    Right on Baldwin Rd!

I frequently stop at Baldwin Pizza for lunch and when I do, I see Gourmet Cafe a few doors down. After looking at the website and reading a bio of the owner, I was looking forward to stopping in for lunch. Today I had the chance to stop in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a cool little restaurant, nicely decorated, with very friendly servers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the Open-Faced Tuna Melt. The sandwich and the pasta salad it's served with was delicious! The apples and cranberries with melted Swiss cheese on top was different but very tasty. There's many other great sounding choices on the menu, so I'll definitely be returning!

Awesome service and food! Be prepared if you want wine pick up a bottle on the way over since they don't have a license to sell but can pour yours. They were nice enough to give me a bottle of Pinot Grigio they had on hand.

Another great meal only equal led by the prompt and courteous service. Matthew and his team always hit the mark. This is our go-to when in town. The dishes are made to perfection, you can taste the love they have for food. The linguine with shrimp and scallops is such a dish. Jumbo shrimp and sea scallops served over al dente pasta in a savory pink vodka sauce...perfetto! No corkage as it's BYOB Gracie Mille, Matthew for an excellent meal.

We have been dining at Gourmet Cafe for years! Chef Matt loves cooking for and giving back to his community! From is amazing dishes to his huge heart, we just love supporting him! Not only has he fed us all these years, he's watched our family grow! He gives back by employing some of the best servers! They all feel like family after dining with them for the last 15 years out of the 18 years he's been in business! Thank you Matt for your culinary genius and for being the heart of Parsippany! Cheers!

    It *was* Butterscotch Bread Pudding...

Writing a review from the table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute little strip mall restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Enthusiastic crowd and staff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Owner circulated and chatted up some patrons. I made sure to let him know we were very pleased. Servers were all helpful and friendly. It was our first time here. We didn't have a reservation (we aren't locals), but they accommodated us anyway, happily. Make sure you have a reservation. Bread: Warm, toasty. Oh my goodness, the risotto croquettes. Do not miss these. That and a wedge salad would be a great light dinner! I didn't do light though: "Jersey" Carbonara (bacon and cream sauce). I asked if they could make it without onions, and it was no problem. Soft shell crab on special for the hubs. He was very pleased. It was light and flavorful. We are waiting for the famous butterscotch bread pudding as I type. BRB it's here!! Shame I didn't have patience to take a picture of it before we killed it. Wait! We were out of here for under a hundred bucks?! App, two entrees, and shared dessert.

Absolutely adorable, hidden gem. Everyone is extremely friendly and accommodating. The owner himself even comes over to your table to check on you. I started out with the breaded eggplant, tomato, and burrata , absolutely perfect, so creamy and delicious! I also ordered their famous drunken chicken parm, definitely lived up to the hype! I also had a side Caesar, which I could've had four bowls of so amazing! I can't wait to go back to try the rest of the menu !

Highly recommend making reservations as this is a small but nice BYOB restaurant. Came here for dinner on a Saturday evening and it did not disappoint. Food and service were good. parking is shared is with the other stores in the area. During the evening, the owner /chef of the restaurant went to each table to say hi and ask how everything was. Yes, we brought our own vino... complimentary fresh baked bread to start Appetizers to share: burrata and prosciutto special and caesar salad to share - both were good Entrees: Rigatoni with shrimp and crab meat and veal saltimboca - both enjoyed the entrees remember to make room for dessert: The pistachio gelato truffle was sooo good. Highly recommend it! Definitely will be back again to try more items from the menu and more pistachio truffle :)

Cocktails were pretty good too - some a little on the sweet side but, again, somethin' for everyone theme throughout. Tonight we enjoyed the risotto as an appetizer and the beet salad - both delicious. Some others in our party had the mushroom soup - tasty and a huge portion. For entrees, my wife asked them to make an off-menu gnocchi bolognese and they obliged - and she was quite pleased with it. I had the gnocchi special with chunks of short rib - impossible to ever go wrong with anything with short rib! Very tasty! Our friends had a variety of pasta and veal dishes - the veal chop special was Wow! All enjoyed their choices. We skipped on dessert because everyone usually climbs into my SUV "bus" for ice cream somewhere nearby. The adventure continues! This is a rough business. It's so hard for a single restaurant to stay in business for this long but Eccola has stayed relevant in an uber-competitive North Jersey market. Eccola means "Here She Is!". However, we did have to wait a solid half hour past our reservation time with no apology. Our waiter was unfriendly, if not rude. I don't think he said more than 10 words the entire night and didn't seem particularly thrilled to be there. But otherwise, attentive. Food was solid. Grilled calamari came out lukewarm at best but was tasty. Mussels good but nothing special. Great complimentary bread. We all really enjoyed our entrees - salmon, orecchiette, and clams over linguine. Chocolate mouse cake was good but the biscotti pretty standard. Place was busy with a nice vibe. However the restaurant could use an update. Light fixtures, booths and some other design elements scream 1992.

I was in the mood for Italian food, so we decided to give this place a shot. I called ahead to check availability, and I'm glad I did! We didn't have a reservation, but thankfully the manager let us know that they'd have a table ready for us around 7:20pm (it was roughly 7pm when I called). My husband and I were just down the street, so we decided to go ahead and make our way there. Once we got seated, we were quickly greeted by our server, Mike. He was very attentive and friendly! We later learned that it was his second day on the job, which we found shocking as he did such a great job! As for the food... I'll be honest, I was a bit disappointed. I ordered the Eggplant Parmigiana (my favorite Italian dish) and my husband ordered the Risotto Primavera. The Eggplant Parmigiana was not crispy at all, which was super disappointing! It had a great flavor, but I prefer a crispy texture so this didn't really hit the spot for me. It came with linguini noodles with tomato sauce, which was very bland. Whatever sauce they used did not have a great taste to it. As for the Risotto Primavera...it had a RICH flavor to it. My husband said "it's good, but not good enough to order again". I, on the other hand, didn't like it as I thought it was just too rich in taste. The food wasn't the best, but I'm giving them 4 stars because the overall service was fantastic! Everyone was so attentive, helpful and friendly, from the host to our server to the manager. It's rare these days to find a team where everyone is pitching in and happily doing so!
