown santa ana to try it. I highly recommend! Chicken so fresh and juicy. This is the best hot chicken in LA. It is perfectly seasoned, it is light and crispy on the outside, while still being juicy and delicious on the inside. Make the time to stop by the 4th Street market, it's a cool place in it's own right but Golden Hot Fried Chicken is the culinary crown jewel that ensures the trip will be more than worth your time read more

Wow! I searched "Best Chicken Sandwiches near me" and this place did not disappoint! Me, my boyfriend, and my younger brother are always on the hunt for the best chciken sandwhiches, preferably Nashville style. When we came across this place, we knew we had to try it out , ESPECIALLY since it's in Santa Ana, our hometown, and a local business. Let's just say their sandwiches were BOMB! I ordered the sliders (spicy level: mild) and let me tell you, their tenders were moist and the flavor was great. My brother, who came with me, ordered the fries. I will say, my brother is a HARSH critic - as in he knows his stuff and likes to spend his money on areas that are worth his $$$$. He had NOTHING bad to say about this place. He loved the sauce and left no crumb on his plate. We left craving for more and can't wait to go back there again. read more
